Fangfrisch in Lübeck

I realize that you have to eat fish in the north, especially when it's prepared like this: giant plaice with crabs and cod on point...crisp skin, glassy and firm in the flesh. Side dishes at the same level. And all of this with super nice staff. I only deducted one star for the ambience because the closely spaced tables in the large room lead to an increased noise level. Absolute recommendation!

Great restaurant with delicious fried fish. The service staff are really friendly and helpful, but sometimes they seemed to lack an overview. The fried fish came very quickly, but I had to wait a long time for dessert. It was very crowded and therefore noisy, but the ambience is very tasteful.

The fish n chips were amazingly good. Don't forget to drop the vinegar in the little bottle. Trout with sauces was also above average. But as I said, a restaurant that delivers flavors that are harder to find

Were on vacation in Lübeck again last week. The Fangfrisch is absolutely recommended. Super delicious food, nice service and great ambience. The own beer and the nut liqueur are also great😋😋, we will definitely come back!!!

I went to dinner at the restaurant with a friend. Our food was extremely good and the service was consistently attentive, unobtrusive and friendly. The only drawback for us was the noise, as it is quite cramped with tables and chairs. Any time!

When we got to the restaurant, we had high hopes for a delicious meal. Homemade lemonade with elderflower was almost tasteless, the potatoes were cold, and when we tried the fish and chips, the "catfish" was not tasty at all, the cod was a little more successful, but still not good enough. The We were offered a free caffe, but we said no thanks. Won't be coming back…

The food was great. I also liked the attitude behind the menu. Currently the cod needs a break - so there is no cod. The staff was friendly and cheerful. The home-brewed beer is a real recommendation.

This is THE place to be for fresh seafood and delicate tasting prepared fish. Had the Backfish and a salmon and both were mouthwatering delicious! And their homemade sauces just topped up the experience and gave it a well tasting touch to balance the tastes. If you like calm then inside is good - but if you enjoy life going by you then outside Patio is also enjoyable as it lies on a main street next to canal and a crossing bridge. Would highly recommend, I will for sure be back.

There’s no need for many words: Nordic, modern – sustainability meets traditional craftsmanship. Enjoyment without a guilty conscience. This has its price, but the quality and quantity are convincing.

If you are traveling in Lübeck and want really good, juicy fried fish, you should definitely stop by Fangfrisch. The fried fish was crispy, golden brown on the outside and wonderfully tender and juicy on the inside - exactly how you want it. There was also homemade tartar sauce and crispy fried potatoes, which rounded the whole thing off perfectly. You can taste that fresh ingredients are used here. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the new iced tea variety with vanilla and rhubarb. An unusual but really successful combination: pleasantly fruity and sour thanks to the rhubarb, with a fine, soft vanilla note in the finish. Very refreshing and something different from the usual varieties. A real highlight in Lübeck. The very friendly service is also to be praised. A very relaxed and relaxed atmosphere throughout the restaurant.

Fish was definitely of quality, I didnt think the portions were jaw drapping for that price but definitely good quality. What shocked me however: 8 euro starter for 4 ridiculous slices of bread, this is nothing short of rip off / "abzocke". Furthermore, they are charging 3.5 euro for what they call still water but is most probably nothing more than glorified tap water with perhaps some filter.

Four of us were at Fangfrisch on Saturday evening. There was fried fish which was unfortunately wobbly and the breading was almost raw. For such a simple dish that comes almost entirely from the deep fryer, the high price is simply not right.

Great food. I loved the salmon burger. The fish and chips looked great. They had their own pilsner and locally made sodas. The staff was really nice and friendly, he even made a few jokes. Price for matjes and a handful of fried potatoes is not right, fried fish (formerly fish & chips) too much beer batter breading 2/3 fish 1/3, salad not fresh, apple spritzer tasted like sweet water.

I can fully recommend this restaurant. The reputation is no coincidence. I ate fish and chips with the cod. This was such a delicate affair, highly recommended. My wife's plaice was also absolutely amazing. We would love to come back here.

