The food didn't taste good. Both the fish and chips and the lobster soup. The service device didn't work and we were served soup and drinks by two waiters. Not appropriate for the expensive price. The cake, however, was good.

On Easter Sunday (today) the restaurant was quite busy, but not overcrowded. Despite this, we waited more than 40 minutes for the main course after the starter. The food came after we asked. The plates were placed on the table quite wildly. The bread that was ordered didn't come. Food: Scallops don't deserve a star, they're totally over salted. The risotto was overcooked. Fish and chips ok. The wait for dessert also took 30 minutes, which wasn't coffee, just a piece of cake. So, no recommendation for the restaurant 😡

We were guests on a Sunday for afternoon coffee with 4 people and had made a reservation. Almost every table inside and outside was occupied. The service was good and friendly. The selection of cakes was plentiful and varied. The prices are already in the upper range. The ambience inside is rather cool and a bit loud when the table is full.

An extremely attractive restaurant that not only impresses with its excellent cakes, but also with its tasty, hearty dishes and can be recommended without reservation. Particularly noteworthy are the courteous service as well as the reliable and well-organized delivery service, which undoubtedly represents great added value. Whether cake, breakfast or brunch – all orders are delivered on time and as agreed. However, there is a small flaw in the care of the sanitary facilities, which, as the business card of a house, should make a significant contribution to the overall impression.

We went to the GOP winter variety show in the castle kitchen with the menu in advance. Unfortunately, we sat in the next room, which had very few Christmas decorations. A colorfully lit tree in the corner and on the tables a simple paper napkin, a plastic star with a tea light, which has seen better days... The room is certainly designed very beautifully and modernly for a private celebration and with the right decoration... That evening, however, it seemed as if we had ended up at a loveless "seminar meal". We were served very friendly, except at the end, when we would have liked to have ordered a drink to finish off, no one showed up, so we decided to pay shortly afterwards... A quick word about food: Starter: Soup was delicious, unfortunately not particularly warm and the decoration was very hard. Main course: The main course was very tasty and looked fantastic, but unfortunately it wasn't 100% warm either. Dessert: The nut cake wasn't to our taste and we've eaten much better ones. The “topping” was far too much and unfortunately didn’t suit our taste either.

The 3-course menu was really great!

We tried the so-called Smørrebrød here in a larger group (14). Great toppings, delicious bread. It was good to pre-order for this. For the price, however, it's less than expected. We probably still got full. Nice atmosphere, bright, not too loud. The service was quick and attentive. The prices of the card (can also be found on the homepage as a PDF) and the prices on the homepage pages differ enormously. Here the information was given that these were out-of-house prices. But this is not obvious on the homepage (or well hidden).

We felt like cake and treats. Following our visit to the Wilhelm Busch Museum, this “little weakness” took us to Grauwinkel’s establishment. The selection of cakes is varied and the pieces are generously sized. I chose poppy seed cake with sprinkles and whipped cream. A good choice! My companion was more focused on the cake selection and treated herself to the cheesecake with cranberries. The cake tasted exceptionally delicious and so did the coffee. All in all, we felt comfortable in the castle kitchen, which was largely due to our courteous service staff.

This used to be one of my favorite cafés in Hanover. The cake is still excellent, but the prices are really exorbitant. A small cup of coffee - 4 euros! But people are coming in droves, then everything will probably go right...

A lot of wasps downstairs including in counter where food comes from which spoils enjoyment .However , upstairs was wasp free and comfortable. Please deal with those wasps!!!

Cakes very tasty. Staff helpful and friendly

The soup was served long before the drinks without cutlery, but very tasty. The cake was too cold to enjoy, the hot chocolate was made with water, the coffee was lukewarm, not very tasty and some of the cutlery was dirty. Nevertheless, the ambience was quite nice and the wait staff was friendly. In summary, the price-performance ratio was not very good.

