Gasthof Obermaier in München

Was at dinner on Sunday. And was disappointed again. Portions very small but very expensive. Service was rude and unsympathetic.

The gluten free Wienerschnitzel was good. The Munich schnitzel with fried potatoes was also good. Unfortunately, the gluten-free Kaiserschmarrn was not good at all. The prices were high, so we actually expected not just good but very good. The staff was quite cold and seemed stressed. All in all, it's not bad, but given the price/performance, it's not really recommended.

Were there for dinner a few days ago. Great service, the dark-haired condition. Yours sincerely👍 a rarity to see good service today! Attention was paid to gluten-free food. So kudos to the waitress and the kitchen, it was all fantastic

I don't understand the numerous good reviews either, but the "bad" reviews are very good. In short: the quality of the food feels like it has gotten worse and worse over the last 2 years Service: which service? Ambience: actually a nice Bavarian restaurant. However, after staying for about 2 hours we smelled terribly of "kitchen and grease". Thank God no more appointments. Complete clothing for airing on the terrace. Price/performance is no longer suitable either. There is the Truderinger Wirt not far away. Always friendly, consistently good food and reasonable prices. My recommendation and for me the Obermaier is history.

Food was great. The fries tasted fresh and the meat was tender and delicious, as well as the emmental filling that was melting out of it, making everything even better. Great beer, right temperature and good amount of options. Everything was beautifully served with great presentation. Service was perfect. They speak English perfectly here, so language is not a barrier. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, we had a good conversation. The place is incredible, with decorations and furniture capable of showing a great piece of tradition and history, all with great style. I loved and enjoyed absolutely everything about this place and I would definitely go back and recommend it.

Questo è forse l’unico locale a Monaco dove si possono gustare piatti tipici tedeschi con una grande attenzione al senza glutine. Purtroppo non si trova in centro ed è raggiungibile solo in macchina. Ho potuto provare gli spatzle bianchi con il gulasch e i tipici crauti. Hanno anche del pane senza glutine. Dispongono anche dei famosi kaiserschamerren senza glutine( tempo di attesa minimo di un quarto d’ora). Che dire? Buonissimo!

Well, the price of over €400 for a double room is not reflected. Rooms cold, heaters max lukewarm. Fermented breakfast fruit salad. Eating only possible until 9:30 p.m

This is for sure one of the worst places I have been to in the world. The service was the worlds worst, arrogant, rude and the attitude was terrible. Do not go there!!!!

If the bill is over €300, you have to haggle with the staff about the tip. Food was normal, there were 5 of us and we won't eat anything there twice. That's just cheeky!

We ate there with 5 people and had a bill of over €300. Since the service was limited, the tips weren't particularly generous. This started a haggling over the tip and a very unpleasant situation. We were told it had to be at least 10% of the total bill and malicious comments were made so that everyone in the store noticed. Since the food and drinks were already more than expensive and the service described was not good, there was an additional 5 euros. But that should be fine. Then the innkeeper started insulting us and making noise. I've never experienced anything like this before and I think it's the last drawer. When I read through the reviews here, this seems to be common practice among the staff. We will never enter this restaurant again and will leave our money somewhere else. At this point I can recommend the Truderinger Wirtshaus. The staff was very friendly and the food was good.

I was in this restaurant last week because my sister was visiting from Italy. She suffers from celiac disease and cannot tolerate gluten. We found the restaurant while searching online and it was a pleasant discovery. The menu lists dishes that you can eat without gluten, so choosing was very easy. We really liked the quality of the products, the braised meat and duck were delicious. The staff is very helpful and friendly (they also speak Italian). Even though it was a weekday we booked and I can confirm it was full. I will be happy to come back.

Good, down-to-earth Bavarian food. So far we have never been disappointed. Also highly recommended for people with celiac disease. Almost all dishes are also gluten-free! We really enjoy coming here. The ambience is Bavarian rustic, so it's probably not suitable for every taste. In summer you can make yourself comfortable in the beer garden. The service is (mostly) very attentive and friendly.

