Gasthaus Morgenröte in Mannheim

I called the Gasthaus Morgenröte today, July 24, 2025, to reserve a table outside for one person. I was told that the outside area was closed. Since dogs aren't allowed inside, I asked if there was any possibility of getting a table outside. After speaking with the manager, I was given the OK to sit outside, but I was supposed to place my order inside. When I arrived at the restaurant, 90% of the outside area was occupied. I was surprised because the outside area was supposed to be closed. The waiting staff were obviously totally overwhelmed by the new situation. The restaurant mostly employs school and university students anyway, and definitely not qualified staff, that's my impression. The waiter came to the next table twice and I asked if I could order something. She looked quickly in my direction and my question was ignored. I've been coming to the restaurant for 10 years, but I've never experienced anything like today.

Zarte Rippchen, größer als anderswo, tolle Schnitzel aus der Pfanne oder gutes Rumpsteak, ich bin nie angegangen. Auch preislich habe ich im Vergleich zu gleichartigen Gasthäusern nichts auszusetzen Immer wieder gerne

I had dinner at Morgenröte Schlachtplatte again today. Over the last few years I have been driving to this restaurant from Leimen to enjoy the food. It still tastes very good, I don't care about the ambience and the service. My criticism is that anyone who charges 19 euros for a platter is grossly overpriced and has problems with reality. In the same restaurant I pay 18.80 euros for a cordon bleu with a side dish. I won't eat there anymore because it's way too expensive.

We were there at lunchtime on the weekend without a reservation. Perhaps that's why the food took a little longer. But the wait was worth it; I enjoyed a really good Cordon Bleu, and Dad also really enjoyed the leftover spaetzle with cream sauce for his Bobbelschä 💪. Excellent value for money for the quality of the food 👍

Nach mehr als 10 Jahren habe ich mit Freunden das Gasthaus Morgenröte besucht. Das Ambiente selbst hat sich meiner Wahrnehmung nach nicht groß verändert, allerdings merkt man, dass sich auch hier das Angebot- und Preisgefüge deutlich verändert hat. Die Schnitzelkarte war im Vergleich zu früher sehr reduziert, die georderte Wurstsuppe entpuppte sich als zerhackte Leberknödelsuppe. Wir alle aßen Schnitzel, aber die Begeisterung hielt sich in Grenzen. Pommes und Kroketten waren mutmaßlich Convenience-Produkte. Das Essen ist nicht unbedingt schlecht, aber auf die Frage, ob man in absehbarer Zeit wieder vorbeikommen wolle, muss zumindest ich das verneinen. Man darf das bitte nicht falsch verstehen, das Gasthaus ist bodenständig urig und man erhält gutbürgerliche Küche auf durchschnittlichem Niveau. Allerdings war die Qualität einmal deutlich besser, gerade in Bezug auf das heute allgemein gültige Preisniveau. Der Service war nett, aber nicht unbedingt schnell.

The menu in the restaurant differs from the menu on the homepage, much smaller selection than stated. The quality of the food is very good, but as a grown man I wasn't full. The waitresses weren't very attentive and the friendliness could still be improved, but that was probably due to the predominantly older audience.

The food was good. We all enjoyed it. However, we were placed in the winter garden without heating when the temperatures were below zero. My wish to get a table inside was not granted, despite there being free tables. Then the heating was turned on. Nevertheless, it remained really cold. We then ended our meeting early and preferred to go home to the warmth. We were guests here quite often. We've often been there to eat goose with other friends. But that got me thinking today. I had already ordered a table a week ago.

Wenn man sehr gute Hausmannskost und auch Spezialitäten gerne möchte, sollte man hier vorbeikommen. Man kann sich aus der hauseigenen Metzgerei noch viele Köstlichkeiten mitnehmen. Bestellung für einen Tisch wäre vorteilhaft.

We tried the St. Martin's goose at Gasthaus Morgenröte today, and it was simply outstanding! From the taste to the preparation to the service, everything was perfect. The quality of the food and the attention to detail are truly exceptional. As we left the restaurant, we briefly met the owner – an extremely personable and genuine person who made the experience even more special. An absolute insider tip for lovers of German cuisine. We'll definitely be back!

A restaurant that opened in 1964 and still looks just as quaint. Great and very tasty food. The meat is from our own production. There is also delicious fish here. The evening was a complete success. We'd love to come back

Yesterday at noon I was at Dawn for dinner. Reservation was necessary. I can highly recommend this restaurant. The schnitzel was excellent, the fries were also nice and crispy, the side salad was fresh and colorfully mixed. The service was very friendly and quick, even though there was a lot to do at lunchtime. All in all, a restaurant that you will enjoy visiting again and again.

