Delicious coffee, nice atmosphere

Was here in the middle of the week with my best friend around 4pm. The store wasn't really full, there wasn't much going on. We had planned 1 hour of time and wanted to have a drink and a snack after shopping. After about 20 minutes, in which we neither received a signal from the waiter that he had seen us nor were spoken to, I got up and asked at the bar, where 4 employees were standing and chatting, whether we could please be served at the table or whether it would take a long time since we didn't have much time, at most 1 hour. There was no friendly “sorry.” I was looked at with an annoyed look and then I was just told "One is coming soon!" Waited another 15 minutes, so a total of 35 minutes, still no one came and then we left. The four ladies were still standing at the bar talking. I have the greatest understanding for the catering industry when the store is full and you have to wait. Everything OK. But the store wasn't full and we weren't the only ones who left without being served. A couple left in front of us, also annoyed. I hope this review is taken seriously and something changes. When they hear such reviews, the operators often think: "It was never there for 35 minutes, it was probably only 5 minutes, you don't need to take it seriously!" In any case, you have lost me as a customer.

Seriously?! Pancakes from the bag just warmed up briefly in the microwave with 3 drops of maple syrup on top? This is beneath you. They came after 10 minutes. Ok. But then we waited over 30 minutes for the cappuccino and only got it after asking several times!!??? No no! Never again!

Unfortunately, service was very slow. From sitting down until the first drink was on the table - we waited an hour. The store was probably half full.

Nice restaurant with mainly fries dishes. Salads were ok, the lunch menu was quite good value for money. The staff can be quite overwhelmed at times, but always polite. Unfortunately, the iced coffee in the afternoon was very different from the description on the menu. However, brittle and waffles were then delivered upon request

Unfortunately, an absolute failure. We were a relatively large group and didn't have a reservation. The restaurant was already relatively full but there were still free seats and it was not communicated that, for example, there was currently no capacity. We had to wait an incredibly long time until we could order and some of the service staff were very unfriendly and didn't speak any German. It definitely gave the impression that there wasn't enough staff. We had to wait a long time for the food and then it came differently than what was shown on the menu. The salad was missing bread and the taste wasn't good either. For example, the tomatoes were absolutely no longer fresh. We are actually used to a slightly different quality from the Extra Sheet, so it is very disappointing.

I am very dissatisfied with my visit to your restaurant. I ordered a dish that, firstly, took way too long. After it was prepared in the kitchen, it sat on the counter for a visibly long time while the waiters served other tables. It wasn't until 20 minutes later that my food was brought - completely cold. I refrained from complaining directly because I knew full well that my food would then be thrown away and I would have to wait a very long time again. Still, it was a disappointing and disrespectful experience. This is not what service should be like in a restaurant at this level.

Like all Extrablatt cafés, it's large and delicious. Huge selection. The cocktails are top-top-top! Unfortunately, the service wasn't that good. We had to go to the bar after 20 minutes to order, even though it wasn't particularly busy. The same thing happened when we paid. No one came to ask if we wanted anything else, so we just had one cocktail and moved on to a cocktail bar.

None of the three servers present in the café on Sunday afternoon (Feb 9, 2025) bothered to show us an available table, take our orders or even clean the dirty dishes on the table from the previous customers. We left after waiting for at least half an hour. No response even after repeatedly bringing it to their notice. A really unpleasant experience, and will never visit this branch again.

Disappointing! We went there today at lunchtime but unfortunately it was a bad experience. The play area for the children was dirty, the adults' food was just okay, but the nuggets for the children were unreasonable. When we pointed this out to the staff, we received no response - not even an apology. No replacement, full payment. Customer service looks different! Definitely the last visit for us.

Terribly loud music that doesn't fit into a coffee at all, the food is not good but generally not in any special paper in Hanover. The operation also takes ages in several extra “leaves” in Hanover. I had the problem several times that different dishes arrived so differently in a group that some were already finished before the others got them. Plus it's really really expensive. I don't understand my mistake that I keep coming back...

