Service, food and ambience really very good!

Finally a restaurant that offers imaginative vegetarian dishes that taste great and also very attentive and friendly service!

What a piece of jewelry! I saw this building and said straight to my mother: I would at least like to have something to drink there! We then ate a currywurst with fries and mayo and panna cotta. The currywurst was exceptional and so was the panna cotta! But there were lots of other delicious things! The young waitresses today were both very nice and really professional! The atmosphere is of course unique! We'll definitely come back in a few weeks when it gets colder and eat something inside! I'm already looking forward to it :)

Good food, nice ambience and nice service.

I particularly liked the outdoor area... great ambience... The service was very young, and very attentive and friendly... The drinks, especially the apple spritzer, were very tasty... All the drinks came well chilled.. For starters we had dried tomatoes... dip... and baked sheep's cheese... In combination with the fresh bread it was a good starter... The meatburger with French fries also tasted very good... The dumplings with mushrooms were a bit tasteless... But there was salt and pepper on the table... The Gothic House is definitely worth a visit.

Classy and clean. The food is great, I'm not a fish fan but the salmon in sesame coating is a poem. Super juicy and the small potato dumplings with spinach (I forgot the name) were really good. Prices for two people are okay

Were very disappointed with the food: very small portions, salad too salty, soup and sauce tasted too sour. Unaccommodating. A very annoying evening for us, even if the service was friendly. Will not be a guest here again.

We reserved a table for two people for Thursday evening. The ambience was really great. Everything was done in typical medieval style with original ceiling beams from the 15th century. The food was even slow food default

Beautiful old house with a small (but nice) menu

Very tasty food!! Went with a group and ordered various dishes, but everyone loved their meal!!! Recommended!!! And also reasonably priced.

Excellent address from all points of view.

Unfortunately I can't recommend the food at all. We ordered a tarte flambée there as a starter and shared it. For the main course we ordered hamburgers, but they were so greasy that none of us could eat them. Even the bread was pure fat. We sent them back almost untouched, but we were still charged for them in the end. Instead of approaching the guests, we were treated very unfriendly by the boss, but apparently she had no appropriate training in this area. Never again!

I didn't rate it with less stars cause is not possible. Worst place in germany

Very nice service and the ambience is very nice to look at. Food-wise it went like this. I had the vegetarian burger. Unfortunately for €22 it was shockingly... boring. I had already eaten better vegetarian or vegan. Unfortunately, the cheese on the burger also made me a little uncomfortable. The whole thing is very unfortunate. I was actually happy because I saw the restaurant on TV recently. Well... then not every shot is a hit. Maybe sometime next time.

Super tasty, super nice service

We were given a four-course meal in the Gothic House and were very impressed. From the great service, which gave great advice and support on all courses and drinks, to the food, it was really perfect. We skipped the added meat/fish and ate completely vegetarian/vegan - all 4 courses were very tasty, some very sophisticated and well prepared. Absolute recommendation and we will definitely come back!

The architecture attracted us, the people and the food kept us. Everything superb!

German cuisine - very tasty and imaginatively prepared. Excellent wines. Friendly hospitality in a historic atmosphere. Absolutely recommended!

Highly recommended fine dining in a very nice atmosphere! We typically make a trip to Xanten 2-3 times a year. Last year we were here for the first time in late autumn. At first we were surprised that there were "only" vegetarian dishes, until we noticed that you could choose different "meat side dishes" separately. Both were very well prepared and in original, tasty combinations. We were there again at the weekend. The seasonal menu had changed accordingly, but was again very convincing. The portions were reasonable, so you didn't leave feeling full, which we welcome -- we're not fans of XXL schnitzels. The two waitresses were extremely friendly and the ambience in this historic building is really very nice. (Last time we sat outside, which was nice too.) The fact that the place calls itself a 'bistro' is something of an understatement; some restaurants could do something with it. The selection of wines is very good. Prices are slightly higher but justified due to the quality of the ingredients and the originality of the cuisine. We will go there again!

Today we had dinner here again after several years, we are impressed by the offer and the food, great quality, we would like to come back.

Vegetarian food imaginatively implemented! The small, fine menu is completely sufficient. Simply delicious! And we were impressed by the service. Very friendly, attentive staff!

Place with some vegan option, the option I was able to take was very good... despite the vegetables in pieces I ate it to my heart's content! We would come back for sure!

If you want selected food, you've come to the right place. Many vegetarian and vegan dishes that are not available anywhere else. I recommend it!

Sehr gute Küche, nettes Personal und schönes Ambiente.

Tolle Kreationen, die sehr schmackhaft sind und schön arrangiert werden. Freundlicher Service. Es gibt vegane und einige vegetarische Gerichte, aber wer Fleisch möchte, kann es dazu bestellen. Es wird Wert auf regionale Produkte gelegt. Das Brot als Vorspeise kommt direkt aus der Xantener Mühle ganz in der Nähe. Top!

Mooi oud pand, met een gezellige middeleeuwse sfeer. Je besteld hier een vegetarisch gerecht en kan dan eventueel aanvullen vlees erbij bestellen. Wij hadden de champignon risotto, met erbij een worstje en een herten burger. Achteraf was het vlees erbij niet nodig.

Wir wurden durch ein Schild angelockt. Alles vegetarisch und dazu bucht man die Fleischbeilage. Der Service war fantastisch, die nette Dame war sehr zuvorkommend. Pluspunkte dafür, dass die Kids sofort ihr Essen bekamen. Die Dame versteht ihr Handwerk. Die Karte ist klein aber fein. Für mich war es großartig einfach wählen zu können, ohne bei jedem Gericht fragen zu müssen ob Fleisch mit drin ist. Die Speisen waren sehr lecker, der Grünkohl ist eine klare Empfehlung.

