Is it too much to ask to adjust your opening hours when the season is over?

Wir sind zum Mittagessen ins Kreta gegangen. Zuerst waren wir etwas skeptisch. Das äußere lädt nicht unbedingt zum Eintreten ein. Auch innen ist es einfach. Das Essen aber war überraschend gut. Die Portionen waren reichlich und haben sehr gut geschmeckt und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war absolut in Ordnung.

Super tasty, nice service, would be happy again

Contrary to all the bad opinions and reviews, I can now add my two cents. From the reception, to the food and the absolutely warm, hospitable manner, I can't find anything negative. The food was plentiful and super tasty. We also really enjoyed the encores and rounded off tonight's evening satisfactorily. We would be happy to stop by again when we are on the island. In short, it's worth a visit!!!

Delicious food on the North Sea island of Wangerooge!

When we came in we were greeted warmly and given a seat outside. Since my grandma was cold, we quickly got a seat inside upon request. The restaurant was nice but simply designed as was the staff, who were very friendly to us. The food was great and gave you a great impression of Greek cuisine.

No thanks, not again. Maps urgently need to be redone, nor is there a nice atmosphere to sit in. Ketchup is charged extra. Eating... well... hunger drives it in!

We ate gyros with minced meat for 21 euros, I only know that with tzatziki. I had to order this separately for 6 euros. The portion was very manageable. The table was very sticky and the women's toilet was very dirty. The ambience could also be worked on.

Great restaurant with friendly staff. The food was very tasty. There was even ouzo and a dessert “on the house”. The prices were reasonable. Around €20 per dish. Very fair and you get full.

Wir waren mittags in dem Restaurant. Das Essen war klasse. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Freundliches Personal. Wir bekamen sogar einen Nachtisch gratis. Auch dieses war sehr lecker. Der Grieche ist wirklich zu empfehlen.

We were in the restaurant at lunchtime. The food was great. Very good value for money. Friendly staff. We even got dessert for free. This was also very tasty. The Greek is really recommended.

We ate there today! Great service, large portions, tastes super delicious! There's even dessert on the house! Can be recommended with a clear conscience. Inside the ambience is very nice, bright and modern. The “terrace” has different seating options, which didn’t bother us as it was clean!

Aufgrund der guten Bewertungen haben wir uns auf den Griechen gefreut. Da wir von den Inselrestaurants eher enttäuscht wurden, sind wir auch hier mit wenigen Erwartungen gekommen. Und wurden dann doch sehr enttäuscht. Es gab einen kleinen Beilagensalat welcher in einem undefinierten Dressing ertränkt wurde (Mischung aus Thousand Island und American Dressing). Der Chef behauptet : alles selber gemacht und nahm mich mit in die Küche. Tatsächlich wurde Industrie-Mayonnäse mit Industrie-Ketchup und Trockenkräuter gemischt. Selbstgemacht ist wohl was anderes!!! Tzatziki hatte auch nichts mit „griechisch“ zu tun. Es fehlte die Schlangengurke und ein wenig Knoblauch. Ich denke, dass kann jeder besser zu Hause. Die Portionen waren sehr klein. Wirklich satt, geht man hier nicht nach Hause. Es war wieder eine Erfahrung : einmal und nicht wieder.

We were at the Kreta restaurant in August 2024. The food tastes very good and the service is extremely friendly. However, we would definitely not come back. The objectively cheap prices are immediately put into perspective when you get the food. The amount is bordering on insolent. I have never had so little on a plate in a restaurant. Elsewhere, something like this would have been an appetizer. We would have preferred to pay more and be full.