Subject: Concerning Discriminatory Behavior at Café Extrablatt, Steintor Dear Café Extrablatt Administration, I would like to share an extremely disappointing experience I had at your Steintor branch. While I have always received polite and courteous service at other locations (Kröpke, Königsworther Str., and even at Steintor from other staff members), the behavior of a particular employee (image attached below) was consistently discriminatory on multiple occasions. In December, just before Christmas, Incident 1: Saturday (Crowded but Seats Available) On a Saturday, I visited the Steintor branch with my Indian friend, Arijit. Although the café was busy, there were several available seats. We approached a staff member and asked where we could sit. He deliberately ignored us at first. When we asked again, he mumbled something and then stated that there was no available space. As we were about to leave, we noticed that he promptly greeted and seated a group of three who arrived after us and appeared to be German. Although we found this concerning, we decided to overlook it, considering the overall busyness of the café that day. Incident 2: Weekday (Empty Café, Overt Neglect) A few days later, on a weekday around 8 PM, I visited alone after my office for a coffee. The café was nearly empty. Upon seeing the same employee, I greeted him with a smile, but he ignored me and instead acknowledged a German couple behind me. After waiting 10 minutes, I called him over to place my order, but he continued to ignore me while serving other customers. Eventually, after 40 minutes, a different staff member took my order. I finally received my coffee after a 47-minute wait. Although I could have left earlier, I deliberately observed his behavior to confirm my suspicions. When I finished my coffee after 50 minutes, I requested the bill from the same employee, but he once again ignored me. Instead, he greeted and served a newly arrived family with drinks. Rather than attending to me, he stepped outside to smoke and chat with a friend. Frustrated, I approached the counter and explained the situation to the female staff member who had earlier taken my order. She sincerely apologized. At this point, I chose to leave without paying (a modest €3.95) to make the employee realize the consequences of his actions. Only after the female staff member informed him did he finally pay attention. He then ran after me, aggressively demanding payment and threatening to call the police. I stopped, paid the bill to the female employee, and calmly asked him to explain his discriminatory behavior. He had no response but continued shouting, pushing me, and repeating his threats to involve the police. I then informed him that I would be the one reporting him for discrimination. Request for Action I urge Café Extrablatt's management to take immediate disciplinary action against this employee, as such behavior tarnishes the café’s reputation. I'm really shocked at the disrespect I experienced in this cafe. I ordered a cappuccino which cost €3.95 and gave the waiter Murat €4. I said it was fine, but instead of just saying thank you, he looked at me stupidly, gave me back the 5 cents and said, "Give that to some bum!" I have never experienced such an outrageous statement. When I reacted puzzled, he became loud and justified his behavior by saying he was having a bad day. Honestly, that is no excuse for such behavior - neither towards me nor the other guests at my table. This way of speaking to paying customers is not only rude, but simply disrespectful. The café may be okay in itself, but with such service staff you'll never want to go there again. There are many other places where guests are treated with respect. I definitely can't recommend this cafe!

Such a typical extra sheet. It's nicely furnished and super well located. The service was good. Unfortunately it is really loud, you have to be engaged to have an ongoing conversation. The coffee was okay. The waffle I had wasn't worth repeating. It's good that there is a well-thought-out children's play area there. What's bad is that it's really rancid.

This Café Extrablatt was my favorite and most comfortable branch of the ones I have visited so far. Appropriately designed for Christmas, great ambience. The employees were very nice, even if we had to wait a bit before someone took our order. The food was delicious and nothing to complain about. The price for 2 people, a large meal and drinks each, was 35 euros, which was also legitimate. I would only have liked a little less dressing on my side salad. We will come again when we have the opportunity 😊

The waiters ignore the guests. They say they'll come back, but they never come. Nice staff, excellent service by Murat (and the team) who understand the importance of a great hospitable welcoming smile. The meals are great value, we tried dinner and later breakfast, both very nice! As the restaurant is fairly big, we've managed to get a seat every time we came in, even on Saturday during the Hannover Christmas Market. On the downside as a result, it can get quite busy for the small team to keep up. But the staff are working hard to manage, we came back several times, as we loved it so much!

One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. At Extrablatt in Hanover we were kept waiting for 45 minutes by a waiter with long black hair without our order being taken. Despite asking twice, we were rudely told that we should go somewhere else if it didn't suit us. After this eternity of waiting, we finally left without ordering. To make matters worse, two other tables also had the same problem. This waiter's behavior and attitude were absolutely unacceptable. If you value good service then avoid this place.

