Absolutely fantastic and delicious cakes and tarts! We were beyond impressed. You can taste the quality, and that's what makes the café so special. Great service; we received our treats very quickly. I highly recommend the café. :)

Poor service, two coffees and cakes took an hour to wait, delivered incorrectly twice, and another long wait. We had to ask several times, then brought them one at a time, and wait again. A restaurant with overworked staff... a nuisance for us in such an important location in Hanover.

In short, customers who complain about prices and waiting times in a restaurant can also eat at the hospital, where the health insurance company will cover the costs.

We arrived right at 12 for lunch. We waited a good hour for our food and didn't get any bread or anything beforehand. We were almost dying of hunger. Although we were there in a larger group, the table next to us had to wait that long for their food, and there were only two of them. Those who order cake or something from the display are served much faster. The cakes also looked very good. The vegetarian selection was okay, and the other dishes were also okay in size and tasty.

We went to the castle kitchen for coffee today. First, we wandered through the rows of tables for at least five minutes because all the free tables were advertised as reserved, but they were between 30 minutes and 2.5 hours overdue. Either the service staff hadn't corrected or removed the signs, or they were deliberately holding back tables. No one from the service staff approached us or offered us a table. When a table became available and we inspected the menu, we had to swallow a little hard at the prices. €4.50 for a small coffee, €5.50 for a latte macchiato. €3.50 per scoop of ice cream... that's pretty steep. The server who took our order seemed listless but did her job. A cake we had chosen was no longer there, and the list of the remaining cakes was read out at such a speed that you couldn't understand half of it. After about 15 minutes, the ice cream my wife had ordered arrived. €12 for two scoops with a few roasted nuts, some truly flavorless organic cream, and maple syrup is beyond the sanity of the pain threshold. After another 15 minutes, during which my wife finished her ice cream, our three coffee specialties and two pieces of cake finally arrived. After that, no one from the service department showed up for payment. Only after someone from the next table signaled at the counter did a waitress come out into the garden area and check all the tables, who then, one after the other, signaled with hand signals that they were happy to pay. You can't complain about the taste, but the price leaves a bitter aftertaste. To top it all off, the floor of the men's restroom was covered in pee and the changing room/handicapped toilet, where the remains of the previous visitor were floating in the ceramic...sorry, but I was glad I'd already eaten. If I'd gone to the restroom earlier, I probably would have backed out of the restaurant/café. We'll probably never come back. They want to offer a high-quality ambiance here, but unfortunately, some things don't match their ambition.

The restaurant itself is nice and has a very pleasant outdoor area. I waited an hour for the plaice, and then two small breaded plaice fillets arrived, apparently straight from the Iglo counter. They cost €28. All I can say is: just stay away and avoid it. Poor service, frozen food at prices comparable to those in fine dining.

We are incredibly grateful to have celebrated our wedding here! The location was simply stunning, the food an absolute highlight – our guests were thrilled. The service was professional and warm, simply outstanding! Thank you so much for everything, we will always cherish this day and this location!

After waiting 15 minutes, I asked a waitress if I could order. I ordered coffee and cake, which arrived another 15 minutes later. The coffee was only lukewarm; it had probably been forgotten. I then only paid for the cake. The cake was delicious, though.

We were in the private dining room which was a beautiful space. Service was attentive and food of good quality.

It's beautifully decorated both inside and out. The menu offers very appealing dishes, which is why I will definitely visit again. We were looking for a break after our tour of the gardens and found this place. All the seats were taken, but we asked other guests in the lounge if we could sit down. That wasn't a problem at all. There's a good selection of cakes and tarts, which were very, very tasty. I found the cheesecake a bit too sweet. On the other hand, my rhubarb slice was very enjoyable. It was less sweet. The lounge outside was very cozy and also inviting to linger. We didn't have to wait long for service and were served pleasantly without having to wait long. The Herrenhausen Gardens are right next door, and this restaurant is highly recommended for refreshments.

In sunny weather, we enjoyed coffee and cake in the lovely outdoor area. The selection of cakes was varied, so there was something for every taste. The friendly and prompt service was attentive yet unobtrusive.

Food doesn't come to everyone at the same time. Ice cream is very expensive, and the food doesn't come together. To order, you have to wait 20 minutes for the staff to call out. Overall, it's very poorly organized. Two scoops of ice cream cost €12, and a single scoop costs €3.50.

