Incredibly rude service. A man named Mur** moved us to a different seat for no reason and then made a snide remark when we paid because we didn't tip him for his excellent service.

Very friendly and attentive service. The dark-haired young man clearly enjoys his work! This enthusiasm is contagious! The food was fantastic—the salad was crisp and fresh, the wraps and the schnitzel with fries were excellent. The dips and dressings were also really good. The ambiance, especially the subtle golden lighting, is lovely. However, I personally found the music too overpowering. Every table had a speaker directly above it, making conversation difficult. The prices are comparatively low. Unbeatable value for the quality and portion size. I'll definitely be back!

There were four of us this evening, and we sat down inside. After about 20 minutes without anyone coming, I went to the counter and politely asked if we should order there. The employee said no, his colleague would be with us shortly. After another 25-30 minutes of waiting, we left, thirsty. A 45-50 minute wait without an order being taken or a greeting is completely unacceptable for any restaurant.

I would like to complain about an unpleasant experience during my recent visit to your Café Extra Blatt Steintor. I waited over an hour for my order without being served anything. When I informed the waiter that I had been waiting so long, he responded in a rude tone: "You can either leave or wait until morning." The waiter in question – a young man with long hair – was very rude and showed little respect for the guests. I also noticed that other visitors have made similar complaints about him. I therefore request that you investigate the incident and take appropriate measures to ensure the quality of service and respectful treatment of guests.

I was at Extrablatt Steintor Hannover with three friends on October 27, 2025, at around 6:15 p.m. We had to wait almost 45 minutes before anyone came to us. The employee who finally arrived was very rude and told us, "Either you accept it like this, or you won't be coming back!" He had long, black hair tied in a bun. The behavior was completely disrespectful, and we didn't feel welcome at all. After reading the Google reviews, I saw that several other guests had similar experiences.

The food was delicious. We felt sorry for the waitress, as she was obviously responsible for everything on her own. So we waited a long time for our order. Despite the stress, she was good about it. One point deducted for the ambiance, as it was simply loud. You couldn't hear the person sitting across from you. The music is okay, but if I want to party, I'll go to another location. Unlike in other branches, you don't sit at the next table.

Very poorly managed restaurant here in Hanover. We regularly go to "Extrablatt" in various cities during our city trips and have always been very satisfied. My wife got a hamburger that was ice cold inside. The base of my wine glass was very dirty (crusted red wine?). When I complained, the young waitress simply asked if she should pour the wine into another glass.

The food is always very good and plentiful. The waitress, Murat, is very attentive and polite. We felt very comfortable with him, and he always has time for a friendly chat. Because of this, we always enjoy coming back. Greetings from Gesa, Monika, and Anja

If you call in the afternoon to make a reservation for the same day, you get an automated message saying that reservations can only be made online. However, online reservations are only possible 12 hours in advance. It's a shame that they apparently don't want to allow reservations here.

Subject: Concerning Discriminatory Behavior at Café Extrablatt, Steintor by one particular employee (picture attached) Dear Café Extrablatt Administration, I would like to share an extremely disappointing experience I had at your Steintor branch. While I have always received polite and courteous service at other locations (Kröpke, Königsworther Str., and even at Steintor from other staff members), the behavior of a particular employee (image attached below) was consistently discriminatory on multiple occasions. In December, just before Christmas, Incident 1: Saturday (Crowded but Seats Available) On a Saturday, I visited the Steintor branch with my Indian friend, Arijit. Although the café was busy, there were several available seats. We approached a staff member and asked where we could sit. He deliberately ignored us at first. When we asked again, he mumbled something and then stated that there was no available space. As we were about to leave, we noticed that he promptly greeted and seated a group of three who arrived after us and appeared to be German. Although we found this concerning, we decided to overlook it, considering the overall busyness of the café that day. Incident 2: Weekday (Empty Café, Overt Neglect) A few days later, on a weekday around 8 PM, I visited alone after my office for a coffee. The café was nearly empty. Upon seeing the same employee, I greeted him with a smile, but he ignored me and instead acknowledged a German couple behind me. After waiting 10 minutes, I called him over to place my order, but he continued to ignore me while serving other customers. Eventually, after 40 minutes, a different staff member took my order. I finally received my coffee after a 47-minute wait. Although I could have left earlier, I deliberately observed his behavior to confirm my suspicions. When I finished my coffee after 50 minutes, I requested the bill from the same employee, but he once again ignored me. Instead, he greeted and served a newly arrived family with drinks. Rather than attending to me, he stepped outside to smoke and chat with a friend. Frustrated, I approached the counter and explained the situation to the female staff member who had earlier taken my order. She sincerely apologized. At this point, I chose to leave without paying (a modest €3.95) to make the employee realize the consequences of his actions. Only after the female staff member informed him did he finally pay attention. He then ran after me, aggressively demanding payment and threatening to call the police. I stopped, paid the bill to the female employee, and calmly asked him to explain his discriminatory behavior. He had no response but continued shouting, pushing me, and repeating his threats to involve the police. I then informed him that I would be the one reporting him for discrimination. Request for Action I urge Café Extrablatt's management to take immediate disciplinary action against this employee, as such behavior tarnishes the café’s reputation. I was sitting at this Extrablatt earlier, ordered a Coke, and asked for a fresh bowl of water for my dog, because of course I wouldn't let him drink from a bowl that other dogs had already lapped out of. What does the waitress do? She comes to the table in a bad mood and with even worse bleached hair and tells me that "it's not allowed" (?). I once worked at Extrablatt myself, when I was a student, and we would bring water for the dogs ourselves as soon as we saw one was there. These days, it seems too much to ask just to fill up a bowl and bring it over. Maybe hire staff who understand proper German and know how to behave.

