Near the Heilbronn Park and Zoo youth hostel lies the restaurant "Der Alte Wirt" with its spacious, cozy rooms. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu is clearly structured and offers both a daily specials menu and an evening menu. Dishes can be ordered in two portion sizes – ideal for larger or smaller appetites. The food is of good quality, and the prices are fair and reasonable.

I absolutely do not recommend the accommodation, for that kind of money one would expect something better and not mold on the walls near the windows, the windows do not seal so that every morning there was a pool of water under them. Under the beds they had not been swept for a very long time, the walls have also outlived their usefulness, the doors are peeling... something disgusting. I do not recommend.

Disclaimer - Racist Venue My friend and I have travelled to more than 30 countries, and never have we felt as humiliated as we did here. We walked in excited to enjoy a Bavarian meal, but instead we were completely ignored while other guests were served immediately. Standing there, waiting, hoping someone would acknowledge us — it genuinely hurt. It made us feel invisible, unwelcome, and completely out of place. No traveller, no person, should ever be made to feel like that. This experience ruined our evening and left a painful memory of Munich. I truly hope the management understands how deeply this affects people and ensures no guest is ever treated this way again.

I was here yesterday evening, and was racially discriminated by the service staff as they never came to serve us, inspite of us being seated for 25 mins. We did try to wave and call for them politely, but they acted all busy. What made it worse was all the white people who came after us got served and were gen half way done with the pint when we figured out what was going. Hope there is action take on the 3 waiters from last night (15/11/2025)

We were at the Gasthaus Alter Wirt today, in the beer garden at the back. It was sunny, and our 2.5-year-old daughter was enjoying the small playground – perfect for eating outside, we thought. The waiter looked at us and simply told us to go inside, as there was no room outside. Odd, because there were several free tables and it wasn't crowded. Our daughter was just about to sit down at an empty table when we had to explain to her that it was "not allowed." She was, of course, disappointed. We decided to at least eat inside, and my wife calmly asked if we could perhaps stay outside – after all, more tables were becoming available. The waiter turned around, looked at her, and shouted in a tone that was simply disrespectful: "NO, NO SEATS!" And this despite the fact that there were several free tables on the left side – according to the sign, the area where table service is provided. So I'm not even talking about the right side. Even other guests who were leaving told us to sit down; they also found the behavior strange. After such an unfriendly, arrogant manner, we honestly had no desire to spend another cent there. Very unprofessional and disrespectful treatment of guests—especially families. Anyone who speaks to people like that should perhaps reconsider whether the hospitality industry is the right profession for them. It's a shame, the place would have been lovely.

Delicious food, excellent value for money! It's definitely worth coming back from Baden-Württemberg to Bavaria. A big thank you for the wonderful atmosphere – we'll gladly come again!

Too bad the Weißwurst lunch special is only available until mid-morning. Otherwise, it's €3 more expensive.

Yesterday, six of us, along with our little dog, spontaneously stopped by the Alten Wirt for lunch. Although the restaurant was very busy, we received prompt and friendly service. The food was delicious and good value for money. We'd be happy to come back.

Great stop to have a meal and beer about 15- 20 min drive from city centre. We bought only 3 meals for a family of four and lucky because they were massive. Price was around 18 each euro which i think was reasonable and the quality was fantastic. Atmosphere was also fun, busy but not anxious with a local ban play folk music. Very good first german pub experience.

Extremely unfriendly waiter in the beer garden. After waiting for half an hour without a chance to order (we felt like we were being deliberately overlooked), we left. It's a shame—I remembered the place as being much better.

Last night, my wife and I had dinner at the Gasthaus Alter Wirt. We both enjoyed simple food. I had a deliciously prepared sausage salad, and my wife had fried potatoes with a fried egg and salad. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and presented. The portion sizes were above average. Our waiter, who we learned was of Croatian origin, was very friendly and attentive. We will remain loyal to the Gasthaus Alter Wirt and eat there again on our next visit to Munich!

There's still such a thing: an honest, down-to-earth Munich restaurant where retirees can still play cards (or are allowed to). Good food, a large, varied menu, friendly service, and a lovely, shady outdoor area. Always happy to return.

We only stopped in the beer garden for dinner. The seating outside is quite comfortable, but hard, on the classic chairs. The waiter only spoke the bare minimum, and then only when asked. Must be the Bavarian charm. The food itself was rather average; the meat was cooked well despite our request for medium, and the sauce had a hint of gravy powder. Well, at least it wasn't cheap. Munich, after all.

The price/performance ratio is right. Very hospitable. We'll be back.

The food arrived quickly. Our two dishes (Tiroler G'röstl with roast beef, potato dumpling G'röstl with vegetables and egg) were a great combination with some salad. Happy hour from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. onward, each liter of beer is €8.90. 🍺

We went there for dinner yesterday with seven people, and we ate and drank. Unfortunately, the waiter apparently didn't listen to us properly when we ordered and brought us eight main courses. When we asked if eight main courses made sense for seven people, he simply told us that we had ordered that... When we were paying, he suddenly said that the schnitzel would cost €20, even though we all wanted the €15.90 schnitzel from the daily special. When we asked him again, he replied that he had brought us the large schnitzel, which is why it cost €20... which makes me wonder again: why isn't this asked when ordering?! Just like the additional main course... All in all, a very disappointing performance by the waiter. Next time, we will deliberately sit at a table where he isn't serving!