I put the inn to the test. We ordered a table for 9 people for Christmas. I clarified in advance whether vegan (!) and gluten-free would be the only option for me. We clarified this very quickly in advance, but it was a bit chaotic on site and I felt very uncomfortable because of it, I was worried that something was being misunderstood or something like that - but after a long back and forth I still got something delicious. My family was otherwise happy with the dishes on the menu and the service so far!☺️ Despite Christmas, the people were very professional and friendly. We will still come again at the next opportunity :) Because it was "just" because - among other things, the staff tried very hard to ensure that I could eat gluten-free! This is how it should be when you outwardly advocate for people with celiac disease. Thank you very much ☺️

Venu ici en famille, nous avons testé la carte à 5. Le rapport qualité prix ne nous a pas vraiment convaincu. La cuisine est simple et pas transcendante. L’ambiance est en revanche agréable bien dans le thème bavarois attendu et le personnel fait ce qu’il peut pour satisfaire le client. Un bon point pour la tarte flambée qui nous a bien goûté.

We have been coming here to eat regularly for over 5 years. It is my absolute favorite in Munich when it comes to Bavarian food. My favorite: The roast pork is juicy & tender, the crust is not as puffed up as many restaurants do (where the crust no longer tastes like anything), the sauce is complex and not just salty and the cabbage & bacon salad is not soggy but fresh & crisp. And one more thing about Ms. Olschewski's comment. A €5 tip on a €200 bill is cheeky. We're not American, but a 200€ table requires a lot of effort, here 15€ would be the minimum... If you don't have money for tips, you should stay at home.

Price performance is 100% right. The portions are huge and delicious

Nice Bavarian restaurant with good, quick and attentive service. Another restaurant that has gluten-free dishes on the menu, the taste was very good, we had game goulash and schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn. Prices are now common for Munich...but quality just costs... Despite the fact that it is further away for us, we will come back, even in the summer for the beer garden...

Brutally bad service. Waited over an hour for the food, some of it was lukewarm, some of it was completely forgotten. There is no dessert, the gentlemen say it took so long to serve the main course that the kitchen was closed in the meantime 😂 absolute shame. Sorry. And in the end you were gently disgusted outside by simply not bringing any more drinks. They were probably a little too greedy with the cost-profit calculation. 😉

Great ambience, very nice friendly staff, all orders were brought quickly, food was beautifully presented, cheese spaetzle with fresh crispy fried onions, Wiener schnitzel with super good fries, half duck was tender as butter and very tasty. Roast pork tender and with a great crust. Bratwurst with sauerkraut was very good. Very good fried chicken with salad. Dessert Kaiserschmarrn is highly recommended, the only thing with apple sauce would have been nice. Gingerbread mousse with mulled wine cherries is highly recommended. We were all very happy and spent lovely hours there. Thanks to a great team. Will definitely come back. Lg

Despite the trade fair, we were able to spontaneously reserve a table for 8 people in the evening - the service was very attentive and friendly. There was a bit of a lack of parking, but there is an Aldi nearby. The food was great for all of us (Vienna schnitzel, Munich schnitzel, venison goulash, cordon bleu) and we were able to enjoy the best Kaiserschmarren: absolute recommendation! By the way: I was very surprised to see three gluten-free beers on the drinks menu in a Munich inn - that doesn't happen often.

We ate here on our first evening in Trudering because we were staying at the local hotel. Hotel 5 stars Restaurant 1 star or 0.5 We also can't understand the many positive reviews! We ordered CordonBleu and a Bavarian specialty The CordonBleu carelessly thrown onto the fries and then mayo and ketchup in the bag, no salad and all for just under €23! oversalt food, red cabbage mushy, Food ready out of the bag, Terrible food. I prefer to cook at home. Waitress slowly and chats forever until she comes to pay. Waited probably 20 - 30 minutes. Snippy, rude. Worst service in my life. Never again this restaurant.

The inn is very nicely decorated and the food was okay, but we weren't thrilled about it either.... Our bill in the end was just over 200 euros and we tipped 5 euros because it wasn't worth it to us anymore. Then the waiter actually got upset. He told us that he is used to tipping at least 10 percent. That was really a disgrace.

