Basically, this Persian restaurant is quite good and conveniently located around the corner from Steglitz Town Hall. You can sit outside or inside. Fans of Persian cuisine also go to Hafiz in Witzleben by the Funkturm, and if you compare, you'll see that Hafiz is more generous, more affordable, with larger portions, without having to pay extra for every penny. Example: Here, each egg yolk is paid for individually, which used to be a Persian tradition and has fallen out of fashion due to salmonella. In the other restaurant, this is free. If you ask for something spicy, like chili seeds, you get a thimbleful of oil or some other liquid with a bit of chili, and that's also charged extra. You don't get that in any other restaurant! Annoying! And every time, you're asked if you want yogurt with cucumber. You order it yourself if you want it. You can tell they're out to make money. And the drinks are too expensive. Otherwise, the main courses are quite decent and taste good. A bit bland, as if there were no seasoning at all. Salt is completely missing; you have to add a lot of salt and so on to make the food taste good. However, the raw vegetables before, the onions and peppermint, are a bit meager. The Arab shop in Moabit, which also serves Persian cuisine, is much larger and more generous. So, the place still needs some improvement... it's not perfect at the moment, as you can read in some reviews.

Fanous Restaurant in Berlin is a complete joke. The food is bland, overpriced, and absolutely forgettable — nothing but a sad excuse for a meal. But the worst part? The staff. Rude, arrogant, and straight-up racist. If you’re not German — especially if you’re a guy — expect to be treated like garbage. They suck up to German customers and behave in an overly flirtatious, fake-polite way with female customers, while showing passive-aggressive disrespect to everyone else. It’s sexist, it’s discriminatory, and frankly disgusting. If you’re looking for real Persian food in Berlin, try Khatun, Orkideh, or Hafez instead. At least there, the staff won’t treat you differently based on your gender or nationality. Avoid Fanous at all costs.

We went to Fanous for the first time yesterday, on the recommendation of a friend, and we were absolutely thrilled. Great service, a fantastic atmosphere, and the food was amazing. We'll definitely be back. It was fantastic...! 👍👍👍❤️

Incredibly friendly service; we were lucky enough to get a seat without a reservation. I definitely recommend trying the appetizers. I had a mini kadeh afterward—the perfect portion combined! I would recommend this to everyone. I came here on a recommendation, too.

I ordered Baghali Polo with lamb shank, rice, koobideh, and barg. The Baghali Polo was okay, but the kebabs were disappointing—they tasted as if the ingredients were of inferior quality.

This is the best Persian restaurant in Berlin, and I can recommend it wholeheartedly! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff are very friendly and cater to all your needs. I'm from Iran myself, and the food is authentic and tastes just like it does back home. The value for money is also top-notch, and you just feel so welcome here!

I had a bad experience at Fanous Restaurant in Berlin. When I ordered Doogh, unfortunately there was a long black hair inside. When I showed it to the waiter (a middle-aged gentleman), and asked to take the glass away, he not only did not apologize, but instead of Doogh, he brought me water and insisted that maybe I should not order Doogh anymore. In the end, they charged us for both drinks!! The staff was absolutely unprofessional and overall this restaurant has gone down a lot from before. We will never go again. The only reason I still give it 2 out of 5 is because of the good memories of the past and the beautiful paintings on the walls.

Their food wasn't that bad, but it wasn't anything special and it wasn't tasty; their employees were very rude and served very late. When we first went, they didn't come to take our order for half an hour, and no matter how hard we tried to call them from the table, they didn't even look at us. After the meal, we asked for tea, but they didn't bring it either, and I protested, and they said, "Well, don't come again."

I am from iran. I went to this restaurant today. Believe me, the worst koobideh and gheymeh which I ate in my life. Dark place. They use so many elements of iranian art in their place which they are not related to each other in art and architectural side.

The food is amazing and the place is lovely. The staff are so friendly and take good care of you. The only point that might need a bit of improvement is the fact that you need to wait for a quite long time till the waiters come to take your orders.

We were well received by the friendly lady. Atmosphere is very good and busy. Nicely decorated, authentic Persian restaurant. Koobide was just a bit too salty. Jooje had little taste. And barg had no taste at all, but very tender meat. Ghorme sabzi was delicious. Definitely recommended

The portion size was very small, forcing one to order an additional portion. Also, the quality of the Adas Polo was not good as the rice and lentils were cooked separately. Even the amount of lentils in it was very small.

Today, I went to this restaurant with my wife and son. When we entered, none of the staff who were there even looked at us, and when I greeted one of them, a man with a shaved head, he looked at me and walked past me without answering. A lady from the kitchen told us to wait until we come. We waited for about a quarter of an hour by the door, but no one even paid attention to us. I asked the gentleman again, "Excuse me, where can we sit?" He told us in a rude tone, "I have an order" and left. From there, we went to another restaurant because I think politeness and respect are more important than a few plates of food. Even if you don't have a place to sit and your table is reserved, you can very easily and friendly tell the customer, unfortunately, we don't have a place. I don't think it's too much to expect! Even my 8-year-old son said how rude this gentleman was. Friends who value respect, I advise you not to waste your time with this restaurant

I've eaten here a few times and been satisfied. But unfortunately the quality of the food has become worse. The grilled chicken had no saffron at all. I don't think I'll give this restaurant another chance.

