Der Stuhlmacher - a classic Westphalian inn in the heart of Münster on Prinzipal Markt. We were there with a larger group, and everyone found a seat. The service is typically Westphalian, friendly, drinks arrive quickly, and you're well looked after. The menu is relatively small, which is actually a good sign. I have to say, I found the food to be okay at best, but solid. However, it's quite expensive. A very positive thing: even when the kitchen is already closed, you can still get a small bite to eat! They make a lot of effort to accommodate their guests. I definitely can't confirm the fact, described in other reviews, that the service isn't so friendly! We felt comfortable! We'd gladly go back.

An absolute disgrace – stay away! We have never had such a disastrous experience in an establishment. The food was simply bland, tasteless, and soulless, worthy of a low-end fast food restaurant, but at unjustifiable prices. No effort, no flavor, no desire to satisfy the customer. And as if that weren't enough, the staff were incredibly rude, even insulting us during the service! Yes, you read that right: insults directed at customers, and for no valid reason at all. It's unacceptable, shameful, and deeply disrespectful. We left shocked, humiliated, and deeply disappointed by this behavior, which has absolutely no place in the restaurant industry. How can such an establishment still welcome the public after such a scandal? We demand that management take responsibility and publicly apologize for such treatment. Never again!

Great restaurant with a rich history. Delicious regional cuisine and good service. Our group was 11 people, and everyone got their food at the same time, which isn't always a given these days.

Good restaurant right in the old town. Make a reservation in advance. Large beer selection. The food was good. Vegetarian dishes were relatively overpriced. Service was very friendly and quick.

With temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius outside, I asked for a glass of water to accompany my cappuccino. I was very rudely told that they don't give away drinks, and I was sent away. I've never before experienced a situation in any café or restaurant in Germany where I didn't receive tap water with my paid order. And on the hottest day of the year, no less!

Never again in the city of the swordless. We've never had such a bad meal. Asparagus was completely oversalted. My fried potatoes were partly raw. The waiter simply seated five strangers at our table without asking, even though there were other tables available.

It's always nice to sit outside and watch Münster. The waiters are great!

Review of the Omelette, Beef and Asparagus Soup: I was pleasantly surprised by the soup with a rather unusual composition - omelette, beef and asparagus. At first glance, the combination seemed strange, but in the end it turned out to be quite harmonious. The beef is soft, well-cooked, the pieces are juicy and not sinewy. The omelette, cut into a neat square, added softness and lightness, which contrasted interestingly with the rich meat broth. The asparagus gave a fresh note and a little crunch, which added texture. The soup turned out to be hearty, but not heavy. The broth is rich, with a moderate amount of spices. The portion is decent, the serving is simple, without frills. This dish is definitely worth trying for those who are not afraid of new flavor combinations. Everything was absolutely fresh. Served within 11 minutes. I highly recommend this restaurant 👍

We celebrated our 50th high school reunion at Stuhlmacher. From contact and coordination to last-minute changes, everything was perfect. We would especially like to highlight our service staff, who made the evening a wonderful experience with professionalism and friendliness. Keep up the good work, and thank you all.

Watch, eat, drink with the best atmosphere

A rustic inn located in the heart of Münster. It's a good idea to reserve a table for lunch and dinner.

Last night, on the recommendation of friends, we went to the locally known "Stuhls" restaurant. Unfortunately, we couldn't reserve a table over the phone, but I was told on the phone to just drop by; there would definitely be something available. Once we got there, the counter sent us "around the corner." "Upstairs" was a slightly shorter, more robust woman who greeted us. When she saw us, we heard a groan, which suggested we weren't the first to arrive without a reservation. After we explained that we'd been told on the phone to just drop by, her response was, "You can see the place is packed." There's a good restaurant called Kiepenkerl just around the corner, she said. We're sure to get a table there. Afterward, she went back to the food elevator, and we left. Very disappointing for Münster's traditional parlor.

Münster classic, in which a spring is given the time it needs to grow

A day in Münster is highly recommended, and then eat delicious asparagus at this Gasthaus. Creamy, (perhaps a bit too much, but tasty) sweet asparagus soup first and then old-fashioned tasty asparagus, with a thick slice of ham and soft, melted cheese. Nice service and a view of the church and monumental buildings.

How delicious was that - I had a very tasty and reasonably priced asparagus ragout during the asparagus season. Plus a tasty cellar beer. Everything was served by a waiter who knew his craft and gave our group first-class service throughout the evening.

We live a little over 100km away from Münster and were in the city for the first time today. After visiting the zoo, Cathedral Square was recommended to us. After a walk we wanted to eat something, so we googled it and this inn convinced us with photos and good reviews. So here we go. After we fought our way through the crowded entrance and found the stairs to the restaurant, when we reached the top a waitress asked us in a not entirely polite tone what she could do for us. Since a group of people were coming towards us and I was taught that you shouldn't shout across rooms, I first made room so that people could pass us. Meanwhile the waitress became more and more annoyed and asked several times what we wanted. At some point when there was space I went to her and said that we (two people) would like to eat something. Then, as if shot from a pistol, in a tone that was more than the previous one, "No, I don't have room for that now, sit down somewhere downstairs or something like that," with a waving hand gesture. Honestly, I'm horrified and the owner should take a look at his service staff. I have rarely experienced such derogatory behavior.

