Gondel Restaurant & Bar im Georgspalast in Hannover

Overall, we were satisfied with our experience at the Gondola yesterday. The courses were varied and well prepared. The service was friendly, and the wait time was normal. The vegan paella with nori seaweed and smoky-seared bok choy was particularly different. Various sauces in many dishes add extra oomph. Unfortunately, due to the pricing, I have to deduct one star overall from the vegetarian and vegan perspective, and in the individual rating for service, because it falls even shorter in other areas; see below.

Ambiance - very chic Starter - was ok Main course - really really bad Dessert - was very good Service - very attentive and tried hard Prices - completely excessive and unacceptable in relation to the performance Yesterday we also visited the Gondel restaurant in connection with a visit to the GOP Theater, although the review only refers to the restaurant. The atmosphere is open, very modern and chic, and the food was very attractively presented. If you want to take a few stylish photos of yourself and your food for Instagram so that you can claim that you had a really “upscale” meal, then you are in good hands here. In my opinion, the only thing that is expensive is the price, which is supposed to make it seem exclusive. Well let's get to the dishes, the starter was a soup, it was good but nothing more, the dessert was actually very good and also gave an idea of ​​an attempt to create an upscale 3-course menu. Main course, really poor craftsmanship and I'm not talking about a lukewarm piece of meat. For me and my partner, the sauce was reduced far too much, tasted totally salty, almost like Maggi, you could only eat it because the remaining components of ours - mashed potatoes and rösti - really didn't taste like anything. The roasted cauliflower was pale and almost raw, and the “braised cucumber” only ended up in the pan for a few seconds. A fried egg that was completely solid on the inside isn't a highlight either. This is exactly where I would have expected in a sophisticated kitchen that the egg yolk would still be liquid on the inside. Both main courses were so poorly crafted as a whole that I doubt it was just an exception. That's why we didn't complain about anything that should have changed, and we were also under time pressure due to the upcoming visit to the theater. Let's keep in mind that the Gondel restaurant was unable to meet the demands we had due to the prices and its own appearance. We wouldn't go to the restaurant again at the moment and really can't understand some of the reviews, at least regarding the food.

The menu for the show is always a clear recommendation, with 3 different dishes to choose from, plus fish or meat in a nice atmosphere with attentive staff. A great addition for before or after the show at the GOP

For me one of the best restaurants in Hanover. It's a good idea to visit here before the show. We were greeted and served very friendly. Nothing was missing. The food was excellent. The waiter who was often criticized here was super personable, so I can't understand or confirm the criticism. We'd love to come back!❤️

Overpriced food. Risotto didn't taste like anything... sticky rice. Gorgonzola should also be there, small blob of sauce quite bland… The Wienerschnitzel was full of tendons and the fries were soft and full of oil… very disappointing. The best thing was the service: incredibly nice! But definitely never again.

Vorspeise: Ziegenkäse - hier fehlte leider der Schinken! Hauptgang: Entenbrust ( trocken, die Haut hellbraun und weich) - roher Apfel mit Marzipanfüllung, 1 Kloss mit wenig Sosse, Rotkohl war OK. Das Dessert war leider auch eine Enttäuschung! Wer sowas liebt, ist hier richtig!!

Wir haben im GOP ein Abend verbracht mit Abendessen und Programm mit Varieté. Wir haben ein Deluxe-Gutschein geschenkt bekommen und haben ihn zum Hochzeitstag im GOP Hannover eingelöst. Vorab gab es ein 3-Gänge-Menü. Die Vorspeise, welche wir gewählt haben, fanden wir sehr interessant. Den zweiten Gang - Wiener Schnitzel "chen" mit Pommes, gingen gar nicht. Pommes waren sehr schnell kalt und das Wiener Schnitzel, zwei kleine Teile, waren sehr trocken. Der dritte Gang - Creme Brûlée war ein Gedicht. Danke dafür. Der Kellner war der Brüller. Nicht desto trotz, war der Abend ein gelungener Abend. Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Mal.

