Update: Unfortunately I have to downgrade my review from 5 to 3 stars. The store isn't what it used to be. The kebab has of course become more expensive, but it is everywhere and I have no problems paying good money for a good kebab. Unfortunately, the quality of the veal has also deteriorated massively and simply doesn't taste as good anymore. A new employee was also hired who delivers a really stingy doner kebab. If you're lucky enough to have the kebab made by the owner, the toppings are a bit more generous, but even then the size has decreased. In summary, a really good kebab turned into an expensive and at the same time smaller kebab with veal of poor quality and taste. It's a shame actually. Unchanged old review: During my years in Mannheim I tried a lot of kebabs in the city and so far this one is my absolute favorite. Doner tastes good and is fairly priced even in current times. The owner and his mother chat to you while you wait for the kebab and are really friendly and personable people

I'm usually not a fan of doner kebab, but this place pleasantly surprised me. The crispy sesame bread combined with a perfectly balanced spicy sauce and a decent amount of meat made for a delicious meal. The service was super friendly, and they even offer discounts for students, which is a great perk. The shop was full during lunch time, indicating its popularity. While the seating isn't the most comfortable, it’s a good choice for a quick bite overall.

Old manager, I've actually already given up kebabs. But it tastes good. Service very patient and friendly. Nothing fake, just really friendly. Very clean and accommodating. Absolutely recommended. I would even drive through the city once. Photo will follow on the next visit.

Very, very tasty kebab! I tried the veal doner first and it was very good. The sauces are super good and the counter looked clean and well maintained. I then ate the chicken kebab and have to recommend the chicken kebab. The meat was nice and crispy and juicy. The bread is crunchy but a little bit dry. But there is a lot of sesame on it. I was really convinced and will visit the kebab shop more often in the future.

Not recommended because they don't stick to the opening times and you won't even be turned down with an apology. Loading is probably just going too well.

My son and I came here for our first meal off the plane from New York City. The owner was warm, pleasant and very helpful for two people that speak very limited German. The chicken Döner are just perfect. I've had many in the past at Selman and City Döner and I like this one best. Very good.

Expensive - fine but at least make the portion bigger! And upselling a teaspoon of cheese for an extra euro is borderline rip-off.

The ingredients are very inferior. Store-bought tortilla (and not a yufka as it says on the menu) with cheap minced meat and some bland salad. That's it. I've had much better kebabs in MA. The portion was small and not worth the 8.50 euros. Absolutely not recommended.

We were spontaneously in Mannheim today and were looking for a kebab shop. We asked Google and based on the positive reviews, we decided on this one. We also looked at the few negative reviews beforehand and cannot confirm them at all. We had 4 different dishes and all of them were very good and plentiful! Of course the best were the kebab and the yufka. The staff was very nice and gave us very good advice! We'd love to come back.

We were the first guests. Given the steep price, we were very disappointed with the tiny portion. Hardly any meat and hardly any salad either. When we mentioned it when paying, they only asked for an extra fee for a spoonful of sauce. Never again!

Not worth €7.50 for a “vegetable kebab”. It was with great pleasure that I went to Gidi's Döner Kebap and was very disappointed. First of all, there was no more veal, which I could somehow understand. But when I ordered the chicken kebab as an alternative, I first thought that there was far too little meat in it. And the photo says it all. More than half just green salad. It wasn't a chicken kebab but more of a veggie kebab. Far too little meat. This really doesn't have to be the case if you don't want to alienate customers. This doner kebab cannot be recommended to any customer. You just bite into salad straight away. The flatbread with sesame is also a matter of taste. Too thin for me and not enough bread compared to a typical "doner kebab pocket". The meat also had to be heated first, which reflects the overall quality. The meat was not crispy and lacked a crispy bite. All in all, for me it's not the "best kebab in Mannheim". Therefore only 2.5 stars. I can't recommend this kepap for €7.50. Way too expensive.

The best and most delicious doner kebab I ate during my stay in Germany was Gidis doner. It was probably due to its cleanliness and the friendliness of its owner. I thank them very much for making such good doner kebab and I wish they make delicious doner kebab.

While the taste is ok and the service is friendly but the place is overrated. The beef döner disappoints. It's not fresh meat but a ready made mixed meat(Hackdrehspiess) for the high price tag, you'd expect freshly made bread and house-made meat, which is not the case here. Sure, they amp up the marketing with a fancy menu with some low lighting, but in reality, you're paying the same as other regular döner spots. Those places serve up the food quicker and at two-thirds of the Gidis price.

The two are great, always friendly. It's better to come earlier, as they may be sold out in the evening.

