Gaststätte Neumann in Leipzig

A huge thank you to the entire team at Neumann's Restaurant for the excellent food, the hard-working and friendly service, and the wonderful atmosphere at our grandson's first-day-of-school celebration. We were there for lunch with 15 people, and everything was perfect! It's great that there's still such a great German restaurant out there. Keep up the good work! Best wishes, Jannes's grandma!

Unfortunately, I have had two bad experiences recently. Firstly, I was offered a table next to the smoking area and the kitchen at the bar even though there were a few free tables in the main hall. Secondly, if you can't even make 35 meals instead of 34, then it is very disappointing for me. I will learn from this. However, I would like to stress that the food is really top-notch, but the hospitality leaves something to be desired.

We wanted to book a birthday party there and, of course, tested the restaurant beforehand. What can I say? The food is rather mediocre and far too expensive. The steak of fur was overcooked. The peas tasted like they'd been warmed up in a can. It was all very reminiscent of the GDR era. Of the two waitresses, one was friendly, the other the opposite. So, of course, we won't be celebrating here.

The service is excellent, very fast, and courteous. The food and selection are also good. The prices are a bit high, which isn't really justified.

This was our first time at this restaurant. It has a very nice beer garden. We tried a variety of dishes, and they were all very good. The staff is also quick and always up for a joke. We'll definitely be back. 😄☺️😋🍺🍷

We went there spontaneously and discovered that all the tables were already reserved. Luckily, we were able to get a seat. The service is prompt and, when it's quiet, very friendly, and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, there isn't a large selection for us as vegetarians (that would be the only minor drawback so far), but the beetroot fritters were excellent! The seating is very comfortable both inside and outside, and the outdoor seating area in particular creates a cozy atmosphere. When we were there for lunch a few days later with a larger group, we unfortunately witnessed a server lose her temper and was clearly overwhelmed by the restaurant's operations. There were rude comments when taking orders, and we noticed older guests being yelled at and treated extremely rudely. This definitely dampened the atmosphere and significantly dampened the excellent first impression. It's a shame, because up until then it had actually been very nice and hospitable. When it's quiet - highly recommended; If it's full, it probably depends a lot on who's serving.

A very nice restaurant with a great outdoor seating area and delicious food. The service was good at first but then slacked off once we got our food. We wanted to order ice cream, but after 45 minutes, we were tired of it. The waitress preferred to smoke and take selfies with regulars. It's a shame, as it had been a lovely evening up until that point.

We've been to this restaurant several times now and have been impressed every time. Whether we were there with friends or family, everyone was immediately taken by the warm atmosphere and cozy decor. The traditional German cuisine always impresses us with its high quality – all dishes are freshly prepared, lovingly presented, and delicious. The service deserves special mention: despite being fully booked, the staff were, as always, friendly, attentive, and very quick. Our requests were promptly fulfilled, and we felt completely at home. It was another successful evening, confirming why this restaurant is one of our absolute favorites. We'll definitely be back!

A beautiful restaurant, even though we didn't have a reservation, the waitress Steffi found us a table for two. The service was excellent, and everyone here takes great pleasure in their work. The kitchen team also does a great job, offering excellent German cuisine. After our exciting day in Leipzig, we were able to relax in the beautiful outdoor area and let the day come to a close. Thank you, dear Steffi.

There's a great outdoor seating area here. The food is of good quality and can be described as very good. Unfortunately, the service isn't perfect. We were here on June 21, 2025, for a class reunion. The manager, or at least that's how she communicated it, didn't seem to be in the mood. Several comments and signs of discomfort made me doubt the restaurant's commitment to friendly service. The worst thing is that you're told to stand in line and pay with unpleasant comments. I'll refrain from further visits and hope the organizers find a different location next time.

Decent German cuisine, friendly service, nice beer garden, made a reservation

We went to Neumann's for lunch on July 6, 2025. There were seven of us and we sat outside. The food and drinks were all top-notch, so there's nothing to complain about. Until dessert, of course. A few of us ordered ice cream and berry compote, which was also supposed to be delicious. I didn't want ice cream, however, and had spotted potato pancakes with applesauce on the children's menu. When we placed our dessert orders, they refused to let me have the potato pancakes. At first, I thought the waitress was joking, so I asked again if I could have potato pancakes, but they refused again. Why? I still don't know. I didn't ask because I felt too stupid to argue about potato pancakes and didn't want to ruin the atmosphere. It couldn't have been the price either; the potato pancakes cost €7.50, as do some of the desserts on the menu. It wasn't my main course either, because I'd already had that and wanted the potato pancakes for dessert, so that can't have been the reason. It would be nice if the restaurant owner would comment on this.

