Fairfax Express in München

More “hyped” than good, unfortunately. We waited in line outside for longer, about 30 minutes, like everyone else. We were then assigned our seats, which are benches where you sit with other people. The food selection is not particularly large. The only highlight were the fries with garlic and parmesan, sounds dry but the garlic must have been in the pesto (parsley or something else?), it was really tasty. My burger was large but very dry, without tomatoes, onions or other things a burger lacks the typical quality. It was just a lot, but not particularly tasty. The chicken burgers consist of a really large chicken breast fillet, which can dry out quickly, and quite a bit. The portions were quite large, but unfortunately nothing special. After eating, sitting on the bench, you actually leave the restaurant quite quickly because the atmosphere doesn't invite you to leave. You can't sit comfortably and chat in the large canteen.

You have to wait for 30 minutes to get your mediocre burger. The place smells very bad with oil and it's noisy as there's club just behind the door.

Visiting the Fairfax Express First of all, props to the staff who are really cool, nice and accommodating! The bacon smash burgers are good but not mindblowing either. We ate our way through the entire map. What was really the finest were the chicken tenders. Unfortunately, the milk shakes are only mainstream. As far as the fries are concerned you can't complain, good standard fries. I would have expected more from the Mac & Cheese Balls. All in all, I would definitely check in with Express again for the chicken tenders! The price is absolutely justified! It's best to see for yourself and just go there and try the food. Tastes are different and that is my personal impression.

Well, I still can't understand the hype now that I've tried smash burgers at the best ones, patties fried to death that only taste burnt 🫣 my opinion, the burger has to have drops of all the juice from the meat, so that was my last time, But thanks anyway, definitely for students or young people who have no idea, good alternative to mc&co Ah yes, two burgers and two fries for just over €40, not a bargain either

I can really recommend the vegan crunchy chicken burger! Very delicious. The meat dishes we tried were really bad. Especially the pastrami fries. Also avoid the garlic fries.

If you're looking for a very good smash burger, you've come to the right place. There is no better for me. Chicken sandwiches are also great, as are the tater tots! Always happy to come back!

I was excited to try this American-style burger after hearing and seeing so many good reviews. Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming. I’m not saying it’s bad – it was good, but not as amazing as the reviews made it seem. I tried their chicken 🍗 burger this time, so I might give it another chance and try their beef burger 🍔 next time.

Our favourite burger place in Munich! There's usually a line so come when it opens (6pm). Service is always prompt though. We always get the same order cos it's that good! Recommendations: Nashville Hot burger (only for those who can take the heat), tater tots, classic smash burger, chipotle burger

Its a MUST when ur in town. The burgers are so juicy and tasty. By 7pm theres a line to wait but it moves. The staff are nice and easy going.

Best burger in Munich! Situated within a hubbub of the city, great atmosphere and vibes. Good service with helpful staff. Now, the food. INCREDIBLE. Truly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, crispy patties, great sauces and options for specials - they had everything. Don’t miss the garlic parm fries or tater tots too! Honestly can’t wait to come back and will be telling everyone how much we loved it here!

Basically, I'm always happy when there are vegetarian alternatives in a burger shop, but you can do better!🙌 The burger bun was pretty good, but the rest can be improved... the Parmesan Garlic Fries were ok, but not great ... Otto's Burger in Hamburg shows why it's possible, even vegetarian ☝️

One of the best smashed burgers in town, no question about it, but unfortunately the concept isn't the best, the waiting times in the queue are too long. The opening hours aren't really that nice either. Drinks are way too sugary. Prices are completely normal, so they're not cheaper or more expensive than the competition, but the burger is awesome sides and a bright dip are an enjoyable taste

Waiting time on a Saturday evening was unbearably long - 40 minutes in front of the door - then again inside before ordering and until the food arrived, a total of 1.5 hours. There were only two burgers left on the menu - and that was at 7:30 p.m., i.e. 90 minutes after opening. The burger itself was OK, nothing super outstanding that you can't get anywhere else. For us, tried it once and continued again. The staff was friendly and tried hard, but the entire concept is questionable, including the fact that there is only 1 barman available at the bar. The ambience is towards a food hall, but more like just wish-i-could. For me 3 stars is the maximum!

The burgers were tasty and delicious but we spent like 2 hours till got our order.

First you had to wait a long time in front of the door to get in... because you can't make a reservation. The entire concept of the restaurant needs to be questioned... only open for 3 hours, completely overcrowded and overwhelmed, half of the menu was no longer available and you had to wait another 40 minutes for your food. The food itself is good, but not worth the 1.5 hour wait. If you change the concept of the would-be food hall, then it would pay off to come back...but not like this. You have to know.