The two of us were in the gondola at 7 p.m. before the show at 9 p.m. at the GOP. What we immediately noticed when we entered the restaurant in the basement was that the air conditioning was blowing like pike soup and it felt cold in the restaurant compared to upstairs. We were offered a high table to eat right next to the bar, which we were kind enough to exchange. But it took two questions from the service staff higher up in the hierarchy. This was the restaurant manager who wanted to put down his employee because he had so much to do with drinks. Mind you, in front of us as guests! Our service employee was very polite and attentive, explained everything calmly and first took the drinks and then a little later all three courses of food. The starters came quite quickly and tasted very good. We then had to wait 45 minutes for the main courses. That wouldn't be a big deal, after all it was really well filled. When the main courses came there was an immediate apology for the long wait. Unfortunately, my fish dish was only lukewarm, and my wife's venison leg fillet was even cold. The meat was completely cold, not even lukewarm. Since the food came quite late and we had to go to the show at some point, we accepted it, but also complained. All I got was a gentle “I’m sorry”! That was it. An offer was made to serve it again, but that was no longer possible due to time constraints. No offer of drinks or anything similar as compensation. Dessert was good again, the espresso was kept warm by the preheated cup. In addition, the staff was very hectic because obviously not everything was going smoothly that evening - our neighboring table of 12 people got their main courses spread out over 30 minutes. Overall we were disappointed. Too bad!

We were in the gondola on a wine trip to Austria and had a wonderful evening! The food was excellent and the wines were finely matched to the menu! The service was attentive and friendly, the sommelier's anecdotes about the wine were informative and amusing! Thank you very much for that - we'll be happy to come back!

Dit Restaurant is een regelrechte grap. Ik belde voor een reservering en er werd gevraagd om 18 euro per persoon vooruit te betalen. Bij aankomst was de zaak praktisch leeg en zaten we onder flikkerend ledlicht met een ongezellige ober. We hebben een fles wijn besteld en de ober neemt eerst zelf een slok om te proeven en geeft daarna mijn gast past de mogelijkheid om te proeven. Tijdens het hoofdgerecht vergeet meneer om bij te schenken en hebben we dit zelf maar even gedaan ondanks dat de fles ver van de tafel vandaan was. Na het hoofdgerecht komt meneer met een drankenkar en we maken een grapje of hij met een proeverij aankomt zetten waarna de ober heel awkward hahaha dat is de duizendste keer en niet grappig zegt. de sfeer sloeg gelijk dood. Na dessert staan we op en willen we betalen en tot mijn grote verbazing staat er 26 euro tip op de rekening. Ik vraag of dat de bedoeling is en meneer zegt dat moet van het management. Ik wil altijd graag tip geven maar dan wel als de service naar tevredenheid is. Ik voelde mij hier als gast totaal niet welkom, oncomfortabel en behoorlijk geschoffeerd. Ik zal hier NOOIT meer terugkomen en hoop dat deze grote grap de sterren op Tripadvisor krijgt die het toekomt.

Wir waren nach dem Besuch im GOP hinterher in der Gondel eines Arrangement in der Gondel essen! Wir kommen wieder Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam! Essen sowie Getränke kann man nur empfehlen!

Der Service war hervorragend, das 3-Gänge-Menü war ausgezeichnet ; für uns der Einstieg in einen wundervollen Abend im GOP-Variete'. Ein herzliches Dankeschön von uns!

Toller Service! Essen war lecker! Ein Punkt Abzug, da es sehr kühl war. Das Raumkonzept ist sehr eng. Toiletten sind sauber und gepflegt.

Das Essen war gut, eine männliche Service Kraft leider patzig und wenig kundenfreundlich. Es hatte den Anschein, dass er lustlos und genervt war. Für ein hochpreisiges Lokal ein absolutes no go. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Not recommended before a GOP visit. We had booked a 3-course meal before the GOP show and were quite disappointed. At first everything started well, we were shown to our seat, the waiter came and asked if we wanted to drink some wine, which we declined. We ordered apple sparkling wine, Cola Zero and a spritzer that we copied from the next table. Our order for the dishes was then taken. The starter was okay, but for the main course I got a completely different dish than what I ordered. When I pointed this out to the waiter, I was rudely replied, “And now?” However, after I continued to signal that I would like to receive my ordered main course, he eventually reluctantly gave in and said that they would bring me my ordered dish but it would definitely take a long time. It came at some point, but it should be a given in every restaurant and especially in the class you are aiming for. There wasn't a word of apology from the waiter; rather, you were made to feel bad about the complaint. The dessert tasted rather bland. The big surprise (perhaps revenge) came with the bill. Although we didn't even drink wine and mentioned this right at the beginning, in addition to the already horrendous prices for the small drinks, we had an item on the bill that was "wine recommendation", for which we had to pay a proud €6.50, that no one has shown us before. When we asked how that could be without us even wanting wine or a recommendation, the waiter smugly pointed to the soda, which to me was more of a bad joke because we simply ordered it from the table next to us. We were still allowed to pay. We also noticed the poor service from the waiter at the next table. The main course didn't seem to taste good and wasn't eaten. This was also reported to the waiter and he simply replied dryly, “I can’t do anything about the menu selection.” Here, too, there was no polite apology or anything similar that one would have expected in the service area. Unfortunately, we started the GOP show with a very bad feeling, which was difficult to get rid of and thus tarnished the impression of the show.

