Overall very nice location! I also think the concept of working with regional and fresh ingredients is great. It was a real shame that we were denied the vegetarian version of the Schmiedeburger with the LilaCard's 2:1 offer, even though it would have been cheaper. This has never been a problem in any other restaurant, especially these days when people are eating more vegetarian food. We chose the veggie currywurst and the goat cheese burger. The portion of the currywurst was very large and tasted good, the burger was rather small and had a hefty price, but it was also tasty. However, €7.50 for a homemade lemonade seemed a bit much to me, and unfortunately the toilets were not in very good condition. When we noticed that there was no toilet paper, we replied: 'Should I get some now?!'...? We left with mixed feelings. The whole thing can still be expanded.

Yes, where to start! A week before the day in question, the table for 6 people was ordered. At one of the 8 tap tables. Pure anticipation, looked at the website 100 times and thought about what to eat because everything looked so great. Ok yesterday it was time with anticipation and huge hunger, went to the waiter or whatever it was, asked about our reservation only he didn't know anything, called the boss who also looked very skeptical and then sent us upstairs. When we arrived at the top and thought wow because we weren't given a table, we took the first one in front. Because upstairs everything was empty, not a soul, nothing. White flowers on the table all candles empty. Well, whatever, we're here to eat. Out of sheer anticipation, the men poured themselves a beer mmm, yes, what they wanted wasn't an alternative to a light beer, but it tasted good. But you would have liked to try both! By the way, we were there at half past seven. After half an hour we took a place card with a QR code on it and then tried to order, because no one thought it was necessary to take a look at us. Since there was a drink with us, we thought we'd go downstairs shortly after 8 and ask if anything had arrived because we'd been sitting there for an hour and no one had come yet. The waitress apologized, nothing had arrived and said she would come up to us straight away. When it came up again after 10 minutes. We were still friendly and understanding. We placed our order again, although we couldn't order it exactly like it was on the menu because that would be outdated, it had been under a different owner for 2 months, ok that compromise was also made. While going downstairs she said that it might take a while because it was so full and her colleague simply hadn't come and she would have to do everything herself. Meanwhile, half past nine, the drink we ordered finally arrived, an ordered Tekila Sun... where the Tekila and the red syrup had been forgotten, just O juice with ice cubes... very cool! Afterwards we went downstairs/out for a smoke. And we saw that 13 people were sitting at the tables but everyone had already eaten and 2 of them were already finished, so we asked ourselves what was taking so long and the starter wasn't even there. Well, finally our meal came after 2 hours of main course together with starter. The starter should be caramelized. There was simply no brown sugar sprinkled on top. The two steaks weren't even nicely arranged on the outside and the side dishes were forgotten and swapped, despite her asking again, the tarte flambée was also half raw and the goat cheese Bürger didn't look like the pictures either. The Pomeranian can do MC better! Apparently we should eat with our fingers! Because there was no cutlery. Now our patience was finally broken and we told the waitress that we wouldn't eat it for these reasons. She wanted to send the boss up. But after 20 minutes he still wasn't there. We got dressed and left. A friend tried to talk to the boss and explain it, he just said we can go all for free. Which was the least of it, we didn't get anything, neither service nor the food that was advertised. Such a disappointment, I really hope no one has to go through something like that again! So you'll never see us there again and we won't recommend the store to anyone! By the way, we then looked for an Asian restaurant. They managed to conjure up 4 mega hot, delicious different meals in 20 minutes, and the shop was really full! So thank you for nothing

Food was ok, my chicken was a bit over-seasoned but the bun was ok. My aioli was also ok but not what I expected. Quite expensive for what you get. What really bothered me was that there were some tables with dirty glasses. The guest behind us sat down at one of them and the service person brought him something to drink but didn't clear away the previous guest's used glass. Don't know why you can't clear the tables.

We were full of ribs - eating there and can't understand some of the very bad reviews! The restaurant is beautifully presented and stylishly furnished! The drinks came very quickly and the food didn't take too long either. The service was very attentive and always asked directly if we would like another portion. The only thing I would have to complain about would be that we talked about the student discount in advance and then didn't get it. But mistakes just happen sometimes.

We had the feeling that the waiters were overwhelmed or didn't even know what to do. However, the boss was very accommodating and we actually only deducted one star for the service.