A great cozy atmosphere and a very friendly and attentive service staff. The food not only looked great, but tasted fantastic. We had warm bread with various cheeses, apple chutney as a starter, guinea fowl breast with sweet potato cream and pak choy as a main course and a chocolate tart for dessert. Very very tasty

Grauwinkel's castle kitchen in Hanover absolutely impressed me at an event. The rooms are perfect for such occasions – spacious, well-equipped and with a great atmosphere. My entrecôte was excellent, juicy and fried just right. The fish and chips I saw also looked great. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Overall a great place for events and good food!

Once and never again!!!! For the prices we would have liked more pleasant amenities. Tables warped, chairs uncomfortable and upholstery dirty... There isn't really any food for children and the cold cocoa they sold us was hot chocolate

As if sitting, already waiting. First of all it took 20 minutes until you were asked what you wanted to eat. It took another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. When we ordered our starters the highlight came. It took almost 50 minutes until we got a starter, then another 40 minutes until the main course. Not to belittle it completely, the food was really good. A change without the typical spices. The service was nice, but everything took forever. As a little tip: Eat something before you wait 2 hours for your food.

The ambience being so close to the Herrenhausen Gardens is really great. You can even go straight from the garden (grotto) into the café and make a short stop. The cake is very tasty and really worth a visit. Unfortunately, you sometimes have to wait longer outside for the service staff and you should allow yourself some time.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding in the castle kitchen almost a week ago and it was absolutely spectacular. The castle kitchen responded to all of our dining requests and conjured up an incredibly delicious meal for our guests. The staff were very friendly and provided us with everything around the clock. The MaVie hall looked really nice! Our guests also really enjoyed it and couldn't stop raving about it. We can only warmly recommend the castle kitchen and would celebrate there again. Unfortunately we were not at all satisfied with the service. The young Asian waitress (the one with red/orange hair) didn't seem very motivated. No smile, more of an annoyed look. When we asked if we could have potatoes instead of gnocchi, the answer was "No, the menus are ready." Then it took an hour for our two meals to arrive. The prices are also not appropriate. €24 for fish & chips. There was also no question as to whether it was tasty. We also had to ask for the bill twice. Conclusion: This is not a restaurant I would recommend.

For €26 you get a gristly piece of chicken with gnocchi that won't fill you up. Spent almost €100 as a family. Sorry but the food wasn't great for the money and the service was too slow.

Actually a nice café and the waitresses were also very nice, perhaps a bit overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the plates were dirty, there were bits of food stuck to them and there was visible contamination in our food. - what a shame!

We waited more than half an hour until we were served. When we wanted to order directly at the counter, we were informed that there would be table service. If we hadn't been so hungry, we would have left the restaurant. The food was good. However, price-performance is not right. We paid 30 euros for two breads and two drinks :(

Without a seat reservation on Sunday for coffee... had to wait over an hour for the order to be taken and another 20 minutes to receive the order... Coffee and cake selection very good and tasty... BUT coordination of the service, as well Friendliness leaves a lot to be desired!

I would rather invest my money in other restaurants in the future. Today was a failure. 1. I was not understood linguistically by the waitress behind the counter. 2. One item was supposedly "off", even though the restaurant had just opened and it was on the menu.....very strange....and why didn't they contact me at least 30 minutes before the pickup date (that's what I would have can still cancel completely)? 3. I had to laboriously peel the peel from the potato wedges because I find this tough stuff terrible Mouth (you could guess that based on my comment when ordering). At least the fish was juicy and boneless, but unfortunately nothing was seasoned except for salt. All in all, things are getting better. A pity.

Biggest impudence ever! The entrecout is not an entrecout but a pork neck steak and completely cooked through. The soup was served ice cold and was not warmed up when asked. Service is terrible, as are the prices. You wait ages for service and get bad food at overpriced prices.

I can't judge the food, after waiting 30 minutes we left. The waitress took us but ignored us.

