Gasthaus Alter Wirt in München

We stayed 2 nights in view of the start of the RandoImperator by bike, from the nearby park. Small but clean, basic rooms. We had bikes and they put us on the 3rd floor without a lift and it was inconvenient to carry them up and down. Excellent restaurant service in the outdoor area, we always had lunch and dinner there, everything very good and super abundant. Excellent location also for the center, reachable from the Metro a few dozen meters away or by bike in 5 km of cycle path

We went there for dinner after visiting the zoo. Very nice, shady beer garden. Food is great, portions are large and absolutely sufficient. Price performance fits perfectly. Service was on point and also very nice. We'd love to come back when we're nearby.

The beer garden is super rustic and right in the center of Thalkirchen an der Isar, really great for a relaxing summer evening!

Typical tavern: furnishings as expected, service came after a long wait. The food came quickly, but the taste was mediocre. Vegetarian choices? Hardly available - but surprisingly expensive for a few vegetables. Overall, more like a 3, trending towards a 4.

Have had dinner here several times. Both inside the Stube and also outside in the Biertuin. The service is good, the lady who works there does a very good and hard job and I would like to thank her for her good service. The food is ok. Tasty and generous portions. It is very nice to sit outside in the Biertuin on a nice evening.

We went to the beer garden at Easter on the recommendation of a friend and were pleasantly surprised. Typical Bavarian tavern cuisine with decent portions at reasonable prices. For snack we had the Weißwurst and the Stockwurst, which we ate for the first time. We personally liked the Stockwurst very much. It's a shame that it isn't offered more often in Munich. Later the roast pancake and the cream mushrooms were ordered and these dishes were also good. The highlight of this day was our friendly waiter Thomas!!!

The food didn't taste good. I discovered the remains of a sponge cloth in the salad. The food was simple and relatively expensive.

Large rooms in a slightly old building, downstairs there is a restaurant, a typical Bavarian pub. Small shower with curtain. Spartan hotel in a quiet area. Convenient to the metro. Free parking. Everything is managed by the restaurant staff who don't have much time to dedicate to hotel guests.

We used the restaurant part. The food is quite delicious and large portions. The employees are very polite and friendly. I would like to come again ✨☺️

If Google didn't rate the hotel but rather the restaurant, the reviews would be significantly worse. I was here several years before Corona, the food was great back then, but unfortunately now after Corona it is almost inedible. Every ready meal from an aluminum bowl or can tastes worlds better.

We had our dinner here, the food was quite large portioned and very delicious. They were very polite, our food came quickly. If we happen to be here, it's definitely a place we'll stop by. We loved it!

Decent rooms, the food is very good and plentiful, price performance is top in every respect, the staff is always friendly and quick with the orders, large beer garden, lunch menu and daily specials and a good selection from the menu.

We were here for dinner. A snack plate is something different for us Munich residents. The roast pork was a thick slice. In our opinion, sausage, ham and cheese were packaged - not fresh from the butcher. The Obatzde tasted like plastic. And there is NO ciabatta on a snack plate! The salt/pepper shakers haven't seen a cleaning cloth in a long time and my glass has definitely been cleaner too. I don't want to go here again.

A rustic Bavarian restaurant with a good menu and drinks list. The food is in the €20 range, with daily discounted offers for €15 (in the evenings). The service is very fast. The fact that the restaurant was packed during the week is a testament to its popularity beyond our small group of regulars.

We were only here for a small snack. The restaurant is quite dated, but has a very nice terrace, which can definitely be a highlight in summer, and traditional home cooking. I can definitely recommend it.

Rooms are spacious but need renovation. Bathroom door frame is completely broken and wet about 20cm from the bottom. There was always noise in the house at night.

Traditional Bavarian Guesthouse which serves Bavarian food. Location was strategically close to the U-Bahn Station and Tierpark. Food was very delicious, not too salty. Taste was perfect.