We got married here almost exactly a year ago. First, the ceremony was held in the Hardenberg House, followed by a celebration in the castle kitchen. For us, it was a perfect wedding; our guests gave us nothing but positive feedback. The venues themselves are beautiful, the service very friendly, and the whole atmosphere was much more relaxed than we had expected, given the name and location. Our gifts, for example, were taken to a special room after the ceremony by the staff, and we were able to pick them up spontaneously in the afternoon. We were even allowed in the day before and made the arrangements ourselves out of cut flowers. When we wanted to clean up, we were told to go ahead and say we'd do it ourselves. And that was even though we weren't expecting it. Mr. Grauwinkel himself seemed very trustworthy from the very beginning and always kept his word. Overall, it was better than we could have imagined. Also not unimportant: the castle kitchen, with its price, was one of the most affordable venues we inquired about. That was a huge surprise for us. I initially didn't want to inquire because of the name, because no one would be able to afford it... that's a mistake. Based on our recommendation, another wedding was already held there, and everyone was happy there too. We're very happy we chose this venue :)

A mixed experience, because despite the quality of the food, the service leaves something to be desired (we were not checked in or out, the waitress looked up while we were ordering, and there was no way to pay separately with our friends). And the prices are very high!! It's a shame...

After 15 minutes, I asked a member of staff if I could get a menu! I waited over an hour for the food, even though less than half the tables were occupied! The potato chips were somewhere between black and brown and inedible! It's actually an attractive shop and well located! But unfortunately, it's more show than substance! I won't be going back! We had a reservation, so there was no wait. After about 15 minutes of waiting at the table, the first server came. So far, so good. Drinks orders were taken. 10 minutes later, cake was ordered. Drinks arrived first, but one coffee was wrong and had to be replaced. After another 15 minutes, the cake arrived, but unfortunately not all of it. One type of cake was suddenly out, and another was forgotten (one of us had ordered two cakes). They then asked if they wanted a different cake, to which I said I'd have to check again. The other cakes were served. While I went to the counter, the waitress who brought the cake simply went back to the kitchen. There was no one at the counter I could have ordered from (plus, there was a sign saying ordering at the counter wasn't allowed). So I went back to my seat and waited for someone to come and take the replacement cake. But that didn't happen, and it's not acceptable, especially when you put up a sign like that. So everyone except me ate cake, and then I didn't want to be the only one sitting at the table eating, since everyone else had finished a few minutes later. The first shock came when we asked for the bill. Both cakes that hadn't been brought were still on the bill, which is pretty cheeky and shouldn't happen under any circumstances. So, it had to be corrected. The second shock came when we left the store – the cake that was out of stock was back on the counter a short time later... They could have simply said that it might take a while for the cake we originally ordered to be back. That shouldn't happen, and it's embarrassing. Seriously, how uncoordinated can a store be? The prices are okay, but not exactly cheap; something has to be right. If I go out to eat and one of the ordered dishes is out, I expect that all the other dishes won't be served until at least the replacement order has been taken. That was really bad; we've never experienced anything like it before. The ambiance upstairs was okay, but the chairs were very worn. The restrooms, however, appear to be from the 70s, complete with broken lighting, overflow faucets (be careful when turning them on!), and unfortunately, not clean, hence only 3 stars. Definitely not again; it was really, really bad and, overall, just shockingly unprofessional. We don't have high standards, but this was nothing.

On Easter Sunday (today) the restaurant was quite busy, but not overcrowded. Despite this, we waited more than 40 minutes for the main course after the starter. The food came after we asked. The plates were placed on the table quite wildly. The bread that was ordered didn't come. Food: Scallops don't deserve a star, they're totally over salted. The risotto was overcooked. Fish and chips ok. The wait for dessert also took 30 minutes, which wasn't coffee, just a piece of cake. So, no recommendation for the restaurant 😡

We were guests on a Sunday for afternoon coffee with 4 people and had made a reservation. Almost every table inside and outside was occupied. The service was good and friendly. The selection of cakes was plentiful and varied. The prices are already in the upper range. The ambience inside is rather cool and a bit loud when the table is full.