The food here is a complete disappointment. I ordered squid rings, and they initially forgot the pizza rolls. When I asked for them, they brought me some, but they were dry and rock-hard from the day before. The salads don't seem to be washed here either, and they're definitely not fresh. "Extrablatt" – A Culinary Experience with Room for Improvement The "Extrablatt" impresses at first glance with its original concept and cozy, lovingly designed interior. You feel at home as soon as you enter, and you can tell that great importance is placed on creating a pleasant ambiance. Unfortunately, the culinary experience falls far short of expectations. While the food generally tastes okay, it doesn't offer culinary highlights. The presentation is particularly disappointing: the dishes appear carelessly presented, which unfortunately dampens the overall impression. What really stands out, however, is the service. It couldn't be more unprofessional! The waiters don't clear used plates, but instead simply place the new ones anywhere on the table – sometimes even on the ashtray. This usually remains untouched anyway. We had to ask several times before the empty plates were finally cleared away. Another criticism: We ordered a cold chocolate with our breakfast offerings. Unfortunately, we weren't told that it was chocolate ice cream with waffles and nut pieces—for breakfast, mind you! When we asked, we received the succinct reply: "That's all we have." How can someone be so inattentive and disinterested? I find it hard to understand. All in all: The concept and ambiance of the "Extrablatt" are charming, but both the culinary offerings and, above all, the service leave a lot to be desired. Therefore, I'll probably steer clear of this restaurant in the coming years.

I'm very grateful that Extrablatt is located right here on Marstall Platz. It's a large, high-quality restaurant right next to Steintor in the red-light district. We Hanoverians are very lucky that the Extrablatt operators are investing so much money here. The staff are all friendly and on the ball, moving quickly and trying to provide the best possible service for you. I often come here during the day for short business meetings. It's really very good.

Management, please pay attention to the waiter, Murat. His principles and character should not be allowed to enter the workplace. We were there today (Father's Day) around 10:30 a.m. At that time, there was ONE waitress alone inside (it wasn't even full; there were six empty tables beside us alone). After we sat down, we had to wave her over after 15 minutes because she apparently hadn't noticed our arrival. After she took our order, she pointed out that it would take a little longer for the food (breakfast) to arrive. After 30 minutes, the cup of coffee and two orange juices arrived. After another 15 minutes, the two breakfast plates arrived. The American breakfast was missing the grilled tomato slices. They were served at the bar upon request. During the 1.5 hours we were there, no one came by to ask if we wanted something else to drink/eat or if everything was okay. We then went to the bar and had to make ourselves known that we wanted to pay. The food was okay. The waitress and bar staff were very nice, but the service was really lousy and I can't recommend this Extrablatt location at least.

I am very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. There were shards of glass in my drink, which unfortunately got part of my mouth. When I pointed this out to the server, he showed no interest or apology—instead, he was rude and showed me the door. I've had two bad experiences at this store: 1. During the Christmas season, I ordered a hot drink, and while drinking it, part of the glass cup shattered, leaving me with shards of glass in my mouth. The service was friendly, but I had to wait a long time for a replacement. 2. I ordered vegan Bolognese, but the menu didn't mention vegan Parmesan. The Bolognese was served with Parmesan. I asked twice whether it was vegan, and the answer was yes. The third time I asked, because the taste was too real, it turned out that the Parmesan was real. A replacement was promised, but it took an extremely long time to arrive, even though it had been ready the whole time; it had already cooled down. No apology or friendly behavior from the service, even though the store wasn't busy.

Was here in the middle of the week with my best friend around 4pm. The store wasn't really full, there wasn't much going on. We had planned 1 hour of time and wanted to have a drink and a snack after shopping. After about 20 minutes, in which we neither received a signal from the waiter that he had seen us nor were spoken to, I got up and asked at the bar, where 4 employees were standing and chatting, whether we could please be served at the table or whether it would take a long time since we didn't have much time, at most 1 hour. There was no friendly “sorry.” I was looked at with an annoyed look and then I was just told "One is coming soon!" Waited another 15 minutes, so a total of 35 minutes, still no one came and then we left. The four ladies were still standing at the bar talking. I have the greatest understanding for the catering industry when the store is full and you have to wait. Everything OK. But the store wasn't full and we weren't the only ones who left without being served. A couple left in front of us, also annoyed. I hope this review is taken seriously and something changes. When they hear such reviews, the operators often think: "It was never there for 35 minutes, it was probably only 5 minutes, you don't need to take it seriously!" Like all Extrablatt cafés, it's large and delicious. Huge selection. The cocktails are top-top-top! Unfortunately, the service wasn't that good. Disappointing! We went there today at lunchtime but unfortunately it was a bad experience. The play area for the children was dirty, the adults' food was just okay, but the nuggets for the children were unreasonable. When we pointed this out to the staff, we received no response - not even an apology. No replacement, full payment. Customer service looks different! Definitely the last visit for us.

Terribly loud music that doesn't fit into a coffee at all, the food is not good but generally not in any special paper in Hanover. The operation also takes ages in several extra “leaves” in Hanover. I had the problem several times that different dishes arrived so differently in a group that some were already finished before the others got them. Plus it's really really expensive.
