If you want to eat absolutely delicious goulash in a quaint location with original staff...there's nothing better. I simply love the place. I've only managed to eat there twice so far, but I'll definitely go again.

We had a wonderful evening with the world's best goulash and very friendly people. We'd love to come back!

A wonderful place. No menu; the host tells you what's available. The quality is excellent. The atmosphere is typical Eastern European from the 80s and 90s. Plus, there are some really cool posters on the walls. Highly recommended!

It's a small restaurant with interesting art inside. There's no official menu, but a waitress tells you what's on offer. We had: • Regular goulash, • Goulash with mushrooms and/or pickles • Goulash with jalapeño and feta Unfortunately, the wait was quite long. The food is generous and tasty, but the price is still quite high. We paid €24 for a goulash with pilsner, which means the whole goulash costs around €20. We don't regret our visit, but we wouldn't go back given the prices. What a shame!

The goulash and bread are truly a dream! We were there during the week and didn't need a reservation, even though the beer garden was already very busy. The chef is extremely friendly and was happy to explain the goulash and its ingredients to us. The only thing I would like to mention is that the portion size could be slightly larger, but I think you could easily get an extra dumpling or slice of bread ;-)

Super lecker, gerne immer wieder 🙏🏻 Essen immer frisch mit regionalen Zutaten und oft eine Auswahl an Tagesgerichten welche auch über Gulasch hinausgehen.

Nach wie vor lässt der Laden keine Wünsche offen. Gulasch handwerklich auf höchstem Niveau. Sonderwünsche kein Problem. Beilagen top! Sehr hervorragende Auswahl an verschiedenen Rumsorten. Alles in allem wie immer ein sehr gelungener Abend.

War mal wieder mit Freunden da. Heute mal Salat und keinen Gulasch. Großer Salatteller war super lecker mit Tunfisch und Schafskäse. Dazu ein gezapftes lokales Bier.

Das Gulasch war zart und lecker gewürzt mit einer angenehmen, leichten Schärfe. Dazu gab es Böhmische Knödel in Scheiben und knuspriges, salziges Bauernbrot. Der Inhaber und Koch Marcel Hoyer hat eine sympathische, humorvolle und kernige Art. Wir haben es sehr geschätzt, dass er sich Zeit genommen hat, die Gulaschvarianten für den heutigen Tag sowie leckere Brände (Zwetschge, Birne, Wacholder) ausführlich für die Auswahl zu beschreiben. Das Ambiente ist urig und gemütlich mit Retrocharme.

Super delicious goulash in the heart of Nuremberg! Tender meat and the toppings are also great. I had with mushrooms and cucumbers. The goulash comes with bread and dumplings, which are included in the price (€19.80 per portion). Very easy to reach by public transport. Small but nice, highly recommended!

Insanely pretty interior, resembles an old-style pub. Ingredients are locally sourced. Bread is absolutely amazing and sourced from the baker next door. The Goulash is highly customizable to fit everyone's needs. Really recommend taking goulash with goat cheese and sausages.

Incredibly fantastic goulash! At least as good as homemade. It was the first time since the Corona pandemic that I really enjoyed the food (meat dish) while visiting a restaurant. Respect! By the way, this was the case for all of us (5 people). Absolutely recommended! I have a new favorite restaurant in Nuremberg.

Very cozy, rustic and the best goulash I have ever eaten

If you haven't tried this goulash (in any of its variations), you should put it on your life's list to try it at least once. Simply epic! Thank you so much!!!! We'll definitely be back. Seven years later, everything has gone downhill. Prices have more than doubled, portions have halved, and the taste has been better. You can get a 0.4 liter for a beer. We won't be back for a while. It's a shame.

Anyone who likes dark humor and sarcasm will get along well with the boss. There is no menu, which isn't a bad thing because there is only and I mean only goulash, the boss comes to the table and explains everything and answers every question you ask him. Young, fast, non-intrusive team, price-performance ratio is ok. Food tastes goulash-galactically good. And the bread and the dumplings were sensational.Now a few things that I didn't like so much (doesn't say anything about the quality of the food, because it's great)Opinion 1. I would have liked a starter and especially a dessert 2. The plates are too full so that the man is forced to eat the toppings first and I have to miss out on the pleasure of being able to mix my food 3. Drinks menu would be great I would have had an aperitif and digestif if I had I would have known if there was one. On the whole, I would like to come back

The Gregor Samsa is an institution! Hidden away near the city park in Nuremberg. The goulash(s) are a revelation! Various variants, all tip top. The landlord cooks himself, sometimes he is “Franconian” friendly, sometimes he is just nice. The selection of rum varieties is a sensation in Nuremberg, for lovers and connoisseurs. I'm actually debating whether I should recommend it, not that more people will come, but a host always needs guests! So 10 out of 10!

Lived unfriendliness! Despite having a reservation, we were crammed into a small table with 4 strangers who had also made a reservation. If I reserve a table and leave a lot of money there, then I want to be able to decide for myself who I want to sit at the table with. That's just outrageous. We left again...