I have often been here before and was now looking forward to eating something here again after a long time. Unfortunately, after today I can only advise against it... We had reserved a table at the beginning of the day, but were then seated in the middle of the hustle and bustle without even listening to us. Afterwards we were ignored for 15 minutes while others who came after us were served. At the back of the card it also says that there is no card payment, which isn't a bad thing, but it isn't mentioned anywhere, which might put some people in an unfortunate situation. Luckily the team here is extremely cool! Our food came relatively quickly after we ordered, but far too small for these high prices (over 21 euros for what is known as a senior's plate in other restaurants)! I also have to say that the chicken breast is even more peppery than the prices! Pretty inedible... This time there was no trace of the gift from the house that is typical for this Greek. After waiting some more, I was finally able to say that I wanted to pay, which was forgotten at the same moment. But the second time it worked. When I added my money to the bill and tried for ages to ask the boss personally (who also served us) for my change by making eye contact, I was skillfully ignored again. It wasn't until I got up that the boss came and immediately took the note without giving any change, let alone saying goodbye, which none of the employees felt was necessary. In short: - Very expensive - Ignorant and rude service - Food no longer edible All in all, very unfortunate and sad. You have to know.

Rather intimidating from the outside, but the food is really okay. We can't confirm an "incredibly warm atmosphere", but the service was friendly and, in a way that's not typical of the island, fairly nice. Ouzo was also available for free and we were satisfied and full afterwards.

Very nice staff and an excellent atmosphere, however the food was way too salty, sadly couldn't finish it. This was applicable for the salad and the meat dishes. Would still recommend if you want to have a nice evening!

Very nice staff, they always asked you if everything would be okay. The atmosphere is very nice and you can sit outside and enjoy nature. The toilets were very clean, although a bit old, but that's not a bad thing. All in all it was a very nice stay.

How you imagine a Greek restaurant: Great service, large portions, with an ouzo at the forefront. My kids' order changes were responded to very well. I had a Crete mix that didn't completely convince me of the taste of the meat. But the liver was great. A nice surprise was a dessert on the house and the extra ouzo afterwards. Unfortunately only cash payment.

We were lured by the reviews. The food and ambience are subterranean. Frozen schnitzel with fries for the kids. Half raw gyros and overpriced. There is no indication that only cash payment and no ouzo or dessert on the house. Handwritten invoice whereby we (realized at home) paid too much.

We were tempted by the good reviews to eat here. We were there in the evening. It was very crowded. There were a lot of unwashed glasses on the counter. The service was very stressful. We had to wait for our table then the table was wiped down. We were allowed to sit down. After we ordered, the drinks came quickly. Ouzo was previously available on the house There was a small side salad with it. This was placed on the table as we passed Portions were sufficient but not more. Gyros unfortunately very sticky / bacony, unfortunately not crispy at all. There were no onions with the gyro. Zaziki would have to be ordered separately. This consisted mainly of dill Fries tasted like grease. The rice was tomato rice. Service was very rare. Often walked past but didn't take empty plates or glasses with them until late. When we wanted to pay we waited even longer for “dessert”. It was apparently homemade (like little quark balls, not so sweet) There was a lollipop for the child. No reason for us to come back again. Gyros souflaki with fries and rice per portion (20€) Portion of fries without (€4.50) (no sauces were asked) Tzatziki (€6)

Feel free to reserve as it is usually full! Very tasty food, very friendly service. We always feel like regulars, even though we only come over once every few years 🥰 The portions seem small at first, but afterwards I'm always happy that it's not as huge as some other Greeks! It's still plentiful and, above all, very tasty! Then a delicious portion of fresh loukoumades (fried dough balls with honey and a touch of cinnamon) goes well afterwards. We always like to come back ❤️

The atmosphere is very warm and cozy! Service was such an indescribably beautiful experience! We were often offered ouzo by the boss, and at the end of the fantastic meal there was a sweet dessert on the house. The conversations with the waiters (the family business) were also great. When it suddenly rained, we were offered to just stay. ** If you want to go to Wangerooge you must have been to Crete once, because we will always make a detour to you in the future ** Thanks to you dear Crete team❤️

I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant and I absolutely love it! The Kretamix I ordered was simply fantastic – perfectly seasoned and wonderfully fresh. The portions were generous and really filling. A special highlight were the 4 shots of Ouzo per person (free of charge) - they rounded off the atmosphere perfectly. The waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. At the end there were fried quark balls or something like that. Overall, an outstanding experience that I would highly recommend to everyone. I will definitely come back!