Very good food and friendly service

The restaurant invites you to feel good. It offers gluten-free dishes, even suitable for those with celiac disease. E.g. Roast pork, Nuremberger on sauerkraut...you can also drink gluten-free beer there. 3 different varieties. We received a very warm welcome from the staff. The food tasted fantastic, was hot and didn't have to wait too long. :-)

You have to differentiate here. The store has different sections and I am only referring to the restaurant. If you're looking for business and Bavarian cuisine, you're certainly not wrong here. However, a cozy dinner is something different for me. The ambience corresponds to a very loud economy, with just such a crowd - in our case extremely. But otherwise not solid either. Basically, some dishes looked very good and were certainly not bad, such as: the Schäufele. The price is already very high for a farm in Trudering. We're talking about €17+ for a goat cheese starter salad - with around 5-6 whole walnuts on the edge, after all. But I'm wondering who eats whole walnuts? Why not use it in a salad. In terms of price, the restaurant is not far from the Stanglwirt in Austria, but is far behind in terms of quality - not to mention the service and ambience. This is not intended to be an intentionally bad review, but rather a contrast to many others here. I think the quality has probably declined in recent years and it would be helpful to differentiate between beer gardens and restaurants. In a cozy restaurant I find it impossible to have energy-saving lamps above the tables, especially since there is usually only one per table, which is so bright that it is blinding and does not create any atmosphere. Hello owner?? I ordered a Wiener Schnitzel for €27, which I assume is of good quality considering the price. Maybe others like greasy and fat-soaked potatoes, but for me it was just too much and the taste was disappointing. The main problem, however, was that the food was cold - the potatoes were cold, the schnitzel was lukewarm. I would have accepted that if necessary if it had at least been tasty. In addition, there was only a half-empty bowl of cranberries with maybe two tablespoons on the side. Awkward. As you can see in the photo, the breading was neither airy nor golden. It was a piece of breadcrumbs stuck to the meat, which was neither attractively baked nor tasted particularly good, let alone looked like a Viennese schnitzel. The meat was a bit tough and was pounded so flat that it was in a 1:1 ratio to the breading. My father invited. Despite initial disappointment, I hoped the schnitzel would taste better, but after the potatoes and the first bite of schnitzel I couldn't confirm that. I ate a little more to give the schnitzel a chance and not cause any displeasure. But after about 30% of the dish I thought I was expecting more for €27. So I stood up without bringing it up at the table and asked the waiter how we could deal with the problem. I calmly explained what was bothering me, without making demands, but with the idea that I could order something alternative. The waiter didn't respond with understanding or regret, instead stating that he found it "interesting" that I had eaten almost half of it before complaining. That was the end of it for me. I find it outrageous to suggest that I want to take advantage of this when my four companions ate their food and the bill was over €200 (4 adults, 1 child - not a bargain and not a small turnover). I explained to him that I was positive about giving the schnitzel a chance and tried to accept it. It wasn't spoiled, just disappointing and tasteless. I don't know whether I should take it as a positive that we agreed to charge the schnitzel normally and serve me a cheaper half duck as a hesitantly granted solution. Duck not crispy but VERY well done. The red cabbage was hot this time, the potato dumplings were out, but OK pretzel dumplings, but they didn't taste like homemade. The sauces seemed to be convenience. Food there quickly. At 8:30 p.m. a lot of things are already over. 9:30 p.m. Kitchen CLOSED!! There is no mention of desserts until too late. Fun fact: My companion found the same duck very tasty! So everyone as they like :-)

Very rustic traditional inn with Bavarian cuisine. We were there as a family and felt very comfortable, the nice waiter had his job under control. There's nothing more we can say except we'll be back.

Been here for the first time and absolutely loved it. Food very tasty, portion size appropriate, service always friendly. We were even asked if they should refill us with sauce for the duck or roast pork. The ambience was also very nice and despite the full house you could chat at the table. Definitely coming back :)

For me as a Berliner, a place where you can eat meat shamelessly and well. I've usually gotten out of the habit of doing this, but for once it's a treat. The service was excellent. Gluten-free food was also implemented with the utmost independence. It was comfortable, but when most of the tables were occupied the noise level was unpleasant.

