Genazvale in Berlin

I've been a guest at this and other Georgian restaurants in Berlin and Russia for a while now, and I must say that I was initially very impressed: delicious food, a very nice and relaxing ambiance, and infectiously friendly staff and service. Unfortunately, that faded... We (my wife and I, and two friends whom we wanted to show a nice Georgian restaurant) ordered khachapuri for starters, and shashlik/meat skewers for the main course. For the first time, I experienced the main course coming first, followed by khachapuri. When I asked why we received them in reverse order (it wasn't the case at the neighboring tables...), we were simply told that it's normal for khachapuri to be eaten alongside the main course. I felt a bit cheated because the khachapuri arrived when we were almost finished with the main course (we were told it would take 10 minutes – so there was a delay). Well, and the main course: 6 small pieces of meat distributed from left to right on a large plate – very, very tidy! And the accompanying pieces of onion seemed rather lost in the mix. In my opinion, the food was delicious, they probably just forgot the khachapuri, but the small pieces of meat (they definitely used to be bigger...) were nowhere near worth the price!!! In short: We left the restaurant almost as hungry as we arrived, so we helped ourselves to a few slices of bread at home. I really hope this changes, otherwise my wife and I won't be coming back – and I wouldn't take friends there either, just to show them a Georgian restaurant, along with some delicious food.

Terribly bad service... and I say that as a native Berliner! None of the employees gave the slightest impression of being interested in customers. We sat at our table for 10 minutes, while various waiters walked past us several times before we even received a menu. And then only after we asked. In between, no one even asked if everything was OK or if we wanted something else to drink, etc. The bill came quickly, but I had to wait several more minutes for my change. Finally, I went to the counter myself and asked for my change. Another 5 minutes later, I finally got it. The location is really nice and well-suited for larger groups. The food was also delicious. Nothing outstanding, but something different and good. But because of this abysmal service, I really can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. It's a shame!

A meal at Genazvale should be a culinary experience – but it turned out to be a prime example of how to scare away guests. First, the food: Everything was overloaded with coriander – and it wasn't even mentioned anywhere on the menu. The food was rather mediocre in taste, but incredibly expensive. The price-performance ratio is completely out of proportion. But the real low point was the service: The waitresses weren't just unfriendly, they were downright rude. They gave rude replies and made you feel like you were interrupting your order. And then the icing on the cake: €48 too much suddenly appeared on the bill. An apology? None. It was canceled – on the third attempt, but only reluctantly and in a tone that completely ruined the evening. I honestly don't understand all the good reviews. Maybe it used to be different – ​​but what we experienced was a true restaurant horror. Never again.

I had a wonderful time with my friends, and we were all very pleased. From the beauty of the building where the restaurant is located and the interior that takes you straight to the heart of Georgia, to the authentic Georgian wines with a wide selection, everything was impressive. We love and know Georgian cuisine well, but here everyone noted that the execution of the dishes was at the highest level. Highly recommended!

Atmosphere there is cool, but I expected a greater spectrum of taste from food. Was there twice and both times there were not really fresh items, e.g. cake that tasted like cooked two days ago of bread from yesterday. Prices are a bit higher than average.

If you've already seen it all, this is truly something different! And the vegetable-based appetizers are superbly prepared. The decor is classic—why not, it doesn't always have to be modern.

A disastrous restaurant visit! We received terrible service throughout the entire evening, with each meal arriving 30 minutes apart. The price/performance ratio is terrible. Suddenly, the music started playing so loudly that you couldn't have a conversation. The neighboring tables also complained. When paying, we were surprised to receive the message: the card reader isn't working! This should have been communicated from the start. We will definitely not be coming back, as we didn't feel comfortable at all!

The food was tasty, but the main courses were a bit small. What was more annoying, however, was the service. You don't see anyone for a long time, and you're not asked if you want another dessert or something to drink. The dirty dishes aren't cleared away. I should have spoken to the blonde waitress in Russian, because then you get better service.

The food is fabulous: meat, cheese parcels, soups, bread—everything is really good and tastes very unusual. The ambiance is also very nice: paneled walls, mirrors, plenty of space, high ceilings, beautiful lighting. If you're willing to wait half an hour for a waitress, only want to pay in cash, and are okay with a few missing drinks and dishes from the menu, and enormously expensive wines for €8-10 a glass, then you're in for a great culinary delight! It was also quite funny: On one menu we were given, all the dishes and drinks had been crossed off with a cross. A child's prank?

