Incredibly delicious and very friendly!

Simply fantastic, delicious food, very large portions, not the usual Asian menu but a lot of quality. The staff is friendly and even if not everyone speaks German or English they still make themselves understood. The place is very welcoming. Advised!

Eas Restaurant with authentic food. I can really recommend the Genki Bao Burger, the vegetarian Dumplings and Chilli & Garlic Noodles. Especially the Genki Bao Burger is unique and very tasty

This restaurant is quite expensive. The food hasn’t been „good enough“ for the relatively high price. Service wasn’t the best as well. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant.

Food is authentic and tasty. Some background music is missing because the restaurant is quite noisy.

The Bao Burgers are perfect! The food came quickly and the waiters were super friendly. Starters like enoki mushrooms and wakame were also great! I found the dumplings with tofu a bit dry and tasteless, but the ones with chicken and vegetables were even better.

Service war wirklich mau. Einmal gefragt, danach musste man immer auf die KellnerInnen zugehen. Essen war lecker. Hatten Ramen, diese waren soweit ganz gut, aber nicht sehr geschmacksintensiv. Aber vermutlich frisch. Meine Suppe hatte ein bisschen weniger Tofu. Das war schade.

The Bao zi and Jao zi dumplings are very tasty. The noodle soups are okay. The burgers are okay too, very small for the price. Overall prices are relatively high for the small portions.

I had the tagliatelle. They were very soft, rather overcooked and lukewarm. The vegetables were cold. All in all pretty tasteless. The portion was very small and very expensive. The restaurant overall was a bit dirty. The floor was slippery because there was a film of grease on it. I can't understand the hype. But I can recommend Genki Ramen in Essen Rüttenscheid.

The food wasn't as tasty as it used to be and the waitress with short hair and glasses wasn't as welcoming.

You have to try the pasta in garlic oil!

Not recommendable !! Food had no taste at all, just bad. Service wasn't good either, there was more on the bill than was actually ordered.

Current criticism: A lot has happened at Genki - the small street food shop has been converted into a restaurant, the menu has been expanded and there are now a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. For example, a vegan TanTanMen Ramen also available as a version with soy milk, etc. The food is still very tasty and the service is very good. The old, more Chinese dishes are still there. Old review: Not a restaurant, more of a street food shop that is a real insider tip! We've walked past here so many times and never really noticed the store until now! There is some seating inside and outside, unfortunately no toilet and a more or less open kitchen. The dishes were all very tasty, I wouldn't have classified them as Chinese, you get food here that seems much more authentic to me than that of the typical Chinese restaurants. In terms of price, you can hardly go wrong here if you put it in the “fairly cheap” segment. Nice owners round off the picture positively. See you next time ;)

I’ve been here 3 times. Everything was always delicious. although one time I ordered the Xiao Long Bao I thought it was so dry. Not what I was expecting. Still delicious tho. And the last time I was here I ordered the chili oil noodles and maaan, it was 10/10 😍

A unique dining experience. The burgers are really awesome, nice and fluffy and the meat is very well seasoned. We would particularly recommend the Karaage Burger

There were two of us eating and we were seated straight away. The food was very tasty and we didn't have to wait long. I will gladly come again.

Large vegan selection and very tasty, different dishes. If you like Japanese food (aside from sushi), you'll definitely find what you're looking for here. The homemade lemonades and iced teas are also recommended.

Visited for the first time at lunchtime on Saturday a week ago, unfortunately I had to go to the hospital at night because of food poisoning. My kids' other two dishes were fine, I think the duck was it! Unfortunately I cannot make a recommendation

Actually a great shop. I've been there twice and it always tasted good. Unfortunately, on Saturday my mother got food poisoning from the duck and was in the hospital.

The food is super delicious, and treat yourself to the mince on the noodles. Waiting time was OK this time too.

You can't find such tasty and delicious food of this quality for such a price in Bochum or around. One of my favorite places to enjoy a good meal.

Soup dumplings were dry and no soup in them at all. In general the food was not good. Unfortunately, despite being authentic, it was poorly made. The Baos Mt Pork and Shrimp were also very dry. Bao burger with duck was tastier but the meat was tough. Yuzu lemonade only tasted like water. We saved a lot with yuzu and used lemon instead. Overall, unfortunately not a good experience. Genki Bar in Essen is much better in terms of quality. Unfortunately, service in Bochum wasn't that good either. Friendly, but it took a long time to be served. Update: been here again and I have to adjust my rating again. Tan Tan Men were cold. Egg wasn't runny like a Japanese prepared egg should be, portion size was very small and I couldn't get the spiciness level adjusted. Tan Tan Men should have a spiciness and these noodles were almost spicy-sweet, like Maggi seasoning. There was definitely no Maggi in it, but the taste is very close to Maggi...