There are various dishes that can be prepared GLUTEN-FREE, these are marked on the menu. One of the dishes is the duck with potato dumplings... Soooo delicious 🤤 I actually wanted to try the gluten-free Kaiserschmarrn, but I was totally full

Ordered a Wiener Schnitzel (veal schnitzel) with fried potatoes. The portion was quite large, but the schnitzel was a little seasoned and a little tough. The fried potatoes were swimming in fat.

Wij kregen deze plek van de receptiemedewerkster van ons nabijgelegen hotel aanbevolen. De zaak zag er authentiek uit. De gastvrouw was zakelijk en correct en gaf aan dat er maar 1 uur de tijd was ivm reserveringen. Kaart en drank werden snel gebracht en onze keuze werd kort daarna doorgegeven. Het overheerlijke eten werd snel geserveerd. Naast ons werden mensen (die ook nog niet van plan leken te zijn om te vertrekken) verzocht te betalen….. Wij aten met enige tijdsdruk onze maaltijd en moesten dan ook afrekenen. Het bedroeg een rekening van €52.20! voor 1 glas water en een halve liter bier, goulach-friet-sla en mijn vrouw flamkuchen. Ik rondde dit af naar €55,- en zei vriendelijk bedoeld,dit is makkelijker afrekenen. En toen begon het. Normal ist 10% Trinkgeld üblich aber ich rechne das nicht automatisch…. Blablabla Het mevrouwtje dat in eerste instantie aardig leek,was (zo liet ze duidelijk merken) niet tevreden met de €2,80 fooi!! Als het dan echt gesmaakt had, dan was minimaal 10% fooi echt wel aangebracht. Ik probeerde haar nog te vertellen dat dit in Nederland niet zo de gang van zaken is, maar dat kwam niet aan. Wij moesten wel het eten naar beneden werken in record tijd, geen tijd voor een nagerecht. Hierdoor zijn wij de resterende avonden niet meer daar gaan eten! Pech gehabt!

Good Bavarian cuisine in a great ambience. You can enjoy your meal in the cozy inn or in the beautiful beer garden. The service was consistent, friendly and quick. The slightly higher price is absolutely justified. Therefore 5 out of 5.

The salad was very good and quite large for a small portion. However, the serving staff was rude, insulting and completely incompetent. The waiter to whom this applies should first take a course on how to behave towards guests. (terrible).

To the unfriendly "would-be" head waiter who "served" us, he said he had to chase the guests around... insult them... yell at them... threaten to beat them... The prices here are unnormal expensive and the stuff didnt want to tell me how big the portions are, then i saw why (very small portions) the stuff was very unprofessional and very very rude, when i asked if they can answer me little more quite because they were very loud, the waiter started to yell at me in his language (i think macedonian) and he pushed me out of the bar

Unfortunately, I was overwhelmed by the interaction with the guest, i.e. very disappointed with the Bavarian hospitality in your house. My daughter-in-law invited me to a beer garden and wanted to offer me something very special. So we drove specifically to Obermeier. I've never been so unfriendly and dismissive before, Not in any restaurant, let alone at a chip shop. It was very embarrassing for me to see how my daughter-in-law, who wanted to give me something special, and I were treated like that. Saturday, August 24th 2024 around 5:30 p.m., from the lady in the light blue dirndl at the door I was embarrassed, and you can't feel comfortable at a reception like that. We didn't get an answer to the question of whether the beer garden was open and we weren't even given a glance. It's a real shame about the beautiful property.

Antipatici come la m.... il cibo non è male ma il servizio è pessimo. Siamo stati trattati con ostilità, disprezzo e arroganza. Continuavano a parlare in tedesco nonostante gli avessimo detto che non lo capivamo. Prezzi elevati. Assolutamente da evitare per turisti italiani.

Maleducato, arrogante e poco professionale: gettare il resto sul tavolo e urlare è del tutto inaccettabile e non ci hanno nemmeno salutato quando siamo partiti. Un posto che non consiglierei nemmeno al mio peggior nemico.