I've been here three times and tried everything on the menu. The Smash Burger is simple and delicious – my clear recommendation. The chicken burger was very spicy (although I like spiciness) and I found the meatball sandwich, which is not always available, to be rather average. The fries are great, the tater tots are less my cup of tea. The waiting time fluctuated: once 1 hour, once 15 minutes and once without waiting. However, I wouldn't queue again for an hour. Overall a good shop and worth a visit! 4 out of 5 stars.

Long queue to get in. Then waited again for 20 minutes before ordering. When ordering, two things suddenly turned out at 8 a.m. and then waited another 45 minutes. Waiting in line for a total of 2 hours. Sad! I can't recommend it to anyone!

Be prepared, though—if you stay longer than 30 minutes, the hostess might hover around, signaling it’s time to move on, which did take away from the overall comfort. Despite that, this spot works well for a quick meal or drinks at the bar. It’s got a lively feel and is a good place to catch up with friends over a solid burger. Just keep an eye on the clock!

The burger was fantastic—amazing meat, cheese, and fries. However, the service and atmosphere were disappointing. It’s probably better to get takeout.

The fries were very tasty However, that was the only thing. When I say I'm disappointed, it's an understatement. The vegetarian chicken option was the worst I've eaten in a long time. I find it so sad to have to eat something like that when there are now such delicious alternatives. The substitute product had neither a good consistency nor a good taste. Given the price, I think it's a real shame to leave the restaurant dissatisfied.

One of the best burger place in Munich

No other words can describe this place other than MAGNIFICENT. The service, flawless. They are all very nice people and always help if the customers are in need. They sell honestly some of the best burgers I have ever eaten. The smash burgers are extremely delicious and the chicken burgers are also on another level. The sides are also extremely delicious and creative and this is a place I will always look for, when I am in the search for comfort food.

The ambience is very interesting, very simple, but also very charming thanks to the view into the kitchen. When I was there there was a party outside the store, which was quite loud & very audible inside. That was a bit annoying, but I don't think it's a permanent situation. The staff is super friendly and we would love to come back.

Modern furnishings, relaxed rap, very friendly and familiar service. We ate the normal Smashburger, Korean Chicken Sandwich and a Bacon Smashburger. Also tater tots and mac & cheese balls. We especially found the tater tots with ranch dip and the Korean sandwich exceptionally good. The burgers were also very tasty. But just “normal” burgers. Only the Mac & Cheese Balls didn't suit our taste. It's probably due to the cheese used that we just didn't like. But they were nice and crispy. Definitely a clear recommendation! It was just a shame that the selection of burgers was limited. Only two options because something had gone wrong.

Pretty good burgers for the price, okay and fresh too. You will definitely be full. The fries were very good! The restaurant is very nice and we waited longer. What I would like would be to be able to mix things up so that one person can order ramen and one person can order burgers. In general, I had the feeling that the place was more interesting for students. You can't have a conversation here so much, you have to scream. But it's also more designed for you to eat your burger and leave.

We waited about 15 minutes to get in, there was a very long line, but the service was very good! My boyfriend who eats a lot of meat said it was the best burger he's ever had! Being a vegetarian, I wasn't crazy about the vegetarian option, unfortunately.. We got almost everything on the menu to try -Nashville hot (which my boyfriend got) :10/10 , but very hot -Big Nasty (which my boyfriend took again): 10/10, with many ingredients - Original with seitan: 5/10, the most crispy vegan type chicken I've eaten, but without any flavor and very very heavy, without much sauce (I only ate half) - Garlic Parmesan fries: 7/10 they had a lot of garlic and spices, crunch and smelled great! But unfortunately they had more oil than I prefer - Fried mac&cheese balls : 4/10 they tasted very bland and were very very heavy and expensive, I would never buy them again -Tater tots: 10/10 crispy potato croquettes like foam inside, my favorite dish!! Combine them with smokey mustard and you will remember me😇 There was the possibility to take away that we didn't manage to eat

This evening we were with the Fairfax team again, in what was, for me, a new location on Gasteig. There were five of us and we treated ourselves to half the menu, from Nashville hot to classic smashed, bacon smashed, mac'n'cheese, chicken pieces, various milkshakes and fries. What can I say?! We are all like we were there from the chefs, bartenders & service plus from the USA, Germany and Ukraine --> that means we saw and ate a lot but These burgers & sandwiches are simply 🔥🙌Satisfied and happy, we headed home and are looking forward to the next visit. Many thanks to the whole team🤙 & keep it up!!! We'll be back

One of my absolute favorite spots in Munich! Great burger, especially the veggie chicken is unbeatable. It simply doesn't exist in Munich. Sides are also great and the location and staff simply put you in a good mood. Absolute recommendation!

