A beer garden thrives on good weather and plenty of guests. Unfortunately, we didn't have either. The waiters, however, weren't distracted by this and were friendly and, given the lack of guests, very quick. The two beers we had were drinkable, cold, and very tasty. The Fässla beers are something special.

The Schäuferla (a kind of pork sausage) was delicious and served with a generous crust. The sauerkraut was also fantastic. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and quick. Parking is available nearby.

First time there. A small playground for small children. The food was okay. The price was a bit high for a beer garden. The side salad (dressing) wasn't my cup of tea; there are much better options. Just try the beer garden in Dronsendorf. The beer selection is solid but good. The service was excellent. Super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is simply a cozy beer garden.

A definite recommendation for anyone who appreciates authentic Franconian cuisine. Lunch is now a must every other Sunday ☺️. At medium capacity, the wait from seating to eating takes no more than 5-10 minutes (I've never experienced anything quicker or better in Bamberg!!!). The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The price/performance ratio is absolutely right, and the home-style food is impressive.

Fässla Keller is always worth a visit! Easy to reach by car. Parking is available. Despite its size, the beer garden is well-stocked and the service is very friendly. The food was very good and the portions were large. The snack platter is enough for two people.

We spontaneously visited the beer garden without a reservation on Tuesday evening and were amazed at how many people were there. This speaks volumes about the excellent food and service. The waitress always kept an eye on us and served us very well. Respect, that woman racks up the miles every day. The Schäuferla (a kind of sausage in Franconia) was, of course, a must. With Klos (a kind of dumpling) and sauerkraut, it was a delight. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Very pleasant for an after-work beer. Very limited selection for vegetarians (I only saw hot fries and apple strudel). I ordered the salad with falafel, which wasn't bad but nothing special. My companion had herring and thought it was very good. Conclusion: A good place for an after-work beer and meat eaters. As a vegetarian who wants something to eat, I would look for an alternative.

Anyone who's been to Bamberg and hasn't been here has missed a lot. The beer, food, and staff are simply fantastic. Homely, home-style cooking, and everything just fits perfectly. Thanks for the lovely evening.

Beautiful beer garden. Fast and attentive service, and all the food was absolutely top-notch value for money. The food also arrived incredibly quickly. Everything was homemade, nothing from a package. Only the savoy cabbage and the roulade sauce were a bit salty. We'd happily go back!

A very nice beer cellar. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, but we sat under the canopy. The service was so nice (even to my dog ;-)). The food was delicious and the portions were generous. A few more vegetarian dishes would have been nice. Otherwise, it was top notch!

Absolutely amazing place with a great atmosphere, delicious food, great and well-drafted beer. Very pleasant atmosphere, helpful staff. When I'm in Bamberg again (and I hope it will be soon), I will definitely not miss this beer garden!

The beer was average by Bamberg standards, as was the food. I didn't find the portions particularly large, and with the few hot dishes on the menu, I wish they could do a decent schnitzel with fries. The fries were in the fryer too long and were bone dry. The schnitzel was okay, but there was too little salt (although there was a salt shaker on the table). The side salad was the best part of the meal. For a total of just over €18, it's too low-quality. Just charge €2-3 more, make decent portions, and teach your kitchen staff how to make good fries ;)

Unfortunately, the food this time was substandard. A Franconian would have robbed the chef of his meal for the Schäuferla (a kind of fried dumpling). You don't serve that kind of food from the kitchen. This is probably due, as I later learned, to the change of tenant.

Beer garden with rather mediocre food. Another negative was the current construction site right next door. It was very loud, but this was only temporary, and the owner is obviously not responsible for it.