Very cozy and inviting premises with nice decor, relaxing atmosphere, nicely dressed staff and a real brown pub atmosphere. We ordered a couple of beers in their pub and it was all a pretty good and great experience.

As always, we were looking forward to a delicious meal in a nice atmosphere. The freshly tapped beer and the relaxed atmosphere outside were perfect. The meal afterwards in the restaurant was good. Unfortunately the service was poor. If I don't feel like doing this job, I'd better stay at home. So we were left with the feeling that the food was overpriced, because a good and correspondingly expensive meal definitely requires good service. Very unfortunate!!

Unfortunately it wasn't such a nice evening. The employee who served us didn't pay attention or say anything a few times during the next round. When my drink was empty, they just put my glass away without asking if I wanted to order something new. I waited an hour and a half until I could finally order something because he was only on one side of our table and didn't ask us. Since it's pretty loud in the restaurant, I didn't want to shout. Only when the waiter drank two shots at our expense did he become nicer and because there were no other people in the room. To eat; the ox cheeks are very tasty but there is hardly anything on the plate for €33.50. I came hungry and left hungry even though I also had an appetizer and a dessert.

I was worried it might be a tourist trap, but it's not! Excellent food and excellent service. If you want a quieter area, get a table on the second floor.

I had higher expectations from this place. Service wasn't polite at all, for some reason it made us feel really unwelcome and uncomfortable. The place is really nice but service and food ruins everything. We had the beef (Ochsenbäckchen) and the Duck (Ragout Ente). The duck was almost inedible due to the quantity of salt. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

So the atmosphere was to be expected, nice, loud and down to earth so we stayed for dinner. But the dinner was... Bad. The "ganzes eisbein" was not roasted like the ones in the picture online and even in their own Google maps reviews. It was just boiled inedible fat all over the plate. Disgusting.

Wir sassen direkt im Schankraum, mit Gästen an der Theke und an kleinen Tischen. Schönes und im positiven Sinne, uriges Ambiente. Mit freundlichen Kellnern (die auch als solche zu erkennen waren) und einer kleinen aber guten Speise- und Getränkekarte. Unser Essen (Terrine Kartoffelsuppe und Rinderkraftbrühe) kam schnell, war heiß und sehr lecker. Solch gemütliche, individuelle GASThäuser (ohne austauschbares Franchise-Interieur) gab es früher mehrfach in jedem Ort - heute muss man solche Kleinode suchen, leider....

Really top restaurant, it was very full and they still found a table for us. The service was there promptly and we got drinks quickly. Food also came quickly and was really tasty… My colleague and I had Wiener Schnitzel and that was really good. Price-wise, but not exactly cheap.

The Stuhlmacher restaurant is an institution in Münster. THE man from Münster goes to “STULZ” on special days (lovingly said). There is also counter service there (important in my opinion). Various beers on tap. Cozy atmosphere. Service friendly. Depending on the season, there is, among other things, kale with sausage (also Kasseler). The price for this is around €19.50 (or around €23.00). The food was very tasty. Everyone can make the appropriate price assessment for themselves. The menu, as well as the daily menu, offers something for every palate. It's just a shame that the restaurant (which has a special position on the Principal Market) is closed on Sundays. Apparently you can afford (but not Münster) not to be available to guests in such a prominent location.

Home-style restaurant, classic Westphalian cuisine. I was lucky enough to get a table.

We were in Münster over the weekend and, after an extremely interesting tour of the city, followed the recommendation of a local and stopped at the Stuhlmacher. We were hungry and quickly got a table in this quaint restaurant. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, our waitress in particular was cheerful and was full of good humor and fun at work. From the extensive menu we chose greaves with bread for €5.60 as a starter, a Westphalian potato soup for €9, a salad with chicken breast strips for €18.50 and the Westphalian Krüstchen (schnitzel) with fried egg and fried potatoes for €21.90 . I also had the lard, which somehow tasted almost nothing like lard. Can you thin or stretch lard? Maybe with butter? It doesn't matter, it wasn't a hit. The potato soup was just as tasteless as the soup the night before in the “Großer Kiepenkerl”. My schnitzel was very fatty and went very well with the fried potatoes, to which - for whatever reason - they had added a spoonful of raw bacon cubes. You may have forgotten them while frying. The fried egg was great. I can't say anything about the salad, I haven't tried it. No dessert was chosen. Conclusion: Price/performance doesn't seem to be an issue in Münster. Some of the below-average food is sold at horrendous prices. If we come to Münster again, we won't stop at the Stuhlmacher. Sorry. Three stars because of the friendly service.

Great ambience in the heart of Münster, delicious food and beer! The waiters don't take their jobs seriously. When you raise your arm you are waved at and if you don't look closely at the bill, a few beers are either simply slapped on top or even doubled. This has happened several times now!

Food (schnitzel) was tasteless and looked like hospital food. Waiter was quite good, mainly older guests present. As for beer, it was very tasty.

We only had something to drink there. We sat outside at the tables in the sun and enjoyed two beers. That was delicious and beautiful! However, as vegetarians we wouldn't necessarily go there to eat as the selection is very limited.
