A great atmosphere, you can feel comfortable there, the food is very good and plentiful, the service is nice and very friendly, we always come back, the location can be recommended.

Yesterday we were at the Collective restaurant, we had Mutzbraten with fried potatoes and twice schnitzel with fried potatoes and mushroom cream sauce. The schnitzel was okay, but the fried potatoes were completely burnt in all three dishes. When we pointed this out to the staff, they contradicted us and said it wasn't the case even though it was clear. The restaurant is by no means recommended for the reasons mentioned.

A super cool shop that simply brings its own great feeling, as an Ossi you feel right at home, the food whether before/main/dessert is simply amazing and delicious 🍀👍......I'll be there again this week and the week after next.

Quark legs were great and I'm looking forward to trying the other dishes. A bit like traveling back in time when you enter the store. Friendly staff.

Food a little expensive. The Bratkartoffeln were very undercooked, we left them and told the waiter. He said he would report it to the kitchen. We were not cooked more, nor were we offered a portion of Bratkartoffeln to eat. The place is full of DDR style objects. The staff is kind.

We had dinner here on Saturday, it was really delicious and there were a lot of things to see that were reminiscent of the past. The service was very attentive and our dog was also welcome. I can recommend it 100%.

Eating in the East Living Room. The service is good, the menu has a nice selection of "Eastern dishes" (i.e. dishes that were served in the GDR - I find the word itself difficult, as the border between "GDR", Russian, Hungarian, (East) Prussian in terms of cuisine is often blurred). The furnishings are loving and the service is unobtrusive but always available.

The absolute top hammer! The most delicious GDR dishes are served by the nicest service in an original GDR ambience. We'll definitely be back!

Today we had a meal in this restaurant as a family (10 people). Many thanks to the team and especially to the young gentleman from the service. Refreshing friendliness and quick service left a lasting impression. Attention was paid to extras during the meal, so that everyone was very satisfied. The dishes tasted great, from the starters to the main course to the dessert. It was just great, we would love to come back. We had a really nice evening.

Restaurant with charming Eastern charm. Many of the decorative items were familiar from before 😊. The restaurant was busy, but we were still looked after attentively, there were six of us and we felt comfortable. The dishes were plentiful and all very good. We like to come here from Hamburg to eat. The Saxon cabbage roll and a red rocket are highly recommended. But our favorite remains the Bockwurst with homemade potato salad. :)

Very good food and service, especially the desserts (Quarkkeulchen and Leipziger Lerche) were very tasty. Prices were completely okay, we got a table on Sunday even without a reservation.

So the food tastes very good, the ambience is very, very cool GDR design, but what needs to be highlighted is the service staff, so friendly, caring and cool staff - we haven't experienced anything like this for a very long time. Were there for the first time in the collective for Boxing Day, great selection of all Ossi dishes e.g. Soljanka & Jägerschnitzel - everything your heart desires. I was in the mood for a simple dish and was completely satisfied with my delicious dumpling. Everything on the plate lived up to expectations. The ambience fits well with the Ostalgie concept. Only the service is out of the ordinary. Unfortunately I can't give you a sixth star because it doesn't exist. But you deserve it. Thank you very much!

Found this rustic GDR ambience restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime. Everyone is warmly welcomed there. And I also ate really well and drank the dark beer. I can warmly recommend everything.

A picturesque place, excellent service, unforgettable food. I was attracted by the name of the place, thinking it had really preserved the characteristics of a place before 1989. In reality it is a small museum of period objects, which isn't even that long ago if you consider that yesterday they celebrated the 35th years since the fall of the wall. Anyway good.

We didn't have a reservation, so we couldn't get a seat at 4 p.m. We would have liked to have fed the roller shutters - unfortunately it wasn't possible. On our next visit to Leipzig we will reserve a table next to a hotel in the collective

A safe bet when it comes to food!

