I attempted to enjoy an after work beer here with a colleague. She had frequented the restaurant over the years and only had pleasent things to say. As we tried to sit at the empty bar and order a beer, an elderly gentleman looking rather incensed approached us and asked what we were doing. We explained that we would like to have a beer and chat and would happily be on our way. The man only grew angrier and told us that this was impossible and that the restaurant was hosting a private event that evening. We remained calm and asked if there really was no way that we could sit quietly for half an hour. This put him over the edge and he threatened to call the police! Not shaken by his threat, I politely informed him that his rude and over-the-top behavior had lost our business and that we would never be returning. Upon inspection, a very small sign was taped to the outside window from the other direction that we had entered the restaurant. Having legitimately not seen the sign, we were taken back by his aggressive and abhorrent behavior. I can rightly say that I met an echte bayerische Grantler. Not only did he lose our patronage, I have made it a mission of mine to point tourists to other restaurants in the area. I also just learned that he and his wife are closing down the place after 20 some years in operation. Time to leave the stress behind I hope.

5 ist vielleicht zuviel, aber das Küche ist wirklich gut, die kleine Terrasse hat ihren Charme. Der Service mag eigen sein, wir hatten kein Problem (deutlich und etwas lauter sprechen hilft). Wir sind froh kein anderes Gasthaus gewählt zu haben. Auf jeden Fall ein Erlebnis, das wir wiederholen würden mit top Preis-Leistung.

The restaurant is cozy, special and unique. The landlord is an original (can handle hot plates because he plays the double bass), the jazz music in the background was fitting and the small terrace in the courtyard surrounded by greenery is an island of peace where even titmice come. The food is a poem - very tasty, seasoned with fresh herbs. This is my first time in Passau and I immediately found my favorite restaurant. Tip: be sure to reserve. With a lot of luck we got a free table on Saturday evening.

The four of us wanted to spontaneously eat there on Saturday. Since we were a little early, we waited a little longer until they opened. In the meantime, even more people lined up to wait, so there were around 12 of us in total. When the older innkeeper opened the door and saw us, he immediately asked: "How many are you left? It will take at least two hours until you get something to eat." We sat down on the terrace and I wanted to get the menu, then I heard the landlord discussing with the lady from the kitchen about the many guests. Then they turned to me and more or less whistled at me, as we now imagine so many people do. There are only two of them and they don't have any quick-cooking equipment :-) To make things easier for both of them, we (i.e. 4 people) and another table with 4 people decided to leave. It's a shame, because I think the food could be good if you're willing to put up with the innkeeper's annoyance and the waiting time :-)

Cozy, authentic atmosphere and good food

we happened to be there for dinner. Both the food and the atmosphere (really classic Bavarian furnishings, artistic sw photos on the walls, jazz music) were very nice. Only the waiting time for the food was a bit long.

I would say the slightly different inn. The Veltliner soup as a starter was amazing; as soon as it was served, a breeze of cinnamon hit your nose. You can't imagine how it would fit together, but it does. Very very tasty. If you love Gorgonzola, you can't go wrong with the spinach dumplings, as they are filled with the moldy cheese. My friend ate the curry, which was also very, very tasty. We'll definitely be back and then we'll try the onion roast, which we were able to marvel at at the neighboring tables.

Really rustic, very cozy atmosphere, the landlord also has the right music playing in the background. The food is fantastic, the landlord serves himself. Absolutely recommended, you just need to bring some time.

Ein ganz besonderes Lokal in Passau, würde fast sagen, ein Geheimtipp. Von außen eher unscheinbar, vielleicht sogar etwas düster und abweisend (vor allem, wenn tagsüber die Eisenklappen vor den Fenstern sind). Aber das Restaurant hat es in sich: Ein sehr netter, betagterer Wirt (der zu mir sehr freundlich war, ich kann die Kritik in manchen Kommentaren nicht nachvollziehen), eine sympathische Köchin, die alles frisch kocht. Dazu Jazzmusik, Kunst an den Wänden und ein heimeliges Gefühl. Ich hatte die Veltliner Suppe und die Spinatklößchen - beides hat sehr lecker und besonders geschmeckt. Morgen geh ich mit meinem Kind nochmal hin!

Seid nicht so empfindlich. Wirt ist eigen aber originell. Das Essen seiner Frau war das Beste in einer Woche Passau.

Gemütliches Wirtshaus abseits von Touristenströmen mit leckerer frischer Küche, im Betrieb eines Passauer Urgesteins. Auf jeden Fall Zeit mitbringen, es kann auch mal ein Stündchen dauern bis man sein Essen bekommt, dafür schmeckt es dann umso besser. Die Terrasse hinten raus mit "garantiert keinem Donaublick" ist sehr schön zum Sitzen.