We went to dinner at Fässla Keller on Sunday evening. We had a Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad and a currywurst with onion sauce. Unfortunately, I have to rate the food only 1 star. We haven't had such a bad meal in a long time. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. The schnitzel was dripping with fat, and it had definitely been cooked for a while and just reheated. The potato salad, unfortunately, was tasteless either. No seasoning and a bit whitish, suggesting mayonnaise. The potato salad was very sticky. The currywurst had no signs of being browned or roasted and was cold in the middle. The sauce tasted like Maggi. Even the Pomeranians didn't see any seasoning. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes. Now I know why it was so quick. I also looked at other reviews. The food looks much better than ours. So maybe that was a slip-up? I don't know, but with two beers, the bill came to €35. And it wasn't worth it. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back. The service is quick and very courteous. It's perfect. The atmosphere isn't bad; you can always find a seat. Right at the front of the counter, you can see how masses of boxes are being carried in or cut up. Or the counters are being filled.

Ordered schnitzel with fries, 🍟 was very good, but the schnitzel was disgusting, sorry.

Dear Fässla team, We were your guests on Monday with 40 people. It was a wonderful evening. The service, led by Ms. Neubauer, was perfect and very friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food. My husband and I had the Franconian roast pork and Schäufala. Fantastic!! A big thank you to the wonderful team, and we look forward to seeing you again.

Amazing place to have a German food and beer 🍺, we tried their Schnitzel with sous, and Schauferla, the taste was really good! The portions were also great size! They don’t have German menu’s but the waiter spoken very good english was attentive and kind! Also they only accept cash 💶, But apart from that you get really nice experience and ambience!

We spontaneously went to Fässla Keller with a larger group and actually got a table. I had been there years ago, but unfortunately I didn't think the food was as good. I was pleasantly surprised that there had been a change of ownership. The food was really good. We had the Swiss sausage salad, schnitzel and Schäuferla. The service was very friendly and the food was served quickly (even though it was very busy). The only small criticism was that I ordered a Coke and hadn't thought about the size myself, so I got a large glass. Perhaps the staff could have pointed that out or asked about it. Otherwise everything was very good. There is a small playground for children.

In 2025, no card payments, Google Pay, or Apple Pay will be accepted. I usually avoid stores like this these days. In the worst case scenario, I would have had to ride my bike to the bank in this heat to get money. Are you serious? (Counting money, taking money to the bank, etc., costs more than the paltry fees that are used as an excuse.) The food was very good and I recommend it. The ambiance is very nice. Unfortunately, many tables were reserved and therefore unoccupied. With a bit of luck, we found an unreserved table. Would I come again on our next cycling holiday? Only if I can pay with my phone or card in a relaxed, stress-free manner, then yes. Maybe then I could even have an extra dessert 😉

I always enjoy coming here. Today, the next table was discussing how expensive it's gotten. Of course, it's cheaper in the country, but you can't compare them. Always very friendly staff, great service. Thanks for the extra cheese today. I can recommend it without reservation.

Beautiful cellar, good food, good value for money for Bamberg

The beer garden is a lovely place to stop for a bite to eat after a bike ride. The dishes are very Franconian, and you'll definitely find something to enjoy if you're interested in this cuisine. The food is delicious, and there's nothing to complain about. They also offer a wide variety of non-alcoholic beers, which is nice for drivers. The location is still relatively quiet. It's along a road, but the traffic is manageable there. Please note! Only cash payments are accepted here. We had to scrape together the money. This is also the reason for the point deduction. It's outdated not to offer card payments in our touristy Bamberg. Other guests seem to have had difficulties with this as well. There's a vending machine nearby, but it's still always a very embarrassing situation when you want to pay and don't have any money. Perhaps the operator should consider the fact that we're in the 21st century. I usually like cash too, so that's not the case, and we had some with us - but a lot of people actually rely solely on their cards these days.

Visited this place from New York. Great place for food. I haven't tried their beers, but I will try before I go. The server was very nice and helped translate the menu. The prices were great. Thank you.