I left the restaurant after 20 minutes because there was no service. The restaurant was only about 5% full. I saw 3 service staff, but no one came, even though I made my presence known. Only the ambience, because it is still new, deserves a few stars.

Budget place. Good coffee, strudel, cuisine. There is a summer area for smokers with infrared heaters. When there are a lot of people, you will have to wait for the waiter. A good place to meet with friends.

We went there for breakfast, not for the first time, but for the last time. I don't want the opaque menu from the start. We had the American breakfast and the Italian breakfast. Unfortunately we couldn't find the "normal breakfast" on the menu and the service couldn't help either. The food was OK, only there was no butter or margarine for the rolls. When asked, a piece of butter measuring 3 cm x 3 cm was brought to us in a cardboard bowl with the note that it was extra!? The bill actually said extra butter for 70 cents. I find the bread sticks advertised on the menu poor. These are slightly larger pretzel sticks that taste like nothing. This is the worst extra paper in all of Hanover, other branches are much better.

We were there for breakfast as a family of 4 and the portions filled us up 👍🏼. Unfortunately, we weren't brought a glass of tap water with the cafe hot drinks, that's not part of the service here👎🏼. My complaint about the spoiled/soured mozzarella balls was dismissed with the comment "that wasn't the case with the other customers" 😤. This was the first and last visit for us...

I was here in the Extrablatt with a friend. We are positively impressed, the food was very tasty, the service was great and the atmosphere is super nice, you can only feel comfortable there. I can't understand the negative reviews and that's why I can't be put off by them, you always have to make up your own mind. We will definitely come back!!!!!

Disappointing service and poor hospitality We wanted to have a drink at the Extrablatt around 11 p.m., even though the shop wasn't supposed to close until midnight. There was almost nothing going on inside or outside, most of the places were empty. Just as we wanted to sit down outside, the waiter came and told us straight away that it had already been the last round. It seemed as if the employees simply wanted to close early because they didn't feel like working anymore. Something like this is unacceptable for a restaurant that is actually open until midnight. If you don't enjoy your work or aren't prepared to wait until the end to serve your guests, it might be better to choose another career. We were very disappointed and will not go back.

We tried to have lunch here today (10/14/2024) around 1:00 p.m. OK, it's a big store. But........ 3 tables were occupied inside and 5 tables outside were occupied (counted when leaving the cafe). We had to wait over 15 minutes before anyone even noticed us (we were sitting in the middle of the cafe) until a waiter/waiter came to us and asked about the drinks. Since we had plenty of time beforehand, we already knew what we wanted to eat. Then it was said: we don't have this and we don't have that either..... oh yes, and that's not for sale either,......sorry! The SORRY was late, but it came. Consequence: we got up and looked for another restaurant. Luckily, Hanover has enough restaurants. P.S.: at least 1 waiter and a waitress were there! But chatting with the gentleman/colleague behind the counter (who, by the way, was just strolling around with his arms crossed behind his back, unamused) may have been immensely important for the staff at that moment; but it is detrimental to business! Everyone as they like......... I had enough of so much ignorance. Never again!

Racist waiter. My girlfriend and I were in this restaurant on the evening of October 4th and ate for 49 euros. We left around 10pm and my friend left her jacket somewhere. When she politely returned to ask about the jacket, she was completely ignored, rudely thrown out, and met with eye rolls and racist gestures. There were two male employees there - one billed us normally, and the other stood at the door around 10 p.m. and made strange looks and gestures. So it was pretty clear that we wouldn't be able to find the jacket anymore... The jacket isn't worth much, but if you forget something here, you'll probably get the “racism package” right away.

We were there with a large group of 14 people, which, as expected, can always be a challenge in the catering industry. Murat's service was great! He tried hard and was very patient with us. Gladly again! 👍🏼

Happy hour in the “Extrablatt”. We (60+) were on a short vacation in Hanover and came across this restaurant by chance. Great atmosphere, unfortunately one point deducted because of the loud music on Friday and Saturday. Today on Sunday the volume was appropriate. Top staff overall with Murat at the forefront, we were looked after fantastically during our “nightcap”.
