Avoid the baked potato. The schnitzels are quite good and tasty, if it weren't for the rather long hair in them. The service is unprofessional. After I pointed out the problems, she turned around and disappeared without a word. Another woman came to take my payment.

We went there for dinner. The walls desperately needed a fresh coat of paint. The lamps were covered in a thick layer of dust. The meat on my partner's burger wasn't properly heated. My meal tasted okay, and the burger itself was fine. However, the maggot that crawled across our table while we were eating was the final straw. That was our last visit there.

A very pleasant, traditional restaurant with attentive service and really good cuisine.

We ate there today. The service was excellent, very polite, the food was delicious and served quickly – what more could you want? We will definitely come back.

The food (schnitzel with fried potatoes) came from the deep fryer. Unfortunately, it was very greasy. The seating and tables in the "beer garden" are very worn and, unfortunately, infested with wasps. Apparently, the tables aren't cleaned thoroughly enough. (Hence only 2 points for service and ambiance.)

We had a lovely lunchtime seat outside in the shade, were served quickly, and the food was delicious. We'd gladly go back! The only drawback was the smokers at the adjacent tables, but that's just how it is when you sit at an outdoor table.

The taste of Argentinian steak has noticeably changed, and this isn't due to the preparation. I've been a steak connoisseur for about 30 years, so I think I can judge for myself. Factory farming to meet high demand has been noticeable in the taste for some time now. Absolutely not recommended. The service and ambiance are pleasant and modern. The service is casual, modern, and friendly.

Excellent food. Very friendly and attentive service. We had asparagus pizza and jacket potatoes with vegetables and salad. Absolutely first-class taste. 👍👍👍👍👍

We had a delicious meal on the terrace today! Crispy schnitzel, delicious sauce, crispy fries, and a crisp salad. The young waitress was very friendly and the food was great value for money. We definitely recommend it! We'd love to come back!

Food and drinks of simple quality. Built on tourists

We tried this restaurant for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The ambience was better than expected and the waitress was very attentive and competent . The meat on the grill platter was very good but the portions were moderate. Everything was very hot and was served quickly. The salad was good but could have used a little more dressing. We will definitely come back when we are in Olpe again!

Regardless of the day of the week, you have to wait over 50 minutes for your order to arrive. Prices have been rising for years, but quality hasn't.

Super nice service, delicious food and friendly waitresses!

Went outside and drank a non-alcoholic cocktail. We had to wait 30 minutes for it, even though there wasn't much going on and there were three of the waitresses outside! And then we had to pay the same price as the alcoholic cocktails. I thought that was a rip-off, absolutely unjustified and both didn't taste the same. Very disappointing, the waitress wanted to ask again if the price was right but after 15 minutes we got up and left.

A very nice location right on the market square. We ate there and enjoyed a cocktail in the evening. Fair prices and friendly staff round the whole thing off. Definitely worth a visit :)

Unfortunately an absolute disaster! 1. Lunch until 2 p.m.: we were there at a quarter to 2 and were not allowed to order any more from the lunch menu. So we ordered from the regular menu. 2. Instead of the small drinks we ordered, we each received large glasses. 3. we ordered moussaka twice and salad once. The first moussaka came relatively quickly, but was cold on the inside, so I had it returned to the kitchen to warm up. This then came back warm. While I had already eaten my moussaka, the second moussaka arrived. However, this turned out to be potatoes with an excessive amount of béchamel sauce (see photo). It was inedible and had absolutely nothing to do with a moussaka. The salad we ordered was missing bread (even though it was stated on the menu). 4. we ordered an espresso which was never brought to our table. I have rarely experienced such a bad restaurant visit. We will avoid the restaurant in the future and definitely not recommend it

Top service, great quality food

Unfortunately, unfortunately. Well, almost 3 years ago we were there once a week. Now once a month. And we don't even do that anymore. We give an average of 60-70€ for an evening. I can assure you that there isn't much going on during the week and yet you still get the smallest customer requests not being implemented, such as the extra sauce and please don't slap on the schnitzel or croquettes instead of fries. In the meantime, even croquettes have been removed from the menu. Maybe it's too difficult to implement, just remove the fries and put in the croquettes.

There is no need to respond to reservation requests! Despite multiple requests, no response for weeks! So this is how you deal with potential guests!?

