Grill Royal in Berlin

We celebrated my birthday here. The food and ambience exceeded our expectations. But Conny really made the evening perfect. She impressed us with her warm manner and her appropriate recommendations.

For the second time in a row, we didn't get the cooking level we ordered. Hollandaise comes in egg cup size. Beaten so foamy that the contents can hardly be found on the plate. That was different, see photo. New bottle of wine, no query whether new glasses. Oh well.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality and service in this restaurant. Although I have had good experiences in the past, the situation has deteriorated significantly. The service was almost non-existent - the waiter barely looked after our table and was clearly overwhelmed or inattentive. After placing my order, I was never served my food. Only after a long wait and repeated requests was a new serving brought to me, but there were problems here too. What was particularly noticeable was that the waiters generally seemed unfocused and often didn't show themselves, even if guests had further requests. There was no organization or sign of effort to please the guests. For me the service was not only bad, but simply unacceptable. As far as the quality of the food is concerned, it was also no longer at the level that I was used to. The dishes seemed carelessly prepared and there were no highlights in terms of taste either. For the price I expect a lot more. I am currently questioning whether I will visit this restaurant again. The service needs to improve significantly, as does the quality of the food, to win me back as a guest. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it in its current form. I wouldn't have expected such an experience and I think it's a shame that the standard has dropped so much.

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin with fine cuisine. The food is wonderful, especially the Wagyu. We always like coming here and like the atmosphere, as well as the extremely good service and of course the delicious food. The seats by the window are the most beautiful - we think 🥰

An evening at Grill Royal is like a vacation for the soul! Are you in the mood for excellent steak, incomparably good wine and an evening in a great ambience? Then you've come to the right place at Grill Royal. Hardly any other restaurant is so excellent in terms of service and food - if you haven't been here yet, definitely try it - you will be amazed! Be sure to try the steak, also to share. We also particularly recommend the lettuce with a great vinaigrette, the perfectly baked fries with Bernaise sauce (great combination), and the divine chocolate mousse to end a wonderful evening. A very special thank you to Schubi and Nikolaus - your service is second to none! I'm already looking forward to my next visit with you!

I was visiting with a work colleague last week. The two of us spent around 450 euros and after around 2 1/2 hours we were asked to come to the end because the table had to be given to new guests. Unfortunately, for what you would expect from an establishment of this status, it falls far short of expectations. The food was reasonable for the price, but we also felt rushed during the visit. The starters were already picked up and served when we were not even half finished with the aperitif etc. I don't think it's recommended, especially given what we spent that evening.

It all started with a booking error on my part, followed by a professional and friendly solution from the staff. Now to the restaurant. Nice ambience and great food. What more could you want?

Probably the best restaurant in Berlin! It was an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

The steaks were amazing. The kobe beef was one of the best I've had - especially with the wasabi. The other cuts were also very premium and well cooked. However, the service was extremely poor, especially for a restaurant at this price level. We had to ask twice for the bill and the waiter was extremely impatient, refusing to offer any meaningful suggestions.

The food and service were of course beyond reproach, but that's to be expected given the price. What I actually don't understand is that there's a toilet lady sitting there with plates. If necessary, increase the hourly wage adequately? In any case, I always come to this place like I'm in the cheapest store in town.

Our waitress Conny made our whole evening so much better and I would come here again just for her. It was our first time here and she walked us through the whole menu and recommended the best of the best. The food was super tasty and the meat was very tender. A bit noisy for me personally, but the service was just perfect. Thank you for this lovely evening :)

That was nothing! Ambiance like in a canteen; Staff so well, pure arrogance at reception

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the reality does not live up to the reputation. The steak was more of a BlockHouse chain level. Especially with the side dishes, you couldn't shake the feeling that the chef had a salt allergy. The only thing that definitely stood out, and by miles, was the roasted red shrimp.

A great restaurant that looks as if it was there for a very long time. The staff is well trained, the kitchen is visible from the whole restaurant. The food was outstanding, and even though the place is a bit pricey, it’s worth it. Highly recommended.

We arrived without a reservation, and despite the restaurant being full, we were warmly welcomed and offered a lovely table. The service was exceptional, and the food truly delicious. Nancy, the sommelier, stood out for her professionalism and kindness. Our evening was truly wonderful, with a warm atmosphere and exquisite flavors.