Simply the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. As an American, I miss good fried chicken in Germany - you can get it here. Update: they've moved a few times now. Still top class. It’s also worth a visit to “Melrose”, their new sandwich place.

The best burger in Munich by far! Great, juicy meat, wonderful buns!

The burger and fries are really great. However, the concept is not really great for the customer. After waiting 15 minutes in line to get a seat (no reservation possible), you can stand in the next 15 minute line to order food. Afterwards you can wait at your seat until the food comes. You can also get normal drinks with self-service at the bar. The tables in the back corner aren't exactly inviting either.

Great smashburger, it's worth getting there early 👌

Tastier burgers - but the hype isn't quite worth the long wait for self-service...! - Reservation is not possible. BEWARE of people pushing ahead in the queue in the entrance area!!! Saturday evening around 6:20 p.m. the waiting time at the entrance was 20 minutes. We then had to wait in line for another 15 minutes to place our order. The food came after another 15 minutes. Waiting time from start of employment to meal at the table: 50 minutes! The “Classic” burgers and the “Big Burger with Chipotle?” were very tasty and actually play in the top league of Munich in terms of taste! The meat was particularly well seasoned! The classic fries were really crispy but with little salt. The parmesan garlic fries are something different but not worth the extra charge. Drinks are offered from US imports - great idea and a change at the same time :) We were sufficiently full and satisfied. Portion sizes were well chosen. In total we paid a little over €42 for 2x burgers, 2x fries + 1 drink. Not really cheap, but not too expensive either. (The tip of up to 20% on the EC device is cheeky in a self-service restaurant!) If it weren't for the long wait, we would definitely come back. Unfortunately the toilets were completely filthy. The blame doesn't fall solely on FairfaxExpress, as the local bars + restaurants share the same toilet facility.

The employee with the long hair was super nice but the burger I ate (Nashville Hot) was made to kill, don't buy it!!!!! No ordinary mortal can stand the heat!!!!

Unfortunately we were rather disappointed... We were there at 8:30 p.m. and we were told at the entrance that we were the last ones to get smash burgers and when we were standing in line for food, the waiter came to us again and said it looked bad because the chef wasn't interested has more. We then had to eat chicken sandwiches (garlic Parmesan fries were already out). Food was okay, fries and chicken were crispy, but it just wasn't what we wanted and it still didn't blow us away (as promised). The ambience was cool but the separate queuing for food and drinks was also annoying. A pity!!!!

It took a bit of a long time to wait, so you should definitely allow at least 30 minutes to wait. Aside from that, the bacon smash burger was absolutely fantastic. I think it borders on perfection in terms of taste. Overall it's worth it on for a visit.

Ok ok, 4.4 rating for this place is way under rating ! This should be at least 4.8 or above, the -0.2 is because not opening for more hours ! As carnivores 😂, this is the best burger i have had in a very long time. Everything was done to a perfection. Despite the long queue, it is worth it for every single minute. This should not be labeled as best burger in munich, this should be labeled best burger in Europe ! Finally, i would add this place as must visit in munich beside all the touristic sites, and the hop on hop off bus should stop here for people to try at least once in their life time. Excellent chicken sandwich, best I have had outside of the US. Smash burger also very good. Portion sizes very generous for the price, especially the tots or fries. Only critic is the lack of options for drinks, otherwise very highly recommend. I will for sure be adding it to my list of places to keep coming back to.

I was at an event here in the evening. There was no food so I can't say anything about that. But I thought the location with the associated outdoor area was great.

The place can be packed of people, with long lines during weekends, but the food is good. I’ve tried only the burgers, which are so good! “Even” the vegetarian one was good too! (I am not vegetarian but it was surprisingly good and tasty for me). The crunchy chicken burger with Korean spice sauce was amazing too.

Had some fantastic burgers here. Place is inside the same space as Monaco Ramen (the space also has a counter that sells some bottled beers and other non-alcoholic drinks). We tried both the Louisiana Chicken Sandwich and the Bacon Smashed Burger. Both were very good. The chicken sandwich had a thick, juicy slice of chicken, and was actually pretty spicy. The breading they use to fry the chicken was very well done. The smash burger had two "smashed" burger patties and a few crispy bacon slices. The bacon felt a tiny bit dryer than what I've had, but that could be because it seemed deep fried. The burger meat was perfectly done. Yummy food and a pretty fun atmosphere. Would recommend.

Way too many people. Have to stand in a long and hot queue to get in, then sit on cramped, uncomfortable seats - it's almost expected that you eat quickly and then leave. The food arrived very quickly, and tasted great! The tater tots are highly recommended!

We ate there for the first time yesterday and loved it. Shortly after 6 p.m. there was almost no waiting time and the ordering process went very quickly. We paid just under €52 for a Chipotle and Nasty Burger with fries, as well as a root beer and the White Choc Pistachio Shake. This is “ok” for Munich standards. But the food was very tasty! Definitely coming back!