It was our first time at the restaurant. The food and service were excellent. We were particularly impressed by the way our grandson was looked after. Highly recommended. We'll be back soon!

Too bad. I only wanted something small. I would have liked a mini schnitzel with fries and peas from the children's menu. I could have had it. But for a €3 surcharge. Why? Is the food prepared differently for adults? I then opted for a small salad. Oh well. There was no baguette with it. Not even when I asked. The cucumber slices were soggy. The lettuce wasn't washed. It crunched between my teeth. I noticed it, but the waitress didn't react. My husband's fried potatoes were also borderline. Nothing fresh. Sure, it's difficult to find a good chef. But the price-performance ratio should be right. It's no longer the case here. Too bad. If the chef can't be blamed for the unwashed lettuce and the soggy cucumber slices, then my criticism goes to whoever is responsible for the salad. This has nothing to do with denouncing. It's a simple criticism. I've had better salads at your place.

Delicious German food in a rustic atmosphere.

We got a small table for two people without even ordering. The food was very good and there was no long wait, even though the outdoor seating was busy on Saturday! We had aspic and cheese spaetzle, both very good!

I've eaten here several times and have always been very satisfied. The kitchen accommodated my lactose-free diet and even offered me an alternative. The service is very friendly, and when the weather is nice, the lovely green outdoor area is a great place to sit.

My parents and I had a great experience at this restaurant. I walked in and asked in German if the waitress spoke English. She said a little bit and we were able to communicate from there. We sat outside on the patio under some beautiful mature trees. I had a veal roll with red cabbage and garlic potatoes on the side. My parents both had schnitzel with cauliflower on the side and potatoes. We then shared an apple strudel with vanilla cream topping and whipped cream on the side.

The food on site was delicious and there was nothing to complain about. However, the service was terrible. We were invited to eat there over Easter. The service staff apparently had the motto of serving the guests in an annoyed manner and sometimes treating them like a complete idiot and also making others look stupid. That's not possible and wasn't fun for us either, especially since we were there with a small child.

Here you can still get freshly cooked German home cooking. I had schnitzel with cauliflower and was thrilled with the taste and portion size. There's also good wine. We'd love to come back.

Wir waren zum Konzert in diesem tollen urigen Haus. Der Hunger plagte dann doch irgendwann und waren froh noch was zu essen zu bekommen. Da waren wir dann doch sehr enttäuscht, zum Essen bekamen wir den schlechtesten Weißwein geliefert (es gab nur zwei trockene, beide waren ein Desaster) und dann kam ein mit Fett durchtränkte Schnitzel mit Pommes (Bratkartoffeln standen auf der Karte) mit einem verbrannten Ei drauf, sehr langweilig angerichtet… es kam so wie ein Rausschmiss rüber… 😏 Echt noch nie so ein schlechtes Hamburger Schnitzel gegessen. Leider sehr schade da wir wohl ein wenig geblendet waren durch diese schöne Lokalität. Jedoch wünschen wir der Küche einen kühlen Kopf zu bewahren und versuchen es mal besser zu machen Alles Gute euch

The restaurant is currently being renovated and you can only order food and takeaway, unfortunately you only notice this when you're standing in front of it.

Wir wohnen gleich um die Ecke und würden eigentlich gern öfter hier im Wohnviertel essen. Das Neumanns hat eine wirklich gute, bürgerliche Küche. Der Biergarten ist schön, das Lokal eher nicht, da ziemlich angestaubt . Was wirklich nervt, dass man jedes Mal, sobald man reservieren möchte, einen Vortrag erhält, dass es eigentlich viel zu spät ist. Heute haben wir 19 Uhr angerufen, es wurde mehrfach in der Küche nachgefragt , ob jetzt noch 2 Personen kommen könnten und wurden aufgeklärt, dass es eigentlich zu spät ist, da 20 Uhr die Küche schließt. Das nervt einfach und zeitgemäß ist es auch nicht. Und so war es jetzt zig Mal. Wir sind dann lieber ins Zhang gefahren. Lecker und entspannt

Trotz telefonischer Tischreservierung wurden wir sofort sehr unfreundlich empfangen. Man bezweifelte die Reservierung und prüfte diese auch nicht nach. Mit den Worte "alles voll" ließ man uns stehen. Da derTon der Mitarbeiterin sehr unfreundlich und aggressiv war verließen wir diese unfreundliche Gaststätte. Wir kennen diese Gaststätte schon von früher,aber unter diesen Umständen werden wir hier nicht mehr einkehren und werden diese auch nicht weiter empfehlen.