Great service, but subpar breakfast! I was in this restaurant for the second time today and had breakfast at a regulars' table there. First of all, I have to say that the service was really great, our waiter, a young Italian, was really very friendly, attentive and accommodating - but I found the breakfast to be terribly bad - I ordered the "Thalkirchner Breakfast" for €14.90 and have rarely been served such inferior quality in a restaurant. All the ingredients were the cheapest discounter products, the jam was an oversweet, indefinable lump, the salami and ham were just cheap sausage, the salami was very light with cheap fat, and didn't really taste like salami, the "bread basket" only consisted of a few slices of a baked ciabatta, the boiled egg was ok, but also with an extremely thin shell... I had dinner there last Saturday (schnitzel with fried potatoes and mixed salad) because a friend of mine likes to go there because she can take her dog with her to the restaurant. So far it was okay, even if it wasn't really good, but breakfast today really hit the spot. By the way, drinks are extra, they are not included in breakfast, I paid €4.90 for an orange juice spritzer. I'll definitely never have breakfast there again, at least I won't order breakfast again, I'd rather just have a buttered pretzel and an egg...! Addition: I keep reading here that people had such great food here??... well, I don't really know, but I imagine great food to be something different than canteen-level food, although the portions are larger 😃 (although of course I prefer something smaller and of better quality, especially since the prices have recently increased significantly) but perhaps the requirements are simply different, I mean, there are also people who like it at Mc D.🤷🏻‍♀️😃

We were here for Christmas dinner with our team. Unfortunately, service in the restaurant with a large group was completely overwhelmed. Dishes swapped, forgotten, drinks forgotten... I've eaten better quality food. The portions are very large. In general, a lot of food goes back. The ambience is like a typical Bavarian tavern.

Review about the food only: I have to start first with the cheese spaetzle, which is phenomenal. I almost didn't manage to pack the large portion myself, even though I'm a good eater. The quality of the beer was very good and the prices for a beer were very reasonable. For the ham noodles I was expecting cream sauce and ham, but they were noodles with ham and egg, which is actually not my cup of tea, but here they were well seasoned and tasted good. The noodles were mixed varieties. All in all, I would love to come back.

The Kaiserschmarrn is the best! It was super delicious! You have to try it! We were guests in the restaurant. The restaurant is decorated in a rustic Bavarian style. The menu offers a wide range of different dishes. Vegetarian options are also available. The veggie burger, the goulash soup and the schnitzel tasted good. !Suggestion for improvement: Fries should be served hot. Then they are nice and crispy and delicious! The service was always friendly. The price-performance ratio was right.

Extremely high price, at least three times the market price, also when paying the actual prices are increased by 15% with the excuse that there is no change (even if you try to pay by card the prices are increased, total scam) In addition, the ATM card activated for the international VISA area does not work.

Attractive atmosphere, not too crowded seats and well furnished. Very friendly, attentive and fast service. Good menu, food good too. Plus a delicious beer. Football was playing casually but unobtrusively on a screen. It was a nice evening.

The food was great and the beer was plenty. They didn't had a free table except on a perfectly fine tablem. Also the waiter didn't understood that we wanted to tip.

After our excursion/visit to the Hellabrunn Zoo, around 60 people were there to eat in the garden. The pre-ordered food was served very quickly after the drinks were distributed👍👍. Good, large portion, nice and very good service. Top

Back in Munich after 29 years and of course I had to go straight to the local restaurant from back then. The food was very tasty and the portions were more than generous. I can't say anything about the rooms.

The food tasted good, although the salmon was oversalted! The waitress informed us that in Germany the cutlery is placed differently when you have finished eating. And here in Germany racism is punishable. We have been living in Germany for 25 years I've never experienced anything like that.

Were here as hotel guests for two nights.... The beer garden is really great and the service guys are really top. Especially “Ore”, our waiter, was always on the ball and super nice. We have to say that the hotel is really bad... The rooms are extremely old... the TV doesn't work... the bathroom is a horror... the shelf above the sink is broken... the window is moldy. The mini sink is right in front of the toilet and then in the roof niche. The mini shower with a curtain that sticks to your body is really disgusting. No toilet brush. Breakfast only starts at 9 a.m. because no one is there beforehand. Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy breakfast because we always had to go earlier. So really not recommended.

