I had a badisch weizen hefetrüb vom Fass and loved it!

We actually just wanted something to drink. The next table got up and went in with the card in his hand and gestured violently. I think he's waiting longer than us for a cellar lady. Shortly afterwards a cellar lady came along who seemed a bit listless. 🙄😬. The prices were of course completely exaggerated, but if you sit at the cathedral and have a drink. Then it's your own fault 🤣. The staff didn't cut a good figure throughout. But I found the atmosphere very appealing. I can't rate the food. So you have to consider how important one or the other is.

Not recommended: Meat was very tender, but Rösti was poor convenience food and vegetables were completely overcooked. It's a shame... especially given the price.

The menu said that you get a free dessert with every main course. Unfortunately, this clue was very hidden and not easy to find. This resulted in the food being way overpriced for the quantity and quality - almost twice as expensive as normal. In addition, the food was dry and sometimes much too thin. I expected more and will definitely not come here again. The taste of the food was OK.

I had an excellent experience at the restaurant. The service was agile and attentive, and communication was also possible in Spanish and English. In addition, the menus are in several languages. We had dinner outside and the meat was pretty dry but good service and location was enough to compensate.

I sat in front of the restaurant and the ambience is very nice. However, I have to say that for the prices I expect a clean area and good service. It took some time before I was served and I drew attention to myself. I had a pork schnitzel with fried potatoes. When I asked if I could get gravy, the waiter replied that it was ordered. I was taken aback for a moment because he kept walking. I replied that I would like some gravy. She was brought in a short time later without any further attention. At the table next to us, people complained that the fried potatoes were cold and the food was very salty. All in all, I can't recommend this location.

Eine sehr unfreundliche Bedienung, die nicht richtig erklärt hat, was Kuchen und Dessert ist bzw was im Angebot ist/ was nicht. Ich wollte das Angebot Kaffee und Kuchen der Saison für 8,90 bestellen, musste aber letztendlich 3,90 für Kaffee und 12,90 (!!?) für Apfelküchle für 12,90 bezahlen, weil, als ich fragte ob ich meine Bestellung ändern kann, sagte die Dame, dass die Bestellung schon im Ofen wäre... Mikrowelle meinte sie wohl, denn die Panade der Äpfel war ganz weich. Kaffee und Cappuccino waren ausserdem sehr dünn/ wässrig.

The restaurant itself is ok but the people who work there are really incompetent.We were having a great time that day until we arrived at the restaurant to eat.We’ve waited without exaggeration 30 min until someone asked us what we want to drink.We’ve asked a couple of times the waiter if we can order something and he answered “Yes,I’ll be right there with you “ and another 10-15 min passed.I’am definitely not coming back.

Ser unfriendly service and long waiting times

Très bien situé au pied de la Cathédrale, ce restaurant typique allemand offre une cuisine de qualité. Les prix sont touristiques mais comme partout dans le quartier. La bière locale est excellente, le personnel courtois. N'hésitez pas a demander la carte traduite en français.

The beer is great here. Nice choice. Drinks are on the expensive side but that is all over Germany. Having said this there is a pizzeria round the corner selling the same beer for 1 euro less. The staff in Ganter are really helpful. The girls gave us an English version of the menu…. Please print the kid’s menu in English too. You can also put it on your website nowadays instead of printing it. Great service. This place is magical at night too.

The food is nothing that you won't find anywhere, but the views of the cathedral are almost unbeatable and what I would highlight most is the attention from the waiters, the best I have received in a long time. Therefore, food equal to the competition, perfect views and impeccable service... you have my recommendation.

Hello, four of us came to eat. The table was dirty, and when we asked for it to be cleaned the waitress gave us – literally – a very bad look. Very unprofessional. If the waiters are reading this review, a piece of advice: clean the table with kindness and without stress because it is the least you can ask of a bar. Regarding the food, everything was very fair for the price. The knuckle had some not very pleasant potato balls. The beef steaks didn't taste like anything, not even with the sauce. All quite expensive. If you can go somewhere else, try it. You'll be happy. It's hard for me to give negative reviews but here they haven't met the minimums. I hope you can improve.

Had a wiener schitsel yesterday, a dry piece of meat with some potatoes, no sauce, no salad and dated €31 for asking....we'll just walk past that next time, there are better places in Freiburg, the staff was also a disaster.

Rarely have I had such a bad meal in Freiburg. Service poorly organized

When you come to Freiburg you have to come here to eat, period. Update 2024: unfortunately after covid prices have skyrocketed. An average 50cl €6.50 ???? Crazy! Better to move to the nearby streets, where the same beer costs €1.30-1.50 less. In fact, the people of Friborg don't go there anymore, only tourists.

Sloppy, tasteless and overpriced food. Not worth the money.

The food wasn't good. You can expect better, especially for the price. I had the Schäufele for around €23. Three slices of half-cold Kassler came to the table. The chanterelle soup was also bad, tasted like ready-made food and was simply not appetizing. The ox meat with horseradish sauce didn't taste good. And that at a price of around €30. 3 thin slices of meat, a sauce that barely tasted like horseradish, and finished potatoes with no taste. All in all, the stay wasn't worth it. The restaurant is extremely expensive and the quality is below average. Better go to another restaurant in town.

Very tasty food (Maultäschle) in a truly fantastic setting. The service was friendly and the food was brought out after a short time. The price-performance ratio is definitely right here and you can easily get a seat here even on a sunny Friday evening.