Lovely place in Lubeck. Delicious and beautifully presented fish-based dishes. Best part, it's dog-friendly! We were given a water bowl for our dog. Lovely sheltered & heated seating area outside. Friendly and attentive staff. Must visit!

My first Google review: I was only in Lübeck with my partner, Holger, for three hours. While sightseeing, the restaurant immediately caught my eye. We were planning to return to Berlin and decided to eat there after all. Holger said we should definitely try the (that?) Labskaus. Although I didn't quite understand it (I'm Latina), I found it adventurous and just the right way to get to know a place and its people better. It's a shame that Jan's grandmother (the recipe author) is no longer alive. I would have loved to thank her in person.

In one word: super! In more words: I ordered the seasonal special: fried herring with roasted potato+bacon and cucumber salad. The catch was super fresh and tender, came off the bones like butter. I’m not a huge cucumber salad fan but I finished mine, it was delicious. Roasted potatoes, well is as good as it gets, the bacon bits just made it stand out. Had the crème brûlée with a side of sorbet (rhubarb) , and it completed the whole experience. Service was outstanding. The food arrived very quickly. If you’re in the area, this is one of the places to be.

Everything TOP. We were welcomed quickly and very friendly, given good advice when ordering, and the food came quickly. The food was explained to us (ingredients etc.) and it also tasted exquisite. I ordered the vegan alternative with oyster mushrooms - I can recommend it to everyone - it was absolutely delicious. At the end we got a nightcap on the house. Price-performance ratio was also reasonable as the portions were large. The staff is very well organized and super friendly. We will definitely come back.

A great restaurant and some of the best fish sandwiches I've ever tasted. So lovingly prepared with great attention to regionality. The beer from the in-house brewery is also extremely tasty. A young, highly motivated team also contributes to a very successful visit. Delicious.

On our culinary journey through Lübeck's old town restaurants, we've now landed at Fangfrisch. I've been there a while ago, and was rather disappointed by the selection of dishes. That's changed; this time there were several options. I opted for the salmon fillet and was not disappointed. The salad that accompanied it had a pleasant spice, and the fried potatoes were okay. The rest of our small group chose the zander with chestnuts and Brussels sprouts (very tasty!) and the fried fish with fries and salad. My husband didn't like the catfish as the base for the fried fish; it was too soft for his taste. The ambiance is modern and appealing; I particularly like that it's not too crowded, so you don't accidentally bump into other guests during your visit. The service staff is very friendly and attentive, sometimes just how I like it in Lübeck, typical Lübeck 😊

Die Qualität ist seit dem Umbau so brutal eingebrochen, dass wir nicht wieder kommen werden. Die Bedienung sind eine Laienspielgruppe - was aber nicht mehr zu den deutlich zu hohen Preisen passt. Wir hatten Fish & Chips: wabbelige Chips, wabbelige Panade und eine angeblich selbstgemachte Remoulade, die nach absolut Nichts schmeckte. Unsere Freunde teilten sich eine Brotplatte und auch hier war die Enttäuschung riesig. Wie kann man in einem Fischrestaurant gekochten Brokkloli auf Schwarzbrot servieren? Wenn da wenigstens eine Sauce gewesen wäre. Nee, nie wieder!!

Here you can taste northern German cuisine! Everything is freshly prepared and there is a great selection of seasonal fish dishes. The service team is extremely courteous and quick, even late in the evening. The shop is very modern and young. Unfortunately we didn't try the specially brewed beer, but we'll try that next time!

Hello, hello, that's what you do! Now listen, if you know in Lübeck how much water you want and if your hunger really tempts you, you have to go freshly caught! This isn't just a restaurant, it's a temple for fish palates. Now butter the fish: Look, I'm barely sitting there when I see the kitchen tip: zander fillet! And what can I say? Golden brown, crispy, tender as butter with fantastic accompaniments – it was pure sophistication! Plus a fish soup for my girlfriend. Great quality, perfectly seasoned, lots of different impressions – just a well-rounded thing. Hey, and the service? Fast as an eel at speed! In addition, relaxed and with a lot of knowledge - that's exactly how it should be! Conclusion: Fish fans, get to it – freshly caught is a bank!

