Forsthaus Kühkopf in Koblenz

The ambience in the middle of the forest was really cool, the restaurant had a nice, rustic decor. The young staff were always there and tried hard. Unfortunately, as a vegetarian, I didn't like the food that much. I would have preferred a beyond meat version of the vegetarian schnitzel. I didn't find the hunter's sauce that tasty either. The fries were good. The salad buffet was great!

Rustic fits well, unfortunately so does the payment option. The food is tasty and there is a good selection. The open salad bar, which you can design yourself, offers a pleasant and fresh selection to balance out the meat on the menu in a healthy way :) The service is friendly and attentive. In summer there is also a large outdoor area, in winter, depending on how the room is used, either loud but cozy and warm or a little quieter but quite cold when sitting.

Anyone who likes it rustic is in good hands here. Food delicious, ambience rustic. In summer you can sit outside beautifully. Staff always very nice.

The prices have become more expensive and the menu offering, including the selection of drinks, has been significantly reduced, and payment is only possible in cash. The service is consistently a disaster. Inattentive, without real decency, inattentive, forgetful and insecure. So after often waiting a long time until the order is taken, you sometimes get the food/drink you didn't order and you even miscalculated the payment. Unfortunately, the whole thing had a different quality under previous management. We are there much less often now, which is a shame, it could be different.

Via Koblenz towards Hunsrück, turn left into the city forest to the Kühkopf forestry lodge. There are enough parking spaces for cars, great hiking trails and then to the restaurant. We felt very comfortable here, a rustic atmosphere which speaks for itself, but it could still be improved, but that's not the point, a great bar, a great salad buffet and a large dining room. We received a very friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. We got drinks straight away and the food we ordered from the generous menu was brought to us very quickly from the kitchen. All in all it was a great afternoon in the forester's lodge. Thank you very much for the great service and the great cuisine. We'll be back.

The location is very nice and rustic. The food was poor, the Gorgonzola sauce was brown and didn't taste like Gorgonzola, the schnitzel gave the impression of a pressed ready-made schnitzel, just warmed up quickly in the deep fryer. Sorry, we know it differently.

The facility is getting old. The salad from the salad bar mainly comes from cans, as do the salad dressings! Fries and schnitzel, however, are quite ok!

Very cozy forester's house with good food in the middle of the Koblenz city forest. Prices ok, parking right in front of the door. Going to the men's toilet is a bit adventurous when it's dark. But overall great.

Quaint restaurant in the middle of the forest. The service was friendly. There was a Döppekoche buffet with different types of preparation, which was nice in idea, but unfortunately somehow tasted the same (except for the vegan one and the one with minced meat). However, at the neighboring tables we also saw schnitzel, turkey and rösti-salmon plates, which looked extremely good and the guests probably also liked them very much, so in fairness I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 stars.

Very tasty home cooking, large portions and very nice service. Salad buffet beyond the usual, schnitzel with Gorgonzola sauce was fine, fried potatoes with 3 fried eggs what hungry bears, spit roast was also convincing and can hardly be found on menus anymore. Prices are completely okay. Ambiance: It's a forester's lodge and not a chic trendy meeting place. The right place for those hungry for good home cooking.

The food was not as the name suggested. The meat was so parched, dry, and hard. The wine in the small glass was filled to the brim. The buffet, apart from the lettuce, had only leftovers. Once I was there, it was great. Now I'm disappointed. Donarstag is served. Schnizel war kein. I do not recommend it and will not visit this place again.

Solid home cooking. The schnitzels are big enough and taste good too. Very friendly service. The toilets in the neighboring house take a bit of getting used to, but they are clean... There is a good selection at the salad buffet, everything is fresh... I find it annoying that you can't pay by card there these days. The food isn't that cheap either. And the nearest ATM is some distance away...

We happened to pass by here today on a longer bike tour and I remembered that we had a great meal (schnitzel) at a RV diner here during Corona. So I spontaneously convinced my five friends (three couples) to rest here. However, I had no idea that we would be completely ignored here on the terrace or yard. Despite repeated eye contact and waving, we had the impression that they didn't want to serve us. After a certain time we got up and left, where a waitress said to her colleagues that she would now get a coffee and have a smoke. If there weren't three tables occupied, I would have thought we were there outside of opening hours. Everything is very strange and unfortunately no longer recommended!

Great location and seating options. The service went like this. The salad buffet was a disaster. Far too little choice. The food is good, but nothing special. There is simply no attention to detail and creativity.