The Gasthaus Morgenröte is a nice restaurant with a large beer garden. The food was very good and the quantity was okay. But waiting for the food was not okay. Over 1 hour we almost left. Unfortunately the service is not good either, the ladies are overwhelmed and insulted when you say something. We noticed that there wasn't much service, what's it like when the 🍺 beer garden is open? We're thinking about coming back.

I had dinner there with old work colleagues, everyone was very happy with their dish, one of the best schnitzels I have ever eaten. I will definitely come again and try the rump steak. That's why the 5* 🫶🏻

The restaurant is a disappointment. The same boring schnitzel menu as everywhere else, not a single roast dish and the service is busy with itself. I left after 30 minutes of pointless waiting at the table. Thanks for nothing!

Were here today. Everyone had the beef fillets and various appetizers. Personally, I have to give it 5* just because of the food. The service was good. The ambience is ok, but it's secondary for me, I don't live there, but ideally I want to eat well. And that was definitely the case today. Service and food was really very good. We were sitting at a round table that had a small step/step. I fell from it when I got up and didn't think about it, but there are no indications of a careful step or anything like that. Unfortunately, I hit my thigh really hard when I fell and the waitress asked if everything was OK and added that a lot of people had already fallen there, which didn't cheer me up very much.

Am Mittwoch mal wieder zum Schlachtfest vor Ort gewesen. Fazit: Die Qualität lässt spürbar nach und die Preise ziehen an. Seit Monaten muss man für die früher kostenlose Wurstsuppe bezahlen (€ 3.50). Das Rippchen gab es auch schon mal besser, ebenso der Kartoffelbrei. Die mitgenommen Frikadellen waren mit Fett und Knorpel durchzogen. Ebenso die Bratwürste. Wahrscheinlich werkelt dort ein neuer Metzger!? Schade!!!

However, the drastically reduced opening times are obviously compensated for by grossly inflated prices. Side salad costs extra. A little more sauce costs extra. Each slice of bread costs €1 extra. Absolutely disgraceful. Too bad.

Visit on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the evening from 5:00 p.m The Morgenröte inn is located in the 'Gartenstadt' district of Mannheim, which is part of the 'Waldhof' district. This is considered the greenest district in Mannheim. The street 'Speckweg' there is well-frequented in terms of traffic - the bus line '50' of the Mannheim public transport (VRN) also runs there. The next bus stop is called 'Täher Wille'. This inn with home-style German cuisine has been family-owned since 1965 and cooks traditionally, just as it did 50 years ago. Dieser zählt als der grünste Stadtteil Mannheims. Die dortige Straße 'Speckweg' ist verkehrstechnisch gut frequentiert - auch die Buslinie '50' des ÖPNV Mannheim (VRN) verkehrt dort. Die nächste Bushaltestelle nennt sich 'Zäher Wille'. Seit 1965 besteht dieses Gasthaus mit gutbürgerlicher deutscher Küche im Familienbesitz, in welchem traditionell gekocht wird, wie vor 50 Jahren. Kartenzahlung wird vor Ort nicht akzeptiert > dies wird auch auf der HP transparent dem Gast vermittelt. Vorab habe ich im Gasthaus angerufen und einen Tisch reserviert. Angekommen vor Ort, wurden wir begrüßt und unsere Sitzplätze waren im klimatisierten Nebenraum. Hier ist uns im Laufe leider aufgefallen, dass zahlreiche Fliegen im Raum unterwegs waren und unseren Besuch dadurch gestört haben, da es doch einige waren, die im Nebenraum umherflogen. Das Klimagerät welches an der Decke angebracht war, gehört aus unserer Sicht einmal grundlegend gereinigt, da man hier deutliche Spuren der Zeit gesehen hat. Unsere Reklamation wurde aufgenommen und laut Aussage der Servicekraft, "wäre dies verschuldet gewesen, da wir die erste Bestellung an diesem Abend für die Küche gewesen seihen" -- trotzdem muss die Servicekraft nach dem Gast sehen und sich hier mit der Küche entsprechend absprechen und das Essen ggf. später an den Tisch bringen. > der Feldsalat war u.a. nicht richtig geputzt, da Wurzelende mit im Salat vermischt war - hier muss man besser darauf schauen! > mein Gericht mit der Meerrettichsoße, hätte geschmacklich etwas intensiver sein können, bzw. die Servicekraft könnte hier nachfragen, ob noch etwas mehr Meerrettich benötigt wird - gerade dies macht dieses Gericht aus. > der elektrische Handtrockner auf der Toilette gehört einmal innerlich gereinigt, da man hier deutliche Unsauberkeiten erkennen konnte und diese nicht den ersten Tag dort sind, genauso wie die angesprochene Lüftung. ********** Grundsätzlich macht das Gasthaus Morgenröte einen ansprechenden Eindruck, allerdings im Innern sieht man, die verschiedenen Abnutzungen und wenn dies ein Gast sieht, was wirklich unschön ist, dann will man dort auch nicht länger seine Zeit verbringen. Schade, aber wir können aufgrund der Mängel die Morgenröte nur bedingt empfehlen.