Unfortunately not a nice experience, 200! Euro in 45 minutes, beef tartare, as a starter came after 5 minutes, someone really made an effort. Main course for 90 euros again after 5 minutes! No water offered with the wine, five different waiters, all in all I felt like a bustor, all that was missing was the electric blankets! Food was great! Price performance was nothing

I was served with a porterhouse 1.2kilo, medium-rare prepared instead medium, how I asked. The cut it was with a lot of fat and unfortunately not well peeled, how could be observed in photo.

An evening full of impressions. The service is really top, especially when it comes to wine recommendations. The food was all on point and a great selection of different types of meat. Only the high volume level is very tiring in the long run.

Overrated in my opinion. If you like expensive prices because you want to feel like a celebrity: a place to be. If you're looking for delicious food at honest prices: oh well. The steak was of course good. The side dishes are pretty average. Service absolutely top.

We went to this restaurant because we wanted to try Wagyu beef. It was my birthday present. All I can say is that it was the best restaurant experience of my life so far. The service was very friendly, accommodating and was able to answer all questions. The wine advice was very good and recommended wines that went well with the food. The starters were an experience to the power of ten. I had the "Burrata Brandenburg" and was able to enjoy a taste of tomatoes that I have never experienced before. My companion had the ceviche and also raved about it. There was also bread which was super tasty and crispy, we even got more than we had raved about. For the main course we both had the “Wagyu entrecote” with broccoli and the house fries. Everything was very tasty, especially the house fries you could smell from afar. We couldn't decide for dessert so we took three: creme brulee, pavlova and marinated melon. All three were a delight in sweet treats. We also had a recommended alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktail. I have never eaten so slowly in my life and enjoyed every little bite so much. It was all very expensive, but not too expensive. Thanks for the experience!

Very great food and great service. Sitting close together took some getting used to. Otherwise very pleasant.

Went there as a recommendation from our Hotel for my wife's birthday. Making reservation by phone past 5pm was very convenient and easy. Our waiter was extremely friendly and fun. He made us laugh while being extremely professional. His recommendations of wine and sides were on point for what we had ordered. I had entrecote and my wife the filet mignon and both were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The restaurant was lively while not being overly loud. Very nice ambiance on the riverside. Would absolutely recommend.

Six of us went to a business lunch at the Grill Royal. A guest came later and we were rudely informed that the table had been taken a second time and that we should order. And this lasted the whole evening and culminated in a missed bill. If you compare the prices with the behavior of the service staff, then there is a huge imbalance. The pepper sauce is thin and definitely not suitable for a top restaurant.

Vi havde glædet os, for vi havde hørt meget om stedet. Restauranten ligger smukt ved floden, og vi fik et bord udenfor, som vi havde ønsket. Derefter gik alt galt. Vi havde 4 forskellige, forvirrede tjenere, der nok ikke kommunikerede sammen, så der var forkerte antal af flere bestillinger, noget var forsinket og nogle bestillinger kom slet ikke. Det gjorde til gengæld regningen, der var horribel dyr for det, vi havde fået. Maden var ok, men stedet er opreklameret, et “has been” sted, som vi ikke kan anbefale.

I celebrated my birthday at Grill Royal and overall I was very satisfied. The service was excellent - attentive, friendly and professional. The food was also very tasty, especially the steaks. Although I found the prices a bit higher for what you get, it was still a successful evening. If you want to enjoy a good steak in an upscale atmosphere, this is the place for you.

The food was very good, ultimately the price is not something to discuss, you afford it or not. But for such a well priced location to have no AC in full summer, is just unacceptable. They put 2 cheap ventilators out, we got boiled inside. A pity of the place and the food to miss out on such basic items.

I've been going here for 10 years but maybe once or twice a year... no one knows me there but I don't care. What matters is that we have never been disappointed! Everything is always great! From the starters to the desserts, amazing. What's most important to me is the meat. Always excellent. It's time to visit this restaurant again. The Grill Royal is known to have the best beef tartare in town!

The most lovely team ever. Always such a pleasure to be there. Best sommelier and always an vegan option for me. Love French artichoke, gazpacho and fries are my fav at the moment.

Good food shouldn't be made cheaply stupid. But the price list here is pure comedy. Are you crazy?

Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience. Since we didn't know that a reservation was required, we were sent away straight away, even though there were only two of us. Instead of giving us the opportunity to wait for a table, we were simply turned away.

