Came here to eat delicious food but the staff was impolite, especially the administrator, an elderly woman. We turned around and left.

Yes, if you want good food, this is the place for you. Pre-order and be happy to follow a recommendation from the trained staff.

We had a business lunch. The food wasn't quite appropriate for the price. Had a lobster salad, a fillet steak and creme brulee. The food was good. But the whole time I had the feeling that it was more about seeing and being seen. What didn't work at all was the toilet attendant. How can it be that you still have to pay in the toilet in such an explosively expensive restaurant? That doesn't work at all and I've never experienced it before. I actually wanted to give it four stars but it was only three stars. D

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Service was outstanding. The food amazing, each dish was better than the last. Meal was served perfectly timed not rushed but everything just in time. This is a must stop for fine dining in Berlin.

I leave 5 stars because the quality of the meat is actually the best I ate in Berlin in 1 week. However, a few notes: Accessibility is not for everyone, but don't be fooled by the prices: meat that costs exaggeratedly is a bait (trap) for the rich; you can eat very well for €100 each. anything in excess of this fee will not enhance your experience. Every dish we ate lived up to expectations, from the appetizer to the meat to the dessert; the latter may seem cheap compared to the rest of the menu, but it is delicious; let the staff advise you. Having said that, the experience is undoubtedly positive, and I would repeat it without hesitation; however I underline the attention to the price; everything you find is of good quality and cooked well, so take what you can in relation to your pockets, if you can afford it, exaggerate, otherwise stick to the average price and you will still be satisfied. However, give it a chance if your budget allows it, you will be as satisfied as I am!

I can share the bad experiences in the comments - which I have now read through after our visit yesterday: - The reception was nice - It's very loud, stressful and confusing in the store - The service was soooo bad!!! Slow, arrogant and unkempt - the meat was quite good, but the rest was very bland and simple like the spinach or the buratta starter - the food is so carelessly prepared and served (like in a canteen) The prices are definitely not justified! At the end I saw the chef eating in the open kitchen while he was cooking So we'll never go there again, Berlin has much better offers!

Great service, but unfortunately not enough time to enjoy Overall, the visit to the Grill Royal was pleasant - the service in particular was really first-class: attentive, friendly and always on hand without seeming intrusive. The food was okay, solid quality, although not quite at the level you would expect given the price level and what you know from previous visits. Unfortunately, the kitchen was a bit slow on our evening, so we didn't have the opportunity for dessert at the end despite the 2-hour time slot provided by the restaurant - a shame because we were looking forward to it. All in all, a stylish evening with great service, but some room for improvement when it comes to organization and skills in the kitchen.

As a native of Berlin, this restaurant was one of my favorite places for a long time. I have spent many lovely evenings there over the years with delicious food, good wine, warm service and a pleasant crowd. Unfortunately, the picture changed completely on my last visit. The meat was “okay”, the wines were overpriced, the service was inattentive and not very friendly. Price-performance is no longer right at all - and unfortunately the audience has also changed negatively. It's a shame - but for me the shop has completely lost its charm and I definitely won't go there again...

The red shrimp is delicious, the white asparagus is delicious, and the T-bone steak is grilled to perfection. Desserts and coffee are not that good.

A fantastic evening at Grill Royal! The beef fillet steak was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy and full of flavor. There was also perfectly cooked broccoli and fresh green asparagus - both crunchy and aromatic, without any frills, but prepared to the highest standard. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the drink “Gin Basil” – fresh, balanced and absolutely recommended as a start to dinner. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was, as always, stylish and inviting. A culinary highlight in Berlin – I’m already looking forward to the next time!

Very tasty food in a very nice atmosphere. Located directly on the Spree in the sous terrain, the Grill royal is within walking distance of the S-BAHN Friedrichstrasse. Reservations are recommended although there is seating for 240. The food and service was impeccable. Only the volume is quite high when all seats are occupied. The modern yet classic decor fits the restaurant perfectly. I also recommend taking a look at the large BBQ kitchen through the large glass wall. Very beautifully done and impressive how the kitchen team has everything under control professionally. A not exactly cheap but absolutely recommendable location for a great dinner in Berlin. Have fun and enjoy your meal.