We were in the restaurant with a larger group. The hospitality was confused when we arrived and didn't know about the reservation. We still got a seat, but it wasn't until 35 minutes later that we were asked what we would like to drink. Unfortunately the snack plate didn't contain what was on the menu. There was no cheese, even though it was described. The service was not good, the two employees were noticeably overworked. The starter arrived after 1:45 hours, the main course took 2.5 hours. Drinks were only asked twice during that time. The food itself wasn't a masterpiece either. The steak was tough and the burger was too dry. At least the fries were good. We won't be coming back again.

When you get the feeling that evolution is moving faster than the pace of service, then you know you've hit the culinary jackpot. 30 minutes for the menu and a whopping 45 minutes for the drinks - you can easily think about whether you were really waiting for food or whether it was an experiment in human patience. And the tap at the table? Of course out of order - why offer working technology when you can rely on moments of surprise instead? Reservations? Oh, pfff, unimportant. After all, you want to see the genuine confusion on the staff's faces when there are suddenly seven people in the restaurant. A spectacle not to be missed! The menu? Of course, that only happens when you politely remind the service staff that you're not just sitting here to stare at the wall. And then the starters. An hour and ten minutes of waiting - I almost forgot my watch during that time, the wait was so exciting. A bread basket for a group of more than five people? Oh please, that would be way too obvious. It's better to leave the guests hungry and slightly irritated so that the main courses, which arrive after a relaxed two hours, seem like a magical moment. Spoiler: They don't. The crowning glory? The vesper plate. A work of art online, more of a Picasso interpretation live: chaotic and misleading. Take pictures? Impossible, my colleagues were too afraid that if they delayed any further they would spontaneously starve. And then the toilets – oh, a chapter in itself. Real adventure is on offer here: clogged toilets, sinks full of secrets and toilet seats that are apparently cleaned so rarely that they practically represent a museum of human inaccuracy. The big showdown: After 2.5 hours, the main courses land on the table. Surprisingly incongruous with the online pictures, but hey – if you're going to be disappointed, then you're right! Conclusion: We say goodbye warmly and solemnly promise that our next meal will certainly not take place here.

It started with a 40 minute wait for drinks. Then my partner was given a non-alcoholic cocktail for 7.50 euros where the glass was half full. After personally complaining to the (boss), the glass was then refilled. According to the menu, I had a schnitzel for dinner. This was the worst schnitzel I've ever eaten, which is why I left half of it. It was lukewarm, totally dry and the breading made up half of the 0.5 cm schnitzel. My partner had the forged pan, where the vegetables were missing and there were only onions with a few mushrooms, half of the meat was chicken and the other half was pork and tough beef. Here the food was at least a little warmer. This waste cost a total of 50.00 euros. When I pointed out the poor quality when paying, the criticism was ignored. I will never go there again and will warn every one of my customers and my friends about the store!

The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. Everything was decorated for Christmas and very nicely designed with cozy lighting. Really very nice. The cocktails were very tasty and recommended, but rather small. The food wasn't that tasty for us. The schnitzel was very small and dry (for around €20), the large fries weren't quite cooked through and the burger was mediocre. Tomato and cucumber pieces were way too big and cut inappropriately for a burger. We also ordered all you can eat burgers, but only got one because the next one took over 3/4 hour and then it was too late. Apparently we were the only ones who ordered food at the time. We were then accommodated in terms of price and were not charged the all you can eat price, but the individual price for a burger.

Unfortunately, not at all what you would expect. As a family and friends we tried the “Rippchen Satt” campaign on a Monday and were more than disappointed. Unfortunately, the meat on the ribs was clearly bad and stale. It wasn't just the smell but also the taste and the subsequent stomach problems. Since we all come from the village and have slaughtered a pig ourselves and know how the meat should fall off the bone if it were fresh, we can say that it definitely wasn't. To cover and hide the whole thing, more sauce was smeared on the ribs. Unfortunately, the price for this is absolutely not right. Unfortunately, it's not like you know it from the village. Where a buffet is set up or the ribs are brought separately on a plate and then the side dishes. Here you get a plate of fries (which were really tasty), salad and a rack of ribs. If you can do more and don't stuff the side dishes too much, you'll get another plate. Overall, we were disappointed and had to struggle with our stomachs afterwards because of the rotten meat. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the blacksmith shop and would not take our next friends there.

