We were guests in the restaurant, i.e., in the hotel's inner courtyard, on the last warm summer evening. We enjoyed the current menu with wine pairing. Homemade bread with two kinds of butter (one with a gentle herb vinaigrette and the other with black garlic) served as a prelude. An amuse-bouche with bacon and black pudding was anything but profane, as it might have sounded when the delicate treat was explained to us. And this alone gave us an inkling of the symphony of delights that was to follow. The home-cured char, the chicken roulade (what a jus!) with chanterelles and truffles, and a raspberry millefeuille with its sorbet exceeded all our expectations. We were accompanied throughout the evening by professional, friendly, and competent service, who always served us the perfect glass of wine to accompany each course. Many thanks to the entire team! A wonderful hotel in the heart of Ihringen, surrounded by vineyards and offering breathtaking views of the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains. The room is spacious and modern, and the staff is very friendly—in short, the perfect setting for exploring this wonderful region.

Perfect wedding day meal, Michelin-star cuisine, and fantastic service This was our fifth time dining at the Goldener Engel under new management within a year. As always, the service was exceptionally professional, attentive, and unobtrusive. The kitchen once again outdid itself. From the appetizers to the amuse-bouches, the main courses, and the dessert (homemade nettle sorbet), everything was delicious, fresh, and perfect. Emma and team: please keep up the good work!

The service is impressive, thanks to a young, friendly team with expertise, combining dishes in new ways – fresh and lovingly decorated, and sensationally delicious. Top-class cuisine with a Baden heart The cuisine here is truly exceptional: creative, modern, yet deeply rooted in the classics. This blend of tradition and excitingly fresh ideas elevates the restaurant to a sophisticated level – every dish was a delight and demonstrated true passion. The ambiance is very appealing both inside and out. Last winter, the interior seemed a bit chilly in places – probably intentionally so, given the minimalist style. However, a touch more warmth, perhaps through plants or small accents, would make the atmosphere even more inviting. The service team is extremely friendly and attentive, and the young manager runs the restaurant with palpable enthusiasm and great skill. You can tell that the work here is done with passion. A fantastic restaurant that is definitely worth a visit – we will definitely be back!

I stayed at the Goldener Engel for one night on a spontaneous short trip and I'm very impressed! It's great to experience this young, dynamic team and see how something very promising is being created, or rather, has already been created! So: Keep it up, Goldener Engel ;-) In brief: - The double room with a balcony was well-designed, spacious, much of it fairly new and a few corners a bit older, but all in all, very harmonious! Unfortunately, it was very warm at night, but that was probably the case everywhere on these hot August days. - The dinner was fantastic, especially considering the price! Great quality of the products, exciting dishes (my favorite: sea bass ceviche!), and a great wine selection with plenty of background information on the different local wines. The wine selection also made a solid, balanced impression on me! It was a bit of a shame that my request to change the dessert was probably forgotten or the information wasn't passed on. Breakfast the next morning was lovely: good baked goods, fresh fruit (some from the garden), homemade jams, decent coffee - all in all, top-notch culinary delights!!! - The service and atmosphere are an absolute plus! Very hospitable, relaxed, flexible, and accommodating! The young and very friendly manager happily took the time to chat with the older ladies at the table; it was no problem to leave the car a little longer in the parking lot in the backyard; she offered practical tips for cycling in the region and the equally fantastic winery right next door. The atmosphere at dinner in the courtyard was very pleasant and relaxed, and the decor also suited the occasion well, in my opinion, and wasn't too fancy or stuffy - but that may be a matter of taste. In any case, you could see that the guests felt at home and thoroughly enjoyed the very high-quality, beautifully presented food in this relaxed, almost family-like atmosphere. I like this approach: thanks to the casual ambiance, the fine dining remains very accessible overall. For me, an all-round great stay and a restaurant/hotel/team that I would happily recommend!

Sitting outside isn't quite as pleasant; it feels rather casual and doesn't do justice to the food served. The service is also extremely attentive and polite, a stark contrast to this kind of camping-table atmosphere. A tablecloth and cloth napkins would be appropriate here. What's served is very delicious and a culinary delight. The wine selection by the glass could be a bit more diverse. A real recommendation!

Despite being located in the heart of Ihringen, the hotel area is nevertheless very quiet. The hotel team is extremely friendly and dedicated. The breakfast meets expectations for the price category. Dear Engel Team, We followed the reopening very closely online. We live in Freiburg and are always looking for new culinary highlights in the area. My rating for you: The food was outstanding both visually and taste-wise. 5/5 stars. You definitely need to adapt the ambiance in the courtyard to the kitchen. The food deserves a better ambiance. Anyone who can cook at such a high level should pay more attention to the table where guests are seated. Please don't use old wine bottles as flower vases, and please don't place cutlery in containers on the table. If I'm going out to eat such good food, I also want a beautifully set table. We spontaneously decided to have dinner at the Hotel Goldener Engel. And we were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was wonderful, the service friendly, and the food excellent.