Everything is great! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the price-performance ratio was also good. When we're back in Olpe, we'll definitely be happy to come back!

Schnitzels are okay. Unfortunately, it's fried quite well...side salad is delicious and there's Starnberger Hell on tap. Then it fits 😬👍🏻

The Golden Lion was really good but today it has reached its lowest point I had booked a table for Christmas dinner but I couldn't get in. It was already overcrowded outside and I had to squeeze in and that was fantastic with crutches too 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ then I got a table then I thought to myself I can't see properly the floor felt really dirty ten bottles of beer were smashed on the floor from what he saw everything was sticking and smelled of beer so there's no Christmas spirit 👎🏻👎🏻 The menu doesn't look any different, again the ground is really dirty, oh how fun it is to pick up a dirty menu Now let's get to the food, brief information: I had to pay at the bar, which I don't take as a point of criticism. I can fully understand that, but what I can't understand are broken plates with lots of flaws and a lukewarm calzone. No, it wasn't hot, it was lukewarm, nice and greasy them too and according to my Infineon the dough wasn't really sandy and sticky at times Now to the price, I paid a total of €16 for a cola and a calzone that was only lukewarm, too greasy and after I didn't eat it properly, both of them paid a total of €16 In my opinion, if you're looking for a restaurant with your family for Christmas dinner, the Golden Lion is unfortunately not a good place to go, it's the opposite anyway because I was there today Wonder, I just wanted to eat quietly and just enjoy Boxing Day, what did I get, the purest disco party, music that was way too loud, I didn't understand a word, the floor was filthy, the menus were filthy I know the restaurants want to do good business, but not so much that yesterday they felt totally uncomfortable and had the feeling that they had to get out quickly if they could even get out of the crowded place, which is why unfortunately only these two stars if the Golden Lion changes that next year I will of course adjust the rating, but if that doesn't change, this rating will remain as it is

Unfortunately, the food was completely disappointing (frozen goods), broken plates, unclean glasses, overall dingy. The service was friendly, but did not respond to our complaint. No recommendation!

Service and ambience were really top. Can't complain. But unfortunately the food was a disappointment. The fries were only lukewarm, almost cold and the burger didn't taste good at all. Were there for lunch on Monday, there is a tribal meal every day at lunchtime for €9.90, the menu is very extensive, we ate a crust and a pepper schnitzel, both with salad!! Which isn't available everywhere anymore today, price performance true, the employee was quick and friendly,

The ambience is very nice, you wouldn't think so from the outside. The service was quite good, it could just be a bit friendlier. And the food looks good, it's not particularly cheap and that's why it's a shame that the schnitzel isn't fried in a pan but fried.

We were able to celebrate our wedding at the Löwen on October 12th. We would like to thank the team again for the great service and that everything went very smoothly. Our ideas were implemented brilliantly down to the last detail, and we would also like to thank Mr. Wisseling for that. I didn't like it. I had an onion schnitzel, the schnitzel looked like it had been heated in the deep fryer. The meat was very gristly. It's a shame but we won't be coming back.

The food was good, some convenience products, but of good quality. Schnitzel. The salad was very fresh and really crunchy. Cheese spaetzle is great served in a cast iron pan. The portion is really filling.

Update 08-2024: This time the food disappointed us very much: the meat was far dry, the sauce had no taste, the cheese spaetzle only tasted of wine and salt... Very modern restaurant with very good food. Gladly again.

We had dinner here on a Saturday evening. The service was very nice and attentive, the food was delicious and beautifully prepared. We'd love to come back!

Food quality has deteriorated significantly. We've tried it several times but unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be. And the time it takes to get drinks and food is underground, an hour from the time you enter until the food arrives is nothing.

Meh....not very bad or anything, but I expected something more. Quite catchy and hip, with a hip-looking card. But it wasn't all that big of a deal. Music was also a bit loud. Friendly owner, that's not the case. Great guy.

We stopped by the restaurant last week for the city festival. Despite the full beer garden, our order was taken very quickly. But that was all What we were served was more than miserable. The potatoes were unsalted and from a vacuum bag, the hollandaise sauce came from a tetrapak All the ingredients were definitely not freshly prepared, they were just warmed up in the microwave. My partner's food was just as bad. Price-performance ratio is just terrible. Not recommended locally.