Delicious Erdinger HELLES on tap. Schnitzel was OK. Homemade, but too greasy for me personally. Good salad selection, friendly service. I find it unfortunate that fried potatoes cost €1 extra compared to French fries.

Friendliness that really impressed! After we misjudged the temperatures a bit yesterday - our car with 3 dogs in it was allowed to be parked in the shady private carport 🙏🏻 but it gets even nicer - when it got too warm there too, we were offered our own cool room for the dogs - all by itself 😍 You don't experience something like that often! The food was very tasty, all the hearty classics like schnitzel or currywurst are also available vegan or vegetarian, I really liked it! The salad buffet was delicious, the atmosphere was very cozy and rustic - we would love to come back!

Nice place to sit outside, ideal on a summer evening. Service was friendly. Unfortunately the food is really not good. Fried potatoes too greasy and raw, schnitzel with ready-made sauce. Maybe the quality could be worked on. More vegetarian dishes would also be nice.

Beautiful terrace under old trees in the middle of the forest. Very large, tasty dishes especially when you come back hungry from a hike. A special highlight are the beautiful, tame chickens that roam freely on the terrace. Great for children.

Beautifully located in the forest, ideal for stopping off after a nice walk in the forest. Friendly and quick service, good food, you can put together your own side salad at the salad bar. It's nice to sit outside, but inside it's rustic. Toilets are clean. There are water bowls for dogs.

Food was okay... turkey medallions a bit too hard... otherwise older equipment and the toilet wasn't fully usable... we still felt comfortable and the price-performance ratio was TOP... service staff very friendly and quick... we're happy to come again!

A simple but fully operational excursion restaurant. What should be highlighted is the extremely friendly service; great service. The menu is appropriate for the location, but the food is not. Although the Viennese style schnitzel (made from pork loin) was reasonably priced, the quality was anything but okay. Schnitzel, fried in the deep fryer, does not belong on a menu. The schnitzel was tender, tasteless and of course dripping with fat.

Super tasty food, hardly any waiting time. Absolutely nice and courteous service, not too intrusive either. Absolute recommendation: Schnitzel in pepper cream sauce. I think the price, quality and quantity are absolutely fine. A drink off the menu was also available upon request. For me, it's absolutely worth a try followed by a walk in the forest. Gladly again, will come soon with my family 👍

Simply honest, home-style cooking in the middle of the green. Game soup and venison goulash like at Nuts.

We sat outside, the atmosphere was good. The staff was very nice and the service was fine. The schnitzel (normal and gluten-free) and the venison goulash were very good. The vegetarian schnitzel was okay. What wasn't good was the salad in the salad bar. This was probably not washed properly and was sandy. Unfortunately, the turkey medallions were quite dry and not that tender. The spaetzle was more lukewarm than hot. I personally didn't like it that much. However, a few of us found it very tasty, but confirmed that with the salad. The location is more rustic/older than chic.

The Forsthaus Kühkopf...we have enjoyed going there for years because the food was incredibly tasty and cheap and the service always had a smile on its face. But unfortunately this memory was suddenly destroyed. From what I found out, there was a change of ownership and...well, what can you say... We had 6 main courses, 2 starters (one of which didn't correspond to the order) and 8 large drinks for a bill of €115, which was actually okay, but last year with the same constellation it was only around €90. OK, prices are rising, it's common knowledge. But if the quality of the food drops at the same time, that's not nice. In my opinion, the schnitzels are now frozen products that are dripping with fat, the fried potatoes don't deserve the name (some of them half raw and not the least bit crispy). The salad buffet was also a sad sight (indefinable watery dressings). The service staff all made a grumpy, dissatisfied impression. All in all, I can absolutely no longer recommend the Kühkopf. It's a shame that a "traditional restaurant" is being driven to the wall by such measures. The Kühkopf has been removed from our list of places to visit.

Never again. Waited 70 minutes for food, which was really the lowest level. Service extremely slow and clumsy. The forester's lodge itself is old, but that adds some ambience if you like it.

Since a new owner took over the forester's house and restaurant, my childhood memories have been destroyed. You can no longer see any animals, apart from a few ducks and chickens in front of the house. You can no longer walk around the house and it is cordoned off with a fence and a warning about dogs. It used to be a nice mix of looking at animals and going out for a delicious meal. With children this has become significantly less interesting. The display case with the menu on the outside looks very dusty. The card is no longer readable. Inside you are grumpily greeted by a seemingly annoyed waitress. We would have liked to eat something, but we were ignored after the drinks as the dining room wasn't full. So I can't rate the food in this case. However, the prices for the food are no longer cheap. So we paid for our two drinks and left. Won't be coming back. The restaurant with the game gate on the other side of the city forest will be our new contact point in the future.

