We went here to eat and were not disappointed. A very varied menu, tasty cuisine, an attentive waiter and an active boss who occasionally asked about our well-being. Even though we were here for the first time today! During our stay, the waiter also repeatedly asked whether we were satisfied or whether he could do anything for us. And all of this without being intrusive. You feel welcome here as a guest. Heart, what more do you want! We'd love to come back.

We ate dinner there every day during our vacation 🥰 The 4km serpentine path up is not UNFORTUNATE - but it's worth it in everything!! The boss and staff are so friendly and maintain a family atmosphere that is rarely found 🌈 The food is unsurpassable, very, very good 👍👍👍👍👍 Bergtesgaden’s definitely the best address ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

Wonderful place high above Berchtesgaden. The food is down-to-earth, the quality and taste are excellent! We were particularly happy about homemade apricot dumplings and Kaiserschmarren for dessert. The boss cooks himself, a family business that convinced us! Thanks!

Lovely place, perfect size, to enjoy beautiful natural scenery. The lady who served us is absolutely special, nice, friendly and witty. The food is good, tasty, and the portions are perfect you won't go away hungry. We felt so comfortable in this place that we stayed there for 4 hours 😃 You can get there on foot if you have a good pace and a lot of breath, there are many paths around if you want to move around, of course you can get there comfortably by car with a beautiful road full of panoramic corners on the Watzmann. In short, absolutely go and eat and relax in this place. 👍🤩👍🤩

We ate at the Berggasthof Vorderbrand today. Everything is very lovingly furnished and even if the weather wasn't quite ideal, we were able to sit outside in a dry place. Ms. Runge and her team are very warm and accommodating. The food is absolutely top notch and not too expensive for the quality offered. I can recommend the economy without reservation. Addition from August 2024: We ate with the Runge family again this year and it was another experience! Our recommendation for the inn remains unreserved!

OMG...I'm not a vegetarian, but the spelled risotto is legendary ♥️...I have no idea why the older landlady should be unfriendly...she was incredibly nice to us...we enjoyed our time there so much and are happy to come back..., a dream♥️♥️♥️

Very nice inn with a wonderful view! The food was really delicious! I would particularly like to emphasize the extremely friendly and warm service and the fact that they reserved a table for us inside, as you can't eat in peace outside at the moment because of the extremely large number of wasps. We will be back definitely!

It's a bit off the beaten track, but the journey is definitely worth it. Great Bavarian cuisine and wonderfully located.

This was the best schnitzel I have had while visiting Austria and Germany. Service was fantastic and the views were great too! A must stop by place for rural views and traditional food.

The Alm is an absolute adventure on our mountain hike. My daughter discovered the playground for herself. And as is often the case in life, we felt warmly invited by the cozy atmosphere and drank a beer and ate some ice cream. I can only recommend. Very hospitable, beer and ice cream was good too. Gladly again.

When we are in Berchtesgaden, the Gasthof Vorderbrand is a must. Once again, after more than 9 years since my first visit there, the food is delicious, the service is friendly and the view is a dream. The children's Bolognese in particular was great. But our dishes were also impressive, not least because of the great wild herbs. Thanks so much!

Rustically furnished like a mountain hut, alpine music, great view with sunset, fruity spelled Kaiserschmarrn and then a round of swings!

You should not drive a vehicle that is too large to get there, it is a very narrow, confusing and winding road. Food was ok, small manageable portions, nothing for those very hungry. Counted frozen fries were partly raw. 1 order was forgotten, so that one person only got their dish when the rest of us were already finished - absolutely not possible! Overpriced prices, 1 Wiener Schnitzel with frozen fries over €21.00. Portion of cranberry jam €1.90. Sundae Hot Love almost €8.00. Even the beautiful view isn't worth it. But the landlady is nice, the landlord didn't even greet us when we left.

Came here as a stopover on the descent of the Jenner. I ordered Kaiserschmarrn. It is freshly prepared on site and the portion was huge. We recommend. I have now saved the place and will eat here if I ever go to Jenner again.

After a long search for “where to eat today”? We came across the inn and decided to have communion there. It was definitely the right decision. You were warmly welcomed and seated. Drinks came very quickly and food was ordered. Due to the prices we expected very small portions. Of course we were pleasantly surprised when the plates arrived to us lavishly prepared. I have never eaten such ingenious and delicious veal goulash. The butter buttons that went with it were a revelation. Even though we actually had no room left in our stomachs, we decided to order a Kaiserschmarrn because of the excellent reviews. Well, how could it be otherwise... It was also sensational in taste and very lavishly prepared. We really enjoyed the evening and can recommend it without reservation.

Freundlicher Service, gutes Essen.

