Fährhaus Caputh in Schwielowsee

The food was okay. The view over the water must have been great, but unfortunately, we were seated in the back room, which was rather uncomfortable. We tried for two days to reach someone by phone and email to reserve a table, but ultimately received no response whatsoever – neither a call back nor an email. This service definitely needs improvement. The venison, prepared in many ways, was good. The meatloaf was unremarkable.

Wonderful food. Everyone loved it. The staff are so incredibly friendly, cheerful, and welcoming. We felt very much at home. A fantastic experience. The restaurant is charming. We sat in what I would call the large conservatory. It was warm, and everything was beautifully and lovingly decorated. The view of the ferry and the Havel River is stunning. Reservations are recommended.

The food was delicious. My roast venison was incredibly tender, and my father also recommends the coconut shells. However, you should make a reservation, as the restaurant's reputation for good taste extends beyond the small town. The restaurant is right next to the ferry terminal and offers a unique view over the Havel River. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We highly recommend it.

Very good service. Prices are reasonable. The food has been very good so far. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the dog policy, which we couldn't understand. You can't take dogs onto the terrace. You can only sit inside with a dog, but there you can't see any of the beautiful surroundings.

Fährhaus Caputh, a beautifully situated location with a great outdoor terrace, and the original building, which has been preserved, also contributes to a wonderful ambiance. The menu is small, and the commitment to sourcing locally results in fresh, high-quality, and beautifully presented dishes. The pork schnitzel with panko breading was wafer-thin and almost perfect, but I would prefer the topside; it's simply juicier and more tender. The service is—I can't think of another word—exceedingly friendly. I'd go back anytime; the value for money is excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the direct view of the water and the ferry. In the afternoon, we chose two appetizers (snails and fish stew), which pleasantly surprised us with their exquisite, aromatic preparation.

An awesome position and great food with very kind staff, we loved it! Not too far from Potsdam by car, very nice walk along the river promenade. Albert Einstein loved this village a lot and had his boat here.

We've cycled past here several times and stopped for a break. We didn't eat much, just ordered dessert and a drink. The food that was brought to us looked good. The staff were VERY friendly and accommodating every time; a true delight. We really enjoyed the seating, whether in the garden, on the terrace overlooking the lake, or in the conservatory. It's also wonderful to watch the little ferry from there. Overall, it's a restaurant that we really like and would happily recommend!

One of our favorite restaurants. You can travel all over Berlin and Brandenburg and nothing quite matches the atmosphere and quality menu as here right on the water. Well worth the trip!

Located right on the water! If you want a seat by the water, you'll need to queue early, as the restaurant fills up quickly, at least the waterside. The interior is spacious and pleasantly decorated. There's also plenty of space outside under the large linden tree! The menu leaves nothing to be desired! Good, home-style German cooking! Super tasty and beautifully presented. The price-performance ratio is right. The food came very quickly. The service staff was excellent! Very friendly and accommodating. I'm thrilled to have discovered such a restaurant and can recommend it with a clear conscience. I will definitely go there again.

A restaurant, of which there aren't many left. Wonderful ambiance right next to the ferry across the Havel River near Schwielowsee. We sit on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Havel. The service is typically friendly, typical of Brandenburg, and the food is homemade – perfect. We like to come here whenever we can manage it on a trip.

Three of us went to the Fährhaus for lunch on Friday. Even without a phone reservation, we were quickly offered a table on the waterfront terrace. The service was very friendly and quick, and the menu was extensive. The value for money was good, as was the quality of the food. We had a wonderful dining experience in a lovely, summery ambiance. I highly recommend this place!

The Fährhaus Caputh is located at Straße der Einheit 88, 14548 Schwielosee. This former ferry house on the lake offers home-style cooking, as well as regional wines and spirits. The atmosphere is excellent, and the ambiance is also very pleasant. I recently enjoyed some fine beers and a "Havelland-style" roast beef there. Both were delicious. Great location right on the water. Unfortunately, no table reservations are available, but even at peak times, the excellent service team makes every effort to ensure that the wait isn't too long, for example, by offering you a drink while you wait. The food is good, home-style and very tasty, with something for every taste. While it may not be cheap, it's worth every penny. Despite the restaurant being full, the wait for food and drinks was very short. The food was delicious. There's virtually no parking at the restaurant, but there's parking on the other side of the river near the ferry or in town just a short walk away. Overall, a successful evening; we'd love to come back!

