The place itself is cosy and has a warm feeling. Maybe the theme song of ghost busters was a bit out of place but apart from that everything was wonderful. We didn't have an appointment but they managed to squeeze us in anyway and still made us feel very welcome. The food was very good, sizable portions but not over the top. And everything was very tasty! For starters we had salads and soups, for mains we had schnitzel, meat and veggie hamburger, veggie dumplings and pasta. No one was disappointed! Usually in a place someone in a group of five will feel they drew the short end of the stick but here we all walked (rolled) away very happy. On top of that we had a very nice waitress who made us feel very welcome and gave everything just that extra that you want when you go out to eat.

We managed to get a seat on Saturday evening without a reservation. The service was very friendly, and while the food was a bit more expensive, it was also of high quality. For vegetarians, I can recommend the chickpea burger; even without fries, it was very filling and incredibly delicious.

HAVE a RESERVATION! We came the first night on hotel owner's recommendation and had a table on the way to the restrooms. But food was really good and staff pleasant and personable. Made a reservation for the next night for my wife's birthday dinner AND ordered from the order-ahead menu. Eating in the main dinning room was really nice. Food again was terrific and service was great again.

That was the worst pork knuckle ever... it was awful! Even though you had to pre-order! The rinds were rubbery and the meat was simply DRY! The criticism didn't go over well! It's just mass-produced, nothing more! No quality!

A rustic inn with a great interior. The food is good, but could be improved in some areas. The roast onions isn't exactly the highlight; it's heavy meat and the sauce is awful. The Bauernschmauspfanne (farmer's dish), the Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle), and the Kaiserschmarrn (shrimp) are, however, delicious and tasty.

We were unfortunately disappointed. Based on the many good reviews, we came to the inn as a couple. We had made a reservation and were shown to our seats by the owner himself. This was our first disappointment. We were seated in a side room on the first floor, which had very little charm. We had made a reservation well in advance and would have preferred to sit in the parlor or the large hall downstairs. The service was really prompt and very friendly. The meal itself was a disaster by Bavarian standards. The fried potatoes were not crispy at all, more like steamed. The pork schnitzel was very watery, which suggests poor quality meat. The roast pork was cut much too thick, making the meat rather tough. The dumplings themselves had no flavor, lacking any seasoning, but especially salt. The crust on the roast pork was completely tasteless. I hope my criticism will be accepted and passed on to the kitchen.

We've been to this restaurant in Garmisch several times, and last year everything was truly top-notch – the food was excellent, the service attentive, and very child-friendly. Unfortunately, that has changed significantly. The restaurant now resembles a train station concourse, and the atmosphere isn't as cozy as it used to be. The service has also deteriorated considerably: special requests are rarely accommodated; where you used to hear a friendly "Yes, no problem," you now hear more like "No." What disappointed us most, however, was the quality of the food – unfortunately, nothing of the "incredibly delicious" we heard last year has changed. It's a shame, because we used to enjoy coming here, but this was probably the last time.

The food was okay. I was actually really looking forward to a knuckle of pork, but they didn't have it. It's only available by pre-order. It's a shame, I didn't know about it. When I made the online table reservation, I didn't see anything about it on the online menu either!

Formerly five stars, now only three – unfortunately, the decline is significant… the menu is unfortunately not as extensive as it used to be, the food overall is okay, but also expensive. Definitely just below average among Garmisch restaurants, unfortunately not as great as it used to be! Back then, it was a clear five stars… I spoke to an employee on the phone today, and he was absolutely unfriendly and almost rude. I've never experienced that in Garmisch before. A real shame.

I went to this restaurant for a Bavarian experience that was very frustrating. The restaurant was full and the lady at the reception asked me to wait 15 minutes at the counter and never came back. Many people went ahead of me and I ended up eating at the counter; the food was excellent, but the experience was frustrating.

The restarant is very nice inside, the service was very friendly and they speak in english (it is difficult sometimes to find this in Germany). The food was very good, we had some Pork dishes and it was very good. The price is acceptable.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience at the Gasthaus zur Schranne. After the pork knuckle with sauerkraut and the onion roast beef with cheese spaetzle, we vomited the sauerkraut and spaetzle with severe stomach cramps, and also got diarrhea. A completely wasted day of vacation. A real shame. The staff was very friendly. The facilities aren't modern. The restrooms: one of the two women's restrooms was unusable because someone had already done their diarrhea there, and the toilet bowl was covered in brown splatters.

We stopped at the Gasthaus zur Schranne because of the good reviews and were looking forward to a hearty Bavarian meal. Unfortunately, the joy didn't last long, because after the knuckle of pork with sauerkraut (my companion had the onion roast with cheese spaetzle) I got severe stomach pains and vomited up the sauerkraut. I felt so bad that I had to spend the entire next day in bed. My companion had a similar experience: for her, it was the cheese spaetzle that made her vomit with severe stomach cramps. Never again.

Good! Really good. Everything fits together perfectly. A rustic inn, friendly staff, a Bavarian-influenced menu, well-tapped, cold beer, and all at a good price. We've been there several times over the years, and the visit has always been a pleasure.

Soup was fine for a small hunger. You need reservation, but we were lucky and easily enough for a place for 2.

My husband and I were vacationing in Garmisch for a few days. We enjoyed the delicious food at the Gasthaus zur Schranne on two days. The inn has a quaint feel, which I particularly like. The menu isn't too extensive, but there's something for every palate. The pumpkin soup is fantastic, as is the festive soup! I had the roast beef with onions both days because it was so damn good! My husband opted for the pork medallions and the veal schnitzel. Both were delicious! Also highly recommended. For dessert, we had the warm chocolate cake with a liquid center, which was delicious, and the apple strudel. This was a bit weak for our taste compared to the other dishes and the chocolate cake. But as we all know, tastes differ. It was still fresh! We can wholeheartedly recommend the inn for both the service, the ambiance, and the food! When we're back in Garmisch, we'll definitely be back!