An extremely attractive restaurant that not only impresses with its excellent cakes, but also with its tasty, hearty dishes and can be recommended without reservation. Particularly noteworthy are the courteous service as well as the reliable and well-organized delivery service, which undoubtedly represents great added value. Whether cake, breakfast or brunch – all orders are delivered on time and as agreed. However, there is a small flaw in the care of the sanitary facilities, which, as the business card of a house, should make a significant contribution to the overall impression.

Great atmosphere. The food tasted very good and was plentiful so that you definitely felt full. The service was also very friendly and nice. I can only recommend eating there.

We went to the GOP winter variety show in the castle kitchen with the menu in advance. Unfortunately, we sat in the next room, which had very few Christmas decorations. A colorfully lit tree in the corner and on the tables a simple paper napkin, a plastic star with a tea light, which has seen better days... The room is certainly designed very beautifully and modernly for a private celebration and with the right decoration... That evening, however, it seemed as if we had ended up at a loveless "seminar meal". We were served very friendly, except at the end, when we would have liked to have ordered a drink to finish off, no one showed up, so we decided to pay shortly afterwards... A quick word about food: Starter: Soup was delicious, unfortunately not particularly warm and the decoration was very hard. Main course: The main course was very tasty and looked fantastic, but unfortunately it wasn't 100% warm either. Dessert: The nut cake wasn't to our taste and we've eaten much better ones. The “topping” was far too much and unfortunately didn’t suit our taste either.

The 3-course menu was really great!

We tried the so-called Smørrebrød here in a larger group (14). Great toppings, delicious bread. It was good to pre-order for this. For the price, however, it's less than expected. We probably still got full. Nice atmosphere, bright, not too loud. The service was quick and attentive. The prices of the card (can also be found on the homepage as a PDF) and the prices on the homepage pages differ enormously. Here the information was given that these were out-of-house prices. But this is not obvious on the homepage (or well hidden).

We felt like cake and treats. Following our visit to the Wilhelm Busch Museum, this “little weakness” took us to Grauwinkel’s establishment. The selection of cakes is varied and the pieces are generously sized. I chose poppy seed cake with sprinkles and whipped cream. A good choice! My companion was more focused on the cake selection and treated herself to the cheesecake with cranberries. The cake tasted exceptionally delicious and so did the coffee. All in all, we felt comfortable in the castle kitchen, which was largely due to our courteous service staff.

This used to be one of my favorite cafés in Hanover. The cake is still excellent, but the prices are really exorbitant. A small cup of coffee - 4 euros! But people are coming in droves, then everything will probably go right...

A lot of wasps downstairs including in counter where food comes from which spoils enjoyment .However , upstairs was wasp free and comfortable. Please deal with those wasps!!!

The soup was served long before the drinks without cutlery, but very tasty. The cake was too cold to enjoy, the hot chocolate was made with water, the coffee was lukewarm, not very tasty and some of the cutlery was dirty. Nevertheless, the ambience was quite nice and the wait staff was friendly. In summary, the price-performance ratio was not very good.

A great cozy atmosphere and a very friendly and attentive service staff. The food not only looked great, but tasted fantastic. We had warm bread with various cheeses, apple chutney as a starter, guinea fowl breast with sweet potato cream and pak choy as a main course and a chocolate tart for dessert. Very very tasty

Grauwinkel's castle kitchen in Hanover absolutely impressed me at an event. The rooms are perfect for such occasions – spacious, well-equipped and with a great atmosphere. My entrecôte was excellent, juicy and fried just right. The fish and chips I saw also looked great. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Overall a great place for events and good food!

Once and never again!!!! For the prices we would have liked more pleasant amenities. Tables warped, chairs uncomfortable and upholstery dirty... There isn't really any food for children and the cold cocoa they sold us was hot chocolate

As if sitting, already waiting. First of all it took 20 minutes until you were asked what you wanted to eat. It took another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. When we ordered our starters the highlight came. It took almost 50 minutes until we got a starter, then another 40 minutes until the main course. Not to belittle it completely, the food was really good. A change without the typical spices. The service was nice, but everything took forever. As a little tip: Eat something before you wait 2 hours for your food.

