I've been to Extrablatt Olpe many times, but unfortunately, the quality is steadily declining. For example, I was there with my daughter on November 7th, 2025. She had a Kids Cup and I had a Caramel Sundae. Her ice cream was missing the strawberry sauce, and mine was missing the chocolate glaze and the pretzel sticks. These items are explicitly listed, and such a simple Caramel Sundae costs a whopping €8.45. I expect to get what I pay for. The waitress didn't ask us if everything was alright, as she usually does. I didn't want to make a scene in front of my daughter. Looking back, though, I'm pretty annoyed that I paid full price for such rubbish. Unfortunately, this kind of thing is happening more and more often. It used to be different.

The Extrablatt branch with that certain something extra! Located directly on the Bigge River, not far from the center of Olpe, with ample parking. Top! Absolutely recommended location!!!

Unfortunately, some of the staff were incredibly rude, so no tip. I feel sorry for the other employees in the same restaurant who are surely more friendly.

We went there with the family for breakfast. There was a very nice, extensive buffet. Unfortunately, only one orange juice was included; the rest cost extra. The service there was super friendly and beyond reproach. Parking is free for guests. It's not exactly cheap, but we'd be happy to come back.

I was at Extrabad in Olpe today and am truly appalled by how they treat customers. We ordered and paid for two baked potatoes with chicken to go. When we asked for cutlery, they simply said they didn't provide any – neither free nor paid. I explained that we were on the go and couldn't eat the food as it was, as a baked potato isn't finger food. But instead of being accommodating, they just responded dismissively. They even called the manager, but he, too, was extremely rude and unfocused on finding a solution. All the employees seemed annoyed and disrespectful – one even mockingly said he would eat the food himself when I said I'd leave it there. Honestly, this kind of behavior is simply unprofessional and unfriendly to customers. I'm very disappointed and will never order from there again. Absolutely not a recommendation!

Nice buffet, but extremely cramped and not very relaxing Our breakfast visit on a Friday at 10 a.m. had both positive and negative aspects. Positive: The buffet is very nice and varied (something for everyone), and the staff made every effort to refill quickly. The long lines at the buffet fortunately eased after 10:30 a.m. Negative: The cramped seating was the biggest problem. We had a tiny table with barely a meter of space between our neighbors – some budget airlines offer more space and privacy. Despite explicitly booking with a dog, there was practically no space for the dog. The severe lack of space prevented any kind of relaxed atmosphere, especially since the looks from our table neighbors immediately made their displeasure with the dog clear. This forced us to put the dog in the car. The dog-friendly option seems to be rarely implemented in reality here. Other shortcomings: Service: As is often criticized, the staff is understaffed. There was little clearing, and placing new orders (a source of income!!) was a struggle. Buffet details: Labels were often missing, and the fruit was unfortunately not ripe. A sauce for the pancakes would have been appreciated. The Mettwurst sausages couldn't be opened with the provided knives; my companion had to use her teeth out of desperation! Constructive suggestions: Easing the service burden: A QR code at the table for reordering and paying could significantly streamline the process. Drinks: A carafe of mineral water at the buffet would be a simple but valuable gesture. Dog-friendly tables: When booking with a dog, significantly more space should be allowed and a more suitable area should be chosen. Note: The parking ticket must be validated at the counter. Conclusion: The food is good, but the extremely cramped space and the sparse service seriously spoil the experience. The atmosphere and organization urgently need to be improved.

Recently, I went to Café Extrablatt on the BiggeSeeFront in Olpe with my daughter and a friend. We had actually planned to eat outside, right by the water – the location is truly stunning. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy and chilly, so we sat inside. Fortunately, the interior is also very cozy and modern, so we immediately felt at home. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick, even when it was quite busy. That's what always contributes to a relaxed evening for me. I thought the menu was very well done – modern and varied. However, I have to honestly say that it's a bit confusing. It takes a bit of time to navigate through everything. But the selection is large, and there's really something for everyone – even children. Our food was freshly prepared, delicious, and generously portioned. My daughter also found something to suit her taste and was satisfied. We also particularly enjoyed the drinks – whether cocktails or non-alcoholic versions, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Despite the rainy weather, it was a very nice evening. We enjoyed good food, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service. Next time, we hope for sunshine so we can enjoy the terrace with its view of Lake Bigge.