We had fish and chips, which were simply greasy but dry at the same time, as the sauce was far too little and bitter and you basically only ate dry potatoes and fish. The whole thing for 20 or 25 euros as the cheapest real dish is hefty. Maybe the other dishes are better and therefore cost more. The service was friendly. The waiting times until you are noticed are still long, unless you are sitting directly outside on the terrace. All in all, it's better to eat somewhere else and then walk around the gardens, otherwise it will be an expensive experience and other snacks on the way are probably only available at events in the garden itself.

The castle kitchen is a real gem in terms of its location, on the edge of the Herrenhausen Gardens and the grotto of Niki de Saint Phalle. I like the ambience inside and outside, the team around Sascha Grauwinkel and especially the type of food: such a patisserie, such catering, such a brunch, such picnic baskets and such a presentation of food is extraordinary. Not because there are cakes, tarts or dishes here that you've never heard of before, but rather the way in which portion sizes, in which combinations and with which craftsmanship the things are presented and served here - that's what's special! You have to know that the Herrenhausen Gardens are a tourist magnet and that it can of course be particularly crowded at times, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment...

We came into the restaurant shortly after 5 p.m. and sat down outside. There was hardly anything going on. The staff noticed us but neither greeted us nor served us, even though the other tables were being diligently attended to. After 15 minutes we still hadn't been spoken to and hadn't even been given the menu. The birthday feast was then moved to another restaurant. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the price, food etc. A pity.

We were here for coffee. There is a very good selection of cakes/tarts, which are not a bargain, but are really worth the price in terms of taste.

We were there for lunch at lunchtime. My plaice with toasted bread was far too fatty for my taste. My husband's food only came after we asked for it, but at least the waitress apologized for forgetting it. We skipped dessert because our table wasn't taken into account and the plates weren't cleared away. The prices are totally overpriced and not worth the food. It's a shame, it was supposed to be a nice meal for my husband's birthday. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

We had a celebration with 50 people and it was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The food, the drinks and the service.

We canceled a visit very quickly, and not just because of the exorbitant prices. The tables outside were very dirty, all surfaces were sticky, including the laminated menu cards. Given the prices, the service must also be perfect, not just the food...

The asparagus soup for Mother's Day

Given the prices (dinner starters a good €20, main courses almost €30) and the unusual-sounding descriptions, I expect a lot. Unfortunately, I was disappointed: the quality of the food for dinner was rather mediocre - that would be ok for half the price. The appetizer portion was large, but that alone isn't enough. So the price-performance ratio is too weak. We also waited 45 minutes for the starter despite the restaurant being almost empty. That doesn't really fit the image of an upscale restaurant either. My recommendation would be to leave the place completely empty in the evening... maybe the cakes are good - at least they looked that way - but they were only available in the afternoon.

Unfriendly staff, everyone was served at the counter and we were told to sit at the table and wait, but others who had the same thing as us were immediately served at the counter?? Always asked when we can order. Was always just told “wait”. Waited 25 minutes! Then only half of the order was delivered and the other half wasn't delivered for 20 minutes! later, when all the rest of us have long since eaten our food. Never here again.

High-priced restaurant located directly at the Herrenhausen Gardens. We had to wait quite a long time until our orders were served. This applies to lunch and also to coffee and cake. After the ordered cake had not been served for 20 minutes, the staff informed that the chosen cake was no longer available. The cake we chose as an alternative came immediately.

As drivers for guests at an event in the Herrenhausen Gallery, we received a “meal” in the Grauwinkel Castle Kitchen. Half an hour before closing time there was a lasagne like I've never had before. It was probably warmed up several times. Some of the cheese was as hard as a plastic plate. See photo. The cook refused to be brought to the table. The waitress was embarrassed that something like that was being served. A good chef would never do something like that to his guests...

We stopped here for coffee and cake after a walk. You can sit nicely (inside and outside). Cake was good and reasonably priced. Coffee or Capuchino was not really hot and too expensive.

