Gasthaus Zur Knödelwerferin - Helmut Kurz in Deggendorf

Was there for the first time today and I'm really disappointed. Based on the good reviews, I expected more. Had cheese spaetzle, small portion for the price and not really my taste. Unfortunately I cannot recommend it.

We had made a reservation for our group with children and ordered the food in advance - uncomplicated: schnitzel and cheese spaetzle. We would have to wait a good hour for the food, the children became impatient, and so did we. Instead of apologizing, the service was unfriendly, almost aggressive, and completely overwhelmed.

As a large group with children, we had made reservations weeks in advance and given all the dishes we wanted. Then we had to wait 60 - 90 minutes for the food (mostly children's schnitzel). There wasn't even an apology, just excuses and the waitress even became unfriendly to us. That doesn't work at all.

Food super tasty. Service was great. I love ambience. That's how it has to be. The only point of criticism is the prices. But everyone has to decide that for themselves.

Great opportunity to have dinner and then explore the city. The staff has always been friendly and nice. The roast pork and sauerkraut were great. The only thing to complain about is the roast pork crust, which wasn't really crispy. What deserves special mention, however, is the wheat beer from the Deggendorfer Brauhaus served here. Tastes great! We were even lucky enough to be able to enjoy live music upstairs, which was really nice. All in all a great Friday evening 😀

Home-style restaurant, similar to the long-established restaurants in Munich. Prices similar and as usual. I decided to 'risk' a Lüngerl with dumplings and was not disappointed. It was tasty! ☺️ Maybe it could have been a little more relaxed. 😉 I would be happy to come back.

Food tasty, portions rather generous. For the price, I think the portions could be larger or the food could be a little cheaper. [My opinion!] The place is very nice and the service is friendly and attentive. All in all, praiseworthy!

We made reservations 2 days before New Year's Eve and actually managed to get a place for 5 people on New Year's Eve. The atmosphere is cozy, the food was very tasty and changes were made despite the large number of guests. 👍🏻 the time window of 2 hours was more than enough.

Unfortunately the dumplings are not that good, also very little taste. The gravy is also tasteless. Schnitzel and fries are okay. The salad is super good!

Unfortunately, not like the reputation that precedes the restaurant. The staff ignores you when you come in. A colleague comes immediately after a while and service staff ignore you. You still get the seats (reserved), but the menu takes a little longer because the really nice colleague is the only one who seems competent enough to do this. The meal was roast pork, careless on the plate, the cabbage fresh from the can wasn't refined and wasn't cooked for long, so no applause for that. It's a shame, the ambience would be great.

3 star rating: The food was good and was served relatively punctually, but unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. After our dishes were cleared at 7:30 p.m., we were completely ignored until 9:30 p.m. - no drinks, no option for dessert, even though we clearly signaled that we still wanted to order. The waitress was often on her cell phone, seemed bored and not attentive, even though the restaurant was not full. In the end we had to shout loudly across the room to even be able to pay. When I politely commented that we would have liked to order something else, the waitress became unfriendly and blamed us. It's a shame, because the food was good - but we won't be coming back here anytime soon. There is potential, but the service urgently needs to be improved.

Sehr schönes Lokal Essen sehr gut Bedienung sehr freundlich Hund war auch willkommen und hat gleich Wasser bekommen Werden zu Pfingsten wieder vorbei schauen wenn wir im bayrischen Wald sind.

Habe die Ente gegessen. War sehr lecker. Preislich ist das ganze okay. Der Knödel könnte bisschen größer sein 🙂. Bedienungen sehr nett 🙂

At an event with food pre-ordered 3 days before, work was slow. Closed company, with the number of pre-ordered portions being served 2 hours after arrival. And still cold. If you can't serve larger closed companies, you should leave it alone.

Service was very attentive and courteous, despite the restaurant being full. The food was also very good. We would love to come back to the Knödelwerferin. Keep it up :)

Food was very good! But! You can tell that all the waiters/waiters have a certain bad mood (stress?), some waiters take it out on the guests and are rude, some waiters didn't seem very friendly (charisma) but at least they tried to be nice and didn't have it on them Guests left out... maybe the (mass) processing plays a role here...? I think that the working atmosphere in general could also be an issue here and it just doesn't seem to be good, but before you're "annoying" you should change your employer. (Ps. You shouldn't be late, people casually say to colleagues that it was "those there" who were already late anyway. It's stupid that we heard it)

Very bad service...70 minutes after arrival we got our first drink!!! Unfortunately the food wasn't much better for the price. It's a shame, I had better memories of the dumpling thrower.

Dieses Lokal kann man getrost weiterempfehlen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung, sehr gutes Essen und der Preis ist auch in Ordnung. Wir werden nächstes Mal wieder hier essen gehen.