With so many good reviews, I think we just had a bad day today. We were in Berchtesgaden for a day and spontaneously came to the inn. We were more or less ignored after ordering coffee. After ordering my pumpkin cream soup, it arrived after what felt like a minute. (Doesn't indicate freshness!) This tasted like everything but pumpkin. Taste cannot be defined, but unfortunately anything but good. The Kaiserschmarrn we ordered was dripping in fat and almost liquid on the inside. Maybe it's their way of preparing Kaiserschmarrn, but unfortunately we didn't like it at all. We were served in a friendly manner by only 2 employees. The 3rd person didn't seem to be interested. After further ignoring from the staff, we went to the counter to pay. Here it said “Payment payment not possible, device has just failed”. Luckily my companion had cash with him, otherwise we would have had a problem. We definitely won't eat here again.

The route to this somewhat remote inn is definitely recommended. The food is very tasty and the large portions will satisfy even the hungriest hiker. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, even the boss asked if everything was OK. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and you can read the newspaper while you wait for your meal. The price-performance ratio is perfectly fine. We'll be back soon in daylight because the view should be nice too.

Wir wurden von der ersten Sekunde an sehr herzlich behandelt und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Ausblick ist unglaublich und das Essen zaubert einem Wärme in den Bauch und ein dickes, zufriedenes Grinsen ins Gesicht.

Wir sind zum Urlaub hier, dieser Gasthof wurde uns weiterempfohlen und jetzt wissen wir auch warum. Das Essen ist super lecker, der Service sehr freundlich und immer mit einem lächeln auf den Lippen. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen!

Sehr schöner Gasthof. Freundlich und zuvorkommend. Man kann auch einen Schwatz mit der Wirtin und dem Personal machen. Kommen gerne wieder.

Die Frage nach dem Standort ist schwer zu beschreiben, weil - direkte Sicht auf das Kehlstein Haus - ob das nun gut oder schlecht ist. Wir rätselten schon ob mit einer direkten Sicht ein gewisser Zusammenhang von früher herzustellen ist. Leicht zu erreichen ist das Lokal nie. Von der Buchenhöhe führt eine breite asphaltierte Straße bis ans Ende, nach dem Parkplatz Hinterbrand, wo auch der Weg zur Mittelstation der Jennerbahn führt. Über das Essen kann ich überhaupt nichts Negatives sagen. Meine verschiedenen Pilze hätten vielleicht ein bisschen mehr Salz oder Gewürze vertragen, gut aber dass dies nicht nach Geschmacksstoffe klingt *sehr gut* Der Speck zwischen den Pilzen war sehr angenehm gelungen. Nicht zu durch und schön rosa, hat trotzdem seinen Geschmack hinzu gegeben. Nur ein bisschen Würze wäre insgesamt geil gewesen, auch beim Salat ... Alles schaut sehr schön aus. Beim Salat hat alles gepasst, nur ein bisschen die Würze. Pfeffer, Kräutersalz, würde reichen. Der Kellner hat uns die Beilagenteller hingeknallt. Er hat ein wenig abwesend, betrunken oder extrem gelangweilt gewirkt. Wir sind schon Kellner gewöhnt die lebendiger wirken. Der Junge hat vorher was genommen - der war durch. Die Hauptspeisen kamen durch die Chefin höchst persönlich. Das wahr super. Aber das war bis zu dem unschönen Vorfall immer so, deswegen waren wir über das Granteln so enttäuscht. Die Chefin, die uns 4 damals sehr harsch und grob davon gehagt hat, weil sie schon Gäste hätte und wir ihr zu viel des Guten wären, ... uns diesmal auch persönlich bediente, war diesmal auch besonders freundlich, was uns sehr gefreut hat. Denn meine letzte ungenügende Rezension ist voraussichtlich daraus entstanden, dass die Chefin wohl sehr gestresst war. Aber Freundlichkeit hilft.

Urigen, gemütliches Lokal mit wunderschöner Aussicht. Wir waren zum Abendessen im Gasthaus. Schäufle, Semmelknödel mit Pilzrahm und Kaiserschmarrn- alles sehr lecker, frisch zubereitet und zügig serviert. Sehr freundliches Personal. Danke für den schönen Abend!

Wir waren dieses Jahr mehrmals dort zum Essen, kennen das Lokal schon seit sehr vielen Jahren. Essen, Service, Ambiente sind super, egal was wir assen es war immer super gut. Preisleistung sind okay. Biergarten sowie Innenlokal sind schön bayrisch und gemütlich. Bis 2024.

Sehr schöner urigen Gasthof. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, große Portionen zu moderaten Preisen. Die Wirtin ist einfach nett und herzlich. Wir gehen immer dort essen wenn wir in der Nähe sind. Vor 7 Jahren haben wir dort unser Ehegelübte wiederholt und man hat uns zu diesem Zweck die Hauseigene Kapelle zur Verfügung gestellt, was wir super fanden und normalerweise nicht üblich ist. Wir kommen immer wieder