Sono tornato dopo alcuni anni dalla prima visita e ho trovato l'esperienza ancora piacevole, amche se a mio parere ora è davvero overpriced. Ricarichi sui vini e sulla carne fuori mercato per un ristorante che, in fin dei conti è una steak house e non uno stellato. Main course che, sebbene proposto a prezzi stellari, arriva sul tavolo del tutto sguarnito a meno di non ordinare tutto extra, comprese le salse. Francamente eccessivo. Servizio molto cortese, location eccellente. Da prendere assolutamente l'insalata verde per accompagnare la bistecca, quasi mai vista un'insalata così abbondante bella fresca e buona, infatti è gettonatissima dagli habitué.

This must be one of the best restaurants in Germany. A luxurious, setting next to the river Spree. So comfortable and relaxed and the waiter was delightful. Exquisite, soft lighting. But the food! OMG! I had a steak that was simple and stunningly good quality. Ordered Vichy carrots too. My wife had the North Sea sole deboned table-side. which she loved. Delicious fennel salad to start. The Cosmopolitan before dinner was just the way it should be. Fun people watching. Clearly the city’s big shots and trendsetters.

The food was not especial at all, it is just super expensive and not even good. We went for an anniversary and we were very disappointed, people in Berlin recommend it a lot but don't know why. I guess just because looks fancy and is expensive but the service is terrible bad and the food not good at all. The worst is the waters and the hostess that just because one is not full of botox or makeup assume that one has no money and treat you but. Definitely not going back and wouldn't recommend it.

Service seems boring and arrogant, the interior is too warm, food and drinks are grossly overpriced. The starter of lobster salad (€48) contained little lobster meat and was unimaginative and not particularly attractively prepared. The ceviche starter was quite appetizing and, for €22, somewhat ok. The steak ordered "medium" (NY strip aged on the bone, €118) was served "medium raw", and the proportion of bone, fat and tendons outweighed the edible part. But at least the pre-cut meat slices tasted pretty good. The Sweet Potato Fries ordered as a side dish were a bad joke for €8: a small bag with e.g. T. sticking together, e.g. Fries that are sometimes burnt and overall too heavily salted. The Bernaise sauce (€5) was said to be quite ok. The wine prices were just outrageous. Conclusion: waste of money! 🤷‍♀️

Food tastes very good. I can't understand the hype about the lettuce, it looks good, tastes fresh but not very tasty, would need a lot more dressing. The meat was all very tasty. Service at the table was very nice, but because so many people were being served we always had to wait a really long time until someone came to our table. We had a seat inside, outside I would have freaked out with the neon signs flashing constantly. What is not possible is that in the toilet you are “required” to tip the staff. Given the prices and a bill of almost €600, this should really be included. Location is quite nice, you can go there sometimes but that's it.

Food fine but arrogant and brusque service made a €350 date dinner less than successful. Wine waiter was personable and knowledgeable but the food servers ruined the night by speaking to the next table of a young mixed race couple so rudely and clearly with racist connotations that I just hope they consider a formal complaint. Delicious shop in Berlin for a special dinner. Good fries and the steak was good too. The steak was exactly as ordered and the fries were nice and crispy. The steak sauce is also recommended. The service is very courteous and professional, but unfortunately it can sometimes take a little longer before you can order, depending on how busy it is at the time. In terms of price, the store is of course very expensive, but that is of course already known. Highly recommended for a one-off experience or special occasions, as the ambience is very appealing, but unfortunately it is not enough for regular visits. Overall a 7.3/10.

Very nice food, best beef I ever had. Quite pricy, but very good quality too. The Atmosphere directly at the waterfront was very nice. The furniture is a bit outdated.

Wir mögen das Steakhaus sehr und das Personal geht immer auf unsere Tischwünsche ein. Wir bilden uns ein das die Plätze jetzt tiefer sind und man mehr sieht. Wir waren 6 Erwachense und 3 Kinder. Unser Kellner war sehr aufmerksam und hat einen sehrr guten Job gemacht. Wir hatten verschiedene Vorspeisen. Einmal das 64 grad Ei, Tats und Burrata. Als Haupstpeisen hatte wir verschiedene Steaks. Entrecote , Filet Mignon, Filet , Runpsteak und ein Porterhouse plus ein einige Beilagen. Das Fleisch war sehr lecker und besonders gut ist der Spinat als Beilage.