We were always happy to come and enjoy the food. Unfortunately there is now a new menu that no longer meets our wishes. In my opinion, the relationship between quality and price is no longer correct at all - it's a shame. We won't be able to eat anymore for now.

Every now and then we get a breakfast box and we are thrilled every time, it is very varied and delicious and special requests (vegetarian) are also catered for. You get something out of the box all day long, even if it felt bigger a few years ago. We are very satisfied

This review refers to the ice cream: We had a lemon pie and a spaghetti cup. Both were deficient in technical execution. The spaghetti ice cream was a soup because the cream core was not frozen. There was also far too little ice cream in relation to the cream. The lemon pie ice cream was OK, but there were two technical errors: a) a cookie center at the bottom of the glass. You only come out of these at the end when the ice cream is used up - crumbles after a first layer would make more sense. The leomcurd was tasty but slimy "worms" on the ice cream. A different starch ratio would be necessary for use on ice. 12 euros per cup is obscene.

Absolute disaster. There were four of us and it was packed. The waitress ignores us to the point of despair, then we finally order - we all just wanted ice cream in the heat, which at €3.60 per scoop (!!!) is extremely overpriced. 3 people get their order. When asked, a lemonade (without ice) arrives 20 minutes later. After asking TWICE we decided to forget the rest of the order and leave. That took another 30 minutes because the waitress still didn't serve us (despite repeated requests!). Wasted life, wasted money.

The food was delicious and fresh. The service ruins it. It doesn't even begin to live up to the demands that the ambience conveys. Inattentive and inflexible - a shame

This restaurant is located next to the palace and right behind the Nikki Saint Phalle exhibition. We came here for a break after visiting the garden, so we didn’t take a proper meal (the food menu is expensive). The cakes and the drinks are very good: delicious and big portion for the price. There are a lot of space, also suitable for families, big groups and elderly. The staff is nice, professional and quick, especially Hương :)

Been there for the second time with a girlfriend, about 10 years ago. Yesterday, the furnishings and especially outside in the garden were all outdated, run down, partly unkempt. The service was served by a foreigner who spoke bad German. The menu was unsorted and had little choice. Also only partially written in German. We had a 3 course meal but didn't know what it was. It was, 1st course: pumpkin seed soup. It was good, although I would never have ordered it and neither would my girlfriend. 2nd course: Fried pollack. With a few small potato halves. 3rd course: 1 small scoop of ice cream, 3 dollops of cream sauce! Poor.Very poor. But the prices were decent. With 3 Alster 85 euros. We don't need to go back!!!!!!!

The selection of cuisine is really nice and the service was also impeccable. Unfortunately I didn't like the coffee that much.

The reservation for Saturday 1 p.m. worked very well. The service was very polite and if you needed something you just had to briefly draw your attention. We ordered the lunch menu with a starter, main course and dessert for €35. This is relatively cheap. At á la carte, a main course costs between €19 and €29. The food was well prepared and presented. But it didn't meet expectations in terms of taste. The food is good and okay, but not a taste experience. The baked plaice was surprisingly greasy for baked and so was the toasted rye bread. That was too oily for me personally. I was glad that I could swap the dish with my companion because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat it. However, my companion tolerated it well. The cakes are the highlight and recommended. On the terrace there is a fig garden and large pots planted with vegetables such as Brussels sprouts. The toilets are very clean. There is a cigarette machine in the women's toilets.

We were there for coffee on a Sunday. It was packed. We had to wait fifteen minutes for our order to be taken. The cake looked delicious on the counter. Unfortunately it wasn't tasty at all, it tasted old and soggy and we didn't finish it. The prices there are really steep. It definitely wasn't worth it!