Service friendly. Nicely located right next to the cathedral. Unfortunately, completely overpriced food of poor quality. Had cheese spaetzle (well..., cheese smeared on the edge of the plate, the smallest blob of onions, taste wise 3-) and Maultaschen (both veggie and with meat, which were fried to death and completely dry). That was nothing :(

Mooi restaurant aan het marktplein met een gemoedelijke terras naast de kerk.Heerlijk Duits eten voor een normale preis, ik ben 2 x teruggekomen voor de Schweinehaxe, de zuurkoolsalade is ook heerlijk en de bieren zijn ook allemaal de moeite waard. Bediening is attent en vriendelijk maar aan het einde van de avond loopt het wat raar omdat niet iedereen borden mag afruimen of afrekenen. Voor de rest niks dan hulde…

Welcoming staff and dressed in the tradition, excellent traditional dishes, terrace next to the magnificent cathedral

Good location, unfortunately the dishes are very clear. Prices aligned with the neighboring restaurants. 4 pieces of meat, 3x3 cm, 10 boiled potatoes and salad well... red Pete from the jar plus two pieces of onion on top, no not a whole slice of onion, two strips! Parsley...was also getting old. It's a shame, especially at wine festival time, you could expect more!

Anlässlich unseres Trainingslagers in Freiburg besuchten wir dieses Restaurant. Das Essen war ganz okay. Jedoch haben wir selten ein so gestresstes Servicepersonal erlebt. Auch die Freundlichkeit ist deutlich ausbaufähig. Ein typisches Touristenrestaurant im Zentrum.

At Münsterplatz you already have a large selection of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the view. Today, with the nice weather, we went to the Ganter brewery bar and it was really worth every cent. We sat there as a group for several hours and I personally have never been served as well as I was by the dark-skinned lady here at the Ganter. We were immediately greeted with a warm smile and never had to wait long for our orders and were given competent and friendly advice on every question. As far as service is concerned, it really wouldn't be possible to imagine better service. It was worth the visit for the service alone! The name may be misleading, but there is not only a large selection of Ganther beers straight from the barrel, but also really large and hearty portions of a variety of local German cuisine, which are definitely worth a visit. I can only repeat that the visit was really worth every cent

Out door dining right under the church tower is amazing, even better with great food. We split a veal schnitzel (small to share), but orser tow excelent salads, a beet and a mixed. Proved to be perfect choices and combination.

Price-quality is extremely out of proportion. Not recommended.

The chef was probably in love here... because the food was unfortunately very salty 😅 even the dessert had a lot of salt, which was really too much of a good thing. Nevertheless, we had a nice evening here and the service was friendly

The restaurant is prominently located at Freiburg Cathedral. Service is very friendly. The beer tastes delicious. The quality of the food left something to be desired: the fried potatoes were cold. Everything else was tasty though. Very expensive. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right. I certainly won't come here again.

We always enjoyed eating here, but unfortunately the service and quality of the food has declined. Long waiting times and the roast pork for 2 of us was tough and fatty, you couldn't chew the crust at all. There was no response at all to our notice.

Schlechtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Haben Schäufele und Sauerbraten bestellt, beide waren nur lauwarm und fade im Geschmack. Jeweils kam die falsche Beilage. Dafür sehr hoher Preis. The Salatteller was simply a plate full of green leaves, nothing else, for 18 €. The käsespatzle had almost no cheese... disappointing!

Charged over 10 euros for two poorly made coffees, then gave the wrong change for a 20 euro note. Ended up paying more than 15 euros for two coffees that weren't even petrol station standard. Felt deliberate from the waiter, inexcusable. Plenty of better places in this lovely city.

Attention anti-disabled, overpriced, poor service, below average food! We were denied an empty glass for a disabled person despite multiple requests and explanations. Simply outrageous. The service was discriminatory, didn't take our order correctly, brought the wrong drinks and the food was absolutely subpar! Unfortunately, even the beautiful view of the cathedral cannot save us. Absolutely no recommendation!

Great beer choices and easy. More expensive since it is on the Münster, but that shouldn't deter you unless you plan on going directly to the braueri or a pub that serves Gunter vom fass.

The menu looks pretty good, but in my opinion it's way too expensive. Cream of asparagus soup for over €10 (absolutely ridiculous) But the beer is very tasty.

The sausage salad is highly recommended! Plus a delicious gander in a great ambience! At the end there was a fantastic apple strudel.

The large tables occupied by two people and the small tables empty, but three people in a small table cannot sit (I still don't understand the reason). Cozy little restaurant run by the Freiburg Ganter brewery. Is centrally located on Münsterplatz directly at Freiburg Cathedral. There were two of us there and we had the classic Maultaschen with veal and one vegetarian. In terms of appearance, they weren't mass-produced. Both were very, very tasty. We also enjoyed the Ganter Pils and the Ganter Weissbier and went well with the food.

Milde Temperaturen im Februar, wir wollen ein Freiburger Bier „im Schatten des Münsters“ trinken. Ein jungen Keller erläutert uns wortreich, dass wir drinnen bestellen und bezahlen müssen…wir vernehmen allerlei Erklärungen, beachtlich! Der Bierzapfer schimpft prompt über den jungen Kollegen, habe er doch viel zu viel und falsches erklärt. Weiter etwas abgewandelte Erklärungen folgen nun seinerseits. Puh! 😥 nun, wir bezahlen und schnappen uns die Bierchen, schnell raus, hinsetzten, Ruhe genießen und Prost!!! 🍻

The prices are very expensive and you are treated very unfriendly if you just want something to drink. We had to leave our table and were asked outside in the cold weather, unfortunately with no choice. Now we drank our freshly tapped beer for 6.20 euros 0.5 liters on the chairs in front of the brewery. It would certainly have been nice if the weather was good, but it was bad and cold weather. We will never go there again and we cannot recommend it.

Nice place right on the market. Food is correspondingly expensive, unfortunately not of the same quality. Potato dumplings were gray and very compact. A little cabbage and sauce for the knuckle. The knuckle itself was crispy, unfortunately dry in places.
