Unfortunately, food was far too expensive. The cheese spaetzle was poorly seasoned and cooked for such a long time and the portion was basically far too small. I was at the Ganter brewery bar today and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. After I sat down on the terrace, I had to wait a whole 15 minutes before anyone showed up, even though I made myself known beforehand. But instead of serving me, the waiter simply asked the other two guests if they would like to pay - he completely ignored me as if I wasn't even there. Without even asking me for an order, he disappeared back inside the restaurant. I have rarely experienced such rude behavior. When you are treated like this as a guest, you feel anything but welcome. It's a shame - I was hoping for more. Conclusion: If you value friendly and attentive service, you should perhaps look for another location.

Very bad and the price was very bad

We were here twice, or rather we would have liked to have been here twice The first time everything was good, the service was friendly and the food was OK The second time we were thrown out again even though the door was open We were met with a very unfriendly “we are closed”. That's not how you treat guests!

I ordered a chocolate with Kuchen, they serve foreigners well, I am a Spanish speaker and they tried to speak to me in Spanish and brought me a translated letter. It has a very local and beautiful home decoration. Only 4/5 for the Cocoa, the Cocoa was good, but I wish there was a hot chocolate option on the menu. They give you cookies for your hot drink and when you pay the bill 💖

Really outrageous prices. Went there on Shrove Monday and paid €20 for cheese spaetzle, which was really at canteen level. It's not bad in itself if you charge €8-10 for it. But the card in general was really super expensive. The prices are an absolute disgrace

This space was dark and bleak. The waiter who unwillingly placed the drinks before us was exceedingly unfriendly. The atmosphere is not welcoming and you will be overcharged if you are a suspected Tourist. We were charged 11.50E for a pint of beer and glass of water from the bar tap although the menu stated otherwise. Unfortunately, this is a total tourist trap! In short, I believe the only reason this brewery persists is due to its historical location. Nevertheless, if you want to experience great German hospitality, a warm atmosphere, authentic beer and excellent food go to the locals brewery, Hausbrauerei Feierling. It is only a few blocks away. Without a doubt, the service was outstanding.

The dishes are excellent and in sufficient quantity. The service is lousy: we received the beers quickly but it took 45 minutes for the waitress to come back and take the order, even though she obviously wasn't busy all the time.

I actually can't understand all the complaints. You can eat well in this restaurant and the service is always friendly and quick.

We went with my family, it is a very nice place, the food is great and it is very affordable, it is a clean and friendly place, I recommend it to everyone.

Weird, No choice for wine by the glass… After receiving the drinks, we were warned that it will not be possible to pay via credit card. We say that we don't have any cash and so we are going to leave... As luck would have it, we are told that it works again, but that we would have to pay €108 straight away! Surprisingly, we usually pay at the end of a meal! This is what we did. Faintness ! The menu was correct, the service minimalist. We ask for a salad as a starter for one of the guests, he imposes a large salad on us, forced sale. At the end of the meal, the boss comes rushing in with his winter coat, telling us that there will be no receipt for payment by credit card, very surprising. He adds the bill on his smartphone, and finally we pay by card without proof. This restaurant is really weird. I strongly advise against it. It smells like confusion, no wonder there weren't many people there!

Tourist trap! The most expensive beer I have ever seen on a menu in Germany. These prices are only known from Switzerland. On top of that, the service is super unfriendly.

A cockroach came out of the bread basket. Reaction of the male operator: Perplexed and overwhelmed shrugging of the shoulders and a meek “I’m sorry”. That's it. No questioning, no discount, no free espresso, no introduction to the boss, none of it. Would be something for the economic control service, as long as everyone there isn't overwhelmed and overloaded. Never again.

Cuidado con el propietario / camarero! Fue increíblemente grosero. El ambiente no es acogedor y se le cobrará de más si es un turista sospechoso. Nos acusaron 11. 50 euros por una pinta de cerveza y un vaso de agua aunque en el menú se indique lo contrario. . En resumen, creo que la única razón por la que esta cervecería está abierta es debido a su ubicación histórica. Desafortunadamente, es una trampa turística total. Sin embargo, si desea experimentar una gran hospitalidad alemana, un ambiente cálido, cerveza auténtica y excelente comida vaya a la cervecería local, Hausbrauerei Feierling. Sin duda, el servicio fue excepcional.

Excellent and original Brewery outlet restaurant. Right next to the church on the main square. We had the pork schnitzel and the (wiener) calf Schnitzel. They were great, beer especially the Ganter lager was very good. They also serve a good quality of weisswurstel (southern German mild sausage served with sweet mustard and pretzel). Service was friendly. Not cheap but well worth it.

Zuppa di goulash, birra alla spina, frittelle di mele con zucchero, cannella e gelato alla vaniglia, caffè, questo abbiamo ordinato in quattro. Ambiente molto carino, servizio ottimo, prezzi nella media. E poi, pranzare sotto la Cattedrale di Friburgo, considerata fra le più belle chiese gotiche del Baden tedesco e dell'Alsazia francese è proprio un piacere!

I had game goulash, it was really not tasty for me from the quality of the meat to the taste. I even said it, but the gentleman didn't respond to it. For these prices I expect something different. It was pretty carelessly prepared, just slapped onto the plate. Had to re-order sauce because my goulash hardly had any sauce (not possible at all). It was a shame. The Kässpatzen were like a liquid paste with no taste, despite a strong smell. Not to be compared with Kässpatzen... This is about mass and tourism.... I can't recommend it!

It's not cheap, but it's good. However, it should be avoided on weekends, as many tourists flood in, especially at lunchtime. The ladies were very polite, the man was rather grumpy... Therefore only 4 stars for the service.