When we made the reservation, we weren’t given the option to choose a table by the window. Upon arriving at the restaurant at 5:00 PM—our reserved time—we asked for a window seat. Unfortunately, after an hour and 40 minutes of being there and already having paid the bill, we were pressured to leave because the next guests had arrived, despite several other empty tables being available. That said, the food was very good. The meat portion was quite small and took 45 minutes to arrive, likely because I ordered it medium-well. The lettuce salad was incredibly fresh and delicious. However, the sides and sauces to accompany the meat are charged separately. There’s no music, and the service is just average.

Unfortunately, it's bad compared to the Hamburger Grill Royal. When we arrived there was total chaos at the entrance. Several employees tried to simultaneously serve guests who wanted to leave with their jackets and also greet new guests. We were asked three times by different people in which name we had reserved. Only the third one came back to us at some point. We were asked to wait at the bar for a moment - no problem, we were a little early (around 15 minutes). But there are no bar stools at this bar, you feel like you're standing in the middle of the room and in the middle of everyone else's path. Unfortunately, the bar staff didn't proactively offer us a drink. Not super bad, but not super hospitable either. When we asked, we were told that Ruinart wasn't run... not really a criticism, but it did surprise us in a restaurant like this. And then we stood there for another 20 minutes while you could look at the plates at the tables in the front row. You also get a first impression of the clientele in this store. Wannabe snot in an Asian look. With your feet on the benches and talking loudly on the phone so that everyone can hear how horny you are. I wouldn't tolerate it in my restaurant, but here people like that are greeted with kisses. Unpleasant. So after waiting for what felt like an eternity, we were finally shown to our table, which, like many other tables, was already free and set when we arrived. I don't understand why we couldn't sit down beforehand. I like to wait at the table for a while, it's not an eating contest, but standing around for no reason is just unnecessary. The waiters were nice and tried hard, but unfortunately it seemed a bit like mass processing. The atmosphere is not as cozy, the staff is not as approachable as we are used to. Overall it just seems less inviting. Unfortunately, the menu also differs somewhat from that in Hamburg, including in terms of quality. Fish and meat were ok, but not a revelation. Side dishes are fine. Mousse au Chocolat is worlds apart. We love going out and maybe we're too spoiled by the experience at Hamburger Grill Royal, but it just seems to be getting a bit old in all aspects. Too bad!

A very stylish and beautiful restaurant by the river. All the food we ate was delicious, the meat was very nice and they cooked it the way you want it. You can end the beautiful night with the last delicious point with cream brule. The staff is very attentive and smiling.

I was visiting with a work colleague last week. The two of us spent around 450 euros and after around 2 1/2 hours we were asked to come to the end because the table had to be given to new guests. Unfortunately, for what you would expect from an establishment of this status, it falls far short of expectations. The food was reasonable for the price, but we also felt rushed during the visit. The starters were already picked up and served when we were not even half finished with the aperitif etc. I don't think it's recommended, especially given what we spent that evening.

My absolute highlight was the artichoke! But from lobster to beef fillet, everything tasted great.

No1 in Berlin, no questions asked

I was there with my girls, it was a nice evening. The food was very good, especially the side dishes. The meat is also very tasty. The waiters were very stressed. It was a Friday evening and therefore very crowded and loud.

I have had the GR recommended several times. Steak and service was good, but a bit weird around it. No privacy as the tables feel 20cm apart, cleaning lady with money on plates in front of the toilet, Berghain scarf on the wall…

I like Grill Royal. Food is always good. Always maintain the quality. Service is fine, no long waiting. Sometime can be too loud, and summer can be very warm inside.. It’s pricy place but I like the easy vibe. Easy going. I always had a good time. juicy steaks, well cook, seafoods are also fresh and tasty. Side dishes were good. Nothing to complain. If the lady room had better vibe, it would be PERFECT.