The building doesn't make a good impression from the outside; a lot of things here need to be renovated. After making a reservation by telephone, we received a very friendly welcome one late afternoon. There was an ouzo as a welcome. The side salad was fresh and tasty. We had gyros with fries and rice. Contrary to some reviews, the portions were well sized, and this also applied to the seniors' plate. There was nothing to complain about in terms of taste, neither in the meat nor in the side dishes and drinks. At the end there was a sweet dessert from the house and another ouzo. The price-performance ratio is definitely okay here. We will be back.

We ate very well, received great service, and the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a delicious ouzu, the children got a nice alternative 😃.

Very friendly service and great food. It's a bit expensive, but that's probably due to its island location. The best gyros we've ever had. Delicious bedside table for free on the house. The atmosphere is not typically Greek but clean.

The evening started with 2 ouzo on the house, we ate 2 delicious gyros and at the end there was a dessert (without calories 😂) on the house. I can only recommend the restaurant to everyone.

Going out to eat in Crete, Wangerooge is always like coming home! Our family loves it there and when my granddaughter comes to the island, her first thought is: go to Crete! Of course we have already tried almost everything on the menu, saganaki(?) and lamb are my favorites!

Unfortunately my experience here wasn't that good. A real shame. I expected something different based on the many positive reviews. We were there with a larger group. Overall, my impression of the food was: below average and overpriced. The Greek salad with tuna or chicken was simply too expensive for what was on offer (>18€) and carelessly/simply prepared - it seemed like a canteen salad made from carelessly piled up ready-made components (actually like a double side salad without any originality in the presentation and selection). Ingredients). The baked sheep's cheese in tomato sauce was also carelessly prepared and had a bland taste. The size of the meat dishes also seemed like that of a senior citizen's plate, even though they were regular and correspondingly expensive dishes. Despite ouzo and a small dessert on the house (thanks to the house for that), we were left with a consistently disappointed impression of the dinner. So no recommendation for me. The evening before we had eaten much better directly in the city center.

The manager of the house served us very friendly and pleasantly. The very tasty food, freshly prepared, arrived quickly at our table. In contrast to many other restaurants in Wangerooge (plaice with boiled potatoes €33.50), the price for the food is reasonable.

Very nice restaurant. The Greek in the tennis hall is a bit out of the way. But totally worth it. Simple, friendly and good. The souvlaki with mushrooms are extremely delicious. A visit is highly recommended.

Our "first time" was a few years ago, and back then we were thrilled with the taste and the portions. The fact that there was also an ouzo and, above all, a small, very tasty dessert exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed for a few years, so we found ourselves standing in front of closed doors and had to satisfy our hunger elsewhere. I was even more pleased this year when we actually found the restaurant open again. And it was another wonderful evening with delicious food, and the little extras are still available (ouzo and small sweet dessert on the house) We paid €56 for 2 people with drinks and were very satisfied.

Freundliche Bedienung, reichlich Ouzo aufs Haus, Essen war lecker und reichlich, aber nix besonderes. Vom Ambiente her eher Bahnhofskneipe, alles sehr abgenutzt.

Kann schlechte Bewertungen hier nicht verstehen! Wir kommen seit Jahren zur Insel und sind immer einmal im Kreta. Die Portionen sind reichlich und sehr lecker. Nach dem Essen gibt es immer noch heiße Quarkbällchen auf Kosten des Hauses. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und gibt sein Bestes! Sehr zu empfehlen!!!

Glück gehabt, ohne Reservierung mit 3 Personen einen Tisch bekommen. Lokal war sehr voll, was ja schon für sich spricht und so war es auch.... Sehr freundlich bedient worden und das Essen war total lecker. Alles auf den Punkt gebraten und sehr schmackhaft angerichtet. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

2022 Leber gegessen, war sehr gut !! 2023 Leider keine Leber da, dafür aber super leckere Lammfilets gegessen. Dazu Ouzo und noch leckeren Nachtisch. Für mich der beste Grieche, Preis-Leistung ist prima und der Service ist sehr freundlich und gut. Bin super zufrieden.