On Friday I went again and I was disappointed that they messed up my first order, then they forgot what I had ordered the second time so... A tasteful Bavarian inn, just what a tourist would want. Beautiful traditional decor, although we found the artificial spring flowers a bit out of place in the fall (the florist was very critical). The food we ordered was delicious, very appealing, and presented with a modern twist; highly recommended. The service was prompt, but unfortunately came across as stressed and not particularly welcoming.

I ate here with my girlfriend, and it was a wonderful evening! The service was fabulous, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant, even at the bar. The food (Wiener Schnitzel with fries) was a large portion and very tasty. The selection of dishes and the price are also excellent! Highly recommended; it's best to make a reservation or try your luck at short notice!

We visited the beer garden in September and the weather was perfect. The service was super friendly. The food was so plentiful that you almost couldn't finish it all! I can only recommend eating there to everyone. There's absolutely nothing to complain about. I'd happily go back!

We were there again for dinner on Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant is simply inviting, inviting you to linger and enjoy a delicious meal. The Gasthaus zur Schranne is one of the best breweries in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Very well organized, with fast and friendly service, plenty of seating in several dining rooms, and even a small outdoor beer garden. Reservations are highly recommended, as the Gasthaus zur Schranne is usually fully booked, even during the week. The value for money is excellent, and the draft beer is delicious. There are several vegetarian dishes, such as dumplings with fresh chanterelle mushrooms and cream sauce. The portions are a good size and filling. The pork schnitzel was good, but the fries were a bit too thin and crispy. We ate there three times in total, and it was always great!

Zur Schranne in Garmisch is a wonderful restaurant with a cozy Bavarian atmosphere and excellent food. The duck was outstanding ,perfectly cooked with tender meat and crispy skin, and the schnitzel was just as impressive, golden, crisp, and full of flavor. The combination of authentic dishes, generous portions, and a warm setting made our meal truly enjoyable. Highly recommended when in Garmisch.

You know that feeling? You just want to take everything from the menu, make a choice, and end up disappointed? I think this is the first time in my life that I haven't experienced that here. The TAVER SANDWICH was fantastic, plentiful, and more than fair in price! The friendly, relaxed manner of the entire team, especially Naemi (I hope that's right), rounded off this delight into a thoroughly enjoyable feast. On our second visit, we "unfortunately" realized how IMPORTANT A RESERVATION is; we were already rushed into the evening rush at 5:30 p.m. and had to settle for a seat at the bar. At the end of the day, a stroke of luck; it was even more fun here ;-) Deducting one star for the ambiance is a high-level nitpicking, but the main hall is a small anthill at peak times. It didn't bother us, but perhaps you shouldn't plan a candlelit dinner here. Best regards and see you soon, Robin

A bit out of the way, but the food is very good and the staff is very attentive.

A classic Bavarian restaurant. Very hearty and delicious food. A bit heavy for the North German palate, but it's a real treat. The service is very friendly and prompt. A lovely, relaxed recommendation.

On our way back to Munchen, from a day at Eibsee Lake, we stopped by this place to eat. We served XL Schnitzel with bacon-fried potatoes and Hungarian goulash soup along with some beverages. The food arrived really fast and was tasty. The goulash soup was one of the best I’ve ever had (note that it may be a bit salty for some people).

We visited the Schranne on Friday. Three adults and two children, one of whom has celiac disease. We received a very warm welcome, and the live music was typically Bavarian, entertaining, and well-presented. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful, and they gave us excellent advice regarding gluten-free options. The appetizers, my liver, the roast pork (two of which were gluten-free), and the schnitzel were all deliciously prepared. The fresh beer was delicious. We had a wonderful time and would gladly come back.

Average, but nothing special. I expected more from such a busy restaurant.

I'm unfortunately disappointed; the first impression was very inviting. First: the Schrannenburger - the meat tasted of nothing, lacking any seasoning. The service: friendly, but I would have liked them to check if everything was okay with the food. That's what I've experienced at other restaurants, where they're more on the ball and closer to the guests. And last but not least, the ambiance: we sat outside quite close together, which wasn't really bad, although, smokers will be pleased to know, smoking is allowed here, much to the chagrin of non-smokers. Eating is no longer enjoyable when you're constantly wafting smoke around your nose. What a shame!!!

Simply great in Garmisch, already in the 60s

If you don't eat here, it's your own fault! This was the best meal we had in Garmisch! Great service, simply nothing to complain about.

Not recommended for vegetarians, especially vegans. The vegan burger for €17 consists of a white bun (not even a burger bun), a dry patty, a slice of tomato, and a bit of lettuce. Not enough, not tasty, and far too expensive. Even the non-vegetarians weren't impressed with their schnitzel.

The main course was served after the appetizer (a delicious Obatzter with wonderfully fresh bread) had finished, after we asked. Fine spirits rounded off the evening. We can highly recommend it. Many other guests agree, so be sure to reserve early.

I had expected much more. The fried potatoes weren't tasty; they were only lukewarm, tasted old, and weren't well seasoned. The schnitzel was tasty, though, and the side salad was okay. The potato soup was too spicy. Unfortunately, the radio was playing in the background with commercials. We had hoped for a more Bavarian atmosphere.