We were visiting Munich from beautiful Hamburg for a few days and stayed at the Gasthaus zum Alten Wirt – and what can we say? Simply fantastic! We received a very warm welcome as soon as we arrived – we were offered something to drink and asked how the trip was. Such a friendly start just makes you feel good right away. Our room was incredibly cozy and clean – we immediately felt at home. And even when we spontaneously wanted to add another night, it wasn't a problem at all – we could even stay in the same room. The food at the inn was also truly delicious, and the service was consistently warm and attentive. You can tell that the work here is done with love. In summary: A fantastic place with a truly feel-good factor. Good food, super friendly service, and comfortable rooms – we would come back anytime!

The location is good, as it's easy to get to the subway and the Isar River. Service is mediocre, as you have to wait a relatively long time. The food is OK. I can't comment on the rooms, as we only ate there.

Typical Bavarian restaurant with equally typical regional dishes, garden with adjacent small children's play area, fast service although not friendly and welcoming. The menu is also in English, the dishes are abundant but not particularly well-finished and served with an excessive amount of French fries. Everything is average but does not invite a return.

The schnitzel was ok but charging €25 for it and an extra €1.50 for the fried potatoes, which were then half burnt, is pretty cheeky.

Referring to the beer garden: slow and unfriendly service. We won't be back.

Went to the beer garden today with a friend. Everyone had a Swiss sausage salad and various drinks. So far, so good. Our waiter then left and took the money. The new waiter then brought everyone another drink: wine and beer. Then he didn't come back to our table. We would have liked to have paid the bill. My wife approached him three times and I twice. I have to say, it wasn't busy. You'd have to look far and wide to find such a scoundrel as a waiter. The way this man behaved was absolutely outrageous. We put the money on the table and left. We've been there many times, but won't go again, and neither will our companion. We definitely won't recommend the place to anyone.

We were there for dinner today after our visit to the zoo. We had roast beef with onions, fried potatoes, and pork medallions in a Champion cream sauce with spaetzle. The roast beef was cooked to perfection. The onions were homemade. The spaetzle was also homemade. The service was very attentive. The food was excellent. The dining room was cozy. We'll definitely be back.

Both were delicious, and since the restaurant was very busy due to a nearby event, they seated me at a nearby table and helped me have a very pleasant conversation. We stayed 2 nights in view of the start of the RandoImperator by bike, from the nearby park. Small but clean, basic rooms. We had bikes and they put us on the 3rd floor without a lift and it was inconvenient to carry them up and down. Excellent restaurant service in the outdoor area, we always had lunch and dinner there, everything very good and super abundant. Excellent location also for the center, reachable from the Metro a few dozen meters away or by bike in 5 km of cycle path

The beer garden is super rustic and right in the center of Thalkirchen an der Isar, really great for a relaxing summer evening!

Typical tavern: furnishings as expected, service came after a long wait. The food came quickly, but the taste was mediocre. Vegetarian choices? Hardly available - but surprisingly expensive for a few vegetables. Overall, more like a 3, trending towards a 4.

Have had dinner here several times. Both inside the Stube and also outside in the Biertuin. The service is good, the lady who works there does a very good and hard job and I would like to thank her for her good service. The food is ok. Tasty and generous portions. It is very nice to sit outside in the Biertuin on a nice evening.

We went to the beer garden at Easter on the recommendation of a friend and were pleasantly surprised. Typical Bavarian tavern cuisine with decent portions at reasonable prices. For snack we had the Weißwurst and the Stockwurst, which we ate for the first time. We personally liked the Stockwurst very much. It's a shame that it isn't offered more often in Munich. Later the roast pancake and the cream mushrooms were ordered and these dishes were also good. The highlight of this day was our friendly waiter Thomas!!!

Large rooms in a slightly old building, downstairs there is a restaurant, a typical Bavarian pub. Small shower with curtain. Spartan hotel in a quiet area. Convenient to the metro. Free parking. Everything is managed by the restaurant staff who don't have much time to dedicate to hotel guests.

Decent rooms, the food is very good and plentiful, price performance is top in every respect, the staff is always friendly and quick with the orders, large beer garden, lunch menu and daily specials and a good selection from the menu.

If Google didn't rate the hotel but rather the restaurant, the reviews would be significantly worse. I was here several years before Corona, the food was great back then, but unfortunately now after Corona it is almost inedible. Every ready meal from an aluminum bowl or can tastes worlds better.

We were here for dinner. A snack plate is something different for us Munich residents. The roast pork was a thick slice. In our opinion, sausage, ham and cheese were packaged - not fresh from the butcher. The Obatzde tasted like plastic. And there is NO ciabatta on a snack plate! The salt/pepper shakers haven't seen a cleaning cloth in a long time and my glass has definitely been cleaner too. I don't want to go here again.