Actually everything you need. Simple, clean, central and nice staff. Hotel is fine. The restaurant is very popular and well attended due to the quality and taste of the food. The only small catch is the service staff. One or two waiters are quick and attentive, while another prefers to chatter more and wait for them. (There's a black sheep everywhere.) For breakfast we had the top service again and it was a beautiful Sunday morning, because breakfast was also really tasty and good.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. For €110 per night excluding breakfast — every youth hostel is more comfortable. It is unspeakably loud, the helipad at the hospital next door is in deafening operation all day until 10 p.m. and the cheap windows of the hotel rattle. The furnishings in the rooms are a disgrace, everything shakes, is broken and everything, really everything, is of the worst possible and cheapest quality. It smells like smoke everywhere and there is no decent light or curtains. If I could give 0 stars, I would give 0 stars. It's really just crazy...

Delicious Bavarian food… Gladly and again at any time

The room was adequately equipped, unfortunately in the direction of the church, which fortunately also keeps you quiet. Unfortunately, the bathroom has seen better days, but you have everything you need for a short stay. Check-in is in the associated dining room, which is not immediately apparent. Parking spaces are on site. The next subway stop and shopping center can be reached in just a few minutes.

Food was great. In the end I wanted a light one, but since it took 25 minutes for someone to come by the table, I preferred to ask for the bill. It's a shame, it spoiled the overall impression.

The room was much larger and cleaner than we expected. Free parking in the city is also very nice. The staff were friendly. In particular, the serving staff at the restaurant are very friendly and all service is excellent. The food is plentiful and delicious for a fair price! All three were cooked gently and the cheese went well with them. Leftover food is also carefully packaged. There is a nice garden and children's playground. We will visit again.

Very good Bavarian cuisine with a good standard selection, additional weekly menu and changing lunch dishes. There are also a handful of vegetarian dishes. Prices are okay. When the weather is good, the beer garden is highly recommended, which even has a small playground for families.

We live there and we come to the old landlord regularly. He has a beautiful beer garden. A brass band always plays on Mondays. The food is very tasty and the beer tastes wonderful. The service is always top notch. We can only recommend everyone to go here.

The prices have risen quite a bit again, where else can I actually get one or two dishes in the surrounding area that are much cheaper and of similar quality. It has to be said that depending on how good the cook is, the food tastes different, sometimes more good, sometimes less (BUT THAT SHOWS FRESHNESS). But otherwise a nice atmosphere and always helpful service staff. (It depends on who you have as a waiter). I can't say anything about the rooms as I only come over now and then to eat.

Went there for dinner with a group. Good and attentive service, every table received their food at the same time. Solid pub cuisine with very large portions. If you haven't stood in the excavation pit all day, you can choose from many dishes in small portions.

We went to the Biergarten, very pleasant, the children loved the playground, their spaetzle is really great! Just like the cordon bleu... It was so worth it! We will be back! :)

This place is always busy, serving big portions of good food. Nice to eat at the tables outside in the summer when any kids can enjoy the playground.

It actually looked like a nice restaurant and didn't seem particularly busy. We had already gotten a first impression of the service when the menus didn't come and we had to get them ourselves. The drinks arrived over half an hour after ordering. Another hour passed before the food we ordered at the same time arrived. Since we had something else to do that evening, we didn't even dare to order another drink. The prices are guaranteed to be fair and the food is generous. You just need to bring a lot of time and patience here. In any case, my expectations of a successful dinner could not be satisfied here.

Well suited for a short stay. Clean, functionally furnished rooms. Bed was comfortable and we slept well despite the church being opposite. Breakfast is possible from 9 a.m. There are 4 variants on the menu. The Thalkirchner breakfast was very rich and can also be shared. You can quickly get to the city center by subway, but the surrounding area on the Isar and the canal is also very beautiful and invites you to explore.

First something positive... ...the property offers a parking lot with 14 spaces that can be used free of charge. There is a beer garden with a playground. The restaurant is rustic and cozy and the food was completely fine. The staff is nice and makes an effort. BUT... ...the focus is clearly on the bar, the rooms are neglected. There is no separate reception, instead you try to clarify everything over the counter between the freshly tapped beers. I was traveling on business and had to pay for the room in advance on site. Instead of an invoice, they could only issue me an entertainment receipt... ...fortunately my company is very unproblematic in this regard. To check out you simply leave the key in the room door. I've never slept so badly in a hotel, the mattress was completely worn out. Room is uncomfortable and not particularly clean. Privacy screen in the bathroom is made from scraps of foil.

The food was tasty, but the service was very rude on all three visits.