I know Cafe Extrablatt from Bruchsal and Heidelberg and I love going there. The one in Olpe is just as good. It's more modern, and the view is fantastic. Friendly service, the usual good food with a varied menu, makes it a worthwhile visit! We've already been there twice during our short vacation, and if we're in the area again, it's clear: Cafe Extrablatt = top class!

I went there yesterday with my best friend for breakfast and then dinner. The ambiance is very nice; the restaurant is beautifully situated by the river. The service was very friendly and accommodating both in the morning and in the evening. The breakfast buffet was always fresh and regularly refilled. There is something for everyone. They are currently celebrating Bavarian Week at breakfast. When we came back for dinner in the evening, we were immediately greeted at our table by their waitress, Joy. Joy served us the entire evening and looked after our well-being. She was always charming and accommodating. We had a Wiener Schnitzel and a Krüstchen (small sausage). There, too, we were kindly asked whether we wanted pork or chicken. The food itself was very tasty and fresh. The tea and other drinks, such as cocktails, were always fresh and delicious. The cheesecake for dessert and the cappuccino were also very tasty and fresh.

So, I spent an hour and 45 minutes there just to drink an iced coffee, and at most 25 of that was actually drinking. Otherwise, I waited a long time before I was even allowed to place my order, waited even longer for the iced coffee to arrive, and then when I wanted to pay, I waited another 30 minutes. And it wasn't busy.

Great location, right on the Bigge River, slightly above the water's edge, with a direct view of the lake (see photo) from the lovely outdoor terrace without any intrusive railings. We were there in the afternoon for a few cool drinks and in the morning for breakfast. The service was super friendly, smart, and quick-witted, and immediately put us in a good mood, and everything came very quickly. A great place for a pleasant stay, especially in nice weather...but also attractively designed, with plenty of seating.

I think the ambiance is really nice and I've been there twice so far. The first time, we had a table quite far out and it took a bit longer for a server to arrive, but it was completely acceptable considering what was going on that day. Otherwise, everything was really good and the prices are reasonable, too. We were there today as well. We ordered an iced tea (€6.50) and thought we'd get a large glass. The glass, which was unfortunately a regular drinking glass, was empty after three sips. Charging €6.50 for that is, in my opinion, cheeky. It would be nice to perhaps adjust the price to reflect the glass. Otherwise, we'd be happy to come back.

The surroundings are very pleasant, located by the water. A busy road is within earshot. The service is incredibly relaxed and very friendly. The quality of the schnitzel is rather average. The cake and coffee are very tasty. Drive through the barrier. The ticket is released in a separate section. We'd be happy to go again.

We simply paid €50 for breakfast. It wasn't anything special, just a good, solid breakfast, but not worth the price. The view of the lake is beautiful, but I don't think I'd ever want to be there when it's busy. I don't think we'll come back for breakfast. The price/performance ratio is just not right anymore. 😔

A very nice place. Great service, incredibly friendly and quick. We had cake, which was truly delicious. Grandma easily navigated the place, even with her walker. It was an all-around lovely afternoon. It was our first time there, but certainly not our last.

Cozy Extrablatt in a great location. We were here on a Friday morning for the breakfast buffet. My 7-year-old son and I. We had made a reservation in advance, which I highly recommend considering the café's busy schedule. The buffet selection was good, and everything was beautifully presented. The pastries were truly delicious. I find it a bit of a shame that at least regular coffee and water aren't included in the price, but instead you get a free bottle of orange juice per person. During our entire stay of more than an hour, we weren't even asked for new drinks by the waiter. I'm also confused by the parking situation. Apparently, the café only has paid parking. If I'm simply too stupid to find the available spaces, I'll mention that in the review.

The location is perfect and beautiful. Right on the water, simply a dream. Deducting one star because it's quite expensive. Otherwise, everything was great 👌🏼

We were there on the weekend. Great atmosphere, typical Extrablatt food, nothing earth-shattering, but delicious! Unfortunately, one waiter was very unpleasant. Cheeky, rude, and impertinent! (The one with the bleached hair) We were a bit shocked. The other waiters were really nice.