Freundlicher Service, schönes Ambiente und leckeres Essen. Uns gefiel v.a. die Idee der vegetarischen Hauptspeisen, zu denen man bei Bedarf Fleisch oder Fisch dazubestellen konnte. Wir sind immer mal wieder in Xanten, waren aber zum ersten Mal im Restaurant Gotisches Haus und wir kommen sicher wieder!

Seit Anfang 2023 ist ein neuer Pächter in diesem wunderschönen historischem Gebäude. [Ältere Bewertungen sollte man also außer Acht lassen] Die Speisekarte ist überschaubar (was mir persönlich gefällt) und es werden regelmäßig neue Kreationen angeboten. Bei den Speisen und auch bei den Getränken wird sehr viel Wert auf Nachhaltigkeit gelegt und es werden besonders regionale und saisonale Lebensmittel verarbeitet. Die Speisekarte ist zunächst ausschließlich vegetarisch. Wem das nicht ausreicht, kann im nächsten Schritt eine Fleischbeilage dazuwählen. Mir hat die vegetarische Version bisher immer ausgereicht und mich mehr als satt gemacht. Der Koch scheint was von seinem Handwerk zu verstehen und es finden sich immer wieder interessante Gerichte auf der Karte. Wer nicht viel Essen mag, kann es sich auch einfach bei einem Kaffee und super leckeren Kuchen gut gehen lassen. In einem Pläuschen mit der Chefin habe ich nämlich erfahren, dass der Küchenchef auch gelernter Konditormeister ist! Bei meinem nächsten Besuch in Xanten werde ich wohl wieder hier einkehren.

Tolles Ambiente, sehr freundlicher und schneller Service und das Essen ist der Hammer,selten so gut gegessen.Sehr leckere vegetarische Gerichte und wer möchte kann Fleisch oder Fisch dazu buchen, perfekt! Ich bin auf jeden Fall nicht das letzte Mal da gewesen...übrigens ist auch der Kuchen sehr zu empfehlen, wenn schon denn schon 😊

Da bin ich aber froh, dass ich mich spontan für dieses Restaurant entschieden habe. Alles so lecker, dass ich während des Essens das Grinsen gar nicht aus dem Gesicht gekriegt habe. Schade, dass ich nur auf der Durchreise war, ich hätte wahnsinnig gerne die ganze Karte durchprobiert.

Schönes Ambiente, super leckerer selbstgebackener Kuchen…

Unfassbar gutes Essen, haben lange nicht mehr so gut gegessen! Angefangen bei der Vorspeise über das Hauptgericht, bis hin zum Nachtisch war alles perfekt. Es wurden hochwertige Bio bzw. Regionale Produkte genutzt und diese auch noch erstklassig zubereitet und gewürzt. Dazu kam der freundliche und zuvorkommende Service und das malerische Ambiente. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Lieu atypique, un côté rustique. La cuisine est excellente. Les portions sont suffisantes sans être dans l'excès. On savoure les plats bios sans être écœuré par la quantité. Un restaurant à recommander.

Gegessen haben wir noch nicht, aber das Haus ist seit Neuem mit Neuen wiedereröffnet - interessantes Konzept mit lecker zu lesenden vegetarischem Grundessen, bei denen man das Fleisch dazu ordern kann. Die Grundessen lesen sich sehr ausgefallen und andere Gäste erwähnten den leckeren Geschmack und deren Küche als Bereicherung. Bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Xanten werden wir dort auch essen, diesmal waren wir schon satt und haben nur etwas getrunken. Der Wein war sehr lecker....

Leider sind seit Jahren einige Betreiber den großen Fußstapfen nicht gerecht geworden, den die Österreichische Küche von einst hinterlassen hat. Der Service ist gut, das Ambiente ebenfalls. Die Speisekarte bietet leider nur wenig Auswahl an Fleischgerichten. Bleibt zu hoffen, daß dieses ehrwürdige Gebäude irgendwann noch einmal die Gastronomie erfährt, die es verdient.

Das Konzept, alle Gerichte erstmal vegetarisch anzubieten, zu denen man sich eine (fleischliche) Beilage zubuchen kann, finde ich großartig. Meine Fächeraubergine war sehr lecker. Bei der Erbsenbulette hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass auf der Speisekarte steht, dass diese nicht hausgemacht ist, sondern ein convenience Produkt.

Waren heute in Xanten und wollten etwas essen. Dabei sind wir auf dieses fantastische Restaurant gestoßen. Hervorragende Küche, das war definitiv nicht unser letzter Besuch. Service sehr freundlich und ehrlich, war gerade sehr viel zu tun und die Küche ist sehr klein. Alle Speisen werden frisch zubereitet.

Gute Atmosphäre, gutes Essen und nette Bedienung. Gerne wieder.

Uns spricht das Konzept der Nachhaltigkeit und des Tierwohls (kurze Wege bei der Schlachtung, Freilandhaltung und oder Bio bei Milchprodukten und Eiern) an. Endlich können wir kompromisslos essen gehen! Und Hunde sind ebenfalls herzlich willkommen. Geschmacklich ist alles immer großartig!

Ein neues Konzept, das bei uns sehr gut angekommen ist. Nicht das übliche Einerlei, Schnitzel Pommes Schweinefilet. Eine gute Idee für Vegetarier und Fleisch Esser. Kann dieses Haus hundert Prozent weiter empfehlen. Weiter so 👍😉🍀