Never again! Completely ignorant and arrogant. A place was reserved weeks in advance with the note “please outside if the weather is good”. The same thing was mentioned again in the morning when we were called to confirm our reservation. On arrival: the shop is 2/3 empty, there are endless free tables outside or at least at the open window. But we get a “table almost by the window” (original sound). As if you had to be grateful for the fact that you basically have to sit alone in a dark restaurant in the best summer weather😂😂🤷‍♂️ We then just left and definitely won't be coming back!

It was a wonderful evening, with very good service. The quality of the products is excellent and we were also given good advice when choosing. The portion size is reasonable for the price. We were well advised when choosing the wine, and the service was very attentive when refilling the wine. It was a perfect evening that will definitely be repeated.

An absolutely bad joke. I came down the stairs and asked a gentleman who was drinking wine with guests (mustache) if he had a table for us, I emphasized that we had a stroller with us, he said yes, we only had one inside because we were very hungry I quickly fetched the family from upstairs with a stroller. Instead of a waiter helping to carry the stroller, the manager, who was busy drinking wine, looked around stupidly and said "oh no" seriously in front of other guests who weren't coming seriously with the stroller" The stroller costs more than the average salary of any waiter, and our bill was €800! Now comes the crowning glory: the “operations manager” puts us directly in the aisle with a stroller and asks whether we can get a table where the stroller doesn't bother us, even though we have to sit inside in an empty restaurant at 30 degrees. The young trainee freaked out and didn't want to serve us anymore. The only good thing is the food - but not worth the price, I would give you the tip, come to Hamburg and take a look at the Theos Steakhouse! Let's see if you continue to be so arrogant towards families and strollers. The owner should urgently relieve the wine drinker with a mustache from the burden of having to “work”. Work should be fun, not drunk ;-)

Very tasty food and ambience. The price is already more expensive, but you also have to expect city center prices here. But the taste can definitely keep up.

Disappointing. We went to eat here on the recommendation of “best steak in Berlin”. It wasn't the service. Not jovial, not polite… rather arrogant. We attempted to talk, but the server in question was very rude. During the shift, the servers SHIFTED, LIFTED TABLES AND CONVERTED THE RESTAURANT. This completely clashed with the “class” that the restaurant wanted to radiate. Then the servers came and grabbed plates, empty glasses and etc. at every turn. And they were very clearly pushing sales of drinks. We have years of experience in the catering and restaurant sector, this was scandalous. The highlight was that in this “class restaurant” you are expected to give money to the toilet lady. Excuse me?! The food was okay. But the price does not match the quality and experience expected. We were so disappointed after our visit, paid and will never go back.

The food was really very good, even if the price was on the threshold. We often go to very good restaurants and are happy to pay more for a good meal! The quality was really very good, but we ate comparably well and didn't pay quite as much. Personally, I don't like the atmosphere that much. The tables are simply placed too close together and it bothers me a lot when I have to listen to all the conversations at the next table. The service is friendly.

A nice spot that we were told has a reputation for being one of the bets steakhouses in Berlin. The steaks are excellent, the service was on point and the atmosphere was pleasant. We tried a variety of steaks and starters to share as it was our first time and it was not disappointing.

Tried it a third time and was disappointed again. The prices are really high for what you get. I had to wait just over an hour for my €127 T-bone steak… The meat was lukewarm, as was the stone it was on. In terms of taste, it wasn't my thing, but it was dry aged for the first time, so I won't know until tomorrow whether it was bad or just not my cup of tea. My colleague didn't like it either and had the meat taken off his bill when he complained. That's fair! But I just kept quiet because, as I mentioned, I was unsure. That will just clear up when my stomach finally tells me its opinion. In both cases I will refrain from doing so in the future. The taste, service, price and waiting time just put me off.

We had reserved for 10 and due to sickness we were 6 people. We had to pay for a fixed menu and had plenty of wine. The service was terrible. Despite the upscale venue and expensive wine selection the service was still terrible. The meat was well done instead of medium rare. We poured our own wine, which is fine if the bill would not come with a mandatory 10% tip despite very poor service. Too bad but not coming back.

