Gasthaus Zum Mohren in Ansbach

Despite the full house, we received a very friendly welcome and even without a reservation we were spontaneously offered a place at a young man's table. The food was very tasty and everything was tip top. Price/performance excellent as it should be. Service staff was super friendly - there was nothing to complain about.

I had the pleasure of eating at Gasthaus zum Mohren in Ansbach and all I can say is it was a wonderful experience! The ambience of the inn is absolutely enchanting - a successful mix of traditional charm and modern comfort, which immediately creates a welcoming atmosphere. The food was simply outstanding! The dishes were not only delicious in terms of taste, but also lovingly and attractively prepared. Every bite was a real highlight and it was obvious that fresh ingredients and great attention to detail are used here. The service was also a dream. The staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating and very quick. You always felt well looked after and warmly welcomed, which made the entire experience even more pleasant. All in all, I can only warmly recommend the Gasthaus zum Mohren in Ansbach – everything is just right here!

One of the best things Ansbach has to offer in summer and nice temperatures. The atmosphere outside is great, inside it's ok (typical inn atmosphere). The food is always delicious, as are the drinks. One star less because both outside and inside, as soon as you want to reorder or no one around has left the bill or stops by - feel free to stop by earlier than 20 minutes, then you can still order something. Apart from that, definitely recommended!

We always enjoyed eating at Mohren. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience today. We had the misfortune of sitting next to a patio door that was constantly being opened by an employee to take things out. Unfortunately, every time she left the door ajar and there was a terrible draft. After we got up 5 times and closed the door ourselves, we finally dared and kindly asked the employee to please close the door completely. Unfortunately it didn't do anything, they just insulted me. Will avoid the restaurant in the future. It's a shame because the food was always very good.

Super friendly staff, food very tasty and plentiful. Ambiance cozy. Highly recommended. Price/performance is right. If I come to Ansbach again, I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

I'm sure there are people who appreciate the place, but I'm rather not one of them. The meat-heavy gravy-loaded food might to an extent be typical for the region, but I simply wouldn't say, even given local preferences, that it is of any particular quality. Also, choices are fairly limited, essentially all sorts of varieties of porc and beef. Service is not necessarily bad, but also not really good in my view, let's say average for German standards. Not a bad place, I'd say, but you really need to be into this kind of thing. Oh, and you'd better not be a vegetarian.

We are eating here right now and we are very happy with everything. Everything is top notch and the service is very fast and there is hardly any waiting time.

Yesterday we had lunch at the Gasthaus zum Mohren for lunch. Even though all the tables were occupied and a large group had ordered before us, our food came very quickly. We both had an onion roast with fries. The steak was super tender and fried to perfection. Super tasty, a pleasure 😍

Nice little inn in the middle of the city. Cozy, friendly and Franconian food with affordable prices. Come again.

Top 👍🏼 wanted a table, without reservations, were then sent one house further, you can get the food there too, Schäufele was a dream, even with two dumplings, the service was very friendly and quick. A spoonful of sauerkraut or red cabbage would have been great, but that's complaining at a high level 😀

Beautiful beer garden and an equally great menu. Attentive waiters who don't lose their calm despite the full beer garden. I had a perfect rump steak with fried chanterelles and fried potatoes for 27.80 euros (August 2024)

Das Gasthaus Zum Mohren befindet sich in der Ansbacher Altstadt (Fußgängerzone). Im Biergarten mit einem schönen alten Baumbestand kann man es sehr gut aushalten und fränkische Küche genießen. Durch Zufall sind wir daran vorbei gelaufen und haben es nicht bereut dort einzukehren. Das Personal ist sehr nett und das Essen war sehr gut.👍

On Friday we ordered takeaway here. We were welcomed very nicely. To sweeten the short waiting time, we ordered something to drink and took a seat in the wonderful beer garden. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. The Schäufele with dumplings is really amazing. We'll be back. Keep it up

The 4.4 stars can only come from fake accounts! After a hard day at work, we just wanted to have a relaxing meal. However, our food was spoiled by very unfriendly and arrogant staff and very long waiting times. How you can sully such a beautiful location. Just without words.

We wanted to go to a beer garden with the family and relax when the weather was nice. But I don't want to subject anyone to what we experienced. The waitresses were very unfriendly right from the start and we had to wait 20 minutes before we could order the drinks. After another 30 minutes the drinks came and after another 1.5 hours the food came. At that point none of us were hungry anymore and the kids just wanted to leave. It took another 20 minutes to pay and the service became increasingly unfriendly. The waitress should really ask himself whether he should think about retraining.

Worst service I have ever experienced. Waited for over an hour for food saying we had to catch our train. The incompetent waitress then became aggressive and immediately said that it was the last time we were here. Absolute madness! It's truly a miracle that you can work like this in service...