A while ago, during the summer holidays, we went to Extrablatt Olpe for breakfast (buffet) for the second time. The atmosphere at Lake Bigge is simply fantastic. Due to the holidays, the restaurant was very crowded and noisy on our last visit. Unfortunately, the staff apparently weren't yet prepared for the holidays, and after 9:30 a.m., there were always large gaps in the buffet, and in some cases, there weren't even any cutlery left. It can happen that you can't quite keep up with your work, but we found it very strange that after 10:30 a.m., the fruit was only occasionally replenished with a few pieces of watermelon (and nothing else). This was very odd, considering the buffet is open until 12:00 p.m. The first visit (during the week and outside of the holidays) was great!

I give it 5/5 stars :) I'm very happy with Café Extrablatt Olpe - the buffet is delicious, especially the bacon and juice, it's beautifully decorated and presented, and the service is friendly. The seating is comfortable and has a vintage look, which I think is very well done. All in all - a top-notch café.

I can. However, there were a few things that weren't so great. The restroom was dirty; there were toilet paper and bags for sanitary pads, etc., lying on the floor. The paper towel bin was overflowing. The waitress was a bit too attentive for us. She seemed to come over every two minutes to ask if everything was okay. It was okay in itself, but if you want to have a conversation and the waitress keeps coming over, that's not ideal. Especially since there were a lot of staff on the terrace, so we could have made ourselves known if we needed anything else.

Exceptionally great waiter on the outdoor terrace

Breakfast has been significantly reduced. No salmon, no freshly squeezed orange juice. The service wasn't the fastest either. You had to call for attention, and then it took a while for someone to come. It used to be better, which is a shame.

I looove to have breakfest here!! They have huge buffee with many things to choose from... Different type of breads, salamis, cheese, fresh cheeses, eggs on three ways, bacon, marmelade, cereals with yogurt , toppings, vegetables (salad bar) , muffing egs , then we have sweets like muffins, vanilla or chocolate mouse, sweets, mini pancakes and fruits🥰 in price you also get one orange juice... They use to have refills and i find it very sad that now they offer only one small bottle of orange juice. But i will still come back to this place cause its worth the money! Its like 13€ for this beautiful breakfest..we Always leave fully fed. And the view is also amazing , next to lake. Definitly worthed! ☺️🤗

Beautiful location, extensive, delicious breakfast buffet, friendly staff. We were there with friends at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning (booked about a week and a half in advance). Unfortunately, it felt like 200 other guests had the same idea, so there were very long lines at the buffet, and some of the dishes sold out very quickly. The very attentive staff unfortunately couldn't quite keep up with refilling items and taking orders, which meant it wasn't quite as relaxed for us as we would have liked. We'll definitely be back, though, probably on a different day of the week 😉

All in all, very, very bad. The waitress didn't even greet us. The food was a disaster!! My pizza rolls were simply raw, meaning the dough wasn't baked. No one came to ask if everything was okay. Truly, all in all, a disaster.

The view of Lake Bigge is simply next level – perfect for relaxing and enjoying yourself, especially when the weather is nice. The apple strudel? A dream! Nice and warm, crispy, and super delicious – paired with a coffee, it's truly the perfect pairing. Another really positive thing: The waitresses were incredibly friendly, super attentive, and just in a good mood. You immediately feel welcome and completely at ease. In short: great atmosphere, delicious food, amazing view – I'll definitely be back!

The waitress prefers to fold napkins and doesn't notice that guests have arrived. You have to wave or go to the counter to announce your order. The staff just stands around bored.

Nice café by the water or on the promenade. Service was a bit overwhelmed, okay, it was also full. The timing was probably also bad; the breakfast buffet was being cleaned up. Still a bit disorganized, nothing at first for 15 minutes, then within 3 minutes 3 waitresses asked what we would like to order.

Unfortunately, the behavior of the service is an absolute disgrace. You wait almost 1 hour for a portion of fries. You're also told that you can't do magic, which is a real shame, I thought you could do magic too. It would be nice to get more respect or you have to learn to behave better.

It's nice that I'm sitting here with the family to take part in the breakfast buffet. We've been sitting here for about 45 minutes and no waiter has had the idea to ask for a drink. At this exact moment I let the children drink a drink from my wife's handbag because the children are thirsty! Even that didn't seem to interest the waitress because they were just looking. The waiting time at the buffet and plate distribution is quite long, which is unfortunately due to the layout. In comparison to the selection of the nearest extra sheet in Siegen is very low. Siegen offers much more in terms of food and service!!! A waitress managed to come to the table and asked for drinks. Incredible performance that took about 55 minutes to achieve. Do yourself a favor by traveling to Siegen, even if the location isn't that nice.