Nettes Griechisches Restaurant. Essen war lecker. Das Tzatziki war super lecker. Leider war es gegen 19uhr sehr voll und der Service total überfordert und kam nicht nach. Man hat 15min auf die Getränkebestellung gewartet bis sie überhaupt aufgenommen wurde.Und danach nochmal knapp 50min auf die Hauptbestellung. Das Gemüse für den Auflauf war leider auch schon aus. Die Vorspeise hat auch länger gedauert. Auch nicht so toll war das auf der Terrasse Gäste geraucht haben und andere den Qualm dann in der Nase beim Essen hatten. Schon nicht so toll. Als Nachspeise gab es von Haus aus die Teigbällchen mit Honig. Das hat den Service dann schon ein wenig ausgeglichen. In allem war es ganz okay. Die Preise sind angemessen. Man sollte aber für abends unbedingt einen Platz reservieren.

Vorspeise waren gegrillte Peperoni. Waren zu scharf und ohne Soße oder Zaziki . Die Pommes sahen alt aus. Hatte ein Senioren Teller genommen weil der normal reicht aber war viel zu wenig. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Als ich das Restaurant von außen gesehen habe war ich erst im Zweifel hier einen Abend zu verbringen. Irgendwie ging mir durch den Kopf wenn ich in Griechenland wäre, würde ich keinen Gedanken darüber verlieren ob es hier von Einfachheit geprägt sei und habe mich entschlossen hier den Abend zu verbringen. Kurz um habe ich per Telefon einen Tisch reserviert. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, das Lokal und die Einrichtung schlicht mit überdachter Terasse. Kurz nach der Bestellung standen auch schon 2 Ouzo auf dem Tisch. Die Speisen waren gut, lecker, ausreichend und der Salat sehr frisch. Zum Ende des Menüs gab es noch einen Ouzo so wie einen Nachtisch vom Haus. Alles in allem war es ein sehr gelungener Abend. Ach und beim begleichen der Rechnungen gab es noch einen Ouzo oben drauf. Halt typisch griechische Gastfreundschaft.

Familienfreundlich geführtes Restaurant. Man merkt, das hier „Mutti“ in der Küche alles mit Liebe und frisch kocht. Waren mehrmals hier und haben verschiedene Essen probiert. Alles empfehlenswert. Der Chef kommt mit allen Gästen mittels Ouzo ins Gespräch. So kann man auf nette Weise auch für Umsatz sorgen. Und jeder erhält eine „kalorienarme“ kostenlose Nachspeise. Lecker und und natürlich ganz „ohne“ Kalorien. Wir kommen gerne wieder und sagen Efharistò!!!

Wir haben sehr lecker hier gegessen: Souflaki und Gyros mit Leber. Wir haben draußen gesessen (überdacht und mit transparenten Planen ausgestattete Terasse). Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder hier essen gehen.

Immer wenn ich auf Wangerooge bin, geh ich einmal ins Kreta und werde nie enttäuscht. Guter Sitzplatz auf der überdachten Außenterasse. Schneller Service durch den sehr freundlichen Chef. OUZO zur Begrüßung, OUZO zum Abschied. ESSEN , Gyros 1x mit, 1x ohne Zwiebeln, geschmacklich sehr gut, Portionen ausreichend. Zum Nachtisch kostenlos Loukoumades, griechische Hefebällchen mit Honig, sehr lecker. Weiter so, wir kommen wieder.

An sich war das Essen wunderbar. Unglaublich finde ich, dass auf Nachfrage nach etwas Tsatsiki ein ganzer Teller - ganz bestimmt nicht hausgemachtes - davon serviert wurde und dafür im Anschluss 5,50€ berechnet wurden. Das kriegt man besser hin. Die Bedienung freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente ist so, wie man sich es in einer Sporthallen-Gaststätte vorstellt.

Essen hat leider nachgelassen. War vor drei Jahren um ein Vielfaches besser. Neue Hilfsbedienungen, die mehr zusammen stehen und sich unterhalten anstatt zu erkennen, was beim Gast fehlt. Ziemlich lange Wartezeiten in Bezug auf Bestellaufnahme und auch das Bringen von Getränken und Essen. Ist halt eine Sporthallengaststätte. Außenbereich ist mit Zeltfolien wetterfest gemacht. Preislich ganz ok