Because of my celiac disease, I asked for the allergy card, which I received immediately. The individual products were also declared with the ingredients. So I ordered a turkey salad and sweet potato fries, both of which were labeled gluten-free. After a short while I received the turkey salad with bread lying on top of the salad. Unfortunately the staff didn't know about gluten. Afterwards I had a very strange feeling. I received a new salad straight away. I don't know whether this has been completely rebuilt. It's a shame because the outdoor dining area is very comfortable. Maybe you could train the staff better. I was there on Sunday, August 11th. there at 4:15 p.m.

When I finished my green iced peach and mint tea, it felt like I had lost a good friend.

We were here on holiday and came across the Golden Lion quite by chance. This is our third time eating here today. The golden lion is very tastefully furnished, which we really like. The menu is very clear and not as cluttered as others, which is very pleasant. The dishes we ordered were all very good and of top quality. Price/performance is also right. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Very pleasant. We can only recommend the Golden Lion. A really great location. If we are in Olpe again, we will be happy to eat here again.

It was fine. The grilled vegetables with the triplets were good, but the burger wasn't so good.

The Golden Lion is beautifully renovated, but has lost the old charm from 1986.

The ambience is really nice, unfortunately the conditions made us wait a long time, which I don't understand given that there aren't many customers. Then we opened the menu and realized: We don't eat anything here. The selection is poor and the prices are utopian.

Ordered a grill plate for €28.90, not enough meat and not as it should be, fries not good either, salad OK. The asparagus dish was totally wrong, it had a sour taste and the sauce wasn't charged for, but still doesn't belong on the plate, ambience only 2, because a master asked his dog to get behind my partner's chair, prices were overpriced not recommendable. '

Update: May 2024. 5 stars Went there again and had a delicious meal here. Something really happened there and the two ladies serving us were really great. What was eaten was: Mushroom cream schnitzel and potato and vegetable pan gratinated. Update: September 11, 2021. Only 2 stars left. We really liked it there recently. I have no idea what happened last night! But the service wasn't okay and the food, even though we had the same thing before, didn't taste good 👎 What a shame! 1st rating, 4 stars New operator, we were there. The food including starter and dessert was delicious. But the main course could have been larger. The service was friendly and nice. Even though it was very busy, we didn't wait long for our food. We'll definitely go there again! Right on the market square in Olpe, with nice outdoor dining.

A really great restaurant and super delicious food. We were passing through and had a spontaneous meal there - we will definitely come back. The service was also very, very friendly and attentive. The “Golden Lion” is definitely recommended.

My friend and I gave the store another chance when it came to the food. We once had pasta with shrimp and a bowl. The bowl was like that, the sweet potatoes in it weren't really cooked through and soggy, the noodles were only lukewarm, there were no spices and it just didn't taste like anything at all. We left almost more than half of it standing and we weren't even asked if everything tasted good or anything else, apparently no one was interested. It was also extremely overpriced, as we will find. You can go to the Löwen to drink, but you definitely can't go to eat anymore, that was the last time we ate there.

The service employee was top-notch, very attentive and friendly. I find the regular food to be overpriced - the quality was OK. At the dinner of the day, everything was right in terms of taste and price. The room temperature was borderline (too cold) - some guests were sitting at the table in jackets.

Bifteki ordered - once half raw, after a complaint a quarter raw - and also risotto as warmed mush - no thanks! The pepper schnitzel with sauce from the bag and french fries, which did not match the taste of the dish in terms of spices. No comparison to the fish dish we ordered earlier, which prompted us to visit the restaurant a second time. We will NOT be coming back.

The schnitzel was frozen food and tasted slightly chewy, the burger was only half cooked and the bread was dry. Everything is nicely prepared with lettuce that has been there for days and handed out to the customer.

Eating nothing special, crusts: schnitzel overcooked (deep fryer?), fries soft and salad sparingly. Staff overwhelmed and not informed about the prices for drinks. Three different service staff = 3 different prices for the same beer.

Sehr gepflegtes, gemütliches Ambiente, Der Sevice war perfekt und das Essen war auch lecker.

Hier kann man gut essen gehen, Preis-Leistung passt gut.

Sehr tollen Abend mit Freunden im Goldenen Löwen verbracht und beschlossen das wir 1x im Monat dort Essen werden. Einfach alles 5sterne dort vom Personal angefangen über die Ambiente und hin zum Essen einfach Top.

