Franklin Hofmann in Chemnitz

We were really lucky today. We spontaneously wanted to have dinner and there were two tables that were not reserved. The ambience warms the soul. The beer garden, which is currently not open, looks very romantic thanks to the lighting. The two employees in service are warm, friendly and humorous. The dishes are excellent. We'll be back. Thank you for this enchanting evening.

I got a small child's food there and it still tastes really delicious 😋

February 2025 Been here several times in the family. Always everything perfect. The dish with fine zander fillet fried crispy on the skin and very creative side dishes - premium! Service as always - perfect! 2024 "A symphony in the highest tones" That's what I would like to call my dessert today: macadamia nut ice cream with a brown bread crust, sea salt and hot plums. Simply fantastic! This creation deserves 5 ☆ . The grilled minced pork was simply delicious, soft and crispy inside and out. Everything 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ from me, including service, kitchen, and is worth the price. Also the opinion of my two companions. Thanks to all.

I've been there for almost 55 years. First with my father, then alone from the age of 10 and now every now and then when I'm in the corner. Just now again. Except for the mixed vegetables, it still tastes the same.

Very good, recommended restaurant on the outskirts of Chemnitz. Everything is just right here. The food, the service and the ambience are simply great.

Very good restaurant, the atmosphere is very nice. There's also something for people who don't want to eat horses. The waiter was very friendly and always had a quick saying on his tongue. I'd love to come back.

The visit to the restaurant was simply a success! Delicious food, delicious dessert! The waitress's little jokes made us laugh. That's exactly how it has to be! We'll be back! Keep it up.

Beautiful modern furnishings with tasteful design. There is a fireplace, which unfortunately wasn't heated during our stay.

The Franklin Hofmann restaurant offers a solid dining experience enhanced by charming service in traditional costume. The food is good overall, with the horse burger being a particular highlight. The hearty preparation and the clearly recognizable difference to conventional beef were convincing in terms of taste. However, the ambience leaves something to be desired. In my opinion, the tables are too close together, which creates a lot of noise and makes the conversations of the neighboring tables clearly audible. This spoils the overall impression somewhat, as it affects the intimacy and the cozy get-together. There is a small parking lot directly on site.

A really nice visit to the restaurant We recently ate at this restaurant and were very satisfied. The atmosphere was cozy and appealing. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Our orders came quickly and everything was freshly prepared. The food impressed us - the dishes were well seasoned, attractively presented and the portions were absolutely sufficient. The price-performance ratio is also right here. Overall, a successful visit and we would love to come back!

What happened to the delicious liver dumplings? I've been eating Franklin's legendary Bulletten and Leberködel every now and then for decades. Something happened. The dumplings are now torpedo shaped. That wouldn't be bad in itself, but the texture and taste have completely deteriorated. The sausage meat is finely chopped beyond recognition; there is hardly a trace of horse or liver to be tasted. Just greasier and tastes like nothing. The bullets are also different, but not quite as bad as the dumplings. Both have also lost weight. I'll come back one more time, maybe the butcher just had a bad day. But I have a sneaking suspicion that profit maximization is being pursued at the expense of taste and tradition. If this is the new standard now, then I'll never come back.

They always enjoy going there and are now regular customers. There is extremely good food here, not just from Ross. The ox cheeks are legendary. In addition to the regular menu, there are seasonally varied, always mega-tasty extras. They have the best ice cream, macadamia ice cream with an incredible bread crust around it, with plum or strawberry compote depending on the season. If you don't eat it, it's your own fault.

It should be a cozy evening. Unfortunately the decoration was better than the service I had hoped for. The food took a long time to arrive and when it was finally on the table, oh dear, it was luke warm. It wasn't enough that we pointed this out to the waitress, no, she also started discussing it. It's a shame, but we can also heat our food at home in the microwave. Afterwards we had gambled away, when our plates were cleared there was silence in the forest, I have no idea whether the staff was involved in the sales, but they didn't want anything more from us, so we decided to ask for the bill. Oops, the staff had pizza delivered to the restaurant, which they tasted even before they asked if we had another request. Very bad!! There we sat, wanted to pay and had to disturb the poor staff while they were eating. All in all, my memory of the past has ever been destroyed. Very sad.

Personally, I've actually avoided the store on principle 😅 The poor 🐴 and all that ;) But we went out to eat as a company today and it was super delicious. The main courses are plentiful and, above all, fresh. The homemade ice cream is also highly recommended. The gentleman at the service was very friendly and added the icing on the cake to the relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. I will definitely come back and wish your team a nice Christmas time

Freundliche Bedienung und gutes Angebot. Schmackhaftes Essen auch zum mitnehmen. Gute Auswahl und Preiswertes Angebot. Ein Besuch lohnt sich immer. Wer einmal etwas anderes essen will wird hier auf jeden Fall fündig.

We have enjoyed eating at “ Pferdehofmann ” ever since I was a child. The food is always very tasty. Even for people who don't like horse meat, there are plenty of other choices. You can also buy all sorts of things related to horse meat in the store to take home.