You should try it if you like Smashburger - burger was great. However, it would also be nice if you could only choose 1 patty. They're probably all doubles. Accordingly, all around €11. Definitely pricey. I first tried a chicken sandwich. It was pretty damn spicey, but it won't be the last. The Garlic/Parmesan Fries also warn very well.

I’m a big fan of fried chicken sandwiches/ burgers and have eaten at Fairfax 5 or 6 times now. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is so good (but quite spicy!) and the tater tots and fries are amazing. My husband really likes the smash burgers but I found them a bit too rich so prefer the chicken. I also find the prices and portions really reasonable for Munich. It’s hard to find good fast or street food in Munich sometimes this really hits the spot. There is often a line but if you go a bit early you might be able to just walk in. Would love a couple of lighter sides other than the slaw on the menu in the future.

Simple, juicy and 10. 🍽️ Sweet heat sandwich (€11.5): Slightly spicy fried chicken burger. The amazing chicken. Thick, tender and with a very crunchy batter. I think I would order a different chicken sandwich but if you fancy spicy it's not a bad option. 🍽️ Potatoes with garlic and parmesan (€7): spectacular.

The Burger is okay but very very salty, like after it you will feel you need a barrel of water 😂 Service is also very basic. For the price of one burger without fries which is 12€ to 16€ I expected much more. Many other burger Joints with better flavor and well priced than this place

Good burger & very good fries. The burger was a bit dry (ordered without sauce, to be fair). The meat is already extremely mashed, which is perfect on the edges, but very dry in the middle. The bread could also be a little fluffier and butterier. Plus, without sauce, a second slice of cheese would probably be perfect. The fries and service are perfect! We were there on Friday around 6 p.m. so that the wait wouldn't take too long. 😆 We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, the Classic Smashburger and fries with parmesan and garlic. I was hoping that the Smashburger would be juicy, so I was rather disappointed that it wasn't. The meat was dry and a little harder on the outside due to the long roasting. Difficult to describe, but the taste is okay. It took me a little longer to finish it. However, the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was the complete opposite! The taste was hot, spicy, slightly sour and sweet, which harmonized very well with the meat. This burger was also very juicy and very tasty! You'll feel very full afterwards. Definitely try it out! The portion of fries with parmesan and garlic was very tasty and large. The staff on site was very attentive and friendly

The colesslaw was too sour, the chilli one too spicy. Vegetarian option, but nothing for gluten free options. The fries were good and big portions.

I know Smash Burgers and have been cooking and eating them since 2012. These are real Smash Burgers (ultra-crispy, but still juicy) and very tasty. I wouldn't change anything about the food (although the chipotle sauce makes it a little harder for the meat and cheese to shine through). You can discuss prices, but everything has become more expensive now and quality just costs. The buns are delicious, the portions are VERY generous (a smash burger + parmesan fries + a drink are more than enough to probably keep you full all day). And everything looks appealing and Instagrammable (if you're into that). The only negative point would be that you can't enjoy it outside, but that's probably not the fault of the Fairfax team. Can't wait to try a Chicken Sando - I love making and eating them too, but it's way too much effort for 1-2 sandwiches at home. Chipotle Smash: 9.3/10 Garlic (actually pesto with an extreme amount of garlic?) Parmesan Fries: 10/10 A&W Root Beer: um... a generous 6.5/10? Tastes... American. This is one U.S. burger joint to the core. It offers the basics: smashed burgers and chicken sandwichs. Basics but amazing. The place is opened only in the evenings and there s always a crowd, but it s totally worth it. Pass by for a pure american dinner burger experience with U.S. soda on the side to make the whole experience great.

Interesting concept with Asian and American (fast food) cuisine. Very tasty in terms of taste. But it makes sense to make a reservation because it gets very full quickly.

Not worth the hype. Smashburger tastes good but unfortunately the chicken burger and the fillet parts weren't good. We had to finish eating afterwards because it tasted strange. Fries are average. The milkshake is ok, but also very powerful. You have to like that. Waiting in line for 23 minutes and then having stomach problems, I don't know if I would recommend it.

A great experience. Service is fast at the front of house however the cooking and pick can take quite some time. Food is amazingly delicious so worth the wait.

The food is very good for both vegetarian and meat options. Coleslaw is very vinegary and no one I know liked it, for the garlic fries, they are using fresh garlic I think and doesn't taste the best imo, would definitely go for tater tots or normal fries instead. There is a bar next to it and the only thing separating them is one door which constantly gets open, so if you are near that door you will constantly hear the music from there, mixing with the music from Fairfax and making it impossible to talk.