Hello everyone, the entrance is a gateway back to childhood. From the ambience to the smell and all of your senses you will be transported back. But that's not the main reason you go there, but to eat. Great classic dishes from back then that are already half forgotten. Just like here, unfortunately, the poor knight for Leipziger Lerche, well. But there are also great drinks and red and green lemonade from today 😄. The food went very quickly, from the delicious creamy seasoned meat to the Jägerschnitzel with tomato sauce and pasta as well as liver Berlin style. Dear chef, leave out some of the raw vegetables and use more onions and brown butter. And I would have been in heaven. But the greens were also well prepared. Unfortunately, my girlfriend couldn't finish the salad because the portions were large. We wanted to take it with us but unfortunately we couldn't because there was nothing to transport it. I found it a bit of a shame, obviously not everyone has the storage options for containers. And 1 to 2 euros for transport packaging doesn't hurt. Because the prices are very humane anyway. Conclusion: I threaten to come back if I get a table 😄😄😄

As a Berliner, I was in this GDR-cultured restaurant for the first time on June 20, 2023 to view an apartment. I was really impressed. Good food, great ambience. I would particularly like to highlight the very nice, friendly, courteous service from the man with the long hair ponytail. The restaurant is highly recommended!

Today we went to a family reunion for lunch at the wonderful collective restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and we basically entered our childhood. Great and wonderful memories, just what it was like in our home country. Super nice service and the menu with the most beautiful dishes ever! It was a magical lunch with beautiful memories and stories from our childhood! The food was great, the service was brilliant and super nice and the ambience was simply incredibly beautiful!! A must in Leipzig! We'll be back!

If you want to take a journey back in time, this is the right place for you. The nostalgic furnishings of the rooms are impressive. But you should reserve a table in advance. It was well attended even for a Wednesday. The waitresses were all in a good mood. The menu offered typical East German food. The chosen dish was delicious. Price/performance top.

If you want to travel back in time, this is the right place for you. Going back to the time of my childhood and youth, it is a great experience. Delicious dishes from long-forgotten times and great service.

Unfriendly juice shop. Table ordered for 5:30 p.m. with a note that we would be there at 5:15 p.m. Table was simply given away. They didn't even try to find a solution. I will never visit this location again.

Great restaurant! Homemade dishes, many of them probably from the pre-reunification period, I have no comparison. It tasted very good, and the rest of a group of 15 people were also very satisfied. Well-made home cooking from times gone by, the beef roulade with dumplings and red cabbage (or red cabbage) brought back memories of old times. The ambience is unique, there is no fancy dress here. There is honest craftsmanship, guests from their hometown, a few tourists and a team that is rare to find today. The waitress was friendly, funny and a real professional. Felt comfortable from the first to the last minute. Many thanks to the entire kitchen and service team. When I'm back in Leipzig, I now know exactly where there are nice people and homemade delicacies. See you soon and thank you very much!

Very tasty and good old German cuisine. The restaurant is decorated with all sorts of old things from the GDR era and makes it cozy just like Grandma used to have on the sofa 😁 definitely a must for Ostalgics and definitely recommended for everyone else. The outdoor seating directly on the Karli is of course not that great, so only the 3 stars for the ambience.

I give this an absolutely deserved five stars! We were visiting Leipzig for a few days and reserved a table in the collective for the first evening. We received a super friendly welcome! The employees really enjoy their job and are very friendly. Simply great service. The ambience is particularly important to emphasize. You immediately feel at home here and can take a little journey back in time to the GDR. Very authentic and designed with a lot of love. It's worth a visit for that alone. The selection on the menu corresponds entirely to the ambience. Traditional East German and Bohemian cuisine can be found here. Great home cooking prepared with love that simply tastes good. Absolutely recommended! We liked it so much that we went there a second time during our stay in Leipzig. For us, the collective is now a mandatory stop on every further visit to Leipzig. All in all, absolutely recommended!

We were looking for good home-style food and were immediately greeted by a very nice waiter! The menu includes fish, meat (super tasty, very tender, very well seasoned) and vegetarian alternatives! For someone who was born long after the fall of communism, the decoration is like a little journey back in time. The nicest thing is the bell that signals that the food is ready and the music from the 50s/60s! Super tasty food, very nice service, a stroke of luck for us!!