Die Hauptgerichte möchte ich als sehr mittelmäßig bezeichnen. Wir hatten als Freundeskreis mehrere Gerichte und keines war wirklich überzeugend gut. Das Dessert „katalanische Creme mit Himbeersauce“ war ausgesprochen mangelhaft. Service und Getränke waren gut . Allerdings 5,90 Euro für einen Liter Wasser aus der offenen Kanne (Leitungswasser?) halte ich doch für etwas überteuert. Schade nur – es gab hier früher schon eine bessere Küche. Wir wohnen in der Nähe und würden bei einer gutenKüche doch des öfteren dort essen gehen . nach dem letzten Speisenerlebnis werden wir allerdings dort nicht wieder einkehren.

We had a buffet. The food was simple home cooking. Everyone found something, but it wasn't particularly seasoned. The exception was the cream mushrooms. It was also empty pretty quickly and it wasn't refilled quickly, or rather the food was empty. The price was quite expensive (26€) - it might have been better with a meal from the menu.

Actually a nice place with really delicious food. However, the friendliness of the service leaves a lot to be desired. This spoils the overall impression.

Unfriendly reception, poor service, the waiter walked past our empty table several times and ignored us. We couldn't order anything. Guests who arrived after us received drinks and menus. We left after 15 minutes and the service staff shouted unqualified comments at us. It doesn't work at all. Alternatively, we got a nice place with friendly service in the Thüringer Rostbrätel.

The Neumann restaurant is a traditional establishment. Everything seems a bit like it did 20 years ago. The decor is a bit old-fashioned, but it's nice to sit in the beer garden. Everything is fine without being exciting, the menu contains no surprises and what you order is given in a decent portion and of good quality. The prices are also ok by new standards.

Thank you for the successful birthday celebration. The girls from the service didn't let themselves be put off and were able to fulfill the special requests. An all-round successful afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere, with delicious German cuisine. I could only eat 1 main course. But the decision was quite difficult to make. We'd love to come back to try out all the other things.

Nice restaurant and conveniently located in a residential area. There is a separate room here that can be used for celebrations. However, the atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned, but definitely cozy. It was our first time there and we would come back if we were in the area again. The food was very good. Coziness was created by the fireplace in which the wood fire was blazing.

A once great restaurant has lost its charm. One day before Christmas, no duck or goose. It's a shame because that's why we were there. The waitress was annoyed. No, we won't be coming back any time soon.

Wir kennen das Neumanns (Iwan) schon viele Jahre. Leider waren wir diesmal sehr enttäuscht, da es einen Tag vor Heiligabend weder Gans noch Entenkeule gab. Auf Nachfrage gab es auch kein Eisbein, das kennen wir von Neumanns anders und werden nicht so schnell wieder kommen. Die Bedienung machte den Eindruck als hätte sie keinen Plan von dem was sie hier tun soll, war schnippig, musste ständig nachfragen. Wir waren enttäuscht. Deshalb Leider dieses Jahr nur so wenig Sterne.

Leider war die Gänsekeule noch hart. Die Dame vom Service ist in ihrer Wortwahl teilweise recht fordernd. Ich würde das nächste Mal ein anderes Restaurant wählen.

Vom Äußeren her eine Gaststätte, wie man Sie häufiger vorfindet: Freundlich. Und liebevoll gestaltetes Ambiente trifft auf rustikales dunkles Holz. Das Essen war bisher immer exzellent und man musste schon nach Gründen suchen, daran Kritik zu üben. Die normalen Getränke sind Standard. Die Weinkarte habe ich bisher nicht genutzt/gelesen. Die Bedienung ist ausgezeichnet und versucht den Kundenstrom irgendwie in der erstaunlich großen Gaststätte unterzubringen. Hier ist auch der größte Knackpunkt: Zu den Hauptzeiten ohne Reservierung einfach "mal schnell vorbeispringen" ist quasi kaum drin - durch das sehr gute Essen und das schöne Ambiente in einer sehr guten Lage ist die Gaststätte quasi permanent voll ausgelastet. Es empfiehlt sich eine Reservierung; Essensmitnahme ist im Falle eines Falles auch drin. Im Sommer/den warmen Monaten wird der große Freisitz geöffnet. Dann ist die Auslastung dann entsprechend etwas günstiger. Das Lokal bietet weiterhin einen Raum für ca 24 Gäste der für Feierlichkeiten gebucht werden kann. Buffet wird dann vom Restaurant Neumann selbst zubereitet. Die Bedienung wird entsprechend auch vom Lokal gestellt.

Wir sind schon mehrfach hier gewesen, auch ohne Anmeldung und waren immer super zufrieden mit dem Personal, Service und den Speisen!!!!!! Macht bitte weiter so und bleibt bitte gesund.

Wir haben hier, am 21.10.23, ein Klassentreffen gefeiert. Die Teilnehmer waren alle sehr zufrieden mit dem Cervis sowie mit den Speisen. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team