I would come again. Great decor and atmosphere in the restaurant. The service was great, nice but also open and talkative people - I think it's great. The only thing I would have expected from the name was a little more and more unusual dumpling dishes. That's why only 4. The dishes themselves were at least 4+

Everything perfect! It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a meal there that didn't have to be seasoned. Friendly, fast and great atmosphere.

Always good, only portions were sometimes larger. Unfortunately, the current pumpkin cream soup is disappointing. Too thin, the broth taste was too strong, you almost couldn't taste the pumpkin at all and the soup was only served lukewarm. Maybe the kitchen was just having a bad day. We always enjoy coming here, also because of the location right on the town square.

Everything just fits here. The service was quick, friendly and attentive (visit on Wednesday, October 30, 2024). And the food... I had the wild lasagna with tomato sauce. Simply a dream. I can't remember the last time I ate so well. Portion size just right. The kitchen is also really fast. My daughter had Bayerwald cream mushrooms with napkin dumplings. Also super tasty. Detto the roast pork that my husband had. All in all, a great inn with gourmet cuisine at more than fair prices.

For our first evening in this region we chose the dumpling thrower. Even without a reservation, a place was found for us. Hearty Bavarian cuisine in a nice atmosphere. The local draft beer is recommended.

The food and ambience of the restaurant were good, but one of the waitresses in the restaurant made faces while serving us while smiling while serving others who looked like people from Germany. Therefore, this behavior of hers seemed somehow racist to me and my colleagues who were with me at the time.

Everything was just right here. Friendly staff, pleasant furnishings, perfect food and, last but not least, a brilliant espresso from the portafilter machine. A wonderful evening in Deggendorf!

The service was extremely friendly and helpful. Since I don't like bread dumplings, I asked for a potato dumpling with the roast pork, which I got without any problem. Everything tasted very good, especially the sauerkraut, not too sour as is usual in other restaurants. I would order this again and again.

Been there twice during the short vacation in Deggendorf. Both Msle very satisfied. Ate very tasty. The service was quick and friendly. The prices ok.

The food is tasty, but the service is very unfriendly. This restaurant is definitely not recommended with children as it is very child-unfriendly. We were there for lunch on September 24th with our little daughter (11 months), who ate a piece of potato. In the end there were three pieces of potato on the floor (plus two fries from the previous ones, which could have been cleaned beforehand). After we had paid and were about to leave, the waitress grumpily cleared the table and loudly complained about "what a scumbag" we were! I've never experienced anything like that in a pub in my life! Especially since, as I said, there were 3 small pieces of potato and it was an 11 month old baby. If you have children, give this restaurant as wide a berth as possible!

We ate here on September 23rd at 7 p.m. for around 65 euros. The food was very good. However, there was no sign of friendliness and niceness from two older waitresses. One of them looked bored over us when we took the order and told us harshly that it wasn't possible to change the dish because there were so many foreigners working in the kitchen and they didn't understand it. The other one snapped at us rudely when we waved her over to pay and didn't immediately call out to her.

We ordered and it worked out great. Very nice restaurant, the service was very nice, drinks and food typical of the region. The sausage salad tasted very good, as did the brawn and the spinach dumplings. We were completely satisfied!

Were there on vacation now, the food was delicious, there is also vegetarian food which is particularly important for me. Had spinach dumplings with tomato sauce and a delicious melon soda. My husband had meatloaf with fried potatoes and a fried egg and a light beer. We were very satisfied.

We didn't have a reservation here, but we got a table when we asked. The food was very good and the prices were okay. Two dumpling dishes were no longer in stock!? The wait staff were both attentive and not unfriendly. But absolutely emotionless, not a smile or a word too many. Why actually, there wasn't that much stress!

Had a spontaneous meal today. Everything was very tasty and we were very satisfied. Pleasant service. Everything was great!!!

The Knödelweferin is a wonderful inn with a range of dishes that make you happy. Just as important as the successful menu is a knowledgeable service that proactively fulfills the guests' wishes based on their experience. Beer advice like the one I experienced today has become very rare. However, it may be important for a guest in a foreign city to have a successful evening. I would like to thank you very much for an extraordinary evening from the starter to the dessert with calm and relaxed service.

The traditional, middle-class atmosphere invites you to enjoy good Bavarian cuisine. In summer you can sit comfortably outside and enjoy the summer. There is a varied daily menu with unusual dishes, but also very good classics. The service is super accommodating!