Family restaurant with good German home cooking.

We haven't been there for a long time, last time the schnitzels were increased by 2 euros, we had to wait over 90 minutes for the food. We were just at the front of the line when the daily meal, for example sauerbraten, increased from 12.90 to 18.90. A quick look at the menu: Schnitzel increased again by 3 euros, from 14.90 to 17.90. These are reasons to no longer appear as a guest at Dawn.

I like coming to the slaughter festival and enjoying fresh well meat with a special seasoning.

A solid restaurant that offers a slaughterhouse once a week. The menu is more traditional also the furnishings of the restaurant. The food is perfect and fresh but the service was extremely friendly. Worth highlighting is the sausage counter, where you can take home-made sausage specialties. However, the fact that you cannot pay with an EC card or credit card is no longer entirely up-to-date. But that's traditional too :)

I had dinner there last weekend. Really very tasty and well attended. Prices range from €16.17 to €25.26. But it tastes good. They also sell different sausage variations separately, such as canned sausage. I got it there during the week and it tasted great too.

Everything was great, the food was short, I was here for the first time but 1 point deducted for the toilet door! You lock it from the inside, the lock is locked, and suddenly another woman can open the door from the outside! Well, in the middle of the room right opposite the counter! According to reviews, I'm not the only one!

No card payment, no visitors. Only the tax office is happy, not the guest. That's no longer possible these days.

Good day, I recently went to this restaurant with my family and unfortunately had a bad experience. The problem started with the amount of food. Apart from the fact that the price for the Bolognese was not particularly cheap, what was worse was the quantity of the Bolognese itself, which was very little (I would like to say that I have been served in enough restaurants to know what is appropriate depending on the food). What was worse was the situation that followed: We called the staff about the problem, and he/she ran to the boss. He/she came back with the (apparently already established) statement that the portions are normal... In a rather rude and firm tone. In summary, we don't feel comfortable in this restaurant. The saying “guest is king” doesn’t apply here!

Lange Wartezeit auf das Essen und Getränke! Unfreundliches Personal! Habe ihnen eine zweite Chance gegeben. Leider wieder total angegangen! Man hat mir bei der Reservierung nicht gesagt das es nur eine kleine Karte am zweiten Weihnachtstag gibt. Dazu richtig gut Preise! Die Bedienung nicht gerade freundlich! Haben nur was getrunken! Die Krönung war das die Bedienung beim kassieren zu wenig Wechselgeld rausgegeben hat. Für mich war das letzte mal das ich dort rein gegangen bin.

Die Morgenröte halt. Eine Institution. Gasthaus und Metzgerei. Die Gans war vorzüglich, die Bedienung aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir hatten einen Tisch für sechs ausgewachsene Männer bestellt, aber verfügbar war nur ein Vierer. Offenbar nix zu machen. Das Aufeinandersitzen schmälerte das Essvergnügen - und kostet einen Stern.

essen war gut, auch der service passte. so nett wie es dort ist, aber der geräuschpegel ist enorm hoch, wenn das lokal gut besucht ist.

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit sehr gutem Fleisch. Das Rumpsteak war hervorragend und war genau nach meinem Geschmack. Der Service war gut bis sehr gut. Leider ist in der Gastronomie zur Zeit schwierig, was Personal angeht und kann verstehen wenn mal was untergeht. Auch sollten die Gäste dafür mal Verständnis erbringen. Deshalb von mir die volle Punktzahl und ein großen Dank an alle Mitarbeiter der Morgenröte.

Die Morgenröte gehört zu meinen Stammlokalen, da es bei mir im die Ecke ist. Das Essen schmeckt immer Klasse, besonders mittwochs zum Schlachttag gehen wir gerne hin, aber auch die Schnitzel schmecken immer super. Guter Wein und der Willi mit Frucht im Glas laden uns immer zum verweilen ein. Auch der flotte und aufmerksame Service ist top. Schade, dass man nur bar zahlen kann.

Top Service und Restaurant. Bekannt für ihre Deutsche Küche mussten wir es mal Testen. Und wir 3 sind total begeistert. Die Vorspeise mit Garnelen war gut und der Spargeln war der Hammer. Die Lende und der Rinderspiess waren auch ziemlich lecker. Wir kommen nun öfters hier hin um zu Essen.

Die Küche ist zuverlässig gut und preislich ok: ein sehr großer gemischter Salat, alles frisch, gutes Dressing (die Peperoni könnten auch weg bleiben) für unter 11 eur, ein Schweineschnitzel Wiener Art (gutes Fleisch, recht groß) mit tollen Bratkartoffeln keine 13 EUR Bedienung ist sehr nett (ich nehme an die Töchter springen hier ein) und flott. Manchmal kaum ein Platz zu bekommen - vorher anrufen lohnt!