I have been coming here for many years for stable quality and quality food that doesn't try to be anything but quality food. No unnecessary Blabla and presentation, rather just well handled ingredients and on the point cooked. Honest straightforward Berlin style service, which is for me more enjoyable than other restaurants in that price range, I like eating well, but I don't need my boots licked. The annoying thing for me is all the people going there to be posh, that's ruining the place. It's becoming louder and louder and more like a pub, and more fake hairline and fake boobs showing off kinda place if you know what I mean (no offense to boobs:) But I do like to eat here, because eating food, well prepared at a stable quality isn't the common Berlin thing. Do avoid weekends if you think of any setting that's remotely cozy. So oder so wenigstens geht man hier nicht nach 8 Gängen nochmal zum dönner neben an weil man noch hungrig ist wie in andren Restaurants:)

If you want to experience something extraordinary, this is the right place! A comprehensive, diverse wine list and excellent food. Service excellent.

We visited last Friday At first the place look amazing But soon we just felt hot We ask the waitress a couple of timesif it is possible to lower the temperature, but nothing... We ordered stakes we ask for medium bet it was to cooked one was even more than we'll done. We slept out side to get some air And they cleared our plate without ever asking or wondering why we didn't finish. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and we end up serving ourselves. The price was astronomical for the quality of food and service. Sins nobody asked us if everything is OK and how was is we just paid the bill and left.

This is the canteen of the nouveau riche, wannabes and crypto boys. Staff unprofessional and far too present, meat very good. Ambience: loud and a bit hectic. You don't have to go back.

UPDATE 03/2025 I have visited the Grill Royal in Berlin several times and have been able to gain various experiences over the years. During my previous visits a few years ago I was rather disappointed with the service. The staff at that time consisted mostly of students who didn't seem very professional. Instead of concentrating on the guests, they had loud private conversations, which disrupted the atmosphere. In addition, the quality of the meat was not always convincing - there were cases in which the meat was rather disappointing, be it in terms of taste or in terms of preparation. It is all the more pleasing that the Grill Royal has improved significantly recently. On my recent visits, the service was consistently attentive, professional and yet pleasantly reserved - just the right balance for an upscale restaurant. The staff seemed well trained and committed, which had a positive effect on the entire experience. Particularly noteworthy is the quality of the meat, which is now absolutely first class. Every bite was a delight, perfectly prepared and of excellent provenance. Overall, in my opinion, the restaurant has developed very positively. The trend is clearly upwards and I look forward to hopefully continuing to experience this high level on future visits. Many thanks to the team for the positive development! ____ FROM 2022 Unfortunately overall a disappointment. Starters were a good size and tasted good. The main course was the porterhouse steak. Very nicely prepared. However, the quality of the meat was shockingly poor. Some of it was so covered in silver skin that it was inedible. The fat content was also extremely high, so that in the end only around 300-400 grams were actually edible. For a 165 EUR piece of meat I would have expected completely perfect meat. What was also negative was the ridiculous capacity (100ml) for a glass of wine (7 EUR). The service was okay overall. However, the whole thing had the appearance of a student bar, as the employees (also directly at the table) were constantly having private conversations with each other. You also have to like the consistently casual style. I can't judge whether this is suitable, but I think that many people would expect a different service. Conclusion: I have eaten many, much cheaper, and better steaks. In addition, the service does not fit into such a price segment.

TL:DR Summary: great meal and would go back. Food: awesome. The grilled prawns were amazing, perfect bite. Lettuce was tasty but somewhat overwhelming. Steaks were perfectly cooked to order and condiments a great addition to the meal. Wine: awesome. Sommelier guided our selection. They were on top of serving and topping up. Atmosphere: The only thing I will mention here is that the place does not have great acoustics. It was loud and despite sitting at the same table we had to speak up properly to have a conversation. The restaurant is a rather large open space, meaning there's not a lot of intimacy. Tables are close together also.