Unfortunately, I was honestly disappointed. We were ignored and had to go inside to be served outside. The food wasn't cleared away throughout the evening, and we weren't even asked if we wanted anything else to drink. The food was delicious, but the service and ambiance were truly poor. The tables were wobbly.

The two of us spontaneously went there because we wanted to try Georgian food. Because of the nice weather, we sat outside. No one came. After about 15 minutes, I went inside and had to get the chatty staff to bring us the menus. After what felt like another 15 minutes, we were finally able to order. Unfortunately, the waitress couldn't tell me what the sauce contained and pointed out that payment was cash only. So my friend had to go back to get some money. The food was really delicious, but we definitely won't go there again. We just didn't feel welcome at all. Such a shame!

Everything was outstanding: delicious food, excellent service. We went to the restaurant with the whole family, and everyone was absolutely thrilled. Our waitress was very attentive, very kind, and friendly! I've been to Georgia before, and I can only say: the food was like Tbilisi. We'd go back anytime! The Livshits family, Baden-Württemberg.

Nice place. Had to wait a lot for waiter's attention. Sadly they don't accept cash. That's such a horrible thing. Imagine living in 2025 and you've to come up with cash at a restaurant in Berlin even if your bill is more than €250.

Quite a good pleasant place. Tasty khinkali and lamb shashlik. I took off one star for the food, only for the prices. Especially for the water.

We wanted to have Georgian food and chose this restaurant. The food was okay, but the service left something to be desired, which was a shame. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so guests could have expected more. Because the waitresses didn't take notes and tried to remember everything, we ended up missing two drinks and a starter didn't arrive at all. We canceled it at the end, before the bill arrived. For me, good service is a must for a great dinner. The food was fresh and delicious. We would have definitely ordered more, but eventually, people rarely came to our table. The table next to us had already gotten up and was looking for the waitress. That's just not right!

One of my favorite restaurants! They always serve delicious meat and simply fantastic khachapuri. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the dishes are true Georgian classics. I always enjoy coming back!

The food in the photo tastes good. The service leaves a lot of room for improvement. We were served wine with insects in it. I very politely pointed this out to the waitress. Instead of "sorry," I only heard "Alinaaaaa." Yelling at the employee is not a reasonable apology for the unpleasant situation. I have visited four Georgian restaurants in Berlin, and nowhere was I served wine with insects. To be precise, two fruit flies. The statement "we only accept cash" is also a joke for a restaurant that positions itself as "high class." The money laundering allegations should definitely be investigated.

And another Georgian, who are now flooding Berlin like a flood. And another Georgian who's barely above average. And another Georgian who praises himself for being special, yet offers everything just like what feels like thousands of other Georgians in the city do. It's okay, it's delicious, and that's about it.

The food, service, and ambiance were really good. However, I don't think the value for money is adequate. Paying €18 for a dumpling with some cheese and an egg is borderline. The dumpling was very tasty, but for that price, I ate it once. The meat skewer for €19 was also really good, but there were no side dishes; you would have had to order them separately. The Georgian beer isn't really recommended either (we didn't try the wine). There were three of us, and everyone got their food at different times. The hungry child was forgotten, but they brought it later. It's a good idea to bring a thick wallet here.

That's okay. But the employees don't need to be so arrogant.

Such a nice restaurant with very good food

Can't say much about the food or price because I didn't even sit. At the arrival I got warned that no card payments were possible that day. In 2025 in a restaurant where you can easily pay over 200€ this is unacceptable. I don't go around with my bank account cash in my pocket. We went to the restaurant 600 meters away called Batumi. Great food, great service and... THEY ACCEPTED CARDS!

The food was truly delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, we weren't very satisfied with the service. Our request for a better table wasn't granted (there were three of us at a table for six), and the waitress was a bit rude at first. We didn't feel particularly welcome. When we went outside to smoke, someone offered to bring us our freshly ordered drinks. After a quarter of an hour, they still hadn't arrived. We found them at our table, unfortunately right by the aisle at the three empty seats, which also left a very unpleasant feeling. Later in the evening, it became more crowded, and the acoustics were reminiscent of a cafeteria. I've rarely had to hold a conversation at such an extremely loud volume in a restaurant.

The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We had made an online reservation, but the reservation wasn't honored – they initially refused to give us a table. The staff was also unfriendly and unattentive. After the meal, the used plates remained on the table for a long time, and no one cleared them until we asked several times. The service seemed arrogant and unprofessional. Additionally, you can only pay in cash, which isn't stated anywhere – for a group of seven people where separate payments weren't possible, this was very inconvenient. And this in Berlin!! One dish was mixed up, the bill showed a more expensive one, and it was difficult to resolve the error. Overall: great food, nice ambiance, but the service leaves much to be desired. It's a shame – with better staff and clearer communication, the visit could have been really nice.