Yesterday our Christmas party was held in the blacksmith shop. After some concerns due to negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised! Fresh homemade herb bread with a sesame crust was given to us free of charge, which made the waiting time pleasant. We visited the restaurant as part of our Christmas party on November 28th, 2024 and were very satisfied. With 45 people, we ordered a Christmas buffet and had the upper floor to ourselves, which the management liked. Our wishes that evening were completely fulfilled, with additional vegan alternatives. As a surprise, we were greeted with a glass of champagne on the house and to tide us over until all the components of the buffet were delivered from the kitchen, we were happy to receive a starter plate. The food was very tasty and fresh and the staff were super nice and very friendly. Personally and professionally, I would come back at any time.

Rump steak 250g was ordered medium, arrived dead fried after 30 minutes and was more like 150g, the GRILLED vegetables were fried in oil and the oil flooded the plate. Upon request, a new steak was brought, which was 250 g but unfortunately not medium but blue. When asked about the garlic ciabatta that was offered with the dish, they said, no, they don't have anything like that. All in all, we have never had such a bad meal. The plates went back 3/4. But consideration was taken when paying. The service was very friendly.

A disaster - we celebrated there with a group and it took almost an hour until we got drinks for the first time (and you can do that with a "flat rate")! There were then appetizer platters with dry bread and a little supermarket cheese and sausage. After well over two hours you finally got your food. A steak that was killed four times and a mini potato on the side and a mountain of salad. The toilets were also the craziest thing about the whole place. Men and women in the same room and even two toilets in one room. Woker nonsense at the highest level.

We received a reservation at 7:30 p.m., even though it was initially fully booked. That was very friendly. It took over an hour from the time the order was placed until the last person in the group received the drink. The food arrived after about 1 3/4 hours. The food was average. The ambience was nice, but the room acoustics were miserable. The service staff was friendly and worked as best as they could. However, it was quite overwhelming to serve all guests optimally. At times there was a mess with the serving of the food. We weren't the only guests who had to wait forever.

Christmas party with around 40 people, all auditioned. Kitchen and service hopelessly overwhelmed. “Starter plate” from the discounter refrigerator, rump steaks, some shoe soles, very pale color. Frozen goods? Arrival was before 7 p.m., the last ones got their main course around 11 p.m. Indefinable dessert, something else was ordered. Interesting toilet facility. Sorry, but not again under this direction.

I came across this restaurant while looking for a good restaurant for a relaxed evening with friends. The website and menu were very convincing. So, I went with my girlfriend and a few friends to be surprised. When we arrived at the restaurant we were struck by the really great atmosphere. The restaurant is quite small and cramped but feels very cozy. We were taken to our table by the staff and the cards were brought to us. The staff seemed unsure about the restaurant itself. Among other things, we ordered 2x oven potatoes, they were served firm to the bite and not soft as we usually see them, the “sour cream” that came with it according to the menu was just creme fraiche or something similar without any spices. When ordering, the employee didn't know what was included and forgot to serve the herb bread. Speaking of herb bread, if you can call it that since it has nothing to do with it. It was just a cut burger bun with a questionable looking and smelling cream on it. Does this taste absolutely nothing like herbs and smell strongly of fish? Unfortunately we had to leave this behind. But the burger and schnitzel with fries we ordered were very tasty. The fries were heavily seasoned, which I personally found very good. A plus point is the student discount, for all students there is a 15% discount on the order. Unfortunately, we also had problems with this issue. We had presented our student ID cards to the waitress, she had seen them but apparently still hadn't booked the discount. After paying, the amount seemed strange to us and we did the math and the discount actually wasn't deducted. However, we were able to resolve the problem very easily with the boss. He gave us the 15% cash without any ifs or buts and apologized several times and offered us a drink on the house. Overall we give “der Schmiede” 3/5 stars. The service and food can still be improved. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. We would recommend the restaurant for anyone who likes classics like schnitzel or burgers, but you shouldn't expect anything special. Maybe we'll try “the forge” again at some point and see if everything works out better.

The upper floor was closed even though there was no activity there. Service was disinterested to listless. The food was plain and the quality was poor. Putting two dry Viennese-style schnitzels on top of each other and putting a slice of cheese and ham in between is not Cordon Bleu. Not recommended. Beer was tasty, but rarely eaten so badly.