Was at Gregor Samsa again after a long time and was bitterly disappointed! The “salad” was really a disgrace! And the goulash is just a copy of what it used to taste like. We had to wait a very long time for the food and then the meat just wasn't as soft as it should be. There are no cards, the landlord grumbles at you in an absolutely unfriendly way... No, that can't be disguised as Franconian charm... An absolute disappointment and no longer recommended.

A hidden little oasis in Nuremberg! The goulash with horseradish was a poem and I had never tried it before! The atmosphere is very cozy with no frills...just real! Service great...next time I'll come back

Ich habe dieses kleine, gut versteckte Restaurant durch Zufall über TripAdvisor gefunden und ließ mich durch die Ansage, es gäbe lediglich Gulasch, anlocken. Das Lokal ähnelt typischen Studentenkneipen aus Regensburg oder anderen Städten. Der Chef hat sich im Laufe meines Besuches von einem zunächst sehr kurz angebundenen Mitarbeiter zu einem äußerst gastfreundlichen Chef entwickelt! Ich sollte es vielleicht nicht erwähnen, aber ich war dem Chef wohl sympathisch weswegen er mir mehrere kleine zusätzliche Kostproben angedeihen ließ! Ein wahrhaftig genialer Abend! Vielen Dank dafür

Ganz speziell, sehr urig und einfach. Es gibt genau ein Gericht: Gulasch, das aber in zig Variationen. Schmeckt richtig toll, wir waren begeistert. Und sollte bei den vielen Variationen immer noch nicht das Passende dabei sein, kann man seine eigene Variation zusammenstellen. Es gab zumindest EIN sehr gutes gezapftes Bier. Und wer den Alkohol weniger verdünnt mag, findet eine Auswahl vor von vielen Besonderheiten.

Unfriendliness lived under a Franconian guise. I can't judge the food because our previous experiences here were so bad that we decided to go to another restaurant. If you're a customer who wants to be scolded and eat your meal crammed together at the table with other guests, you've come to the right place. ;)

Maravilloso bar y restaurante local. Este lugar no es un lugar que se puede encontrar accidentalmente, pero vale la pena encontrar. Ambiente animado con clientes locales, pero también muy acogedor a los visitantes. We have known Gregor for decades. Unfortunately, the "great" goulash only consists of three pieces of meat garnished with some ingredients. People give this place a wide berth.

Gregor Samsa is truly unique. The food is really delicious. The decor is great, it's heated with fire and the classical music is a nice idea, especially because of the contrast to the ambience. In short, we initially felt comfortable. Unfortunately it didn't stay that way, which was mainly due to the owner. We didn't get caught up in his mood, but we did get caught up in various tables within earshot. The most chilling example was when a guest was rounded off because 4 people didn't show up for his 20+ person reservation. This was done in a tone and volume that made half the restaurant find the situation unpleasant. Dear owner, I understand that you would like to fully fill your restaurant with customers. Personally, I would always communicate a reduction in a reservation, but to be honest, firstly you should leave the church in the village and secondly you should perhaps also clean up your own front door. What do I mean by that? First, 95% of all seats were occupied. The seats that weren't occupied were at tables that were already so full that I wondered if there should even be another seat at the table. Secondly, the demands you place on your guests could rightly be reflected and placed on you as the operator, right? We were there at 6:15 p.m., 15 minutes after the official opening time, and got our food at 7:45 p.m. Others also liked to wait 2 hours. The fact that it takes so long is not communicated anywhere and is therefore actually debatable enough. In addition, the ordered drink was repeatedly forgotten, dishes were dirty and glasses were cracked. Of course you could say that's what gives the store its charm and I'm sure a lot of regulars like to come to you. But you're not warned in advance, are you? So that I don't spread any untruths here, I even tried to use your non-functioning homepage to find out if there was something like "Food is only available from 7:30 p.m. when the whole store is full" somewhere. That's not the case. Maybe you can't imagine it, but in other restaurants people sometimes leave if they don't get anything to eat for two hours. So if it were fair, you could say it's really nice of your guests to stay seated at all. And even the unique or special concept stamp doesn't protect you from punishment because how would you know in advance. In general, I find the alpha male behavior boring. Admit to your guests that they can make mistakes. They allow you to have poor service and even pay for it (:

Had a great evening in the restaurant, had to share a table with another couple as we didn't have a reservation, but that wasn't a problem. The menu was presented to us verbally by waiter as the ingredients and extras change frequently. The food was incredibly tasty, the vegetarian goulash was nicely seasoned, the dumplings were nice and fluffy, just like the bread. After I scraped the plate empty with the remaining bread, I had a second helping on the house. Great evening, great restaurant!