Good food with very friendly service

In the past, Herbert and I had good value for money, but what has been retained is the service, which is still fast and good. Since the tiled stove took over, it's all about profit; they no longer accept card payments, only cash! I had a roulade that was unseasoned; the sauce was pure thickener. The red cabbage tasted like mush. I used to go there so often, but today was the last time for me.

Update: After 3 years, I have to withdraw the 5 stars: Three years ago, I would have happily given the Fäßla Keller six stars. The Franconian cuisine was excellent back then, everything tasted homemade, and the Fäßla beer was, as always, a delight. Unfortunately, none of that remains today. The menu is small and lacks variety, the portions have shrunk significantly, and the food now tastes more like a cafeteria than Franconian home cooking. It seems cheap and carelessly prepared. The atmosphere has also deteriorated considerably. While the service is still prompt, any personal contact is lacking. You feel like you're being processed on an assembly line. The former charm of the cellar is gone. It seems as if they only want to profit from their good reputation without delivering real quality. Very disappointing. Two stars, plus one more for the good beer—unfortunately, more is no longer justified. --- Review from 2022: --- Very good Franconian cuisine, all of which is homemade. The beer at Fäßla is, of course, also excellent. It's not a beer cellar, of course, but a beer garden (taken over from the former Maisel-Bräu). We were passing through and stopped here for lunch. A classic beer garden, very cozy. The food offers a wide selection, it was very quick, and the service was very friendly and prompt. If it's raining, you can sit under the roof.

Really good food, but unfortunately the prices have risen significantly! For example, a shoulder of pork was €12.80 two years ago and now costs €18. That's pretty steep! By 2028, it will probably cost €25 if things continue like this...

Unfortunately, it's now only mediocre, especially since before the change of management, it was a really good but usually full beer garden. You can sit comfortably under the trees, a bit away from the Bamberg mainstream, with a great view of a bizarre plucked bird "hovering" over the bar area. The bird has certainly seen better days. Perhaps a sign of what awaits us. These days, it's much easier to get a free seat, but the food is also rather inadequate. Neither the currywurst nor the Swiss sausage salad were good. The currywurst had a strange color (possibly cured), an unusual taste, and the sausage salad was a mixture of too much sweetness to compensate for too much salt. Perhaps this is intended to boost drink consumption a bit—or it was simply an oversight. The food, however, had a lasting effect—but not a positive one. Price increases are perfectly acceptable, but higher prices for much lower quality result in point deductions. The waitress who took the order and cashed the bill was a bit out of sorts... but it was still okay. The young lady who wiped and cleared the tables, on the other hand, was very attentive and greeted the guests with a friendly smile. Unfortunately, she could only answer questions and wasn't allowed to take orders. Without her, this evening would have only earned two stars. Anyone who needs one, two, or especially several beers is in good hands here and will find good company. It's probably now primarily a beer garden where the focus is more on beverage consumption than on food and a comfortable atmosphere with a good price-performance ratio. A big plus - the water served doesn't have a beer taste. The mugs and glasses are cleaned well. It's a shame, because the location still has potential.

I was disappointed with the schnitzel. It was very flat and even. It's more likely that it wasn't a hand-pounded pan-fried schnitzel. I won't be ordering it again.

So basically the information about opening times is a disaster... It was online until 11 p.m. and at 10 p.m. the waitress was having a beer after work and told us it was closed...🙈

We were eating with three people in the restaurant. Ambience a bit old but ok. The service was very friendly, the chef looked at us from the kitchen and you got the impression he wasn't that happy, but I could also be mistaken. The food was so well, schnitzel was still dripping with fat and tasted a bit “old”, Schäufele looked like it had been made the day before. But portions were sufficient. Only my plate had some sharp battle marks on the edge. Possibly a slip-up when I look at the other comments, but it shouldn't happen.

A beautiful, very atmospheric beer garden. It's great to let the children play and climb in the sandpit. Beer tastes good, food comes quickly and is great. But one star less because not offering card payment in such a large store is really outdated.