I've never been served such bad potato dumplings in my life: dry pressed mashed potatoes... The fact that they were small was therefore an advantage. I wasn't happy with my crust, I was allowed to exchange it, that was fair. The service was friendly and attentive and the dining room is very nice and cozy thanks to all the wood. So maybe it's better to just stop by for a beer?!

So the location is good - but unfortunately that's it. The prices are honestly astronomical for 0.5l beer €6.50 and a normal schnitzel (dripping with fat) with fried potatoes (where even the bacon was missing) €29!!! The service was totally overwhelmed and the gentleman was also unfriendly and not really customer-oriented. The price-performance ratio is right here and there. 2 main meals, 1 soup, 2 schnapps and 5 beers and a bill for €100 - and there are only tourists here. My recommendation is to go somewhere else here and drink the delicious Ganter beer.

Too bad about the situation. The view/location is really great. The restaurant also has its charm. That's about it. We had to wait an hour for our food even though it was very quiet. Unfortunately the food didn't taste good at all. The meat (roast veal) was absolutely inedible. The rest is just very, very bland. The service, although friendly, was very inattentive. It's really just a shame about the beautiful location.

We were here with a group of 14 people. You can only reserve online for 10. Then we asked over the phone and they said they would make a note of it. Unfortunately we couldn't sit at a table. Super nice evening in the brewery bar. There were three of us and we were thrilled. Starting with the online reservation! Food was super delicious (Baden cuisine 👍) We also had very friendly, courteous service who looked after us well from start to finish! We'll be back and wish the brewery bar team a good time 😉🙋🏻‍♂️

Not recommended: Meat was very tender, but Rösti was poor convenience food and vegetables were completely overcooked. It's a shame... especially given the price.

Eine sehr unfreundliche Bedienung, die nicht richtig erklärt hat, was Kuchen und Dessert ist bzw was im Angebot ist/ was nicht. Ich wollte das Angebot Kaffee und Kuchen der Saison für 8,90 bestellen, musste aber letztendlich 3,90 für Kaffee und 12,90 (!!?) für Apfelküchle für 12,90 bezahlen, weil, als ich fragte ob ich meine Bestellung ändern kann, sagte die Dame, dass die Bestellung schon im Ofen wäre... Mikrowelle meinte sie wohl, denn die Panade der Äpfel war ganz weich. Kaffee und Cappuccino waren ausserdem sehr dünn/ wässrig.

Très bien situé au pied de la Cathédrale, ce restaurant typique allemand offre une cuisine de qualité. Les prix sont touristiques mais comme partout dans le quartier. La bière locale est excellente, le personnel courtois. N'hésitez pas a demander la carte traduite en français.

Hello, four of us came to eat. The table was dirty, and when we asked for it to be cleaned the waitress gave us – literally – a very bad look. Very unprofessional. If the waiters are reading this review, a piece of advice: clean the table with kindness and without stress because it is the least you can ask of a bar. Regarding the food, everything was very fair for the price. The knuckle had some not very pleasant potato balls. The beef steaks didn't taste like anything, not even with the sauce. All quite expensive. If you can go somewhere else, try it. You'll be happy. It's hard for me to give negative reviews but here they haven't met the minimums. I hope you can improve.

The food is nothing that you won't find anywhere, but the views of the cathedral are almost unbeatable and what I would highlight most is the attention from the waiters, the best I have received in a long time. Better to move to the nearby streets, where the same beer costs €1.30-1.50 less. In fact, the people of Friborg don't go there anymore, only tourists.

The food wasn't good. You can expect better, especially for the price. I had the Schäufele for around €23. Three slices of half-cold Kassler came to the table. The chanterelle soup was also bad, tasted like ready-made food and was simply not appetizing. The ox meat with horseradish sauce didn't taste good. And that at a price of around €30. 3 thin slices of meat, a sauce that barely tasted like horseradish, and finished potatoes with no taste. All in all, the stay wasn't worth it. The restaurant is extremely expensive and the quality is below average. Better go to another restaurant in town.

Mooi restaurant aan het marktplein met een gemoedelijke terras naast de kerk.Heerlijk Duits eten voor een normale preis, ik ben 2 x teruggekomen voor de Schweinehaxe, de zuurkoolsalade is ook heerlijk en de bieren zijn ook allemaal de moeite waard. Bediening is attent en vriendelijk maar aan het einde van de avond loopt het wat raar omdat niet iedereen borden mag afruimen of afrekenen. Voor de rest niks dan hulde…

Good location, unfortunately the dishes are very clear. Prices aligned with the neighboring restaurants. 4 pieces of meat, 3x3 cm, 10 boiled potatoes and salad well... red Pete from the jar plus two pieces of onion on top, no not a whole slice of onion, two strips! Parsley...was also getting old. It's a shame, especially at wine festival time, you could expect more!

Anlässlich unseres Trainingslagers in Freiburg besuchten wir dieses Restaurant. Das Essen war ganz okay. Jedoch haben wir selten ein so gestresstes Servicepersonal erlebt. Auch die Freundlichkeit ist deutlich ausbaufähig. Ein typisches Touristenrestaurant im Zentrum.

At Münsterplatz you already have a large selection of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the view. Today, with the nice weather, we went to the Ganter brewery bar and it was really worth every cent. We sat there as a group for several hours and I personally have never been served as well as I was by the dark-skinned lady here at the Ganter. We were immediately greeted with a warm smile and never had to wait long for our orders and were given competent and friendly advice on every question. As far as service is concerned, it really wouldn't be possible to imagine better service. It was worth the visit for the service alone! The name may be misleading, but there is not only a large selection of Ganther beers straight from the barrel, but also really large and hearty portions of a variety of local German cuisine, which are definitely worth a visit. I can only repeat that the visit was really worth every cent
