Very quaint restaurant with very tasty food!

The stop is worth it: freshly tapped Augustiner, down-to-earth, delicious food. Unfortunately, points were deducted for the bacon fried potatoes because they were warmed up for too long. Special recommendation, however, is the crispy 1/4 duck - excellent! Very friendly and attentive service. The guest room: Lovingly decorated for Christmas. with a magnificent Christmas tree. We felt very comfortable here and would love to come back!

Went there based on recommendation and good reviews. Very nice service, nice restaurant and decoration, but...... The roast venison was indefinable apart from the color and consistency - that is, it tasted like nothing - unfortunately. Dumplings and Brussels sprouts very firm. Sauce-lack....really a shame for the food.....and the price. Looking forward to it for free.

Had an excellent dinner at Gasthaus zur Schranne this evening. The atmosphere was welcoming and the service was outstanding. Very nice staff and also very friendly and engaging local patrons. The menu was quite extensive, leaving opportunity for plenty of return trips. The food I did have was delicious. I would definitely recommend for anyone in the area looking for a nice spot to finish out a day in Garmisch. Note: recommend making a reservation, which was very easy to do from their website or open table. “PROST”

We ate classic game dishes and were only disappointed! Without cranberries or similar. served, it was not possible to reorder the sauce because it was pre-portioned. The food is served quickly, indicating warmed dishes and the amount of people to handle.

Very nice staff, reserved but also attentive. The food is simply brilliant. Pumpkin cream soup is great Venison goulash topped with a Bavarian cream at the end - simply a poem. It was just beautiful for me.

The pike perch fillet was excellent! Tender, juicy and perfectly prepared. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Food: we had the half duck and cheese spaetzle as well as Obazda with bread. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. Service: typically Bavarian, a super nice waitress who basically knew what we wanted. Very accommodating and great company. Ambiance: a listed building, very nicely and rustically furnished on the inside. Already decorated for Christmas. Clear 5 stars for us, we would be happy to come back at any time.

Onion roast was ok. Onion skin fried, tough and unchewable. No haxn in stock, only to order. Kässpatzen 18.90 is awesome. Prices are higher than the location.

Great spot for lunch in the Garmisch area. They have a couple of large rooms inside with ample seating. If the weather is nice, the outside patio is a perfect spot, even in the warm summers as the building give shade to most of the space. Nice views of the decorated buildings and peeks at the mountains from in between those buildings. The inside is traditionally decorated with old pictures and memorabilia with wood ceilings with exposed beams, and paneled walls. My traditional Bavarian pork was a great lunch. Large slabs of pork, with a sauce and potato dumplings made for a hearty meal. The portions were large enough that we all shared around the table. The Augustiner lager that was recommended was the perfect accompaniment. Wait staff was excellent, getting the order spot on and bringing everything for our table of five out in one trip!

The ambience of the restaurant is appealing, but unfortunately the food was not convincing. Both my dish and that of our table neighbors were served cold. The hot chocolate had a slightly burnt taste, which spoiled the enjoyment. In addition, the portions were disappointingly small. What should be highlighted positively, however, is that the service was very friendly and professional. Overall, the place is nice, but the dining experience left a lot to be desired.

We were guests here yesterday. We made a short-term reservation for 2 people through Homeoage and didn't regret it. Nice Bavarian ambience (there was live music on Friday) and nice waiters who were attentive. For dinner we chose a dish on the special menu + regular food. Roast venison + onion roast. The food was good and fresh. Both pieces of meat were prepared as requested. Portion was very good and prices were reasonable. Will come back if we are here again. THANKS:)

We came without a reservation and got 2 seats straight away. Very friendly and competent service. Old Bavarian economy with a nice atmosphere, great service and the finest food! In the pictures: cheese soup, small side salad and 1/2 farmer's duck. Super good! I can only recommend it! Top inn.

Of all the restaurants we went to in Garmisch, we liked the Gasthaus zur Schranne the best! Very friendly staff! Great food and a menu where everyone is sure to find something 😇 Rustic, beautifully located and with a great ambience. We will definitely come back the next time we visit Garmisch!

Why so many pictures of us? Because we fell in love with this place on the first day of our vacation. And when asked “Where are we going to eat tonight?” the Schranne was always chosen :-) Even without a reservation, a place is always found for you. Great service, delicious food, typical Bavarian atmosphere. Some evenings there is even live music. We are already looking forward to our next visit when we are in Garmisch again.

It was my first time as a guest there and I absolutely loved it! Surprisingly - I was able to briefly enjoy the accompanying live music! The atmosphere, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! Although there was a lot of traffic, the waitresses were very friendly, had everything under control and the food was at the table quickly! The roast pork was VERY GOOD!

Yes, there are still these rustic old Bavarian inns with tradition and the Schranne in Garmisch is one of them with typical regional specialties and of course Augustiner beer. We didn't have a reservation and were greeted in a very friendly manner, the smart ladies and gentlemen in service are very attentive and friendly. We had roast pork with crust, the sauce was very delicious, and Schlutzkrapfen, which were also very, very tasty, and the portion size was very good. We were amused by the Rhinelanders at the next table who had also ordered roast pork and a small beer. There are things...!

Star deduction because we had reserved for 2 and unfortunately this was forgotten. Then we had to sit at a table with other people in the middle of the large hall. It wasn't that great but we were hungry so we stayed. The food was great as was the service at the table. Food and drinks came super quickly and were great.

We were there in transit. We were seated in the large dining area. There was live music, but it was extremely loud. We had 2x schnitzel, 1x with fries, 1x with fried potatoes. They were veal schnitzels at a high price. However, it wasn't a highlight. A bit bland without decorations and cranberries. On request, ketchup was also available free of charge. Drinks and service impeccable. The waitresses were very nice and on point.