Roast pork twice and top twice. Portions were absolutely sufficient, the sauerkraut tasted very well and the meat was tender, juicy and with a crispy crust. Perfect 👍

Beautiful Bavarian brewery inn with outdoor dining in the heart of the city of Deggendorf. Food, drinks and service is impeccable. Price/performance ratio is more than reasonable due to the very good cuisine. Very happy again!

The food was OK. Normal portions. The waiter seemed stressed and didn't seem very friendly. Too bad. The beer garden on the market square is very loud.

The insolence that one is forced to submit to in order to use the humble confines of a toilet defies description. First, you are condescendingly demoted to descending three miserable steps into the lower spheres - an act that nips any hint of grandeur in the bud. But the true martyrdom only reveals itself afterwards: an absurd, dizzying pile of no less than 25 steps rises, a seemingly endless incline that forces the inclined guest to climb in the most shameful way. It is an unparalleled affront, an impertinence that cannot be surpassed in its audacity - almost as if going to the toilet was a test that only the most steadfast among us could pass. One can only look down with pity on those who are responsible for this architectural tragedy.

Sehr leckeres Essen was wir guten Gewissens weiter empfehlen können. Sehr leckerer Braten und eine noch leckerere orientalische Ofenkartoffel. Super nette Bedienungen, die einem schnell das bestellte an den Platz bringen. Würde sofort wieder zum Essen vorbei kommen !

The dumpling thrower in Deggendorf is a culinary highlight! The dumpling dishes are excellently prepared and offer a great variety of flavors. We were guests for the first time at the weekend and will definitely come back. Nice atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff and the food was really excellent!

We spontaneously went there for lunch this afternoon. We didn't want to sit outside, so Keller immediately and very friendly offered us a place inside. When we got there we were served very quickly and again in a really friendly manner. We then ordered schnitzel, fries and the house salad. I have to say the food was just amazing. Each one was perfect the way it was. This is how Bavarian cuisine works! We can only recommend the restaurant.

Delicious food, very friendly service, lots of outdoor seating. We went here for dinner after an eventful day. The service was very friendly and attentive and ordering was relatively quick. The food was also delivered reasonably quickly. We ordered cheese spaetzle, meat patties and 2 children's meals. The cheese spaetzle was world class. I found the quantity of the meat patties a bit small and I also experienced the quality of the meat patties differently. With the children's meals everything was perfect again and the little ones really enjoyed it. In terms of quantity, it was also appropriate for the price-performance ratio.

Characteristic Bavarian restaurant. Truly exceptional and abundant dishes in a very nice location. A selection of dishes based on meat, potatoes, dumplings and spatzel. A must stop for anyone in Deggendorf

Ich war überrascht in einem bayrischen Wirtshaus eine so überschaubare Karte zu erhalten. Aber das ist Ansichtssache. Aber dss es um 18:30 keinen Schweinsbraten mehr gab, die Kellnerin mir dann stattdessen den Rostbraten empfahl, ohne zu erwähnen, dass dieser sportliche € 10,- mehr (25,-) kostete, war dann doch nicht mrhr tolerierbar. Umsomehr das Fleisch des Rostbratens zäh war. Der Besuch war ein richtiger Reinfall. Immerhin das Ambiente war sehr schön.

Im Inneren besitzt das Gasthaus Zur Knödelwerferin den wunderbaren urigen und gemütlichen Charme eines Wirtshauses aus lang vergangenen Zeiten. Draußen laden Sonnenschirme und Gartenmöbel zum gemütlichen Verweilen an Sonnentagen. An einem sonnigen und heißen Tag gönne ich mir zum Mittagessen eine Kleinigkeit: Kässpätzle und dazu einen kleinen Salat. Die Kässpätzle sin schmackhaft, die Portion ist auch für einen erwachsenen Mann ausreichend groß. Aber der Salat: Eine der drei Tomatenhälften ist deutlich überlagert. Spätestens beim Schneiden des Nachtschattengewächses hätte die Küchenkraft merken müssen, dass sie Abfall in die Salatschale des Gastes füllt!!! – Ich habe es leider erst im Mund bemerkt – und geschluckt. Die Servicekraft nimmt meine Beschwerde mit einem „ich geb’s in die Küche weiter“ entgegen. Kein „tut mir leid“. Keine Entschuldigung. Ansonsten war der Service nicht schlecht. Aber es gibt in Deggendorf garantiert Lokale, die ich glücklicher verlassen hätte.

When you go to the toilet there are great cartoons and sayings. I liked the cleanliness and nice service.

Very rustic inn, which unfortunately doesn't have a single vegan dish on the menu... but when I asked, the chef prepared my own creation and then made sure afterwards whether it was tasty! Very courteous service! And this dish, based on a baked potato with vegetables in tomato sauce, could be added to the menu as a vegan dish ;)