Wanting to write about the Grill Royal automatically brings the author into the conflict of separating the ambience and audience from the core competence of a restaurant, i.e. the proper preparation of high-quality food and the associated service. I've visited the grill probably 10 times now and now I want to try it. I always feel like going on the grill when I want a nice piece of meat. Last time it was the porterhouse for 2 people (1,100 gr.), which came to the table in really great quality. Crispy on the outside browned with high heat, on the inside - at least for us - medium-rare - which for me guarantees the highest level of meat enjoyment. Side dishes and sauces are ordered separately for all meat dishes. A freshly whipped, airy Bernaise and mashed potatoes were our side dishes of choice. Another table guest had the filet mignon from Simmental beef and this was also prepared to perfection, the meat was of outstanding quality. I had already enjoyed the Sardinian pulpo (spicy) as starters and recently the marinated yellowtail mackerel as sashimi. The pear and fennel salad impresses with a great combination of flavors. The artichoke is also a delight as a starter. As an aperitif, the bar prepares a good Bloody Mary or the 'dry' vodka martini cocktail was exactly what I wanted, at least. An extensive wine list leaves nothing to be desired. As far as the audience is concerned, the Grill Royal is undeniably an in-location. A beautiful, stylishly decorated large room with a really large number of staff who also take great care to ensure that each table is individually and correctly lit. Guests sit here who, on the one hand, want to be seen and show what they have, and on the other hand, there are also those who want to see what they have. Then there are those contemporaries who everyone knows and are at least certain that they will not be spoken to or will receive unobtrusive service. If you don't mind such vanity and are a self-confident guest looking for a nice piece of meat or fish, then you've come to the right place. But there is no denying that you should put a little money here. I would be over the thumb with €100 per person. with a full dinner. I personally appreciate the professionalism of the concept and the operators and the quality offered. Oh yes, the sister restaurant, the Pauly-Saal, has a star in the Michelin Guide. The operators know how it works...

Price and quality are absolutely disproportionate. You notice that this is all about seeing and being seen. There were two of us there, ordered a moderate amount and paid €400 - that wouldn't be a problem if the quality and service were right. You are constantly being served by a different service person. In other locations in this league you will be guided through the evening by a waiter from start to finish (that would at least be expected here). Conclusion: overhyped

What else can I say.. I was here today with my son, who had serious brain surgery four days ago and is sitting here with me today! Thanks for that!!! And we are in this restaurant, just on the top shelf!!!! Excellent service, thanks to Nouri and his colleagues. When you have such a staff, you no longer have to worry. Super friendly, special requests are fulfilled,... For food: 6 out of 5 stars... We'll be back, 100%

All on point, amazing food, location perfect, unfortunately we had a rude Italian waiter (Alessandro) that didn’t make our experience excellent. Shame that in a place like this having this kind of attitude. Beside this all the rest of the team really lovely people. Really recommended 👍🏽

I was there with a friend. The service employee was horror! First of all, REALLY arrogant just because we weren't rich bastards like everyone else? Secondly, the meal took a long time, thirdly, we gave him a tip, the employee just looked at us strangely and didn't really thank us! Never again. Arrogant employees

My friends and I were really looking forward to this restaurant and to be honest, we expected a lot of positive things. Unfortunately, most of the evening was the complete opposite. When our waiter took our order he was already in a bad mood, but we didn't think anything of it, but when we saw that he was much more polite to the other guests we quickly realized what kind of person is wanted. The food wasn't really the best either - it's very overrated. The steak was ordered medium and arrived raw and bloody and it lay alone on the plate without any salad or anything like that, as you usually eat with your eyes - especially at this price. You could tell that the waiter didn't want to serve us. Strangely enough, the lighter-toned guests were properly served while we 3 young people were stared at with prejudiced looks. When we paid, we tipped the waiter despite the poor service. We didn't receive a thank you or a goodbye or anything else. He quickly ran away without comment. Perfect place. Choice of meat for every taste. Good service! We were a big group and tried an assortment of steaks, so to speak, and we managed to try a lot and a little bit at a time. And it was a great decision! Non-meat eaters will also have something to enjoy - fish and shrimp. The restaurant itself is located on the embankment and in summer, in good weather, you can sit outside. I liked everything very much!

One time and never again. While the food was solid, the service was severely lacking. There was a waiter who was very rude. He spoke very disrespectfully, where you can hear Berlin slang. Immediately after dessert we were shooed away by the waiter because they needed the table even though there were plenty of other tables. Overall, Grill Royal needs to seriously improve its service. Even the best food can't make up for feeling undervalued as a customer. I won't be returning anytime soon.

This might be the best meat I've ever eaten. The atmosphere is amazing. The Letouche salad and the shrimp are both very good. The staff are nice