Disastrous service! The older waiter (dressed conspicuously with a large earring) managed to do everything wrong that you can do wrong. First, when ordering drinks, people asked in a derogatory manner why one lady didn't want to order Prosecco. When ordering food, the request to have beef instead of pork was literally dismissed and talked down to in condescension. In addition, we couldn't order any more drinks because no one actually checked on us after we got our food. We have already pointed out in advance that we would like to see the show at the GOP immediately afterwards and therefore only have an hour and a half to eat. When we asked that we would like to pay now, nothing happened for a quarter of an hour. After we pointed out again that we had to go now, the payment was reluctantly made. When we then expressed that we would like to pay individually, we were again barked at that we should have stated this in advance. Never experienced such bad service. We would have happily spent significantly more money if we had been served properly. You can ruin your shop that way. This restaurant would be much better off without this waiter. What a shame!

Very nice, exclusive atmosphere. Courteous staff with great service. The food selection for the 3-course menu is really great and the taste and quality are impeccable.

Unfortunately the 3 course menu wasn't that good. My starter, the rice was still hard, the sauce for the main course was too salty and the dessert had way too much goat cheese. Overall, the food was overcooked. The atmosphere is very nice and the service is super nice.

Very pretty location. Very nice staff, competent and polite. Menu portions generous. Food very tasty. 2 small minus points: Greasy fingerprints on the soup bowl don't look appetizing. If something spills on the floor and is wiped up by the service staff: please wash your hands before bringing the filled glasses and plates to the guests....

Ambience is top! The service people were very friendly and often asked if you needed anything else and suggested a lot :) The food was okay, it's just a shame that almost everything involved pumpkin... We specifically took the risotto because there was no pumpkin listed, but there were still pumpkin chips on top.🙈 Not particularly bad, but for people who don't like pumpkin Unfortunately the selection was poor. The portion of the risotto was large (too much for me personally), the food will definitely fill you up.

I'm excited! We were there for the Christmas party. Ambiance is hard to beat. The service was quick, courteous, super well dressed and friendly. Everything was fine. I hope they are paid well for this class of performance. The food was to die for, compliments to the cook/cook/helper. Not only were these beautifully draped on the plate, I have never eaten such good food. The pumpkin cream soup was definitely one of the best I've ever tasted. The duck was tender, tasted great and was delicious with the sweet potato puree. The dessert was particularly good. The portions were optimal. I am very stunned.

Ein sehr schönes Restaurant mit köstlichem Essen und sehr aufmerksamen Service!

Gut eingerichtet, kein Schnitzel mit Pommes dabei. ;-) Ob die "gehobene" Küche auch gehoben ist muss jedem einzelnen überlassen werden, da ich eher auf solch einen Anspruch wenig Wert, als einfacher "Proletaria", liege. Der mit "Orden" behängte "Zeremonienmeister" ist eine durchaus schillernde Figur. Betrachtete aber die Gäste, so mein Eindruck, ganz unterschiedlichen. An manchen Tisch verweilte er länger, mit einem Lächeln und Konversation. An anderem sauste er, sein "Dienst" ausführend, nur so vorbei. Der Chef agierte aus dem Hintergrund und half auch dem Personal mit. Lob an das Bedienungspersonal, immer nett und hilfsbereit. Am Ende soll jeder selbst ausprobieren um sich sein eigenes Urteil zu bilden.