We were there for lunch, so they opened right at 12 p.m. Is not far from Sea Life. We were warmly welcomed and my daughter had to touch everything and check the situation. We asked for a children's chair, it was shown to us straight away and we took it to the table. We were asked if we wanted to have lunch and the menu was immediately brought to us. The menu is very clear, but I can't say whether the prices for the castle kitchen are justified. I ordered 2x pasta with wild broccoli and pesto for 38€ (19€), 1x avocado with bread 17€ and for my daughter pasta with tomato sauce 6.50€ (a huge portion for an almost 3 year old child 👍) The food was mega mega delicious as was the coffee 😊 In the end it was a bill of around €84 😬✌🏽

I always enjoy coming here to enjoy the delicious cakes and hot chocolate. Located near the Herrenhäuser Markt and next to/opposite the Großer Garten, Berggarten and Sealife, the entrance is somewhat hidden on Alten Herrenhäuser Straße. The cakes are filling and outstanding - I'm very critical and spoiled! It was a pleasure.

The cake was a poem! The main room may be very loud. But we sat in the next room so that a pleasant atmosphere for conversation could arise. Any time!

The food and cake selection is excellent. The staff very friendly.

The ambience is quite good. It's okay that you pay for this. But otherwise you don't get more for your money: the quality of the food is mediocre and the service is legendarily slow. For example, if the butter on the asparagus takes so long until both are cold, I have no understanding of that. Likewise, you wait 30 minutes until someone takes the order and 45 minutes until you can pay. By the way, this was the case on all of our visits - only the excuses changed. Since Mövenpick gave up this location many years ago, things have only gone in one direction: downhill! P.S.: The handful of glowing 5-star reviews here have NOTHING to do with reality and, when looking at the respective profiles, seem to me to be favors or purchased.

Wir waren zum Wintervariate dort und hatten ein drei Gänge Menü. Das Essen war super lecker, die Portionen perfekt und der Service und das Ambiente haben uns auch super gefallen.

Betrifft BrunchBox to go/zum abholen: Zum *wiederholten* Mal wurde eine nicht-vegetarische Box geliefert obwohl *schriftlich* um eine vegetarische Zusammenstellung gebeten und dies bestätigt wurde. Der Lieferant hat bei Lieferung auf Nachfrage ebenfalls versichert, dass es sich um eine vegetarische Box handelt. Leider war dem nicht so. Lachs und Bacon waren enthalten, die Wurst zwar entnommen aber nicht der Warenwert ersetzt durch z.B. mehr Käse. (die Box kostet aktuell 44€, da sollten Dinge schon ausgetauscht werden statt sie nur auszulassen) In der heutigen Zeit ist es aus meiner Sicht ein no go, einen so einfachen Wunsch wie „kein Fisch/kein Fleisch“ entweder nicht zu respektieren oder nicht in der Lage zu sein das als Restaurant entsprechend umzusetzen und obendrein bei der Auslieferung zu lügen. (P.S. Aufgrund von Allergien (Soja, Nüsse) kam die vegane Box nicht in Frage)

Wir waren zum Essen vor dem Wintervariete. Das Essen war gut und das Personal war super aufmerksam und freundlich.

Wir waren dort und hatten ein 3-Gänge Menü. Das Restaurant ist schon eingerichtet und wirkt nobel. Leider war an diesem Abend der Service etwas schwach, die Dame sprach nur gebrochen deutsch und das Menü wurde nicht präsentiert. Das Essen war soweit gut jedoch fehlte es etwas an Würze, dass das Tiramisu nicht mit Zwetschgen (wie es im Menü stand) sondern mit Kirschen serviert wurde, dazu fehlte die Anmerkung. Und obwohl wir eine etwas größere Gruppe waren, wirkte das servieren der Getränke recht chaotisch, es wurde stetig gefragt wer nun was bekommt Zusammenfassend war es dennoch ein schöner Abend, jedoch eben mit diesen Fauxpas, die ich so nicht erwartet hätte.

Große Kuchen Auswahl, diese schmecken sehr gut, Café Restaurant sehr zu empfehlen wenn man Kuchen und Torten mag. Ein Punkt Abzug da das Glas noch Lippenstift Spuren, also schmutzig war, welches sofort getauscht wurde. Service ist sehr freundlich und schnell.