The restaurant has turned into a canteen at the train station! They serve shashlik made from tough old pork that is impossible to cut with a knife. Salad: cucumbers, tomatoes, from the cheapest vegetables...etc. The only dish they haven't ruined is Tarragon. I don't recommend going in even if you want to eat for free! It's a shame! From the best Georgian restaurant in Berlin, as I wrote above, Nenatsvale has turned into just a train station eatery!

Delicious food, quiet, family-friendly atmosphere. I've tried other Georgian restaurants in Berlin, but this one has become my favorite.

We were there with several people, and I wasn't that impressed with the overall experience. The restaurant was really stylishly decorated. The food was okay. All the meat dishes were particularly good. The service was okay, but perhaps a bit brusque, but not unfriendly either.

I really like the food in this restaurant, especially the barbecue, the bread, and the sour cherry juice. It is our favorite restaurant, especially for family gatherings or celebrations!

The food is good, especially the grill meat. I recommend the fresh baked bread, the best stone oven bread ever! The atmosphere of restaurant is nice, great place for birthday celebration.

Unfortunately, this visit was another disappointment. For us, this was definitely our last time at Genazvale. A quick note about the food: You can get very similar dishes at any Greek or Turkish restaurant for significantly less money. The meat was quite tough, and unfortunately, the service was too. I don't have a problem with the fact that Georgians are a very proud people, but the service staff shouldn't forget that their guests want to feel comfortable, especially if they're willing to pay €61 per person, not including tips. What a shame. A real shame.

A truly beautifully decorated restaurant. The food, for me, was a special experience. The dumplings were delicious, and the cheese was really good. Unfortunately, my favorite main course wasn't available, but the alternative, trout, was excellent. One of the things that surprised me most was the house white wine. I assume it was from Georgia; it was truly delicious. It was full-bodied, fruity, and had a certain body for a white wine. Many thanks to the excellent service team, who met our requests quickly, very friendly, and informatively. We'd be happy to come back.

Service deteriorated. Even though many tables were empty, we still had to wait a long time for a waiter.

There are fantastic, high-quality dishes. But the waitress says, "I don't drink wine, I can't help you." Unbelievable. The appetizer and main course arrive at the same time. Very annoying. The service is poor. It's a shame. I know the restaurant; it used to be better organized.

Food was ok, nothing more, salad partly wilted, immediately cooked, the request to change the table because it was too small for 8 people was not accepted, although the restaurant was almost empty, service ok, nothing more, we won't go there again

I was here with colleagues and we had made a reservation in advance. Since I didn't choose the restaurant myself, I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately, the local cuisine doesn't quite match my personal taste, so I'm giving it 2 stars. The service, however, was excellent: extremely friendly, attentive, and competent. For that, I give it a full 5 stars. Even though the ambiance seems a bit dated for my taste, it is clean and well-maintained.

Unfortunately, it has declined significantly in recent years. The service, especially from the older lady, is a disgrace. No hello, no smile, no goodbye, and best of all: after we were served the wrong dish, she tried to persuade us to stick with it. When we insisted on the dish we ordered, the dish (chicken skewer) came out of the microwave within two minutes and was inedible. The appetizers are delicious, hence at least two stars.

Unfortunately it was an absolute failure. Service was terrible and very unfriendly. You won't be told hello or goodbye here. Food was pretty borderline meat was cooked dry until it was no longer possible. Cartilaginous flesh with many bones. Not particularly tasty either. But the ambience is quite nice

Six of us had dinner at Genazvale and were not disappointed with the food. The meat – whether pork, chicken or salmon – was consistently tender and tasted excellent. Particularly noteworthy are the dumplings (Khinkali) and the soup (Khartscho), which impressed with their intense flavors.  The ambience is traditional and lovingly designed, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Although it was a little louder and the room temperature was quite high, we still felt comfortable.  The service was attentive and friendly. Recommendations were made upon request and individual requests were addressed. Prices are in the mid to higher segment, but are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. For lovers of Georgian cuisine or those who want to get to know it, Genazvale is a clear recommendation.

I know that the boss is a complete mess, the staff is generally clear, there was one rainer there, just God, he ran a kilometer in 2 minutes, I didn’t see him in this establishment again, they probably didn’t hire him, after that my favorite restaurant became the worst, because they didn’t hire such a guy. Boss, you made a big mistake, correct it while you still have the opportunity!