Visited around 19:00 on a Thursday. Service was poor, 2 people who were after me got served there food before me despite ordering the same thing, weird. They kept forgetting what I had actually ordered and had to remind them 3 or so times, maybe they should write it down or print it off and queue them up if it's a challenge. Prices were fair, neither high nor low. They had ran out of veal and Döner bread, so I went for the chicken Lahmacun being the only option left, I don't know if this is a regular thing that happens by 19:00 on a Thursday and if i should go earlier in the day if i want those items. The most redeeming part of the visit was the taste of the served food, I've tried a lot Döner (admittedly i had Lahmacun, but the toppings are the same) places in Mannheim and while a few stand out as very good places, this beats them all hands down. Unctuous texture, fresh flavours. It was a delight to eat. Took me 25 minutes to place my order and get served (partially due to their errors with my order) so not sure I would risk it if you're pressed for time and see it's busy inside.

Wonderful mother-son duo with the best kebab in Mannheim. Delicious, fresh and just all around good. In the evening it can happen that the kebab is already gone, otherwise call us if necessary.

Recommended by my AirBnb host while I was passing through Mannheim, I was able to stop by Gidis and I was lucky enough to have the very last kebab of the service on a Sunday evening in autumn after a long day Steps. The welcome by the cook and the manager (I think) was wonderful, and the kebab was simply the best I have ever eaten. A superb address that I in turn warmly recommend.

I was eating there with a colleague, I ordered a large kebab and he did too. I said I would like more sauce on it and extra meat, everything was charged but I got a relatively poorly stocked and dry kebab, he got a lot of salad but little meat in his kebab. It's a shame many said it was really good but apparently it depends on the customer how they are treated there

Was at Gidis Döner for the first time today 🥙. I have rarely eaten such a delicious veal kebab. The sauces are simply delicious 😋. The meat and the salad too. The bread is first spread with the sauces and then another sauce is added at the end. This means that the entire kebab is very juicy and not too dry. You get very good quality for your money. Unfortunately I live further away from Mannheim, otherwise I would come here more often.

This is by far the best kebab in Mannheim and the surrounding area. The meat is so lean and yet juicy. The bread is really fresh and super tasty. The 3 sauces as a bonus are awesome! And the service was really warm and always friendly. We always enjoy coming here and don't want any other kebab!

Bester Döner in Mannheim!!! Wir habe den beef Döner gegessen mit meiner Frau und unserem Sohn! Wir waren alle 3 positiv überrascht über die frische der Produkte und Geschmack vom Fleisch einfach der Hammer!!! Und die sossen 3 in der Anzahl die zusammen einfach ein aroma in den Gaumen knallen das einfach nicht zu erklären ist ( die sossen macht der Inhaber alle selbst)! Aber jetzt das aller beste in dem Laden ist die Herzlichkeit der Betreiber! Macht weiter so ich bin ab heute Stammgast nie wieder Döner von wo anderst !!!

Einer der besten Döner, nette Besitzer

Lebe schon von Geburt an in Mannheim und habe unzählige Döner dieser Stadt probiert, und das ist mit Abstand einer der besten. Hatte einen Kalbsdöner mit Käse. Das Fleisch war knusprig, hatte Biss und war trotzdem saftig und geschmackvoll. Das Gemüse war frisch und knackig. Die 3 hausgemachten Soßen sind sehr aromatisch und unterstreichen den Geschmack des Fleischs perfekt ohne zu dominant zu sein. Mit 7€ (bzw. 8€ wegen dem Käse) etwas über dem Durchschnitt in Mannheim, wird aber aufgrund der äußerst großzügigen Portionen Fleisch, Käse und Soße wieder wettgemacht. Satt geworden bin ich definitiv. Leider war der Döner schon kalt und das Brot daher nicht mehr knusprig als ich zuhause ankam, da ich mit dem Teil im Rucksack ne Stunde durch die Kälte gelaufen bin, dafür kann der Laden aber natürlich nichts und hat das Geschmackserlebnis nicht zu arg beeinträchtigt. Werde bei Zeiten mal vor Ort frisch essen. Absolut empfehlenswert, aufgrund der eher abgelegenen Lage aber fast schon ein Geheimtipp, wusste bis vor kurzem nicht mal, dass es den Laden gibt. Mitarbeiter waren ebenfalls sehr freundlich und haben andere Gäste gefragt, ob alles gepasst hat, was man immer gerne sieht. Komme sehr gerne wieder.

War mit einem Kollegen dort. Sehr freundliche Leute, war echt toll. Habe es nicht besser erlebt. Der Döner ist der Hammer, richtig gut. Ich gehe jetzt Mal davon aus, dass es der Sohn und die Mutter sind. Richtig tolle Leute. Meine persönliche Bewertung für Gidi's Döner: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ich liebe Gidi's Döner! (Liebe auf dem ersten Biss). Die Sauberkeit und Hygiene sind vorbildlich. Die Besitzer, Mutter und Sohn, sind super freundlich. Das Kalbshackfleischspieß und der Hähnchendöner sind einfach mega saftig und köstlich dazu ! Die Auswahl an Soßen ist ebenfalls hervorragend. Ein rundum gelungenes Dönererlebnis! 🌯👍

Der Service ist erstklassig – freundlich, schnell und äußerst zuvorkommend. Die Auswahl an Saucen ist beeindruckend, und die vegetarischen Optionen sind ebenfalls eine willkommene Bereicherung.