The burgers were pretty disappointing in terms of taste, but the chili noodles were INCREDIBLY good!! Dessert was also really great! Still quite expensive to get your fill here...

5:30 p.m. arrival, 6:30 p.m. ordered food, 7:45 p.m. received wrong food! Waited an hour to place order. Even speaking to service staff was in vain. Then another 1.5 hours until our food came. Many other guests ordered before us, got their food and left before our food arrived. You could guess why that was. The food was solid. However, we both got the wrong food. My burger was missing any sauce and my partner got duck (?) instead of chicken. We ate it anyway so we didn't have to wait any longer. Many other tables had the same problem. We are now at Bürger King so as not to go home disappointed and give the restaurant another chance one afternoon.

There are many Asian restaurants on Brüderstrasse - Genki Bao may not be noticeable at first, but it is definitely the best! Great ramen, dumplings and baos. Authentic, inexpensive and always fresh! The beef noodle soup is absolutely great - you can't get it anywhere else in Bochum!

So, to all the vegans who complain here: Genki Bao is NOT a recognized vegan restaurant. There is always, and I would like to emphasize this again, ALWAYS, the danger that animal components will creep into the food. Same with the big fast food chains. It should be noted that the whole thing CAN mix. So please don't go to these stores and destroy the image of this great store. Genki Bao delivers very fresh and tasty dishes. There are hand-pulled noodles and a very interesting menu. It is an enrichment for the Bermuda3Eck and must not be dragged through the mud by such reviews. I give it the full 5 stars!

Authentic deliciousness! The food here was very tasty! Please definitely try the homemade tagliatelle! They are definitely hand-pulled; I was totally surprised to find them on the menu and they were original too! TOP

The hand-pulled garlic chili oil noodles are super good. The matcha latte is also super intense.

I have no idea what vegans have 😂 This is the best Asian snack bar in Bochum City. Everyone who comes from outside celebrates the store. The service is nice, the ambience is also nice and the food is delicious and aromatic. Price-performance ratio is also great considering that it is in Bermuda.

NOT FOR VEGANS, VEGETARIANS or HELAL!!! My girlfriend and I ordered vegan ramen. However, we found pieces of meat in it, as you can see in the pictures. We definitely can't recommend it.

BEWARE VEGETARIANS, VEGANS, ALLERGY SUFFERERS AND ANYONE WHO EATS HELAL! Had the vegan/vegetarian TanTanMen ramen, ramen with minced meat was brought to the table. After pointing out that this wasn't our order, it was taken away and as soon as the correct one was ready, it was brought. When we were almost finished eating, small pieces of minced meat came up from below! Absolutely unprofessional and, in my opinion, unacceptable!!!

Very tasty food. The price-performance ratio was right. The restaurant is relatively sterile but still nice. We were there at lunchtime and had a short wait. We'll be back 👌

edit after 2 years: IT WAS good... got a stomach ache after eating (pasta with garlic-chili oil) Service underground It also took 5 minutes to "find" a 5€ note we are not from yesterday!!

The food is super tasty and good value for money. We will be back definitely! However, the shop could be decorated a little more lovingly and comfortably; the walls and tables are completely empty, which unfortunately makes it seem very cold.

Ramen isn't really my thing, but if it's good then it gets 5 stars. The meat here was clearly too dry for me. Service was ok, ambience too.

Very tasty food! The bao with vegetables, pork and shrimp all tasted very good. The burgers with Teryaki Chicken and Chicken Karaage were also delicious. The atmosphere is bright and modern, the service is very friendly. Because it was very busy, the wait for the food was a little longer, but absolutely acceptable.

Absolutely love the place! From the outside it’s a little dark so you could easily miss it but once you’re inside the interior is light and inviting. The hand pulled noodles were delicious. Wanted to try more as the menu and all other dishes coming out of the open plan kitchen looked amazing. Will have to come back to try more. Very quick and friendly service.