The service is very quick. The first beer came quickly and so did the following ones. The schnitzel with potato salad was frozen goods and much too small for the price. Disappointing. Other dishes like the bratwurst and roast pork looked better. Ambience was mixed. Tables are very crowded, but the beer garden is nice.

The food was very tasty, the portions were good. Unfortunately the service wasn't that great. The waitresses are friendly, but they don't even ask you if you want something to drink or dessert... You get your first drink and your food, then there was hardly any service to be seen, unfortunately. The chairs and benches could use some padding.

Cool location for public viewing. However, the service couldn't be worse. Stressed, unfriendly staff. You were treated in a derogatory way. It doesn't work at all.

We were here for dinner and were very satisfied. The service got to us quickly and with a little fun she came quickly too. The portions were typically Franconian, and the senior portions were also very generous. I would eat here again.

Actually one of the popular locations to sit outside in summer. But the staff, the service and the treatment is really a disaster. You will be approached if you sit down at a reserved place at 8 p.m. that had a sign on it that said it was reserved from 1 p.m. As a guest, you would have to assume that it would be clear that reservations would still be made. Then when you try to explain the situation, the boss comes and asks why you would attack his employees. You then want to talk to each other normally, but are only interrupted and treated in a derogatory manner. I think that's a real shame.

Wir haben hier zu viert bei gutem Service ordentlich gegessen. Ein absoluter Reinfall war allerdings der Kartoffelsalat: eiskalt, relativ geschmacklos, seltsame Konsistenz der Kartoffeln - in etwa so, wie man ihn als Convenience-Produkt von Discountern kennt. Da er die Hauptbeilage zum Cordon bleu war, ist mir der Appetit ziemlich vergangen. Ich empfehle, davon die Finger zu lassen.

Very good food at an acceptable price.

The staff is great, and even when things get tight, they find a solution. We were there twice and really loved it. The Schäufele is absolutely perfect, the waiting times are not too long and not too short, and all without stress and hectic despite so many guests - that's rare!

Delicious & rich We were here for lunch on the holiday, but of course we had made a reservation. Despite the large crowds, the service was super friendly and on point! The food came in batches and was also hot, even though we were sitting far outside in the beer garden. Everything was well crafted, very tasty, well seasoned and the portions were quite large for gastro 🤤 we really liked that and we will definitely be back soon 💖

We have rarely eaten such good Schäufele. The meat almost falls off the bone and the sauce is rich and dark. The dumplings are simply perfect and the very friendly service rounds off the visit. Great shop! Thank you and keep it up 👍

Very polite service. The meat was exceptionally good. Beer was tasty and prices were reasonable. The only point of criticism is the tables, which look like school tables

The service staff is in a good mood, but the bottleneck in Mohren is and remains the kitchen... Waiting over an hour for dishes that can be prepared excellently is borderline, especially when you say that you didn't expect such nice weather. Since such waiting times happen quite often - I was in Mohren three times and that hour was actually the shortest waiting time - there is more of a systematic problem. The prices are also decent. Therefore only 3 stars. I don't go to the Moor anymore.

Excellent Schäufele - top beer garden!

Were in Ansbach as volleyball fans of TSV Eisselfing. Short detour to the old town. Here, of course, “Zum Mohren”. A few cellar beers and bratwursts. Everything was good. Nice people, nice atmosphere and cozy. A “must” in Ansbach.

Sehr fein und geschmackvoll, fränkische Küche, freundlicher und aufmerksamer Service, tolle Lage. Der Innenhof ist sehr schön, eigentlich passt alles. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

I can recommend it, very nice staff, the food was also okay, although I would have liked a little more acidity on the sour corners. But a woman from Ansbach next to us explained to me that it tastes different in different regions and in Ansbach it tastes more sweet. But it was worth an experience.

Solides bürgerliches Essen mit guter Qualität. Es gab nichts auszusetzen, alles ok. Aber natürlich kein kulinarisches Highlight, was ich auch gar nicht erwartet hätte. Sondern einfach nur gutes fränkisches Essen. Wieder einmal stört mich an Tripadvisor, dass es kein "gut" gibt. Denn genau dies wäre der richtige Begriff für dieses Lokal. Der Sprung von "sehr gut" ist zu groß und unfair. Aber "sehr gut" war es halt auch nicht unbedingt und so hadere ich wieder mit nur drei Sternen.

The food was very tasty and you were full enough

Very good Franconian food at fair prices. The Schäufele is baked nice and crispy. You can sit well inside and out. The service could sometimes be friendlier, although the working day is certainly long and tiring. But these are only isolated cases after several visits.

Staff is super friendly and was able to work with my wife and I. Would recommend making a reservation to make seating a little easier on the host(s). The dessert was the highlight of the meal for us. 10/10 would recommend the roast pork and potato dumplings.