Today I had a beer with my wife in the blacksmith's shop, the staff was, in my opinion, incompetent. Didn't know the difference between the light beer and the wheat beer and when paying, it felt like it took 3 people 10 minutes to determine the two beer prices. I also felt like I was in an oriental restaurant because the waitresses were all very oriental. (I have nothing against foreigners)

Unfortunately not at all what we had promised ourselves. First our reserved table with a tap was swapped for a normal table at the bar. But that was just the beginning. Ordered 5 drinks and got the wrong drink 5 times. Afterwards we were asked by the bar what we would imagine the drink to be like. We were asked several times for free dips, but unfortunately we never received any. (After asking several times we were able to get a small pot of mayonnaise) Completely overwhelmed service, coupled with a poorly organized reservation system. Food is way too expensive and unfortunately just okay. Unfortunately, absolutely no recommendation.

Went there for the second time before the concert and were happy to come back. Both the burger and the schnitzel were plentiful and really tasty. Unfortunately we waited over 3/4 hour for the food. We sat outside and even though it's right on a street, you don't feel bothered by the noise. The service staff was friendly and helpful, but not very attentive, so you had to wait a long time for a chance to order another drink or pay the bill. Conclusion: super tasty but takes time.

There is a good selection of different dishes, including vegetarian ones. Everything is freshly prepared and the portions are really big. Very good value for money. It was completely delicious. I will visit the store again. The missing star is given for a shorter waiting time, which was a bit long.

After the initial positive impression of the restaurant and the service with a nice welcome, we were quickly disappointed. The restaurant has 2 floors because we preferred to sit upstairs, so we went upstairs without stopping the waitress. After we waited 1/30 of an hour, we were alone upstairs, the cook came upstairs (probably wanted to take a break etc.) we then spoke to him, after absolute confusion and horror, he apologized with great regret, then left annoyed downstairs and told the waitress that she should please take our order, the waitress then came upstairs, visibly annoyed, but still tried to seem friendly, without apologizing or anything like that, she then said that she wouldn't serve upstairs because she didn't have the overview, I would say it was a mistake to do my job, after we were sitting downstairs the waitress came and said that her colleague (the chef who we had talked to before and who more or less took our order) said that we wanted this and that, without the menu again to serve etc. We had the Schmiedeburger twice and once with sweet potato fries, which had probably been forgotten when the waitress took the order but were still charged. I had to wait 20 minutes for the waitress to bring me my ashtray, the restaurant was rather sparsely busy at the time, instead she stood inside drinking beer and talking to one of the colleagues (boss?). The cutlery wasn't really clean and there was chocolate pudding on the fries. Nevertheless, you have to praise the chef here, who reacted very well to us and who showed a lot of remorse, in contrast to the waitress. It took her more than 10 minutes to get the bill at the end (the restaurant was still rather sparsely busy) I don't think I've ever been served so badly, very sad.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, the music was very loud, my request to turn it down a little was immediately fulfilled. I can highly recommend the restaurant, but it doesn't look very good with parking spaces, but there is a parking garage very close by.

A somewhat unusual restaurant in the neighborhood, we sat outside, which is special because it is very loud. But you're right in the middle of it all. Great service staff, all nice and attentive and everything in a reasonable time. I didn't think it was a bad thing at all that some dishes were out that evening, it just shows that they try to always have everything fresh, so you can't stock up on huge quantities. In my opinion, that speaks more for the restaurant. Having your own butcher shop is of course a huge plus point. The food we got was delicious and the price was absolutely right. The beer we used was great, only the pale ale was a real flop, it had nothing to do with an ale, it tasted exactly like a pilsner, just a little more bitter. I even told the nice waitress that, she thanked me for the criticism and said that she would definitely pass it on and I actually believe that. Overall, an absolute recommendation.

A nice and modern restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Very tasty beer with proud prices. But that's about it for the positive things. We wanted to have the “Happy Burgers” campaign. However, we were denied the promotion because we had not reserved it in advance. When we decided on other dishes, we were told that these dishes had run out. The following meal we ordered was inedible. The cordon bleu was not cooked through. The vegetables are fat and cold. Even the salad was greasy. The fries were only halfway fried and the steak was as leathery as a piece of shoe sole. The staff reacted great. They apologized to us several times and we didn't have to pay for the entire meal. Maybe the cook was unavailable that day. Due to the very friendly staff, we will give the blacksmith a second chance. The restaurant is otherwise really great.

The food was very good and very tasty. The staff is super friendly and fulfills almost all of the guests' wishes. It's a very pleasant atmosphere here, you feel very comfortable.