Super Gaststätte, richtig realistisch urig guad. Das Essen war sehr gut auch die Nachspeise.

Uralte Gaststätte mit einem etwas verwirrten Wirt. Es gab 3 versch. Gerichte, die uns nicht zusagten. Im Hinterhof 4 Tische zum sitzen ohne Sicht auf irgendwas. Wechselgeld musste man dem Wirt vorrechnen

Tiramisù fatto coi amaretti nulla a che vedere con quello italiano,pizza che penso sia surgelata,lascio due stelle solo per la posizione bellissima centrale.

Nettes Restaurant mit interessanter Speisekarte. Typisch deutsche Gerichte sowie internationales. Nicht viele Gerichte, dafür mit Sicherheit nichts vom Gastro-Service. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis gut, keine Touri-Spelunke.

So so so gutes Essen einfach!! Beste Küche Passaus und gottseidank kein Donaublick :-)

Tolles Essen, man merkt die Liebe zum Produkt. Sehr interessante Speisekarte. Ausgewählte, aber wenige Gerichte von gut-bürgerlich bis mediterran. Ganz nach unserem Geschmack ! Der Schoko-Mandelkuchen war ein Gedicht. Ich bestelle normalerweise keinen Kuchen zum Dessert, aber hier war die Empfehlung des Wirtes ein absolutes Highlight. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Mein Mann und ich (mittleres Alter, normale gutsituierte menschen) wollten abends im urlaub lecker bayerisch essen. Der ältere Herr am Tresen warf uns, noch in jacken in der Tür stehend, ohne Angabe eines Grundes aus dem Lokal. Wie hatten nur gefragt, ob wir etwas zu essen bekommen. Die Antwort war "da ist die tür". Ich bin immer noch fassungslos. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt. Bitte bleiben Sie dort weg. Ich gönne diesem Gastwirt keinerlei Geschäfte mehr. Daneben ist es auch kein gutes Aushängeschild für passau.

Eines der besten Restaurants in Passau. Es wird immer alles frisch zubereitet und das schmeckt man auch. Die Bedienung ist freundlich, auch wenn es manchmal etwas länger dauern kann. Aber das Essen macht es auf jeden Fall wett, ist wirklich kulinarisch jedes Mal ein Highlight!

Jedes Essen ist ein Genuss. Alles ist frisch zubereitet, daher längere Wartezeit. Haben uns mit dem Gast Wirt im Laufe der Zeit gut angefreundet.

Das beste essen in ganz Passau. Weiß nicht wieso manch ein Ignorant eine solch schlechte Bewertung gibt. Das Essen war hervorragend (5*). Kann nur jedem empfehlen hier zu essen. Jedoch sollte man vorher reservieren.

Das Essen war bestens (5*), der Service war zunächst skurril, dann aber doch fragwürdig. Wir haben lange auf die Getränke und danach aufs Essen gewartet. Hätten gerne Getränke zum Essen nachbestellt, das gelang aber erst nach sehr deutlichem Nachfragen. Die Nachspeise wurde vom sich gebrechlich gebärdenden Kellner (er war "überfordert" - bei 5 Tischen) nicht in Auftrag genommen - die Küche hatte demnach um 20:30 zu. Wir sind hungrig gegangen da die Portionen klein waren (aber dem Preis angemessen). Schade, denn die Knödel waren sehr sehr gut. Man möchte hier wohl nicht mehr Engagement zeigen, der Chef (= Service) hält hier wohl ein Liebhaberobjekt am Leben - zu penetrante Jazzmusik inklusive.

El mejor asado de cerdo, pero todo lo que hacen está riquísimo. Los Knödel de espinacas y Gorgonzola son impresionantes. Un diez! Visita obligada en todo viaje a Passau

The first time we walked in, we were turned down as the restaurant was quite full and they do not have enough servers to accommodate everyone. The second time was more quiet, thursday evening. Although it took an hour before our food got served, it was worth the wait. The food was really good. The server, or i would assume he was the owner, was unfortunately not that accommodating.

So ziemlich das beste Essen in ganz Passau. Die Jazzmusik im Hintergrund ist ganz wunderbar. Im Sommer lädt eine schöne Terrasse zum Verweilen ein.

We came for a family dinner and really hope to go back soon. It's right in the middle of the Old City, the atmosphere is cosy and the service friendly, if a little bit slow. But that's to be expected in a place like this, it's a real family establishment. The handwritten menu was charming and had 3 veggie options which was great. The food was much better than I've had in most German restaurants for a long time. I had a gorgeous risotto and my boyfriend Gorgonzola Knödeln which was equally good. Wine, also good. Value - good. Each of us spent around 20€ with two drinks, dinner and cake dessert. Would heartily recommend!
