Gasthof Obermaier in München

We meet regularly for our collectors' get-together at the Gasthof Obermaier. Besides Bavarian classics, they also offer seasonally changing specials and creative dishes. I love the fitness bowl (see picture) – a salad with avocado, falafel, couscous, etc.

I had a reservation here with a larger group, and everything went perfectly. The food is good; I would have liked a bit more horseradish with the Munich schnitzel, as it tasted mostly of mustard. Nevertheless, the portion was excellent value for money. The waitstaff weren't local, but it was manageable nonetheless. It would be great if the Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) also offered a choice between plum and apple sauce. The Zwiebelrostbraten (roast beef with onions) was a bit small compared to the schnitzel. The dishes were hot and tasty; I would definitely come back. They also have gluten-free beer, which is great for people with allergies.

Rustic inn, good food, attentive, friendly service

One of my favorite Bavarian inns. I've been here many times, with friends and family on various occasions, and it's always been great. The food is delicious and freshly prepared, the service is always excellent, and the atmosphere is cozy, almost rustic Bavarian. It's always worth a visit; unfortunately, others know this, so it's recommended to make a reservation at least in the evening.

Unfortunately, you won't find a toast to coziness in this restaurant... The food stands out. Very simple, aromatically well-thought-out, and delicious brewery fare. It's enjoyable and fun. What's absolutely not enjoyable, however, is the service. Despite having a reservation, my partner and I were escorted out after 24 (!) minutes because the food sales weren't right (i.e., not enough was consumed). Incidentally, the profit margin is higher on drinks, and when we pointed out that we'd like to have another 2-3 beers per person, we were directed to the hotel bar. The day before, we were also thrown out after an hour because the table was immediately taken. The table was still free after 45 minutes. A recommendation for the good food, and a definite recommendation for the service.

We visited the restaurant two days in a row because we were so impressed by the food on the first evening – everything was delicious and of high quality. Unfortunately, the service on both visits was quite disappointing. Despite having reserved a table, we were very rudely asked to leave the restaurant both yesterday and today after a very short time (today only 25 minutes!) – with the suggestion that we could continue our drinks in the hotel. The explanation that our table would be taken again immediately was untrue, as it remained empty afterward. This kind of behavior deserves a definite deduction, especially since friendly treatment of guests should really be a given. It's a shame, because the food would actually be worth another visit.

We searched for ages for a Kaiserschmarn and luckily found it here. It was already 9:25 p.m., but we still got a delicious Kaiserschmarn that would have impressed even King Ludwig. Thank you so much. The lighting is unfortunately a bit bright, but we simply turned out the bulb 💡 and didn't get into trouble for it, just an understanding smile.

The food was good. But when we wanted to pay, the waitress asked us what the tip was. It was just plain rude. Is tipping still voluntary?

Positive: Plenty of gluten-free food and drinks. Converse: Unfortunately, the food was only average, and the quality of the products wasn't exactly top-notch. It was worth a try, but a small second visit.

Third time lucky? The waitress growls at the entrance and then walks away, leaving the "go away" tattoo on the back of her neck in plain sight. A colleague, however, welcomes us more cordially but loses my order, comes back, and forgets about my dinner, and I eat after waiting over an hour. Luckily, the food is good, even the gluten-free version: I wouldn't travel half an hour from Munich to eat here again.

Fantastic food in classic ambiente

A super friendly welcome after a very short-notice reservation on the same Friday evening. The service staff were very friendly. We understood the slight wait, as the place was packed. We were glad to be able to stop in. The four of us only had roast pork, so I can't rate the other dishes. Our photo shows the children's portion for €12.50. The roast, dumplings, coleslaw, and beer were absolutely delicious. The ambiance was 100% Bavarian. We would love to come back. A clear recommendation. Many thanks to the service and kitchen staff, who work here with both hands and heart.

Great beer garden in the middle of the suburbs

Typical Bavarian cuisine. The most delicious roast pork I've ever eaten! It's incredibly cozy inside, and outside there's a large beer garden, some of which is covered. The menu is concise, but the dishes I've eaten so far are absolutely delicious! I'd be happy to come back anytime!

I've been to Gasthof Obermaier three times now – once in the traditional restaurant and once in the beer garden – and both times the food was truly outstanding. Authentic, fresh, and prepared with great flavor – that's what you want from Bavarian cuisine. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would love to come back and highly recommend a visit.

For those with celiac disease, we can enjoy a relaxed meal here. There are several dishes to choose from. Another positive aspect is the friendly service and the fact that you don't have to wait long for your food.

Well hosted very nice waiters that speak English. Food and drinks were served fast. Inside is cozy during winter, highly recommend the terrace in summer. In the evening it gives very charming vibes.