Best fish and chips I have tried

The Michelin Guide is a constant companion of mine and has rarely given me bad advice - in this case I have no idea how it came up with the idea of recommending this restaurant. Saturday lunchtime - nothing to write home about. Friendly service, but 45 minutes waiting between starter and main without being asked is too much, especially as my companion didn't have a starter. The fish soup was well made, as was the zander, but just mega boring. The mussels were a nightmare. I have no idea why I had to eat half the sandpit. After half an eternity, I was able to explain the shortcoming to the service. Naturally, I was offered a 'replacement meal', which I gratefully declined. I was, of course, allowed to pay in full for the sandbox shells. Would I recommend Fangfrisch? Not in its current form. Either they don't have enough staff or they are busy with their various 'projects'.

Wow, we were in Lübeck for the first time and immediately discovered the perfect restaurant. All five people were thrilled and decided to definitely eat here again. The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly... wow. We'll be back!! That's definitely certain!

Today we were in this beautiful restaurant for the first time with 6 people. The two gentlemen who served were very friendly and approachable. We had plaice, zander and herring, I can only recommend it. I think the portions are large and you'll feel very full, which has become rare. Prices are okay. We will definitely come back more often.

If you are looking for a good fish restaurant in Lübeck, Fangfrisch is definitely the right place for you. I was there with my parents and we all ordered the fried fish with fries and salad. We were greeted very nicely and the service was otherwise top. Here catfish is used for fried fish. The beer breading was great, but the fish had a slightly mushy texture. I think it's basically the catfish. I would spend a little more money here because there is also an alternative to catfish. Otherwise the fish was super juicy and a high quality product. The tartar sauce was a bit too boring for me. It would have been nice to have a little more pep. The fries and salad were good. I especially liked the cucumber salad. Maybe you could think about offering this as a sole side dish (i.e. without salad). We were a little surprised about a tiny little glass of malt vinegar. Yes, in England it is served with fish and chips, but in my opinion it didn't go well here, not with the fries and not with the fried fish and you can leave it out. Add lemon to the fried fish and you're done. The toilets are quite small and could perhaps be reworked. Unfortunately, the tables also stuck a bit. But that was only minimally annoying. All in all really good and complaining at a high level. The quality was good, we were full and didn't smell too much of fish (as often happens after a visit to a fish restaurant). We would therefore definitely recommend a visit.

Hoping for a well prepared sole we were presented a dry tasteless fish that could have been run over of a car. Refusing to eat it, we were offered a less dry but still tasteless fish. For anyone who love fish, avoyd this establishment.

Very nice restaurant with excellent service. The portions are fresh and prepared with very regional ingredients. You can taste that. We really enjoyed eating here and can fully recommend Fangfrisch! The masterpiece was the marzipan mousse that I fell in love with. There is also a very good selection of grain and similar waste bags.

Really nice and attentive service, regional ingredients and everything made in-house. The food was very tasty and visually beautifully presented. Real recommendation. Dogs welcome, we were given a table in a corner and water for the dog upon request.

Freshly caught, definitely a recommendation. We booked a table at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday and the place was packed. A good sign. The service staff were attentive, friendly and in a good mood. An even better sign. Even though the store was full it was still possible to have a good conversation, i.e. The volume was also okay. As a starter there were scallops and the snack, as the main course. Fish soup and fried fish. I could now discuss culinary details, but I'll save that for now. All in all, it was a very nice visit that we can recommend to every visitor to Lübeck.

Traditionally, cod or pollock is used in the fried fish. That was the case on my first visit to you. Now I visited you again because of the fried fish and unfortunately it had a "musty" note in the taste and the fish fillet was also not very firm to the bite - evil tongues would say "wobbly". A look at the menu explained a few things: They have recently started using catfish in their fried fish. Although the idea of ​​using local fish is laudable, the expected taste of a fried fish was unfortunately missed. Please go back to the roots!
