We're currently on vacation in Schönau am Königssee and wanted to enjoy some delicious Bavarian food again. We were more than thrilled. We didn't have a reservation and still had a lovely spot. The service was super friendly and fast. The food was excellent and piping hot until the last bite. They asked us every now and then if we wanted some more sauce. Very good value for money. We'll be back here again, even as a guest on vacation. This inn more than deserves a 5-star rating from us...it's just not enough 😊👍

Super delicious food! The Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes was a dream, and the cheese spaetzle was so delicious! The pumpkin cream soup is also highly recommended. We've eaten there a few times and will definitely be back! The team was also very warm and accommodating. Thank you again, and we hope to see you very soon!

A fantastically authentic restaurant with delicious food. Delicious cheese spaetzle and legendary rump steak. You can sit in the wonderful parlor, just like 50 years ago, or by the house or under the chestnut trees. Very friendly service!

We were only there for dinner, but the small wooden bungalows look very inviting. The service is super friendly and welcoming. The food is very good (and the beer, too).

Unfortunately, there isn't much positive to report here. We've never been treated as unfriendly as we were at this inn. Only the elderly lady was friendly; the waiter should be fired immediately. The food was okay; the steak and pasta were good, and the Wiener Schnitzel was one of the worst I've ever had. The location is great, with a beautiful view, but the staff definitely prevented a second visit.

December 2024: We were with you again for dinner. This time in winter. Admittedly, we had good experiences from our previous visit and therefore had certain expectations. My wife had salmon and was very satisfied. I had roasted shoulder of pork with red cabbage and dumplings. It came with gravy. It was preceded by liver dumpling soup. Unfortunately, I was totally disappointed with my meal. The roasted shoulder of pork was okay and I enjoyed it. It doesn't require great culinary skill, though. The red cabbage, however, was nothing. Completely tasteless. Unfortunately, the sauce was so runny that it was more like soup. The liver dumpling soup was also awful. The soup tasted nothing afterward, just like the liver dumplings. I've had liver dumpling soup several times on vacation, and none was as bad as this one. The taste could have been improved. Perhaps they should work on this aspect again. We're used to better things in restaurants. We didn't visit you again during our vacation, although we usually do so two or three times. This time we preferred other restaurants that are significantly better. We will dine with you again on our next visit, hoping it will be better. - Previous review: Good, home-style, typical Bavarian cuisine. Great view. Very friendly service. The food is excellent 😊. Another visit to Vorderbrand with the usual friendliness and great food. We're always happy to come back and it's definitely a must. However, a reservation is required, as is the case with all other restaurants in the area. Nothing stands in the way of a lovely evening or afternoon, as they also offer delicious desserts and sweets that you can enjoy even in the early afternoon. Best Kaiserschmarrn ever... We stumbled upon this mountain inn quite by chance. Unfortunately, the weather was bad, and we couldn't really enjoy the view. However, we were compensated for this by the delicious food, exceptionally friendly service, and fair prices. The Kaiserschmarrn was the best I've ever eaten. If you're in the area, you should definitely visit this mountain inn.

I can only speak for the restaurant, and I was extremely surprised by it. Here, you'll find what one would typically call "homestyle" fare, and at a high level. The service is friendly, fast, and reliable; everyone enjoyed everything, the portions are generous, the value for money is right, the rooms are quaint, and there's also lovely outdoor seating, including a mini beer garden.

Traditional, cozy inn, lovingly furnished and with a warm and attentive landlady. Delicious food comes in large portions. If the weather is good, be sure to sit on the sun terrace and enjoy the view!

Unfortunately, we experienced rejection and unfriendliness from the staff here. Unfortunately, the entrance to the parking lot was blocked, so we couldn't get through and had to stand in the paid parking lot 400m away. The restaurant can't help it, I completely understand that, but of course it doesn't help you improve your mood if you don't receive friendly service. Unfortunately for me and my friend no further recommendation and definitely not worth the journey (in our case 30 minutes by car)!

We got breakfast from there. You can pre-order and pick it up in the morning. Super tasty and rich. You can book a table for lunch and dinner (but also coffee and cake). We lived in the alpine huts right next door.

What can I say… that's exactly how I imagine a Bavarian inn in the Alps. Super friendly and down to earth service. Great local food and an amazing view! We also thought it was great that snacks were offered if you weren't that hungry in the evening. Highly recommended

That's exactly how it should be! We found a very cozy traditional restaurant. It was incredibly delicious! We had saddle of venison fillet. The prices are okay. Compared to other restaurants in the good average range, compared to a few years ago, the price level is of course already steep. Nevertheless: everything was great here. Service was courteous and very friendly, the location is good. Back to the food: I haven't eaten so well in a really long time. We also treated ourselves to a small dessert. If you want to complain then I can only find one small point. It was slightly cool in the room. But we explained this by saying that we were expecting a lot of guests in the evening (New Year's Eve) and with appropriate additional heating a sauna would probably have been created. We would love to come back!!

We celebrated our civil wedding there with the closest circle on the last weekend in September. The boss (Hildegard) arranged everything really well and nicely. The food was excellent and the price was great. The staff was very accommodating, discreet and always ready if you wanted to reorder. My personal highlight was the perfect venison steak with fresh chanterelles and red wine jus and the snacks with Obazda and crackling lard. Great inn, great location for hiking tours and a super nice atmosphere for celebrations.

Special praise goes to the chef for the heavenly Kaiserschmarrn, which is truly to die for. The portions are generous so it's easy to share. Families with children will get their money's worth here, as there is a great playground where the little ones can let off steam. Overall, the Gasthof Vorderbrand offers a perfect mix of a cozy atmosphere, excellent cuisine and a fantastic location. A visit here is highly recommended for anyone who wants to fully enjoy the beauty of the Berchtesgaden Alps.

A well-rounded thing! Great hut ambience, super nice service staff with original charm. We were able to enjoy the great porcini mushroom dish and our children enjoyed the delicious Kaiserschmarrn. Prices are reasonable and at the lower end (real Viennese veal schnitzel for 22-25 euros depending on the side dish!). We give 5++ stars in all respects!

The ambience was very nice and the cuisine impressed us. We had an excellent meal and were well looked after. However, the side salad for 3 euros was a bit sparse and not particularly creative - a little lettuce and a small half tomato don't seem enough to me for the price. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with anything else. We'd love to come back next time.

We went here to eat and were not disappointed. A very varied menu, tasty cuisine, an attentive waiter and an active boss who occasionally asked about our well-being. Even though we were here for the first time today! During our stay, the waiter also repeatedly asked whether we were satisfied or whether he could do anything for us. And all of this without being intrusive. You feel welcome here as a guest. Heart, what more do you want! We'd love to come back.