We had lunch with 5 people. Never again! The best thing was at least the staff. Everyone ordered schnitzel for dinner. The schnitzels were comparable to shoe soles - and the fried potatoes were partly burnt, or raw. The best thing was the cranberries - but they are yes from a glass.

Compliments to this inn!!! If you're in GAP, definitely stop by the Schranne! It's part of our annual must-do program during our vacation!! It is very, very rare to find an inn like this! Compliments to the landlord and his team and not to forget the chef and his crew! We didn't make a reservation last Thursday, but we had the opportunity to sit in the Schwemme. Thanks again for that! I love the Tyrolean Schlutzkrapfen in Schranne!! Great ! No matter whether it's schnitzel, Schranne burger, fried chicken, not forgetting the excellent goulash! Great inn - Bavarian cozy. The staff is very attentive and super friendly. As soon as we entered the restaurant, our dog was offered treats - something we had never experienced before. Food is very good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant.

came on a friday night. atmosphere was great with live music! I ordered the festtagssuppe and kaiserschmarrn which was very filling altogether. honestly, I don't have much to compare with since it's my first time having any of these dishes, but I really enjoyed it. especially the cheese dumpling and the dessert. waitress with the short hair was very nice and attentive :) + they have an english menu + accept card/cash + make a reservation! place gets packed

If you want authentic, amazing German this is your spot! It's very popular but we got in without a reservation no problem we just had to sit upstairs as all downstairs was for reservations. The best meal in my 2 weeks in Germany was here. I cannot remember the name but it was chopped pork that was so amazing and crispy but the best part was the baked potato covered in a sour cream with herb sauce. I'd go back just for that sauce!!

Pronouncing the name of the restaurant is not easy but I certainly want to recommend. We stayed a few days in Garmisch and went there a couple of times for lunch or dinner and were very satisfied. Great local dishes with warm atmosphere.

Auch wenn sich die Welt verändert, viele Dinge anders werden: Die Freundlichkeit und die Qualität der Küche hier haben Bestand. Egal ob es die Vorsuppe, der frische Salat oder die deftigen Hauptgerichte wie Haxe oder Schweinebraten sind. Es ist immer wieder super. Zartes Fleisch, knackige Kruste, toll abgestimmte Soßen. Dazu sehr netter und aufmerksamer Service. Dafür fahren wir im Urlaub gern mehrfach die 2 Stunden pro Fahrt. Absolute Empfehlung!

This spot has a strict reservation policy, so don’t expect to just walk in and get seated easily. I got lucky enough and managed to snag a table at the bar. The real highlight for me was the homemade apple strudel paired with vanilla ice cream—delicious, with the right balance of sweetness. If you’re a fan of classic desserts, it’s definitely worth trying. Just make sure you reserve ahead.

A classic in GAP with a good selection of food and drinks. Also vegetarian and with a children's menu. Children under 6 get one portion for free. The inn is quaint with friendly staff. The quality of the food is good. Everything is prepared quickly. We had bear garlic dumplings and pork knuckle and were very satisfied.

Both times I went to Gasthaus Zur Schranne, once with a larger party and nice by myself, the staff warmly greeted us and brought us to a table. The time I went with the large group, we were brought into a small dining room as the kitchen was going to close soon (seemingly every other restaurant we passed around 8pm had already closed up). We quickly ordered and the server who was warm and friendly, and spoke English really well, took our order and everyone who received their plate seemed pleased by the dish. From classic Bavarian meaty dishes (roast duck and schnitzel) to fish and vegetarian options, all was delicious. I had the spinach dumplings but got to taste the schnitzel and it was also top notch. The spinach dumplings were tender, yet hearty, and the melted cheese on them gave them an extra layer of richness and pleasant saltiness. The next day, during my solo venture, I had the salmon trout with potatoes and spinach, as I'm trying to eat more healthfully. It was really nicely prepared and the skin was crispy. I started with the beef broth soup with some pancake strips and dumplings and that warmed me up nicely and soothed my sore throat after two days of Oktoberfest did its thing. Augustiner beer on tap is always a great choice. I think we're going back tomorrow. Lol

Food is very good, portions are a bit small for my taste for the price, the ambience is moderately pub-like, which I like. Service was also good, it was very busy so it was a bit stressful but still nice.

Large guest house with 2nd floors. The food was tasty but no longer hot when it was served. Probably because we sat upstairs and waited for it to cool down from the kitchen and be served. There is Augustiner Helles here, very fine.

Everything was fine. We were there twice. The food was really very good, we would have loved to try the whole menu up and down. The service was very friendly, accommodating and relaxed. An inn as you imagine and wish. Full marks.

My third visit to the Schranne and it's getting worse and worse. Save a fourth like we prefer. We were told with two minutes left, then the table was free, we parked at the bar and drinks were taken quite quickly. More than half an hour later the table was actually free. The service was extremely unfriendly, took the food incorrectly (+extras that I had expressly canceled) and after pointing out again that I hadn't ordered, another snippy reaction. The food was plain and below average. This is all about money, not about acquiring customers. No recommendation from me.

We had the pleasure of eating at this wonderful restaurant and loved our entire visit! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, which made the evening even more enjoyable. As a starter we had the beef carpaccio, it was truly a delight. I tried the Wiener Schnitzel and it was to die for - perfectly breaded and fried until golden brown, with a delicious side dish. The duck was also excellently prepared; juicy and tasty, simply a pleasure! The atmosphere of the restaurant also contributed to a great evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back to try more delicacies!

Typical brewery-style restaurant with a beer garden. Bavarian snack dishes until 4 p.m. There is a daily special on the menu. The food is harmonious in terms of price and performance. The staff is courteous and nice. Can definitely be recommended.
