Grand Cafè "der Vagenbond" in Lichtenau

Der Vagenbond Chef and the wife have a very cozy restaurant and hotel in the middle of the forest. We were three people, we all ordered the steak and it was prepared to perfection 💪🏾. A few beers down the line and the chef and his wife were constantly checking on us if all was perfect. I will definitely be back again and again , and guys keep it up . Everything was perfect 🎉🎉🎉

The owner gave us a very warm welcome. The dining room is comfortably furnished and invites you to linger for a while. In sunny weather, you can enjoy your food and drinks in the large and beautiful beer garden. The food was extremely delicious, with fresh ingredients, lovingly prepared, and the portions were truly filling! The value for money is excellent! Highly recommended 👍👍

The chef still cooks here himself. While searching for new places to eat, we found this quaint restaurant and enjoyed delicious German, Dutch, and Thai dishes. Everything was freshly prepared by the cheerful chef himself. We were very satisfied and would gladly return 😁

What a lovely restaurant! We had a delicious meal with a wide selection on the menu. We were served very kindly by a German woman. The food was prepared by the Dutch owner, and it was truly delicious! The beers were also very good. Definitely recommended! 🍻🍴. It's worth getting off the highway ⛽️

Nice inn with Dutch specialties. The service was a bit overwhelmed, but always super nice and friendly. The food was okay, but unfortunately, we didn't really like it overall. A good option for a break on the road if you don't have too high expectations.

As a cyclist, I spent a few perfect hours in the sun. My vegan/vegetarian heart was fulfilled, and the service was very warm.

Great atmosphere, extremely nice hospitable Dutch hosts and amazing food! Truly worth a visit. Also, they have Dutch snacks on the menu which was a really nice surprise!

Location is very nice as well as the service. The burger was really good and they had true Dutch Bittergarnituur! Perfect spot for a nice lunch or dinner after a long walk. The Dutch host are really friendly and make great food!!

After a long hike, we stopped at Haus Deventer and then sat down for dinner in the restaurant. The atmosphere and service were great, so we spread out and sampled the beer menu. For me, it was the Pilgerbier that won us over. Great host, great food, great drinks—we had a lovely evening!

Another delicious meal on the way home from Austria! Take the Lichtenau exit on the A44, which is the shortest route. You can refuel cheaply one day earlier! Until next time.

One of the best rest stops! It's always worth coming back here. We ate here both on the way there and back on our trip. A great, loving innkeeper who also has an open ear for special requests and made our youngest happy. Always my pleasure!

Whenever we are in the area, we always stop by! Having fun with RJ and his schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce is unsurpassed. Highly recommended!

We spent the night in Haus Dewenter, and the café-restaurant Der Vagebond is located in the same building. Even though we were out of season and it was therefore very quiet, we were received very friendly and the food tasted good.

A I quote “pilgrim friendly cafe” where dogs are also welcome. The apple pie and the milk coffee were delicious. The service was very friendly and nice.

We stopped by on our way from Belgium to Prague on vacation around Europe, and had great burgers, schnitzel, and a sausage with ‘Dutch’ fries. The service was exceptional! We will definitely come back next time we’re driving through. Thanks so much.

After a long day of skiing we ended up here for a delicious dinner for two. We arrived relatively late in the evening and yet we were well received. The food was delicious and it was on the table quickly. The host Robert-Jan is of Dutch descent and came to have a chat and thank us for coming.

Food was good, service too, ambience too. The parking lot is a little hidden behind the house, so we drove past it in the dark. Highly recommended!

Very nice place to eat and drink beers in the garden with the views. It’s quite the serene place. Certainly worth to drive to or visit! The restaurant is dog-friendly! Als Nederlander extra leuk dat de kok ook Nederlands is (te zien op de kaart), maar alle typische Duitse schnitzels zijn er ook. Er is ook een groot grasveld, waar je denk ik ook wel lekker kan picknicken. Er zijn ook meerdere biertjes waar je van kan genieten. :)

Spontan von der Autobahn runter um ne Kleinigkeit zu kauen und hier den optimalen Ort dafür gefunden. Essen war lecker (Salat mit Räucherlachs und Nudeln mit Walnuss Gorgonzola) und auch das Drumherum hat gut gepasst! Empfehlenswert!

Sehr gemütliches Restaurant, mit super leckerem Essen. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und hatten einen tollen Abend dort. Wir kommen sicher gerne wieder. Für längere Abende lädt das angrenzende Hotel zum übernachten ein.

Echt lekker. Selten so lecker holländische Spezialitäten gegessen, mitten in NRW. Die Frikkandel spezial ist ein Gedicht. Absolut empfehlenswerte Einkehr, direkt am Eggeweg. Hunde erlaubt... Tot ziens und bis bald.

In Blankenrode gelegen mit einem lockeren Chef (Koch) aus den Niederlanden. Entsprechend gibt es holländische Pommes, Frikadellen und Bittergarnitur - und etliches mehr, auch vegetarisches. Das Essen war lecker und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Im Haus gibt es auch Übernachtungen und die Gäste (überwiegend Monteure) schienen sehr zufrieden zu sein.