Very, very good and inexpensive food. The waitress Marion was super nice and was only responsible for our company (communion). I felt in good hands. If you love a rural atmosphere, this is the place for you. The children can let off steam and run around there. A paradise for them.

Last Thursday (schnitzel day) we weren't entirely happy with the schnitzel. Nice and crispy the week before.

Today we were guests again at the Forsthaus Kühkopf. We reserved our table for 5 people over the phone without any problems. The atmosphere of the forester's house is very rustic. We didn't want to move in, we just had a dinner date. You will be welcomed and served very friendly. You don't have to wait long for your drink order. There was also a lot of public traffic today because it was a beautiful Sunday and many hikers found their way to the forester's lodge. Unfortunately, the food today wasn't quite as good as in the past. We know that you can eat well and cheaply in the forester's house, but today we were very surprised because the prices in general have already risen quite a bit. We have 3x schnitzel, Ordered 2x turkey medallions, 2x large cola, 1 large soda, 2x large shandy and 2 espressos and paid an incredible 108 euros. I find this to be really cheap. There is also a salad buffet where you can get anything you like. We can recommend the Forsthaus all around and we would like to say thank you to the entire team.

When the sun is shining, you can sit comfortably here after your spring walk and watch the ducks. Plus coffee or cola. The moment, priceless 👌

We've been there countless times and we're sure there will be countless more times to come. The food is great, the staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is rustic, we love it! The only drawback are the toilets in the cold season, which should actually be avoided :-)

Nach einer Wanderung hier kurz etwas getrunken. Zum Essen kann ich nichts sagen. Ich denke im Sommer sitzt man ganz nett draußen im Biergarten und ein kleiner Tierpark ist auch dabei.

Leider war dieser Besuch nicht so gut. Essen war leider nicht mit frischen Produkten zubereitet worden. Das Ambiente war leicht verstaubt. Service war noch Luft nach oben ↗️. Sehr schade. Toilette war sehr dunkel.

Idealer Ort für eine ausgedehnte Waldrunde mit anschließender Stärkung. Vor allem wenn man den Berg mit dem Rad erklommen hat.

Wir sind nach einer kleinen Fahrradtour hier zum Essen eingekehrt. Leider hatten wir nur wenig Bargeld dabei und eine Kartenzahlung ist hier nicht möglich. Die sehr nette Bedienung hat uns trotz des geringen Budgets ein wirklich großartiges Essen (Döppekuchen) und zwei große Cola gebracht. So konnten wir gesättigt und zufrieden weiterfahren. Im Koblenzer Stadtwald gelegen, ist das Forsthaus Kühkopf ein guter Zwischenstopp für Wanderer, Radfahrer oder jeden anderen Menschen, der eine gemütliche Einkehr mitten in Ruhe und Natur sucht. Die Einrichtung ist rustikal und einer Jagdhütte ähnlich. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr freundlich. Die Küche ist sehr gut und von rustikalem Typ: die Speisekarte ist nicht riesig, aber es sollte für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei sein. Bei den meisten Gerichten ist ein (recht großer!) Beilagensalat inklusive, den man sich am Salatbuffett nach Belieben zusammenstellen kann. Das Forsthaus Kühkopf ist nichts für jemanden, der erlesene Sterneküche sucht. Wer aber inmitten der Natur im Jagdhausambiente leckere Hausmannskost genießen möchte, ist hier auf jeden Fall richtig. Die Preise sind durch die Bank moderat. Die Gerichte auf der Mittagskarte sind unschlagbar günstig. Ich mag z.B. den Schnitzeltag, an dem es alle verfügbaren Schnitzel zu einem sehr günstigen Preis gibt. Sehr schönes und nettes Restaurant, tolle Bedienung. Alles in allem kann ich dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen. Das Essen war sehr lecker.

Wir wollten unbedingt Wild essen und ich habe das Forsthaus im Netz gefunden. Es hat, was wir vorgestellt hatten, vollends erreicht. Es war überaus gemütlich, das Essen sehr lecker, die Bedienung sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich und der Wein hat alles perfekt abgerundet. Ein perfekter Abend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Man fühlt sich rundum wohl,drum herum der Wald,der Teich mit den Enten,man kann seine Seele dort baumeln lassen und vor oder danach noch schön spazieren gehen.