It was my first time at Genki Bao & Burger 2. At first we were surprised that the entrance was only two doors down, due to a new opening, but it was easy to find. The entrance area seems a bit sterile, but if you go further upstairs you can see into the kitchen and the counter area. We were quickly assigned to a table and were able to order quickly. The menu is easily accessible via QR code. I ordered vegan dishes with my companion. The homemade ribbon noodles in garlic and chili oil were very tasty. They had a nice, slightly al dente texture and harmonized perfectly with the oil. When it comes to dumplings, we found the Shen Jiang Bao tastier than the Xiao Long Bao, due to the filling and the taste of the dough. The Xiao Long Bao had a stronger mushroom filling and therefore a stronger taste, whereas the Sheng Jian Bao tasted lighter. As drinks we had the iced mango tea and the iced passion fruit tea. These tasted more like juice than iced tea. Unfortunately, payment by credit or debit card is not possible (only checking card). All in all a good restaurant with a good and unusual selection.

In a word *Wow* the food was fantastic, I had the vegetable burger and have never had such a taste explosion in my life. After that came the vegan mushroom frame soup, what can I say, indescribably delicious. The staff is not intrusive at all and you can linger in peace. Absolute recommendation

Well done Genki Bao and Burger , for proving that it is possible to have the genuine taste of simple Chinese classic "fast food" away from the horrors of the dreadful "all you can eat" sham Chinese buffet offerings! The new location is MUCH NICER!!!

I just ordered it to take away, but the waiter gave it to me without closing the box of dipping sauce. Almost all the juice spilled out and got all over my pants. The service needs to be improved. A rather bad takeout experience.

Die handgemachten Bandnudeln sind super. Essen dauert leider zT. sehr lange. Preise sind deutlich gestiegen und das Essen hat leider etwas an Geschmack und Qualität eingebüßt nach dem Umzug.

Es war sehr lecker. Ich komme gerne wieder. Die dumpling sind super aber die Nudeln waren ein wenig zu klebrig, es hat aber trotzdem geschmeckt

Nach dem Umbau endlich mit mehr Plätzen (würde sagen ca. 30-40 Plätze)! Das Essen ist sagenhaft und die Karte ist überschaubar, dafür schmeckte bis jetzt wirklich alles, was ich probiert habe. Auch für Vegetarier sehr gut geeignet! Eins meiner Lieblingsrestaurants in Bochum. 😊

Kantinen artiges Ambiente. Das Essen ist lecker und recht außergewöhnlich. Das Salat Dressing ist sehr sehr lecker.

2015 war ich für mehrere Wochen in China und die diversen Dumplings haben es mir SEHR angetan. Neben den legendären Soup Dumplings, die (bisher) in Deutschland schwer zu kriegen waren, habe ich seitdem hierzu Lande viele gebratene Dumplings probiert, in der Hoffnung, dass sie den überaus köstlichen Dumplings aus dem kleinen Imbiss neben dem Pearl Tower in Shanghai auch nur irgendwie das Wasser reichen könnten. Wie war das gleich… was lange währt wird endlich gut? JA! Bei Genki Bao & Burger im #bermudadreieck in #bochum kann man sich (nicht nur) durch die Dumpling 🥟Vielfalt probieren. Meine Favoriten sind definitiv die Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) mit Fleischbrühe und die gebratenen Jiaozi mit Garnelen und Schweinehack machen eine Reise nach Shanghai endlich unnötig & ich bin im 7. Dumpling Himmel 🫠

这算是已经有些西化了的或德式化了的中式小吃馆，尤其是那个鸭肉的肉夹馍，馒头的包底和口感配上沙拉酱，刷新了口味体验。整体不过不失吧，分量还可以。

Das Essen schmeckt gut. Das Restaurant ist klein und gemütlich eingerichtet. Leider wurden uns statt vegetarischen Dumplings welche mit Fleisch gegeben, und eine bestellte Vorspeise wurde vergessen. Es wurde sich aber entschuldigt.

I only discovered this little gem recently, yet Genki Bao & Burger is already my favorite place to get food in Bochum. Every item on the menu is absolutely delicious, and the service very quick and efficient. Incredible!

ACHTUNG❗️ ich hatte in meiner Veganen Suppe ( ich hatte extra nochmal erwähnt dass sie vegan sein soll) ein Stück Fleisch. Als ich die Bedienung darauf ansprach meinte sie nur dass der Koch den gleichen Löffel für die Suppe mit Fleisch und die Vegane Suppe benutzt.

Essen war sehr lecker und auch der Service war gut und die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen.

Food was ok but nothing spectacular, i would even say kind of tasteless. Soya sauce was without taste at all! No toilet, poor drinks choice. Not friendly stuff

I am really not sure why they have such good rating. The service didn’t speak a word German or English only Chinese. The worst part was the food the pork dumplings were definitely gone bad. There was a strange funk to it after a bite, I still ate it. It took me couple of days until my stomach returned to normal. Horrible experience.