The chef has some new creations, so I went outside for the first time today. But the duck with lentil salad and red cabbage ice cream was simply SENSATIONAL. We don't have to talk about the "rest", great as always.

Absolutely top class. Starting with the ambience with a beautiful fireplace, great service, food very tasty and decoratively prepared. Just go and enjoy!

We were in the restaurant last night and can only say: We will definitely be back. The service is warm and very attentive; the offer is diverse. We had venison with Brussels sprouts, hazelnuts, dates and sweet potato gnocchi. Rarely eaten so well! The deer was sensationally tender, all components harmonized perfectly. Top!

Unfortunately, it still has something of a fast food restaurant about it, as it is very loud and conversations echo throughout the room. The food comes extremely quickly, but unfortunately the drinks only come during the meal. The food tastes delicious. However, the prices are too high.

If you want to enjoy home-cooked, fresh, delicious food, this is the place for you. We've eaten here often in large groups over the last few years, and the service has always been very good. We'll definitely be back :)

We were in this restaurant for the first time at the weekend with 11 people. The ambience is great inside and out. The staff was super friendly, our waiter was absolutely attentive, quick and funny. We felt very comfortable. We ordered many different dishes with and without horses. The food was excellent across the board, some very unusual creations, especially the ice cream... top. The dishes for the little ones were also child-friendly and beautifully presented. The prices are absolutely justified for the large portions and the quality.

The horse beef steaks are simply great. However, I have rarely seen such a demotivated and unfriendly saleswoman. Unfortunately, no snapshot - every time you visit you don't seem welcome.

Als Ex-Chemnitzer war ich mal wurde in der Stadt und auf der Suche nach einem Abendessen entschied ich mich für Franklin Hofman, obwohl ich eigentlich keine Lust hatte so weit raus zu gehen. Aber “raus aus der Innenstadt” ist in dieser Stadt ja eh das Motto… also, von der Dresdner Str. über Sonnenberg bis zum Rande des Yorck-Gebietes als Abendspaziergang und die ganze Versehrtheit der Stadt nochmal an einem vorbei ziehend, landete ich in diesem doch sehr freundlichen Restaurant, und ich kann die positiven Bewertungen nur bestätigen: die Atmosphäre sehr offen und freundlich, der Service sehr freundlich und angenehm: rasch, aufmerksam, netter Small Talk, und das Essen ausgesprochen gut. Ich hatte das Roß-Carpaccio und das Filet - beides auch mit viel sehr knackigem und aromatischem Salat. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen!

The only place in Chemnitz to eat horse meat. Very tasty food. The Ross burger comes with very tasty fries. The beef itself was a little too salty for me. The sauerbraten and the red cabbage taste very good. The prices are not exactly cheap. A regular size spiced meat costs €9.50!!! It's not worth it. Probably some kind of cross-subsidy.

Die Gaststätte ist urig gemütlich eingerichtet mit einem rustikalen Aussenbereich. Die Speisekarte richtet sich vornehmlich an Liebhaber von Pferdefleisch. Die Portionen sind üppig, die Art des Anrichtens ist aber antiquiert. Wer gemütlich Speisen möchte, nach der Art „Futtern wie bei Muttern“, der ist hier richtig.

We were your guests on August 21st and can highly recommend this restaurant. We went to the outdoor restaurant for lunch. Great atmosphere and very tasty dishes. Pork and as a side dish beans, pear and very crispy herb baguette. The friendliness of the staff is particularly noteworthy. People politely ask if everything is OK. Very good service and great gastronomy specialist staff. You feel comfortable here and this restaurant is a real insider tip for us. We'd love to come back.

Hello, I have known the Hofmann family since I was a child. On my last visit I was very disappointed. It's all mixed with pork. You can't eat liver dumplings anymore, just pork. 60 € for two people very very expensive. It's a shame about these good names.

I found the best pork knuckle there by chance! Really very tasty and not dry! The sauerkraut was also outstanding. Service was quick and nice, an all-round good visit to a restaurant while passing through.

We always enjoy going to Pferde Hofmann. Whenever we visit family or friends in Chemnitz we go to Franklin. Very good food. I ate a combo back in the GDR era. Bulletin with liver dumplings, mixed vegetables and potatoes. Yes, it is a tradition in Chemnitz.

Delicious dishes, mainly German home cooking. If you don't like horse meat, you'll find plenty of alternatives here. The meatballs in the snack bar/bistro are also very tasty. There's also a nice beer garden - a clear recommendation

I, Wolfgang Drechsler, had a big meal today with our children who are at home in Bavaria and were visiting us. We liked it so much, especially the ambience. We were served excellently and loved the food. We didn't have to take anything with us because everything was eaten. In the end I praised the service. And asked her if she was free for me on Thursday May 30th. She said no because she had a fixed contract. I just wanted to hire her as Severin for the day of my 75th birthday. Unfortunately that didn't happen. My son-in-law would like to celebrate his birthday here in Chemnitz near Fränklin next year.