The hotel was very comfortable and close to the train station. The beds were excellent, as was the breakfast. The large balcony off the room was also a bonus. Highly recommended if you want to visit the Kaiserstuhl and the charming towns surrounding this area. As a guest, you receive a guest card, which allows you to travel by train for free. This makes visiting Freiburg and Basel a comfortable way to get around.

I can't rate the hotel or the rooms, as we only went for dinner. However, the food in the restaurant is highly recommended. The main courses are also wonderful - keep up the good work - quality prevails!

Beautiful newly renovated rooms with large balcony. Tip: provide the rooms with air conditioning due to the increasing heat due to climate change. It is not possible to get a cup of coffee/tea in the hotel during the day, so it is advisable to provide coffee/tea facilities in the rooms.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The reason was that the Ihringer Wine Festival was taking place that weekend. The hotel is located in the center of the village, right on the street where the wine arbors and stands are set up. It was a truly wonderful experience for us. Just as we had imagined.

Under new, young ownership since the end of 2024, the rooms (at least in the guest house at the rear) are completely renovated. We had a deluxe double room (No. 202) with a balcony overlooking the quiet garden. A top-notch room, with an excellent bed and bathroom. Very friendly service, a great breakfast buffet, and a wine fridge in the stairwell – wonderful. We'd be happy to return anytime!

It was our first stay in the Kaiserstuhl region. The privately run hotel boasts a very pleasant atmosphere, the service is impeccable, and we felt very comfortable! The breakfast is plentiful and varied. The restaurant offers a good selection and quality! Some dishes are "star-worthy"! We highly recommend the hotel, the rooms, and the restaurant! Due to a mishap of our own making, the room reservation was a bit complicated. Mr. M. Herrmann from the hotel was very friendly and helped us resolve the problem. He even called us at home from Germany to confirm the ultimately successful and correct reservation. What great service! The room was very clean. The dinner was of excellent quality. The hollandaise sauce served with the asparagus was probably the best sauce I've ever tasted! Breakfast offered everything for a successful start; nothing was lacking. We will happily and confidently continue to book this hotel for our stays in Ihringen. Thanks again to the entire team!

We stopped in spontaneously after a bike ride. The staff were very cheerful and very friendly. The food was excellent and highly recommended. The portions were small, but perfectly adequate for us. The dining room is quite open and a bit noisy when full. That's perhaps the only drawback for us. We would eat there again anytime.

The rooms are beautifully renovated, quietly located in the guesthouse, and we slept well! The breakfast is compact but delicious, and there is a perfectly adequate selection of everything you need. The two of us stayed here for three nights in May. Overall impression: Fantastic!! The renovated rooms were a dream: spacious, stylish, and modern. The beds were so comfortable that we slept very well. The breakfast was modest but absolutely sufficient and very tasty, especially the bread and rolls and the coffee! The food at lunch and dinner was very, very tasty; even a leaf salad tasted particularly fresh and delicious. The asparagus and meat dishes were also simply delicious and special. The staff is particularly friendly, in an unobtrusive way. Totally nice, helpful, and everyone does everything they can. The chef carried our suitcases, and the manager helps out in the garden. The hotel's location is easy to reach. It's quiet; we stayed in the guesthouse at the back; I can't comment on the street. Freiburg, Breisach, and Colmar are quickly reachable; there are restaurants, a creperie, and an ice cream parlor on site.

Es war ein sonniger Nachmittag an dem wir uns entschlossen haben im goldenen Engel ein wenig zu verweilen und ein Mahl zu uns zu nehmen. Beim Lesen der Speisekarte überraschte mich die Beschreibung der einzelnen Gerichte, schon alleine vom Lesen bekam ich Appetit. Die Atmosphäre war ruhig das Personal stets freundlich und zuvorkommend. Einfach toll. Beim eintreffen der Speisen wurde mir warm ums Herz. Ein solch liebevoll zubereitetes Essen, ich habe Fotos hierzu eingestellt, habe ich vorher noch nirgends serviert bekommen. Ein Geschmackserlebnis, die ganze Familie war begeistert . Wie sagte mein kleiner Sohn in die Runde, da hauts der ja den Vogel naus. Einfach nur toll, ein Lob an das gesamte Personal und den Spitzenkoch welcher auch noch ein paar nette Worte mit uns am Tisch teilte.

I was a guest at the hotel and I just loved everything. the room was spotlessly clean, freshly redecorated with a nice balcony in the back yard. Breakfast was tasteful. The people at the reception were more than helpful and ready to help for our convenience. What impressed me most was that they came to clean the room and change towels the next day we arrived. Overall, I would greatly recommend the hotel and its personnel and definitely will visit again.

