Gel Gör in Berlin

A Kreuzberg institution, I always leave happy.

This is the best sandwich in the world. We travel all the way from the USA to eat here. This place is world-famous, and the sandwiches are incredibly flavorful.

The food is incredibly good, very authentic, and the people who work here are very, very nice!!

5 stars! My experience at the Gel Gör restaurant couldn't have been better. And for Berlin, I felt warmly welcomed by the owner himself, Mr. Gel Gör. Delicious food, all the salads fresh and crisp, clean and pleasant atmosphere. And they even allowed me to bring my dog ​​Brisa in. It was raining, winter, the poor thing was wet and shivering from the cold. We had just left a place that treated me very badly and said they wouldn't accept my dog, even though the place was completely empty. And then we were warmly welcomed at Gel Gör. This restaurant was a real find for me in Berlin, where unfortunately people have a habit of being very rude, being treated so well and having my dog ​​accepted won my heart! Berlin has everything, and lots of it. At first glance, Gel Gör looks like just another one of the thousands of fast-food places in the city. But I've rarely eaten such high-quality food. The sauces were fantastically seasoned, fruity, and slightly spicy. The meat was cooked to perfection and very tasty. The staff works quickly and efficiently. Everything is made fresh, and you can taste the difference. 10 out of 10!

Köfte in bread is unbeatable, but the Tecno plate for 17 euros is unfortunately a disappointment.

In other places in germany you might say this is a okayish to not bad place but not in this area. For what you pay you don´t get enough quality or quantity. The sandwiches were ok. The sauces were not woth mentioning. But the Techno Plate we ordered for 17,50€ was a disaster. The salad was not the one advertised on the pictures, the falafel were the worst I ate in a long time and the size was not nearly comparable to what was shown on the pictures outside.

Amazing - cannot recommend enough. The Tecno im baguette is a phenomenal sandwich. The staff and owner are fantastic and so welcoming. The quality of the food is extremely high and it’s always a pleasure to come here. Strongly recommend a stop here

The lentil soup is probably the worst I've ever eaten. Bland, watered down with too much water, and served with stale bread. Small portion, but very expensive.

I waited a long time because someone else had priority because he was eating at the restaurant. Very bad service I paid 10 euros for Durum. It was terrible, very tasteless. I often see many people rating it and I thought it would be delicious. It's too bad I'll never eat there again even if I'm hungry. 🤮

17.50 for a box with 3 mini sausages and 3 falafel balls on a small serving of sakat, vegetables, and a piece of dry bread is a disgrace that deserves a review. Rip-off. Don't go there!

Absolutely recommendable!!! The kofte sandwich was the best in Berlin, and the falafel sandwich is right up there with them. At this place, you can tell the people put a lot of thought into it, and they do the little things that really enhance the flavor, like toasting the bread in the fat and on top of the kofte, or making sure it's a mixed salad instead of a cheap iceberg lettuce. As I said, absolutely recommendable, and I'll keep coming back as long as the place exists.

The food was delicious; we especially enjoyed the cog kofte. A wide selection, including vegan and vegetarian options, and there are lots of special dishes, and everything is fresh. We got cay on the house without asking, which was very nice. We'd love to come back!

Explain to me a place that's open 24/7 and is closed TWO times you try to go? One Wednesday night (around 10 p.m.) It was closed. The next day, a Thursday lunchtime, the place was fully open, with one table occupied. Upon entering, a man came from behind the counter speaking in German. Even after I said I didn't understand, he insisted. It was then that one of the guys sitting at the table said to me, "It's closed, come back tomorrow." Now, it's unclear if it was actually closed or if they refused to serve me for some reason, given that their customer service was ZERO. So I didn't go back, but it's ironic that the place closed and claims to be open 24/7, which isn't true.

LECKER yummylicious.This spot is more grilled meats/BBQ rather than traditional Döner which is meat from a spit. So I wouldn’t class it as Döner. We got the chicken in baguette sandwich form and also a large chicken durum. Pros: it tasted fresh, flavorful, the chopped mint and parsley makes a Difference and brings everything together. It tastes more organic compared to normal Döner. It’s a more refined version. Loved the option of baguette bread and the durum wrap was a thicker wrap than other spots. Cons: large durum is regular size, nothing large about it *PS: hummus is yummy here too Extremely recommend !!!!!!

I wanted an Adana plate with yogurt. I asked if you could also get it with rice and the man without a voice (!) said “anything you want, lady”. I also ordered two small böreks from the display. In the end I got an Adana plate with just rice and no yogurt. When I later asked about the yoghurt, another employee told me I had ordered his colleague with rice. That would be a different dish and a different number. How should I know and why did the man without a voice - who was suddenly no longer available to me - think that this was possible. I would have paid any extra! But accusing myself of simply ordering something else wasn't very nice. I can't know the whole map by heart, it's your job! It just bothered me so much and was also the reason for this review because I'm pregnant and have been craving a plate of rice and especially yoghurt all day long (!). By the way, I didn't get the Böreks at all. But by then I no longer had the energy to argue for the few euros. Maybe you shouldn't put a man without a voice at the checkout, then such misunderstandings won't happen or you should just deal with them in a more friendly way.

I haven't been here for a while and it was often delicious. I've now ordered koffta and when I asked what I wanted on it, I said what I didn't want from the salad and it was still put on it on purpose, almost defiantly "especially now", nice and slowly. When I said I didn't want it and wouldn't pay for it otherwise, he put down very little of it and acted as if it was okay now. After I made it clear again that I didn't want to eat it with that on it, he said I could go. Wow, it couldn't be more idiotic, I just chilled there for 10 minutes and then got something somewhere else, but treating customers like that for no reason is very bold. The other colleague was nice in general, but just shrugged his shoulders at the situation, like "well, what should you do?"

this place is not what it used to be before - small durum that i got was half empty, not spicy despite me asking for scharfe sauce 3 times and badly rolled - how can you not roll it up properly at the bottom? have you eaten it once like this yourself? it all spills out at the end.