Gestern vorm GOP in der Gondel gegessen. Die Auswahl beim Menü war gut, da war für jeden was dabei. Die Gerichte selber waren leckr, wir hatten alle drei unterschiedliche Hauptgänge und alle waren sehr gut, Fisch, Fleisch und vegan. Die Größe der Portionen passt gut zu einem 3-Gänge-Menü, nur als guter Esser sollte man nicht ausgehungert hingehen, dann könnte es knapp werden. Kleiner Punktabzug: der Vorspeisenzander war für meinen Mann noch zu fest. Und der ansonsten sehr aufmerksame und unaufdringliche Service hat zum Ende hin doch auf sehr offensichtliche Weise so abgeräumt, dass klar war: geht jetzt! Aber wir mussten ja auch nach oben ins GOP. Fazit: in Kombination mit dem GOP eine runde Sache! Aktualisiert am 22.10.23: Auch nach dem Besuch gestern kann ich den positiven Eindruck bestätigen. Mit dem neuen Konzept habe ich mich gestern für eine rein vegetarische Variante der gegrillten Schwarzwurzeln entschieden und kann nur sagen: durch die gut abgestimmten Sättigungsbeilagen wird man auch ohne Fleischkomponente sehr gut satt. Und geschmacklich war es ein Gedicht!

Sehr sehr gutes Essen! Wir haben hier vor einer GOP Show gegessen und auch schon einige Male zuvor. Die Kellner sind super freundlich, die Atmosphäre ist sehr schön und das Restaurant sehr schön dekoriert/ eingerichtet. Es ist auf jeden Fall sehr empfehlenswert!

War ein schöner Abend bei gutem Essen.

Es tut mir fast schon leid, diese Bewertung abzugeben, weil der Service wirklich ausgesprochen freundlich war und hier würde ich glatte 5 Sterne vergeben. Aber das Essen schmeckt dort einfach nicht. Wir waren vor vielen Jahren einmal dort, auch nach dem Varieté und wollten dem Restaurant nochmal eine Chance geben. Aber es hat sich geschmacklich leider nichts verändert. Varieté gern immer wieder, aber Essen gehen dann wo anders.

Das Essen schmeckt ganz gut. Dir Bedienung ist freundlich aber ziemlich langsam. Auch wir wollten eine kleine Geburtstagskerze auf einer der Nachtischen, sie konnten das nicht tun wegen der Feuerregelung aber naechts zu unserem Tisch stand mehr als 20 Öllampen, die schon brennen… Sie haben uns doch eine Geburtstagskarte und CD geschenkt.

Es ist toll !! Ambiente super schön. Mitarbeiter spitze , Essen sehr gut ! Ein Erlebnis, das Gesamte... sehr zu empfehlen.

When I'm in Hannover, I always come to Gondel. The food is excellent, staff is great, and it's a very nice restaurant even if it's in a basement (you won't notice). Zarah Leander was a regular here, so if it's good enough for Zarah...

tolles leckeres Essen, toller freundlicher Service.

Im Rahmen unseres GOP-Besuchs mit 3 Gänge Wunsch Menü speisten wir in der Gondel wie immer genüsslich, aufmerksames Service Personal, leckere Gerichte (die Fotos sprechen für sich 😋😋😋), immer wieder gerne.

Es war ein super toller abend alles hat gestimmt das essen einfach Oberklasse .Und das Programm war spitzen mäßig .Vielen dank an die nette bedienung.😊😊😊

Wir waren anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums der Gondel zu Besuch und waren begeistert. Der Abend wurde begleitet von wunderbar ausgewählten Weinen, Geschichten über das GOP und die Gondel. Die Auswahl und Variation der Gänge war fantastisch. Wer auf freundlichen Emofang steht, ein Weinfreund ist und sich einfach mal in guter Manier auf tolles Essen freuen möchte, ist in der Gondel richtig.

Wir haben die Show Camping gesehen. Diese war sehr witzig und unterhaltsam! Die Tickets haben wir in Kombination mit einem 3 Gänge Menü in der Gondel gebucht. Sehr empfehlenswerte Küche. Insgesamt war es ein rundum gelungener Abend. Das war mit Sicherheit nicht unsere letzte Show. Ein großes Lob auch an das Servicepersonal im GOP!!!

Tolle Atmosphäre und sehr schick eingerichtet. Qualität der Drinks ausgezeichnet. Daher stimmt auch das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Die Strohhalme aus Glas möchte ich auch nicht unerwähnt lassen, großartig! Hier macht man sich gedanken bis ins Detail. Findet man leider selten heutzutage. Immer wieder gern:)

Ich, der eigentlich Currywurst mit Pommes favorisiert, war nur mehr als begeistert. Immer wieder gerne.

Mein Essen war sehr gut das von zwei meinen Bekannten war nicht so gut ( ist wohl Geschmackssache) die Bedienung war sehr nett aber wohl mit uns 12 Personen etwas überfordert