Very attentive service, the starters were great, the main courses were “normally” good, but really nothing special for the price. The ambience: well, the tables are tightly spaced with a high number of guests, normal conversation is hardly possible due to the enormous noise in the restaurant. Overall: rather overrated restaurant for the “everything at its finest” clientele

It is a wonderful restaurant. We were there about a week ago, we thought it was exceptional. An incredible meal as well as the attention and atmosphere of said restaurant. 100% recommended and I assure you that we will return. We dined here for the first time based on recommendations from friends and they were not wrong - what a great place. The service is great, the staff is actually very friendly, and professional throughout. We tried bone in NY strip, ribeyes and filets and all were cooked exactly like we asked for. There were two of us there today and we were thrilled. Service was nice, at eye level and extremely friendly. Ceviche as a starter was a dream, and the lobster salad was also convincing. The two of us had the Chateaubriand, the best quality meat I have ever eaten. As side dishes we had fries, beetroot, broccoli, herb butter, steak sauce and pepper jus. Everything was super tasty. The espresso at the end was also very good. The price is certainly high, but you can treat yourself to it once a year, as a highlight or for a special occasion.

A very good steakhouse, the most famous in Berlin, but after eating in American steakhouses, you will think that this place is really okay. It is okay to have it occasionally for celebrations. The atmosphere and service are very good.

Hello everyone, The Grill Royal in Berlin enjoys the reputation of an upscale steakhouse and lives up to this claim in many ways. The staff is extremely professional and attentive: as soon as you enter the restaurant you are warmly welcomed, given your coat and quickly shown to a table. Orders are taken promptly, recommendations are made, and empty plates are discreetly cleared away. The cleanliness and order should also be emphasized - the table was immaculately set, which left a positive first impression. The cuisine is presented at the highest level. As a starter I chose a mushroom consommé that tasted right on point: intense, harmonious and with a fine balance of flavors. For the main course, I unfortunately had to forego the Kobe beef fillet as it was no longer available on a Friday evening, shortly after opening - a clear weak point for a steak restaurant of this caliber. Instead, I opted for a Chateaubriand (500 g), which impressed with its excellent preparation: perfectly cooked medium, tender and infused with fine roasted aromas. The accompaniments – crispy, golden-brown French fries, creamy potato mousseline and aromatic roasted broccoli – were generous and of outstanding quality. Particularly noteworthy are the truffle jus, which skilfully accompanied the meat, and the truffle mayo, which gave the fries a special note. The dessert, a Barre de Chocolat with raspberry ganache, Sacher sponge cake, chocolate mousse and raspberry sorbet, was a successful conclusion. The sorbet in particular impressed with its intense freshness and perfect consistency. The bill reflected the high quality: I paid 179.50 euros for my menu, consisting of a starter, main course with side dishes, dessert, a bottle of water and an aperitif. The price is justified given the gastronomic level and professional service. Summary Despite the outstanding cuisine and excellent service, there is one major point of criticism: the atmosphere. The restaurant is very noisy, which is due to the dense seating, the busy activity of the staff and the rearranging of tables and chairs. The constant hustle and bustle disrupts the ambience considerably and spoils the enjoyment of the food. Compared to other upscale steak restaurants, for example in Hamburg, the Grill Royal seems less inviting and relaxing. While the dining experience at this restaurant is of the highest standard, I would be unlikely to return there again due to the restless atmosphere. A visit is worthwhile for gourmets who appreciate excellent food - but the Grill Royal offers little peace and quiet for a relaxed evening.

Once in the grill = a must. Super delicious food, fantastic drinks and very friendly, attentive service. But the most exciting thing is almost the goings-on in the restaurant itself: the large, open shop means you can (if you want) hear a lot about the other guests. And that's better than cinema.