Im Gregor Samsa gibt es das beste Gulasch weit und breit. In den Wintermonaten sorgt ein warmer Ofen für eine gemütliche Atmosphäre, in der man gerne einen ganzen Abend verbringen möchte. Auch der Service ist sehr nett und freundlich. Wir waren als größere Gruppe da und obwohl es sehr voll war, bekamen wir alle gleichzeitig unser Essen. Ich kann einen Besuch in dieser urigen Kneipe nur weiterempfehlen.

Gregor Samsa is a fictional character by Franz Kafka. But the goulash in this rustic pub is very, very real and has recently become world champion. Marcel Hoyer and his team won the Hungarian World Cup 2024! And the diverse variations that are served fresh are just as delicious, together with fried bread dumplings and fragrant baked bread from the neighborhood bakery Albert. The service is adorably different and endearing and the beer is drinkable. Just beautiful!

Very lovely, family-owned restaurant. The food was delicious, our servers were quite friendly, and it had a cozy and homely atmosphere. It felt like visiting a family friend to have dinner. Would recommend 🍛 Only thing I could suggest would be changing the outdated prices on their online menu. Currently the prices of the goulash are much higher at the restaurant than what`s written on their website, and for that reason, we were caught off guard.

Very tasty and absolutely filling food. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and warm, with a lot of humor. I was there again after a break of around 35 years due to moving. E' stata une delle peggiori indicazioni presi su Tripadvisor. Il ristorante ha preso la nostra prenotazione per 4 persone senza avvisarci che il giorno dopo chiudeva per la vacanze e aveva un solo tipo di goulash, quello vegano! Non saprei francamente perchè lo chiamano "goulash", non mi sembra nemmeno lontanamente simile. Si trattava di un piatto confuso nei sapori (tutto insieme, melanzane, funghi, pomodoro, carote, cipolle) con abbondante cipolla cruda sopra. Insomma la nostra esperienza è stata negativa - brutto luogo lontano dalla città con pessimo cibo e management scorretto. Vi consiglio vivamente evitare questo ristorante, a piedi in centro troverete un sacco di posti belli con buona cucina.

Probably the best goulash I've ever tasted. So anyone who thought that goulash was just simple home cooking will be proven wrong here! There is also draft beer and good schnapps. Managing director Marcel, who is also the chef at Gregor Samsas, doesn't shy away from having a hearty conversation with his guests. His waitress Maria impresses with her very friendly and warm manner. Her love of music from past decades, which she is fortunately able to make available to her guests inside the restaurant, rounds off the visit to Gregor Samsa. And don't worry, the music inside means you don't have to shout at each other to be understood! For me, the music could have been a little louder! I'm already looking forward to the next visit!

The goulash with mushrooms tasted very tasty and was a large portion. It's a bit of a shame that there was no menu, but the service was very nice. Regarding the ambience: It's getting a bit old outside, so there's definitely room for improvement. Still highly recommended if you feel like goulash!

An amazing, pleasant atmosphere with really great service. The decor is unique and perfect for a cozy, quiet evening. The service is friendly, welcoming and open with customers. (Gregor Samsa can also be seen) Really only recommended, there is also delicious food for vegetarians and vegans.

The food was super tasty and filling. Dumplings were nice, goulash perfectly soft meat and delicious in taste, the sheep's cheese went great with it :) The atmosphere was very cool and the innkeeper looks like an icon! Gladly again and again!

I walked into Gregor Samsa on a late wednesday evening towards closing time. Due to the utmost kindness and excellent hospitality of the hosts, they started cooking me a wonderful meal despite the kitchen being closed. The staff are really wonderful people. The same goes for the bavarian food, which is accompanied by fantastic Czech beer served in a stylish, warm and authentic setting that you want to sit in all evening. I will definitely be back next time I visit Nurnberg

It's not an evening like any other...it's more of a wild ride through Franz Kafka's novella. If you can just let it happen, then you've come to the right place. Otherwise leave it 😅 Good food, reservations with crazy conversations that also take place during your stay. I'll come back as soon as I'm ready 👍

Mein Freund und ich waren nach längerer Abstinenz mal wieder im Gregor essen. Das Gulasch war wie immer super lecker. Ich liebe den Feta im Hirtengulasch einfach! Wenn der Biergarten geöffnet ist kommen wir gerne wieder öfter. Macht weiter so :-)

We were really very excited! There is no menu, but the innkeeper sat down at the table with us and explained to us what we had to eat and what possible combinations we had. We had a vegetarian and a vegan with us - there was also a goulash dish for both of them, which they were very happy with. The entrance is a bit difficult to find - you have to go through an arch and at first you think there are just a few residential buildings.

We went there for a dinner on father's day and it was amazing. A quiet place with outside table really cosy. We started with some drinks and I have to give a special thanks to the waiter. I was sick as hell and he saw it and immediately propose to make a special grog to help me. He explains us how the gulash is home made with local raw material and the taste was so good. Really tender meat with nice seasonning and spices served with fluffy and classic breads. It's a 10 Once more thank you for the attention you have shown
