We stopped for lunch today with our lovely neighbor. As always, the food was delicious: venison goulash, roulade, and a fish dish—all tasty and plentiful, just typical German cuisine. They even made the red cabbage themselves. The service was friendly and quick, even though it was busy. I can't understand the negative comments, but I suppose there are always people who find something to complain about. In any case, we were very satisfied and will gladly come again.

Delicious home-style cooking with top-notch service – but unfortunately, a smell problem. We ate here after landing at BER Airport, as the restaurant is incredibly convenient, located directly across from IKEA Waltersdorf. What we liked: ✅ The service: The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, even though the place was packed. You feel welcome here. ✅ The food: The venison goulash with red cabbage and dumplings was excellent, and the portion size was just right. ✅ Atmosphere: We sat in the conservatory – very nicely done and pleasantly warm thanks to the patio heaters. What could be improved: ⚠️ The ventilation: This is unfortunately the biggest drawback. Just like during our visit two years ago, our clothes smelled extremely strongly of cooking/grease afterward. You literally smell like a fast-food joint, which is a shame. ⚠️ Potato pancakes: The pancakes tasted good, but unfortunately, they were again very greasy, and the portion of salmon was rather meager. In conclusion: If you're looking for solid, home-style cooking near the airport and don't mind the smell of cooking on your clothes, this is the place for you. Reservations are recommended, as it's often full!

That was awful. Unfortunately, a disappointing visit. The waiter seemed unmotivated from the start and didn't even ask if we wanted anything else to drink. When the food was served, the appetizer plates were still on the table. The main course itself was only mediocre. To top it all off, we were practically ushered out without even the chance for a second helping. Overall, not a pleasant experience – we won't be back.

Near the airport, there's parking. The restaurant is fantastic, but keep in mind that the kitchen is open until 9:00 PM.

Hello everyone, The food was great. Only the side dish was a bit meager for the price. €26.90 for a 200g fresh veal schnitzel (which is about the right size) was very tasty and not dry. However, it came with six croquettes and a little bit of sauce. The restaurant is simply but modernly furnished. However, one server for all the tables is insufficient. Service was reserved but friendly.

I haven't had such a delicious meal in a long time. Everything was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and actually quite affordable. See you again soon!

Highly recommended! The food is excellent, the portions are very generous. You'll definitely be full here. The hosts are extremely friendly, and you feel welcome and valued as a guest. The menu is very down-to-earth, yet with a certain something. They offer an excellent beer from a private brewery in Berlin. We'll be happy to return.

Came for a meal Saturday evening and arrived right after kitchen closed. Despite this, I was still treated incredibly well and given a table. The food was very charming as was the staff. I would absolutely recommend if you are looking for some schnitzel next to the airport!

Super friendly staff and an excellent location near the airport. The only thing that could be improved is the blind on the skylight. Unfortunately, it's inaccessible without a ladder or if you're over 6'1". The food in the restaurant was also very tasty.

Authentic German cuisine, where the chef still knows how to prepare a schnitzel and the service makes guests feel at home. 10 stars extra for that. A return visit is a must for us when we're back at the airport.

We were there for dinner. We sat outside. A beautiful ambiance with a winter garden, gazebo, and lighting, very friendly service, and super delicious food. What more could you want?! The appetizers were delicious. We highly recommend the ragout fin and the solyanka. The main courses are also worth a visit. Here are just two sample pictures of the veal schnitzel with and without mushrooms. The crispy schnitzel, farmer's breakfast, and pork schnitzel with hunter's sauce were also delicious. And if you still have room and an appetite, you should definitely try the delicious brownie with vanilla ice cream or the chocolate pudding. All in all, we were very impressed and well-fed. Thank you for a relaxed and delicious evening.

An interesting location! The schnitzels are truly outstanding. Whether it was the traditional schnitzel or the hamburger style, everything tasted delicious! It's just a shame the beer garden wasn't open on a Friday evening. The winter garden is still nice, though. Centrally located, parking on site, and good value for money!

A lovely restaurant with delicious food. Especially the delicious cheesecake. Unfortunately, the airplanes are a nuisance every now and then. The people there are very nice and friendly. We'd be happy to come back. It seems a bit unassuming, but there's a lot going on. But the name says it all, and without the hedge, you'd see the street and shops, which isn't what you'd want. We'll definitely see each other again; it's also easy to reach by bike.

We received a very friendly welcome. The food was excellent, and there were a variety of homemade lemonades. We had spiced meat, garlic bread, and Solianka (salad). We also had schnitzel with asparagus and vegetable spaetzle. Everything was excellent, and we look forward to seeing you again.

We discovered this little restaurant by chance on the drive home and were absolutely thrilled. The waitress was very lovely and attentive. The beer garden is really cozy and invites you to linger. The food was delicious and the selection is completely sufficient. We can only recommend the restaurant “Zur Hecke” and will be happy to come back when we are nearby.

The restaurant serves excellent food, in my case asparagus with potatoes, schnitzel and hollandaise sauce, and excellent service! The ambience is also very pleasant. Despite the adjacent main street intersection, it is pleasantly quiet!

We went for lunch on a Thursday in January. The house was moderately full. It's easy to park if you don't miss the entrance :-). The service was friendly and accommodating when it came to changing the menu. So everyone got the side dish they wanted. Everyone enjoyed the food, it was plentiful (mostly including a salad plate), and the price was reasonable. The only small downer was the espresso. I would skip that next time. It is German cuisine that can be recommended.

I can't say anything about the rooms, we were there for dinner. But you have to know that it is directly in the approach path just before the runway. We were there quite spontaneously on a Monday evening. When we called they tried very hard to organize a table. Top!!! It was actually completely full at 6:00 p.m. very friendly service. Also great. However, there was only one person in service and therefore a bit slow. But I don't judge that and unfortunately it's almost normal today. The starter salad was there almost immediately after I ordered it. It had obviously been there for a while and had dried out. The food itself was also too quick and certainly just warmed up and really not good. Schnitzel and fried potatoes were extremely fatty. We also had the potatoes with quark. The quark tasted like it came from the prepackaged package and the potatoes were completely tasteless. The price didn't match the quality. BUT: afterwards you could hear schnitzels being made from the kitchen. So something was freshened up. Maybe we were just unlucky, which doesn't make the experience any better. The hut was full, the reviews themselves weren't bad (that's how we got there), so it can't always be as bad as we experienced.

Staff not friendly upon check in at all. I know they were really busy but they didn't think to explain that to get the shower hot you need to turn the tap the opposite way. The bed was uncomfortable - pillow all squishy and mattress felt thin. The sheets didn't smell very clean. The room felt a bit tattered and not taken care of. There was black mould in the shower. It felt less nice than hostels I've stayed in and very overpriced. Wish I'd booked somewhere else.

Gasthaus zur Hecke - TOP address if you want to enjoy German home cooking after landing at BER, because that wasn't available on vacation (and why 😅). I can't say anything about the rooms on offer, but if they're like the food and service, you can't go wrong. It is now standard for us to stop here after our vacation. The pictures of the food say more than 1000 words. ...😋

Very lovely hosts who make all special requests possible! Rooms very clean and a family atmosphere. Good value for money! It's relatively easy to get to the center of Berlin by public transport.

Went there for the night. Bed was uncomfortable and small. The "air conditioning" is an extremely loud fan. And from 6:00 onwards you will be woken up or kept awake every 5 minutes by the noise of the planes. WiFi in the room didn't work. The connection to the center is not very good by public transport. Conclusion: it's ok for a short overnight stay.