A little bit fancy place to go out for dinner, with something for every taste. The food is good, but to be honest, the steak is always a bit over-seared on the outside for my liking—it’s just not my style. However, my friend enjoyed it, so it might depend on personal preference. Still, it’s a nice spot to go out, have a relaxing dinner, and chat with friends.

Mega! An absolute hot spot for me - still, after all these years - in Berlin! Anyone who works for such a long time at such a top level deserves an Order of Merit here in Austria - I could also recommend it to my German friends. A MUST on every visit to Berlin!

The restaurant impresses with a very nice ambience, delicious food and is definitely one of the best in Berlin. In terms of price, it is on the higher end, but this is justified by the excellent quality of the food. Particularly noteworthy is the Kobe fillet – simply incredibly delicious! A small suggestion for improvement: a little background music would have rounded off the experience so that you don't notice the conversations from the next table so clearly. Nevertheless, a restaurant that can be recommended without reservation.

Cannot fault the food it was wonderful, the steaks were sublime. I wanted to be able to say the evening was perfect, for that to happen the serving staff need to make the guests feel welcome and smile a little more rather than make you feel you were lucky they're serving you.

It is one of my absolute favorite restaurants and we eat here very regularly. I have never been disappointed or dissatisfied with anything. The ambience is always stylish, the service confident and first-class and the food is really very good. Of course, the steaks in all variations are particularly recommended here 👌🏼 Every visit is a taste experience...

Ich und meine Eltern und meine Geschwister sind dort sehr oft und es schmeckt wie immer köstlich 😋 am beste finde ich das Fleisch da und die Pommes aber ist gibts auch noch vieles mehr als Beilagen und als Hauptgericht und Nachtisch gibts auch natürlich nur zur Empfehlen

Not sure what the hype is about this place. Everyone in Berlin points you to Grill Royale, Borchard and Paris Bar. Is there anything else in this big city?! - My first time at Grill Royale was mediocre. Coat check staff probably needs another round of training. Waiting staff very friendly and well trained. Steak was ordered medium but didn‘t come as medium. They have alternative dish to the steak which is a duck and which was sold out at 5pm on a weekend?! Atmosphere was very stiff. Base of the tables are so big that one foot rests on the base and the other on the floor. There is a toilet lady charging money and offering a basket of mars candy. Is this satire?

We visited here yesterday for my parents' golden wedding anniversary. The food was excellent. The side dishes (which had to be ordered separately) were not sufficient and the table assignment was a complete disgrace. The table was ordered for 6 people, one person stayed home sick, so we were given a table for 4 and the 5th person sat as a side table in the aisle. Uncomfortable and inappropriate would be a friendly way to put it. Everyone enjoyed the food and it was good. After 2 hours we were asked to clear the table. Everything is a bit inappropriate for the targeted class, which is not achieved here.

Unfortunately, I think the reality doesn't live up to the reputation. The steak was more of a BlockHouse chain level. Especially with the side dishes, you couldn't shake the feeling that the chef had a salt allergy. The only thing that definitely stood out, and by miles, was the roasted red shrimp.

Expectations were fully met. Meat chosen: NY Strip aged on the bone, cooked just as requested, delicious salad, excellent wine and cocktails. Precise and punctual service, super clean bathrooms. Really nice bar area, the rest of the room looked after but nothing special.

More appearance than reality. From unjustified prices to arrogant service that takes orders incorrectly, everything is there. Carelessly prepared and not exactly clean cutlery/plates. Very noisy restaurant and the feel-good factor is not there. Berlin has so much more to offer than that. Do you need to know...