Gutes Essen zum fairen Preis. Ich finde nur schade, dass es nicht wirklich möglich ist mit einer größeren Gruppe dort essen zu gehen, da reservieren leider nicht möglich ist.

Nette Bedienung, klein, sauber, Dim Sum sehr lecker, Preis-Leistung top! Wie bereits erwähnt, lasst euch von dem Umbauschild nicht beirren, 20 Schritte weiter werdet ihr fündig 😀 Guten Appetit!!

Sehr niedliches und kleines Restaurant in der Brüderstrasse in Bochum. Interessierte Gäste sollten sich nicht durch den gleichnamigen, jedoch geschlossenen Laden ein paar Türen weiter verwirren lassen, sondern den Blick ein wenig streifen lassen, dann findet man dieses Kleinod. Wir haben vegetarisch gegessen und waren begeistert. Die Edamame als Vorspeise waren perfekt al dente. Es gibt sehr aromatische, kleine Gerichte, die fluffigen Burger waren absolutes Neuland für uns. Als Nachspeise haben wir die verführerischen Hefeklöße mit Vanillefüllung genommen, unwahrscheinlich lecker! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder her!

Es liegt im Bermudadreieck und zum Glück hat der Laden die Pandemie überlebt. Das Essen ist noch genauso gut wie vor 4 Jahren und bissl vermisse ich jetzt schon wieder das Essen. Zu empfehlen sind die Teigtaschen mit Brühe gefüllt. Die Nudelsuppen sind auch super. Nächste Mal in Bochum schau ich wieder vorbei 🥳

Waren zum 1. Mal dort und es war wirklich sehr lecker! Wir hatten viele verschiedene Sachen probiert und es gab nichts, was nicht überzeugt hätte. Alles war top gewürzt und frisch zubereitet. Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder :)

Mein absolutes Lieblingsrestaurant. Ein vielfältiges Menü und toller Service. Die Speisen sind immer frisch zubereitet und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist nicht zu übertreffen. Eine klare Empfehlung!

This is the best place to grab a bite in Bochum. And believe me, I am not overstating anything. Just come here and order the Nudels or the Genki chicken burger and transform your idea about food in general. Bonus points for the kind staff, amazing cheffs and the always clean place with great atmosphere! 10/10 no doubt! 🙏

Leckere hand pulled noodles: Kleiner Laden, mit sehr leckeren Essen. Bisher wurden wir nie enttäuscht, ganz im Gegenteil es ist immer ein kleines Erlebnis zu Genki zu gehen. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und die Preise angemessen. Die Getränke sind verhältnismäßig teuer. Das Essen ist immer authentisch koreanisch und schmeckt stets hervorragend. Obwohl es sehr geschmacksintensiv ist es angenehm mild in der Schärfe. Komme immer gerne wieder!

Ich kenne diesen Laden jetzt schon sehr lange und gehe mindestens 1 mal die Woche dort hin. Ich wurde noch nie enttäuscht und weiss, dass das aus so bleiben wird. Essen unglaublich, Service sehr nett und das Ambiente auch sehr angenehm. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen

Sehr leckeres Essen. Die Mitarbeiter sind auch mega freundlich gewesen. Mich hat nur gestört, dass eine der Mitarbeiterinnen sehr stark nach Rauch gerochen hat. Da das Restaurant sehr klein ist, war es nicht zu vermeiden. Während des Essens hat mich das sehr gestört. Trotzdem gibt's für das Essen und die Freundlichkeit von mir 5 Sterne.

Kleiner Laden der überrascht. Sehr authentische Küche und freundliche Inhaber. Die Speisekarte ist zwar nicht besonders groß, aber alles ausgesprochen gut. Sowas brauchst es mehr in Bochum!

Ein super Restaurant. Wir gehen hier öfters Abends hin und genießen das leckere Essen. Ich kann euch das Original mit Rind empfehlen. Auch für Vegetarier gibt es hier leckere Möglichkeiten.

Super kleiner Laden der sich fast schon im Bermudadreieck von Bochum versteckt. Dieses kleine Juwel ist dennoch fantastisch. Hier gibt es super leckeres Essen und Bier. Das Essen war derartig gut, dass wir am nächsten Tag wieder kommen wollten. Es ist lediglich etwas eng und wir könnten keine Toilette ausfindig machen. Kartenzahlung dafür kein Problem.