The menu offers an excellent selection of traditional and seasonal dishes, prepared with high-quality ingredients and skill. My partner and I dined at the inn several times during our four-day stay. It was a dream every time! Tender meat, perfectly prepared side dishes with perfectly matched sauces. The freshly tapped beer also went wonderfully with the food. The portions are generous, and the value for money is absolutely fair. A place where you simply feel at home and want to linger longer. You should definitely reserve a table, as the restaurant is always busy. We are already looking forward to our next visit – for us, the Obermaier Restaurant is a true piece of Bavarian joie de vivre!

An excellent restaurant, in my opinion. We ate there three evenings in a row and, even at peak times, waited a maximum of 20 minutes for our food. The service was super friendly, the food was delicious, and the Kaiserschmarrn was especially recommended. We'll be back!

Even though it was Bauma, we still got a place as guests of the hotel as an exception. We had the opportunity to observe the kitchen, which was sensationally fast. The gluten free Wienerschnitzel was good. The Munich schnitzel with fried potatoes was also good. Unfortunately, the gluten-free Kaiserschmarrn was not good at all. The prices were high, so we actually expected not just good but very good. The staff was quite cold and seemed stressed. All in all, it's not bad, but given the price/performance, it's not really recommended.

I don't understand the numerous good reviews either, but the "bad" reviews are very good. In short: the quality of the food feels like it has gotten worse and worse over the last 2 years Service: which service? Ambience: actually a nice Bavarian restaurant. However, after staying for about 2 hours we smelled terribly of "kitchen and grease". Thank God no more appointments. Complete clothing for airing on the terrace. Price/performance is no longer suitable either. There is the Truderinger Wirt not far away. Always friendly, consistently good food and reasonable prices. My recommendation and for me the Obermaier is history.

Food was great. The fries tasted fresh and the meat was tender and delicious, as well as the emmental filling that was melting out of it, making everything even better. Great beer, right temperature and good amount of options. Everything was beautifully served with great presentation. Service was perfect. They speak English perfectly here, so language is not a barrier. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, we had a good conversation. The place is incredible, with decorations and furniture capable of showing a great piece of tradition and history, all with great style. I loved and enjoyed absolutely everything about this place and I would definitely go back and recommend it.

Questo è forse l’unico locale a Monaco dove si possono gustare piatti tipici tedeschi con una grande attenzione al senza glutine. Purtroppo non si trova in centro ed è raggiungibile solo in macchina. Ho potuto provare gli spatzle bianchi con il gulasch e i tipici crauti. Hanno anche del pane senza glutine. Dispongono anche dei famosi kaiserschamerren senza glutine( tempo di attesa minimo di un quarto d’ora). Che dire? Buonissimo!

Well, the price of over €400 for a double room is not reflected. Rooms cold, heaters max lukewarm. Fermented breakfast fruit salad. Eating only possible until 9:30 p.m

This is for sure one of the worst places I have been to in the world. The service was the worlds worst, arrogant, rude and the attitude was terrible. Do not go there!!!!

We ate there with 5 people and had a bill of over €300. Since the service was limited, the tips weren't particularly generous. This started a haggling over the tip and a very unpleasant situation. We were told it had to be at least 10% of the total bill and malicious comments were made so that everyone in the store noticed. Since the food and drinks were already more than expensive and the service described was not good, there was an additional 5 euros. But that should be fine. Then the innkeeper started insulting us and making noise. I've never experienced anything like this before and I think it's the last drawer. When I read through the reviews here, this seems to be common practice among the staff. We will never enter this restaurant again and will leave our money somewhere else. At this point I can recommend the Truderinger Wirtshaus. The staff was very friendly and the food was good.

If the bill is over €300, you have to haggle with the staff about the tip. Food was normal, there were 5 of us and we won't eat anything there twice. That's just cheeky!

I was in this restaurant last week because my sister was visiting from Italy. She suffers from celiac disease and cannot tolerate gluten. We found the restaurant while searching online and it was a pleasant discovery. The menu lists dishes that you can eat without gluten, so choosing was very easy. We really liked the quality of the products, the braised meat and duck were delicious. The staff is very helpful and friendly (they also speak Italian). Even though it was a weekday we booked and I can confirm it was full. I will be happy to come back.

Good, down-to-earth Bavarian food. So far we have never been disappointed. Also highly recommended for people with celiac disease. Almost all dishes are also gluten-free! We really enjoy coming here. The ambience is Bavarian rustic, so it's probably not suitable for every taste. In summer you can make yourself comfortable in the beer garden. The service is (mostly) very attentive and friendly.

I put the inn to the test. We ordered a table for 9 people for Christmas. I clarified in advance whether vegan (!) and gluten-free would be the only option for me. We clarified this very quickly in advance, but it was a bit chaotic on site and I felt very uncomfortable because of it, I was worried that something was being misunderstood or something like that - but after a long back and forth I still got something delicious. My family was otherwise happy with the dishes on the menu and the service so far!☺️ Despite Christmas, the people were very professional and friendly. We will still come again at the next opportunity :) Because it was "just" because - among other things, the staff tried very hard to ensure that I could eat gluten-free! This is how it should be when you outwardly advocate for people with celiac disease. Thank you very much ☺️