After being here for the first time more than ten years ago and leaving in total disappointment (bad service, several dishes not available, uncomfortable atmosphere) I have come here several times over the years. While the food was always pretty good, the service was sometimes hit and miss. This time it was perfect from the beginning. From the reconfirmation of the reservation yesterday morning by a very friendly gentleman, to the welcome in the restaurant to the great table and the flawless, attentive service to the great food we utterly enjoyed the evening. We had the whole lettuce and the delicious prawns as a starter, then the lobster (the best I have eaten in a long time) and a steak with fries and the delicious gratin. We also ordered a lovely bottle of Riesling which fit perfectly. Well done Grill Royal, we definitely will come back soon.

The food tasted average. The ambience was nothing special and it got very loud (Sunday 8 p.m.). Tables are very close to each other. There is no permanent service person per table.

It was a really nice and very successful evening yesterday! The Kobe steak was delicious, as was the rest of the food. The service and staff were very polite. Particularly noteworthy is a very tall, slim young man at the reception or at the cloakroom. Thank you for the great evening!

We celebrated my birthday here. The food and ambience exceeded our expectations. But Conny really made the evening perfect. She impressed us with her warm manner and her appropriate recommendations.

For the second time in a row, we didn't get the cooking level we ordered. Hollandaise comes in egg cup size. Beaten so foamy that the contents can hardly be found on the plate. That was different, see photo. New bottle of wine, no query whether new glasses. Oh well.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the quality and service in this restaurant. Although I have had good experiences in the past, the situation has deteriorated significantly. The service was almost non-existent - the waiter barely looked after our table and was clearly overwhelmed or inattentive. After placing my order, I was never served my food. Only after a long wait and repeated requests was a new serving brought to me, but there were problems here too. What was particularly noticeable was that the waiters generally seemed unfocused and often didn't show themselves, even if guests had further requests. There was no organization or sign of effort to please the guests. For me the service was not only bad, but simply unacceptable. As far as the quality of the food is concerned, it was also no longer at the level that I was used to. The dishes seemed carelessly prepared and there were no highlights in terms of taste either. For the price I expect a lot more. I am currently questioning whether I will visit this restaurant again. The service needs to improve significantly, as does the quality of the food, to win me back as a guest. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it in its current form. I wouldn't have expected such an experience and I think it's a shame that the standard has dropped so much.

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin with fine cuisine. The food is wonderful, especially the Wagyu. We always like coming here and like the atmosphere, as well as the extremely good service and of course the delicious food. The seats by the window are the most beautiful - we think 🥰

An evening at Grill Royal is like a vacation for the soul! Are you in the mood for excellent steak, incomparably good wine and an evening in a great ambience? Then you've come to the right place at Grill Royal. Hardly any other restaurant is so excellent in terms of service and food - if you haven't been here yet, definitely try it - you will be amazed! Be sure to try the steak, also to share. We also particularly recommend the lettuce with a great vinaigrette, the perfectly baked fries with Bernaise sauce (great combination), and the divine chocolate mousse to end a wonderful evening. A very special thank you to Schubi and Nikolaus - your service is second to none! I'm already looking forward to my next visit with you!

It all started with a booking error on my part, followed by a professional and friendly solution from the staff. Now to the restaurant. Nice ambience and great food. What more could you want?

Great cooked meat, great service

Probably the best restaurant in Berlin! It was an amazing experience that I highly recommend!

The steaks were amazing. The kobe beef was one of the best I've had - especially with the wasabi. The other cuts were also very premium and well cooked. However, the service was extremely poor, especially for a restaurant at this price level. We had to ask twice for the bill and the waiter was extremely impatient, refusing to offer any meaningful suggestions.

Our waitress Conny made our whole evening so much better and I would come here again just for her. It was our first time here and she walked us through the whole menu and recommended the best of the best. The food was super tasty and the meat was very tender. A bit noisy for me personally, but the service was just perfect. Thank you for this lovely evening :)

The food and service were of course beyond reproach, but that's to be expected given the price. What I actually don't understand is that there's a toilet lady sitting there with plates. If necessary, increase the hourly wage adequately? In any case, I always come to this place like I'm in the cheapest store in town.
