I've rarely eaten such good head cheese with fried potatoes and plenty of remoulade. Friendly, almost familial atmosphere without any fuss. Also recommended for single diners.

A beautifully and lovingly decorated restaurant with good German cuisine at reasonable prices. The service was very friendly and the dishes were huge and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

No one answered the phone, drove past, and the place was closed due to a private party. Absolutely terrible service. A quick no over the phone could have cleared everything up.

Today, September 28th, at around 5:45 PM, we were very rudely turned away! Never again... There were seats available, and we even asked to sit at the counter. Afterward, the owner even threatened me.

Mega delicious and absolutely friendly service

After a visit to Königstein Fortress, we were looking for a place to have dinner on our way home. We used Maps to find a quaint restaurant in Pirna and came across the Gasthaus zum Anker ⚓. Since it was very warm that day, we found a shady spot and sat in the courtyard. "Well done," said the waitress, as we hadn't made a reservation, but we were seated in the right place. The food is good, home-style German cuisine. For starters, we had a delicious spiced meat, and for the main course, a schnitzel with creamed mushrooms and croquettes. My companion had a steak au four with fries. The service was friendly, the kitchen was on point, and the food was really, really good. If we're in the area again, this will be our first stop for good food.

This is an incredibly great restaurant! Friendly staff, incredibly delicious food, and even from the outside, you can see how lovingly everything is decorated! We absolutely love eating here! Anyone visiting Pirna or hiking in Saxon Switzerland should stop by!

Wow... super unfriendly service. We were waiting at the entrance to ask for a table. The waitress just looked at us briefly, mumbled something, waved her right hand, and disappeared. She didn't even stop. We felt a bit like we were being made fun of. Other guests noticed and just shook their heads. Never again.

We were invited here for a birthday. I don't want to say that there was something fundamentally wrong, but I expect more from a 4.7-star restaurant than rustic, home-style food. I missed the sophistication, especially since the price level gives hope for it. The service is friendly and helpful, but warmth and noticeable hospitality only arise if the guest is able to break the ice - or if you are one of the locals or regular guests. I think people here like to eat “among themselves”. It's not a mistake to come here, but you don't have to. Personally, I would rather go somewhere else with friends.

We can only recommend this restaurant. The service was relaxed, very friendly and attentive. The food was very very tasty! The portions are huge and wonderfully prepared. If we are in Pirna again at some point, we will definitely come by again.

Had a lovely experience. With a combination of hand signals, Google translate and some English we were able to order the most wonderful meals. The atmosphere was great and the waiter was lovely. Would definitely recommend it. One note, bring cash. Not sure if they accept overseas credit cards. We had to pop down the road to the ATM. But it wasn't an issue.

We were there in the fall. When we first asked, everything was occupied and unfortunately we had to leave. So reserve a table, you knew it - you did it. The service was very good. It was full, but when the waitress was at our table, she made us feel like we were the only guests in the house. The chanterelle cream soup was amazing. I have never had a soup so fresh and crunchy. The goulash with dumplings and red cabbage was also made from good, fresh ingredients. We were very satisfied and left more than full. Anyone who wants to eat fresh, tasty and friendly food is in good hands here, at normal inn prices. We would come again.

If you want to eat out in Pirna or just have a convivial evening at the bar, go to this location. When the weather is nice, I recommend the outdoor area in the courtyard, or the "overflow" in the cozy alley. Price level: medium, tip: pay attention to opening times, not open all week!

Wow. I have to admit, not the first choice. 5 other restaurants had no spontaneous space for 8 people. But an honest “we can do it” saved the evening for us. Parking in the immediate vicinity is not easy, but it is normal in the historic center. Although the youngest greeted us with the words: "It doesn't smell nice here" (the smell of lemons), we had super friendly and fast service. Two soups were just the right thing to warm up after the rain and, above all, they were tasty and quick. The four children were not able to use the existing playroom for long because the main dishes were also available quickly. All the dishes were extremely tasty, beautifully and lovingly prepared and there was a lot. In terms of price, 2 main courses, 2 children's meals, 2 starters and 5 large drinks for €76 are also more than ok. Whoever is coming with the leg of ready-made food... we could clearly hear the schnitzel knocking from the kitchen, so it's nothing. I would like to thank the ladies and gentlemen for the opportunity to spend a lovely and delicious evening with my family.

We were passing through Pirna and were looking for an inn with good home cooking and were not disappointed. Very nice terrace and nice inn, service was super nice and fast and the food was just great and the prices were fair.

I had pepper steak for dinner which was very tasty. The service was top and the price was also reasonable. There was nothing to complain about. In addition, the restaurant is a bit away from the market and therefore not so hustle and bustle. So you can eat in a relaxed manner. Great, simply recommended.

We were here in Pirna for a few days and visited several restaurants. On the first evening we were here at the Gasthaus zum Anker. The food was very tasty, the atmosphere is really nice and the staff was attentive and nice. Since it was cool and rainy that evening, we sat inside. Lovingly furnished, but since the place was full it was a bit noisy at times. But we would go here again at any time. When the weather is nice you can also sit outside, which is certainly nice.

We called specifically to get a table for 4 people on Sunday around 6 p.m., it took us just under 30 minutes to get there. We were then told to just come by and there would be something... when we arrived we were told as we walked past that there would be nothing. For the boss, the topic was over and she left us standing... so we didn't come to eat and if it were possible I wouldn't even give this one star for the service!

We ate at Anker three times during our vacation in Pirna. It was just beautiful and an excellent meal. The innkeepers are really nice and very attentive. We would have liked to "adopt" the chef 😁😂 but unfortunately there was nothing we could do... an absolute recommendation from us. 👍

We were here for the first time and were very surprised by this great location. The service and the chef (?) are extremely friendly and special requests were also fulfilled promptly, thank you very much again. It is probably advisable to reserve in advance as it is very busy. The food portions are very generous and the price-performance ratio is great. We'll definitely be back soon. There is also a beautiful beer garden, a little away from the hustle and bustle of the Pirna market.

Small, cozy, rustic inn with delicious food.

We celebrated a birthday here with 20 people. The innkeepers opened their restaurant especially for us from 12 p.m. The tables were nicely prepared and tastefully decorated. The selection on the menu was plentiful and there was something for every taste. The food was freshly prepared, hot and plentiful. Everyone enjoyed it very much. After a short digestive walk, we returned to the restaurant, where the tables were already set for a coffee together. We were allowed to bring our own homemade cakes and pies, which were cut and placed on cake plates and served to us. Coffee was made for us, but cocoa and tea were also on offer, as was sugar, coffee cream and whipped cream. All in all, it was a successful and very nice birthday party with very nice, friendly and courteous hosts. Thank you very much!

Selten so nette und umsichtige Wirtsleut erlebt. Da kann das Essen und das Service nur hervorragend sein und das ganze in einem "urgemütlichen" Lokal. Die größte Überraschung war dass uns der Wirt sogar in einer Menschenmenge am Striezelmarkt wieder erkannte und auf uns zuging. Wir waren so positiv überrascht, dass wir sogar auf das gemeinsame Foto vergaßen. Wir werden Purna und den Anker wieder besuchen! Frohe Weihnachten aus dem Waldviertel/Österreich und alles Gute für 2024!