I spontaneously drank a lentil soup in the evening. I paid €5.50 at the sign outside for €6.50, which is a bit too much for a lentil soup. Generally eye contact and a greeting are skillfully ignored, people simply wait for what they want. The soup itself was delicious, but unfortunately the extra oil you added ruined it. Overall it's a nice shop, but it could be expanded here and there.

Gelgor is absolutely delicious! The price-to-quality ratio is fantastic 👌🏼. As a vegetarian, I love their kofikta—it's an explosion of flavor and texture in every bite! I've brought all my friends and family here, from meat lovers to vegetarians, and we all enjoy it. It's a family-run business, and even when they get busy, they always make you feel welcomed and cared for. I highly recommend it 1000%!

We only went there because the kumpir store one block away was closing already. It was the saddest kumpirs we’ve ever tried… they were super big, but expensive, lacked taste (also the toppings, they all tasted the same except the spicy and the aubergine paste) and the person making them took forever as he was training a new employee and making a show out of “showing him how to prepare it”, although he was very nice and entertaining. Also not really sanitary that the hummus is next to raw meat :( Maybe other dishes are decent, but kumpir I emphatically advise you not to buy there.

This is the first time I see a restaurant that is angry with its customers. Customer: "What do you put in the mixed salad?" Owner: "It's mixed." It's not even an answer to the question asked. Maybe I won't want one of the ingredients he puts in the salad. The price of the salad is 6.5€. They also give us the wrong order. "It wasn't your order." he says. What do I understand if you say "mixed"? Portions are very small. Everyone working in the place has a sullen face and is discourteous.

Delicious köfte but portion is too small. Bread is crunchy, tastes good. Köfte should be more while the salad is sufficient. Homemade ayran recommended.

I eat so often and with pleasure at Gel Gör, especially Dürüm or Sandwich. But today I ordered plates through uber eats rojava and I have to say I have never eaten them so tastelessly. The meat was tough, unsalted, parboiled rice which tasted very neutral and has nothing to do with Middle Eastern cuisine. Disappointing because I expected something better for €20 and I will never order from Teller again. It was honestly inedible. The Ayran was very good as always. Nevertheless, I have to give it one star because the quality was poor.

The guys completely confused our order, claimed it on us and refused to make it right. The first guy did not understand neither English, nor German. I was ordering both with names of dishes and numbers - but it did not help. When we saw that they are preparing the order wrong, we mentioned it - again guys were not understanding what we are asking, and the main boss stated, that we ordered other things, simply said sorry we did not understand you, and that was it. I genuinely live their food, but this experience was awful. Recommendation: use writing when ordering.

Tasty and full of lovely people

On the way we got hungry and so we ended up at Gel Gör. I had Dürüm with vegetables, my companion had kofta on baguette. I found both very tasty - but the kofta were sensational, especially in combination with the great bread. The small minus point in midsummer were the pigeons outside outside, which sat directly above our heads and kept suddenly fluttering away. I was afraid that something unplanned would end up on my plate :D

Been there for years, the Kofte is as good but we realised after some time that feathers were falling on us. We later realised that there was a pigeon nest right above our table. The “babies” look already grown up so it must have been there for months. When mentioning it to the staff they just sated that they knew about it. Really gross

Everything there is here is highly recommended. The baked potato is also not to be underestimated, but you should also be very hungry for it. You don't have to wait long for your food here and you'll feel full. You can customize your food very personally and the taste is always unique.

The two of us ordered lamb steak in Dürümbrot. The meat was in two parts in the Dürüm bread. At first we kept thinking that it couldn't be a lamb. It was too solid and chewy and had no taste. It was probably beef. When I bit into the second piece of bread, I noticed a bad smell from the meat and couldn't continue eating. My fellow diner also smelled the meat and felt sick. Then we explained this to the waitress. Whereupon the gentleman in the store came and asked what we wanted. Then he claimed that it was meat and that it smelled natural. We said that it wasn't the first time we'd eaten meat and that he should please smell it. Then he got so upset that he kicked us out: He literally said in Turkish: “Get up and go!” - took the plate, turned around and left. I have never experienced something like that. Really disrespectful, outrageous behavior! We had already paid in advance! Impossible!!!

My girlfriend and I just ate. We ordered lamb steak Dürüm. We didn't get lamb steak but beef. During the meal we noticed a bad smell from the meat. When we told us about this, an older employee threw us out. He didn't want to know anything about it. It's a shame that we had paid in advance, the store isn't worth a single euro!

This is my favorite place of all time! Only, I’ve just now ordered two lentil soups to go and when I came home (I live pretty far away) - I realized I got only one! Pity; but I guess we all make mistakes. I’d love to know if the owner allows a refund or if I can get another soup? :) otherwise; the best!

Very friendly crew&nice atmosphere but unfortunately I have to give 1 star to this burnt künefe. I hope I will have a re-visit one day and get a chance to correct this comment, but not any time soon. This is a very bad representation of Anatolian cuisine.

We had the vegan Seitan Döner, which was fresh and tasty. One star minus because the seitan was very little. But the veggies and salad were tasty and made the whole sandwich pretty good. Service and atmosphere nothing special, guys seemed a little annoyed.