Unhöflich, arrogant und unprofessionell: Das Wechselgeld auf den Tisch zu werfen und zu schreien, ist absolut inakzeptabel, und wir wurden nicht einmal verabschiedet, als wir gingen. Ein Lokal, das ich nicht einmal meinem schlimmsten Feind empfehlen würde.

I ate here for dinner, excellent Bavarian food, we ordered 3 different dishes, the schnitzel with roast potatoes and lingonberry jam, the super soft pork neck with caramelized onions, fried onions and mashed potatoes and finally some frankfurters with sauerkraut... everything of quality... friendly and welcoming staff, the next time I return to Munich I will definitely return to this restaurant!!

Two of us came here because one of us had to eat gluten-free. What is very positive is that it is guaranteed to be gluten-free. The gluten free food was very good. The normal spaetzle was okay but nothing special. The selection of gluten-free beer is also very nice. The service was quick, but not particularly friendly. You can be a little friendlier, especially when assigning tables. The normal dishes are reasonably priced. There is an additional charge for gluten-free meals. Here you can quickly get 40 euros with 2 beers. Everyone has to know for themselves whether it's worth it. We would still like to come back!

We were staying in a hotel locally and found this restaurants online reviews. We were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation and had the duck and the pork. Best pork we have EVER eaten! Accompanied by the Nachschlag white wine! What a delightful evening! Excellent service also made the evening.

Would highly recommend for the food and the service, although booking is advisable!

The food is very tasteful and good. The service: one of them lets a dog lick her hands and then continues to serve... Our waiter referred to me as darling and was relatively loud. I imagine service orientation and politeness to be different. Also take in the food. A real shame!

Nice place. Duck was disappointment.

After the drinks were incorrectly distributed at the table and this was noticed by the affected guests, the waitress asked them to simply swap the drinks. This is a glimpse into the unpleasant atmosphere I endured here. With incredibly overpriced prices and only one vegan dish on the menu. Which consists of noodles in oil and doesn't taste good. I have the impression that this store lives from what was once a good reputation and has become comfortable in its current design.

Dear team from Gasthof Obermaier, You actually deserve 6 stars. My wife has a gluten intolerance, which all too often poses challenges for us. My wife ordered the Wienerschnitzel with spaetzle and sauce - I emphasize GLUTEN FREE! It was simply world class!!! More of this please and we'll be back.

Bedienung unfreundlich und unaufmerksam, Essen höchstens Kantinenniveau. Biergarten war nicht einmal zu einem Viertel gefüllt und trotzdem durfte man sich sn einem sehr heißen Tag nicht unter die Bäume setzen dondern musste unter der Markise Platz nehmen. Nicht empfehlenswert!

Since we stayed in the hotel and didn't really want to go into the city center due to the hustle and bustle surrounding the European Championships, we decided to have a snack on arrival as well as dinner on site, and it has to be said, we did have not regretted this decision! Despite the stress and the full house, the ladies in the catering team were nice and tried hard (only one waiter gave the impression of massive unfriendliness, but OK, maybe he just had a bad day or hadn't quite digested the 5-1 win against Scotland the night before.. 🤪 ... no matter, you still get full points for the service!) To eat: Both the cold dishes for snacks (sausage salad and Obazda) and the dinner (roast pork, cordon bleu, hunter's steak, fried chicken) were decent portions and absolutely tasty! A matching beer and the culinary pleasure was perfect! Unfortunately, we were no longer able to test the very good-sounding dessert offering (in terms of capacity).... In any case, the Gasthof Obermaier is a top tip and can only be recommended!

The food was ok, quite tasteless and the raw cabbage tasted like soap. I am celiac and there was a 2,50€ overprice for each meal, bread included (taken out of a schar plastic bag, that costed 1,80€ per slice + overprice). When we went up to pay the waiter asked if we wanted to leave a tip (but with the gluten free overprice I thought it wasn't the case) and we kindly refused. He laughed in our face and as soon as we were leaving he insulted us in german.