Leider hat uns das Essen nicht geschmeckt. Wir hatten einen Chickenburger, das Fleisch war leider TK und hat nicht geschmeckt. Der Burger war sehr trocken, da kaum Soße drauf war. Er schmeckte leider gar nicht und war für den Preis sehr klein und lieblos angerichtet. Die Pommes waren OK, aber auch nichts Außergewöhnliches. Das Starnberger schmeckte anfangs nach Glühwein, anscheinend war das Glas wohl nicht richtig gespült worden. Wir haben ein Neues bekommen, berechnet wurden aber beide. Der Sambuca war leider auf Zimmertemperatur und schmeckte dann auch nicht. Die Cocktails waren OK, der Long Island Icetea schmeckte leider fast nur nach Tequila. Laut der Werbung auf Instagram war der Cocktail "Zombie" für 5€ im Angebot, aber das galt nur im Gewölbekeller... Die Bedingung war sehr nett und immer da, wenn wir etwas braucht.

Wir haben zu fünf Personen an einem Samstagabend dort gegessen und jeweils eine Vor- als auch Hauptspeise bestellt. Das Speisenangebot ist vielseitig. Leider kam eine Vorspeise verspätet zum Tisch und die Hauptspeisen wurden schon serviert, obwohl wir noch am Verzehr der Vorspeisen waren. An dem Nudelgericht fehlte etwas Würze und der Flammkuchen war nach unserer Meinung, auch für den Preis, etwas spärlich belegt. Burger und Schnitzel haben geschmeckt. Die Geräuschkulisse im Raum war leider sehr laut. Es waren aber auch alle Tische besetzt.

Wir waren spontan Dortmund es passte alles gut zusammen. Konnten bei bestem Wetter draußen sitzen. Quetschkartoffeln mit Salat, sowie ein Krüstchen gegessen. Freundliches Personal, schneller Service. Toiletten sauber und auch das ganze Restaurant top. Wir würden gerne wieder kommen

Gutbürgerliche Küche. Die Stammessen sind günstig und zumeist sehr lecker. Leider hatte ich des öfteren verwelkten Salat der auch noch schlecht gewaschen war.(sandig) und Recht kleine Portionen. Der Service ist freundlich. Allerdings wartet man manchmal für die Mittagspause zu lange.

Leckeres und reichhaltiges Essen, nette Bedienung und nettes Ambiente. Leider gibt es gar keine Kinderkarte oder Kinderportionen.

Nachdem ich letztes Jahr von der Küche sehr enttäuscht war, wurde ich heute sehr positiv überrascht. Meine Stampfkartoffel war super lecker und es war so viel, dass ich es kaum aufbekommen habe. Es gab leider nur 2 Bedienungen, deshalb mussten wir etwas länger warten, aber alle waren super nett. Wir fanden die Tische sehr klebrig, denke das lag an dem Wetter/starker Regen/Hitze. Kann wahrscheinlich keiner etwas für, kann aber schon abschrecken. Sonst ist das Ambiente am Marktplatz aber wunderschön!

Wir haben 1 Stunde auf 2 Pizzen und ein Schnitzel gewartet, obwohl das Lokal bei weitem nicht voll war. Pizza war ziemlich klein und nicht ganz durchgebacken, das Schnitzel war halb verbrannt. Leider nicht ansatzweise so gut, wie erwartet.

War zum zweiten Mal hier. Sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Mitarbeiter. Das Essen war lecker und genug. Das Ambiente finde ich persönlich sehr ansprechend. Die Musik ist alles Geschmacksache. Aber man kann sich ja unterhalten;) Ich komme bestimmt wieder.

Schönes Restaurant. Preis Leistung passt. Schönes Ambiente guter Service. Plätze auf dem Marktplatz rundet die Sache ab. Zu 5 Sternen fehlt ein echtes Highlight. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Außer der netten Bedienung und der guten Lage direkt am Marktplatz kann ich leider nichts Positives über den Laden berichten. Das Essen kam bereits 10 Minuten nach dem Bestellen, was uns für drei Hauptgerichte ziemlich kurz erschien. Es war leider sehr schlecht, das Fleisch hat alt geschmeckt und auf den Burgern fehlte eine Sauce. Außerdem war es auch sehr teuer. Schade, dieser Laden wird uns nicht mehr sehen!