The ambience being so close to the Herrenhausen Gardens is really great. You can even go straight from the garden (grotto) into the café and make a short stop. The cake is very tasty and really worth a visit. Unfortunately, you sometimes have to wait longer outside for the service staff and you should allow yourself some time.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding in the castle kitchen almost a week ago and it was absolutely spectacular. The castle kitchen responded to all of our dining requests and conjured up an incredibly delicious meal for our guests. The staff were very friendly and provided us with everything around the clock. The MaVie hall looked really nice! Our guests also really enjoyed it and couldn't stop raving about it. We can only warmly recommend the castle kitchen and would celebrate there again. Unfortunately we were not at all satisfied with the service. The young Asian waitress (the one with red/orange hair) didn't seem very motivated. No smile, more of an annoyed look. When we asked if we could have potatoes instead of gnocchi, the answer was "No, the menus are ready." Then it took an hour for our two meals to arrive. The prices are also not appropriate. €24 for fish & chips. There was also no question as to whether it was tasty. We also had to ask for the bill twice. Conclusion: This is not a restaurant I would recommend.

For €26 you get a gristly piece of chicken with gnocchi that won't fill you up. Spent almost €100 as a family. Sorry but the food wasn't great for the money and the service was too slow.

Actually a nice café and the waitresses were also very nice, perhaps a bit overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the plates were dirty, there were bits of food stuck to them and there was visible contamination in our food. - what a shame!

If we hadn't been so hungry, we would have left the restaurant. The food was good. However, price-performance is not right. We paid 30 euros for two breads and two drinks :(

I would rather invest my money in other restaurants in the future. Today was a failure. 1. I was not understood linguistically by the waitress behind the counter. 2. One item was supposedly "off", even though the restaurant had just opened and it was on the menu.....very strange....and why didn't they contact me at least 30 minutes before the pickup date (that's what I would have can still cancel completely)? 3. I had to laboriously peel the peel from the potato wedges because I find this tough stuff terrible Mouth (you could guess that based on my comment when ordering). At least the fish was juicy and boneless, but unfortunately nothing was seasoned except for salt. All in all, things are getting better. A pity.

Biggest impudence ever! The entrecout is not an entrecout but a pork neck steak and completely cooked through. The soup was served ice cold and was not warmed up when asked. Service is terrible, as are the prices. You wait ages for service and get bad food at overpriced prices.

We had fish and chips, which were simply greasy but dry at the same time, as the sauce was far too little and bitter and you basically only ate dry potatoes and fish. The whole thing for 20 or 25 euros as the cheapest real dish is hefty. Maybe the other dishes are better and therefore cost more. The service was friendly. The waiting times until you are noticed are still long, unless you are sitting directly outside on the terrace. All in all, it's better to eat somewhere else and then walk around the gardens, otherwise it will be an expensive experience and other snacks on the way are probably only available at events in the garden itself.

The castle kitchen is a real gem in terms of its location, on the edge of the Herrenhausen Gardens and the grotto of Niki de Saint Phalle. I like the ambience inside and outside, the team around Sascha Grauwinkel and especially the type of food: such a patisserie, such catering, such a brunch, such picnic baskets and such a presentation of food is extraordinary. Not because there are cakes, tarts or dishes here that you've never heard of before, but rather the way in which portion sizes, in which combinations and with which craftsmanship the things are presented and served here - that's what's special! You have to know that the Herrenhausen Gardens are a tourist magnet and that it can of course be particularly crowded at times, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment...

We came into the restaurant shortly after 5 p.m. and sat down outside. There was hardly anything going on. The staff noticed us but neither greeted us nor served us, even though the other tables were being diligently attended to. After 15 minutes we still hadn't been spoken to and hadn't even been given the menu. The birthday feast was then moved to another restaurant. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the price, food etc. A pity.

We were here for coffee. There is a very good selection of cakes/tarts, which are not a bargain, but are really worth the price in terms of taste.

We were there for lunch at lunchtime. My plaice with toasted bread was far too fatty for my taste. My husband's food only came after we asked for it, but at least the waitress apologized for forgetting it. We skipped dessert because our table wasn't taken into account and the plates weren't cleared away. The prices are totally overpriced and not worth the food. It's a shame, it was supposed to be a nice meal for my husband's birthday. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

We had a celebration with 50 people and it was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The food, the drinks and the service.

We canceled a visit very quickly, and not just because of the exorbitant prices. The tables outside were very dirty, all surfaces were sticky, including the laminated menu cards. Given the prices, the service must also be perfect, not just the food...