Since there were six of us, we made a reservation. Although the reservation was confirmed a day in advance, there was no reservation. The restaurant is new and appears very bare and sober, apart from the Germany decoration. We ordered 4x burgers, 2 with sweet potatoes and 2 with normal fries. The buns were very dry, and the patty only had a drop of sauce and was rather tasteless. The sweet potato fries were totally cross and the drop of dip, which was also served incorrectly at 2 times, couldn't really improve the dish. We also ordered 1x tarte flambée and 1x asparagus bowl, only this dish was convincing. We had high hopes for the announced fusion cuisine, but unfortunately we were very disappointed.

EU election campaign comes to a successful end on Sunday. Result 5%+ and the same applies to the beer😉. Service 1A and the best weather on the viewing terrace: 100% fun.

Very nice restaurant with a great ambience. Food was very tasty, the meat is to die for. Unfortunately, the Alster was 80% Sprite and the nice staff were a bit overwhelmed and confused at times despite the relatively empty restaurant. Still 4 out of 5 stars. We recommend!

Nice atmosphere and that's about it. Hardworking but not very competent staff, food from the convection oven, like in the classic snack kitchen. It may suit some guests, but my standards are higher. But no matter, at least the return is right!!!

What can you say, the bosses don't pay employees who quit. It couldn't be worse.

The food was great. Staff was friendly. Service was also great. The vanilla pudding also went well with the fries.

My first time in Hannover from London and the best steak I’ve had in Europe and the black M beer is amazing. The beer flight is a must.

A wonderful new location for smaller events (on the upper floor). The employees are friendly and approachable, and we like the concept surrounding the in-house beer. I'd love to come back (again) ☺️

“Currywurst full” is announced for Wednesday. Among other things, we also ordered currywurst - when we asked for another, we were told that this was not possible today because of the trade fair. The place wasn't overly crowded. Nowhere was it stated that the offer on the card should not be valid. The food itself was okay, but we felt cheated. In addition, the service staff, who is certainly not responsible for this business behavior, did not want (or were not allowed to?) to accept a tip when paying. This won't be our regular pub!

There were 6 of us in the forge. A table was ordered on the first floor with the option to tap beer yourself. When we arrived we were only told that the system was broken. When asked how we would be accommodated, the only answer given was that we had nothing to demand. If so, you would offer something. It would have been possible to inform us beforehand, then we might have booked something else. After all, it was also about the event with the do-it-yourself tap. Then the food came. It was tasty, but the portions were quite small. The next mistake was with dessert. I ordered a chocolate cake with yellow pudding. A chocolate pudding arrived with a dollop of cream. Here, too, the waitress just said flippantly that the kitchen must have done something wrong... Afterwards a waitress walked past me and dropped a bowl of mayonnaise. This splashed against my pants and jacket. The waitress didn't apologize. After asking, she at least brought me a napkin to wipe with. She didn't wipe up the rest on the floor. At the end, the waitress brought a schnapps for everyone to make up for it, but didn't take into account that 2 of the 6 people didn't drink any alcohol.

What was particularly noticeable was the good service! The price-performance ratio for the location is completely fine & everything tasted great! And finally a shop that does sweet potato fries well. We were very satisfied.

We really liked it, there is an event there every day.

The 5 of us had reserved a table last week, and after a few minutes we looked for a table ourselves because no one thought it necessary to greet us. After waiting at our table for 20 minutes, we asked the next table how long they had been waiting for their drinks, and after they said it had been almost 50 minutes, we then left. We were in the restaurant for 25 minutes and still didn't have a menu in our hands.

We were very satisfied. Unfortunately the staff was a bit understaffed. But they tried to make it a nice evening with humor. Alcohol rules 🤣

Things can sometimes not run smoothly in a restaurant. The way the service in the forge reacts to longer waiting times (it was very busy) is exemplary! Friendly, present, courteous, customer-oriented - really strong! The food is also delicious, sufficiently portioned and at a reasonable price-performance ratio. Another plus: the beers - super good!

I can't rate the food because I was only there for a drink. Other visitors' plates looked good. The decor is cozy and the staff is friendly.

Simply a really nice bistro/restaurant. You feel at home here, which ultimately has to do with the great service and the ambience. Here you will receive friendly service and the food is world class. A small kicker provides some variety where you can really let off steam. The menu is varied and there is something for everyone. Price performance and portions are also great. We really enjoy coming here.

I would like to ask the owner to rethink his concept because your kitchen has nothing to do with cooking. You use the combi steamer and pretend to be fine dining, that's a disgrace. Where I get my impressions from is my local, your local.

Despite a confirmed reservation, my table was canceled just a few hours before the appointment because it was "tight".