We have been to the "Golden Angel" several times now and are always impressed by the deliciously prepared food. Plus the very friendly service, we'll definitely be back. It's noticeable here that everyone still enjoys their work. The only small negative point is that the acoustics are a bit loud

Ziemlich spontan wurde uns hier am Wochenende noch ein freier Tisch gegeben, als wir von einer Wanderung einkehren wollten. Wir hatten die Ochsenbäckchen und die Saure Leber, was beides äußerst lecker zubereitet war und uns sehr nett serviert wurde. Das von außen traditionell anmutende Restaurant scheint einen innovativen, sehr guten Koch zu haben. Hierher kehren wir ganz sicher zurück!

We were in Ihringen with a group of 13 adults and 2 children (6) for lunch after a successful escape hike. The food had been pre-ordered and a nice table was set up for us in the open next room. The food came quickly and everyone enjoyed it wonderfully. My Ochsenbäckle were delicious like never before. The service was very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely come back - but with clean shoes. Sorry for the mess we left behind.

Wir waren für ein paar Tage im Engel Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für die Übernachtung mit Frühstück ist sehr gut Die Zimmer sind alle frisch renoviert und sehr sauber Das Personal war an allen 4 Tagen sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend Nun zum Essen: Ich habe schon lange nicht mehr in einem Restaurant ohne Sterne so gut gegessen wie hier. (Und wir waren schon öfter im Sternebeteich essen) Aus unserer Sicht wäre mindestens ein Stern angebracht. Die Speisekarte ist in Punkto Fine-dining versus traditioneller deutscher Küche absolut genial Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!

Wir waren zu zweit an einem Sonntagabend im Goldenen Engel und waren begeistert. Allen voran vom jungen Team. Da waren lauter Vollprofis am Werk, die ihr Handwerk verstehen und dem Gast auf Augenhöhe begegnet sind. Service war dementsprechend ungezwungen, frech im positiven Sinn und dennoch präzise. Der Küchenchef versteht sein Handwerk und liebt seinen Job, das merkt man jedem Gericht an. Amuse Bouche war eine Kürbis Panna Cotta mit Zitronenverbene und hat Lust auf den weiteren Abend gemacht. Ich war danach mit Kalbsconsommé, Rindertatar und Roastbeef sehr Rindslastig unterwegs. Alles sehr fein, auf den Punkt und mit großer Kreativität sowohl in der Tellersprache als auch in der Zubereitung. Meine Frau vorweg mit einer Variation von der Roten Bete, danach Gebratener Zander und zum Schluss Schoko-Tartelette. Auch hier alles top. Kompliment. Das war große Kunst. Die Weinkarte ist sehr gut sortiert. Mit einigen großen Weinen aus dem Kaiserstuhl. Ich hätte als offenen Rotwein gerne noch eine Alternative zu zwei Sorten Pinot Noir gehabt, aber den "Lokalmatador" anzubieten entbehrt ja auch nicht einer gewissen Logik. Somit auch hier absolut sinnig. Alles in allem absolute Empfehlung. Wir kommen wieder.

Ich war skeptisch nach dem ich die Bewertungen hier gelesen habe. Vorallem da ich immer "das Haar in der Suppe" finde. Ich kannn es aber in keiner Weise bestätigen! Wir hatten ein Menü in vegetarischer Variante das spontan für uns gemacht worden ist, mit Wein Begleitung. Solch ein Service, flexible Küche auf diesen Niveau, perfekte Wein Auswahl, das sind wir bisher nur von Sterne Restaurants gewohnt. Besteck wurde mit Handschuh nachgelegt, Service höflich, freundlich, immer da ohne aufdringlich zu sein....Der Gruß aus der Küche und der Nachtisch, höchstes Niveau und Genusserlebnis pur, das essen sehr sehr lecker! Das erste Mal und garantiert nicht das letzte mal. Noch ein wahrer Geheimtipp am Kaiserstuhl!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Angel - Heavenly! We had the pleasure of spending a wonderful evening for two in the Engel restaurant. As vegetarians, we were a bit skeptical at first because the menu didn't offer many options for us at first glance. But the kitchen proved to be extremely flexible and creative - it was no problem to prepare a delicious vegetarian menu for us. We chose two different menus, one of which was accompanied by wine. It was just perfect! The greeting from the kitchen and the dessert were the absolute highlight of the evening for me personally and definitely reached star level! It was our first time at Engel, but definitely not our last. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Many thanks to the entire team for this unforgettable evening!

We were guests in the restaurant with a cheerful and loud group of 30 people. The food and drink selection were great. The staff was bright and very friendly. We only have to make a small deduction for the room acoustics.