It was quite disappointing this time. The kubideh didn't taste good at all and was half burnt. I also happened to see the waiter in the kitchen pouring soup from the large pot ON THE FLOOR into the small bowl.

This was for the 2nd time that I tried the amazing dishes by Fanoos restaurant. And it did not disappoint me. It was as tasty as two-three y ago. The staffs were also so nice and professional. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try an authentic and delicious Persian dish.

Unfortunately no longer recommended! We always went to this restaurant when we visited Berlin. But unfortunately the Kubideh no longer tastes the same as it used to and the quality has significantly deteriorated. The rice was undercooked and extremely dry. There was also a strong smell of meat in the air, which made the stay unpleasant. The treatment of customers was also bad. Very disappointing – a real shame!

Every time I invite my friends to eat at this restaurant with a clear conscience, because it not only offers a very pleasant atmosphere, but also serves us a plate full of art. Today we were surprised with a delicious Napoleon cake and I have to congratulate the chef of this restaurant for so much creativity and art!

The restaurant looks good, but you can't have a big party here. The waitress made us wait 15 minutes until the card was brought. Then again after 10 minutes, and only after the request, the drinks were brought. The store was half full at the time of our visit. Very bad choice when it comes to a restaurant. Recommended as a snack. Waiters are extremely overwhelmed and there is no trace of politeness. Persian hospitality is far from it. We waited over 30 minutes for a waiter who was completely useless!

We were recommended this beautiful and cozy restaurant by a connoisseur because we have already tried a few Persian restaurants in Berlin and love the cuisine. We stopped by quite spontaneously and only with a bit of luck did we get a spot. The restaurant was almost full to the last table: and rightly so! Because the food was fantastic! We live vegan and got great food that we really enjoyed. There are some starters that you can easily eat as a vegan (with slight adjustments) and also two main courses that are regularly vegan and even a dessert, which I was particularly happy about. Everything's great! The service was extremely friendly and took care of all of our concerns. We'll definitely be back! There is a large parking lot opposite the restaurant, which also made logistics easier for us. It was really wonderful - a Persian dream in Steglitz. THANKS!

I loved the food. I ate eggplant with lamb cubes and salad shirazi. I am amazed by the decoration and the ambiance. It was perfect. The only thing they need to do is play traditional persian music.

It was my first time in Berlin & we were lucky dinning in this beautiful traditional Persian restaurant. The food, service & Atmosphere was perfect & outstanding. The price as per the food quality is unbelievable. In Hamburg is more expensive and quality food is lower! The bread is fresh made & the Kababs & rice was excellent taste & quality. The management was friendly and accept us to dine, even without reservation. All the aspects of Persian Resturant serving was available. For example, it is very rare a Persian restaurant to provide walnut with the white cheese & fresh vegetable. Always it is only the white cheese & vegetable. Thank you for making our evening pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant. Most of the customers in the restaurant were Germans 😊 I just wish there would be same Resturant in Hamburg.

We came from the UK and decided to visit Fanous Restaurant based on the excellent reviews we found on Google—and it was absolutely worth it! This is truly one of the best Iranian restaurants we’ve ever tried. We ordered Baghali Polo ba Mahicheh and Soltani, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced. As a delightful bonus, they make their own baklava in-house, which was simply amazing—one of the best we’ve ever had. The experience was made even better by the warm and friendly hospitality. The Iranian lady who served us was incredibly polite, kind, and welcoming, adding a personal touch to our meal. Everything about this restaurant, from the food to the service, was outstanding. If you’re looking for authentic Iranian cuisine in Berlin, we highly recommend Fanous Restaurant!

The food is really excellent, but unfortunately the starters are very small and extremely expensive. For three people (including a main course for two and starters) we paid €93!

My favorite restaurant for Persian cuisine in Berlin, simply the best! The food is delicious and the people are always friendly and warmly greet guests. Everything is freshly prepared, and I particularly like ordering the starters with bread. My favorite is Kubideh with rice – highly recommended! Anyone who eats here is guaranteed to fall in love.

First experience and totally satisfied. The meat was well done and also the chicken(Judje) was juicy. The atmosphere was also unique and the restaurant was clean. Just felt a bit unorganized as we had to wait without Nobody coming to us or giving a seat to us. They serve an appetizer(Bread, cheese, …) for the table and the staff were nice. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. We had reserved a table for 10 people, but ended up being one more. When we sat down, the space was so narrow that we were squashed. When we asked for a larger table, the boss was rude and said she didn't know that we were "all fat". This statement was not only discriminatory but also disrespectful. We also sat separately and not all together, even though the back of the restaurant was empty. The waitress was unfriendly and didn't write down our orders, but repeated them loudly. The food was disappointing: the rice was dry and tasteless, the meat was OK, but after eating many of us had stomach problems and nausea. Overall a very bad experience.

We ordered loobia polo, baghali polo mahiche and kubide. Loobia polo was far from my expectations it was pulled meat and it smelled completely like burnt rice or meat. When I told them about it they said this is how we serve it, period. Not in a kind way and even rude.