A wonderful place to linger. Right on the shores of Schwielowsee. The restaurant still has the old style but is very nice. Historic restaurant. The reception, sometimes you have to wait outside until you're escorted to your table. Incredibly friendly service. The food was absolutely delicious: herring and tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms. We sat right by the open window and watched the hustle and bustle on the lake. Wonderful 😄👍

Ich war schon oft im Fährhaus essen, bin ja in Geltow zu Hause. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, dass das Essen mal nicht geschmeckt hätte, bis auf heute. Wir hatten einen schönen Platz am Fenster, eine sehr höfliche Kellnerin, die mir das Essen schön reden wollte. Es gab:Gegrillter Rote Bete - Fenchelsalat mit Honig, Orange & Schafskäse. Serviert wurde das Durcheinander heiß, alles wie gekocht, von Salat keine Spur, in einer heißen Soße. Der Käse war total verkocht. Die Rote Bete war keinesfalls gegrillt, denn das war das Einzige, das nicht heiss war. Es schmeckte nach Öl. Gar nicht gut. Ich hatte mir etwas anderes gewünscht. Habe nicht aufgegessen und meine Kritik geäußert. Es wurde nicht nachgebessert. Ist wahrscheinlich immer so. Wer also einen Salat mit gegrillter Rote Bete essen möchte, sollte das nicht im Fährhaus bestellen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht.

There's really nothing to complain about here. Due to the location, there's actually quite a bit less space on the terrace on the water when the weather's great. But if you sit out there, every cent is well spent! The service was incredibly good! The lady at the reception was really polite and made an effort to make the wait for a table seem unnoticeable. We were really well looked after and asked if we'd like a drink while we waited. The food was also very good. Good, traditional German cuisine! I recommend the goat cheese. It's really well presented and delicious. The service was always attentive and took really good care of us. The location is really, really beautiful. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated. The seating by the water is especially beautiful 🤩

The food was beautifully presented, but the meat, herring, and salad were not well seasoned. The mashed potatoes tasted like powdered mashed potatoes, and the potatoes were overcooked and sparse. The price-performance ratio was not right here. We wouldn't eat there again.

Das Lokal liegt wirklich wunderschön am Wasser, was die Atmosphäre sehr angenehm macht. Als ehemalige Werderanerin kenne ich das Lokal auch noch zu DDR-Zeiten und habe mich wirklich gefreut, dort zu sein. Die Bedienung war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen war gut, aber mehr auch nicht – es hat mich leider total enttäuscht. Leider stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht ganz, da die Preise für die gebotene Qualität einfach zu hoch sind. Insgesamt ein schöner Platz, aber für das Geld erwarte ich etwas mehr.

The lovingly converted former ferry house has a bright, friendly ambiance – with sanded floorboards and a great open-plan layout. What was particularly nice was that some of the windows were removed, creating a pleasant atmosphere even in the heat. The staff was consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming – they really cater to every guest. What's especially nice is that children are very welcome here! We were even offered the children's menu twice, even though we no longer need it – a great sign of consideration. The food: Simply fantastic! I had a fresh leaf salad with grilled chicken and crumbled feta cheese – served with whole-grain bread, not cheap toast. Delicious! We also had schnitzel with fries twice. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the cucumber salad was wonderfully fresh. The schnitzel was special – not a traditional breading, but probably panko or something similar – super crispy, yet tender and juicy. The ambiance outside on the terrace is also fantastic: with a view of the water, the ferry in the background – simply beautiful. And the service is fantastic. Bottom line: If you're in the area, you definitely have to go! Great food, great service, beautiful place. Highly recommended!

Dinner at the Fährhaus has become one of our highlights when we visit family in Geltow. The intimate atmosphere, the exceptional friendliness of the entire service team, and the delicious soul food prepared by the kitchen team, whose high standards are their maxim, make every visit feel like "coming home."

A spontaneous idea during a bike ride turned out to be a stroke of luck. The entrance alone: ​​well-kept, discreetly decorated, the areas raked. Small floral arrangements, candlelight, ... and, most importantly, the friendly welcome from all the staff. The location on the river also contributes to this, of course. The menu is simply different from many places. The drinks and food, at a reasonable price, are simply excellent, and we really enjoyed being there. We live 500 km away. What a shame! After several unsuccessful attempts to reserve seats via email, we headed out yesterday. Luckily, we received a very warm welcome and got great seats. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food left nothing to be desired. We'll definitely be back next year.

What a beautiful place! We took a trip to Caputh as friends, and one of the highlights was the ferry house. First of all, I'd like to thank you for the very friendly and always attentive service. The food was delicious, lovingly prepared, and it tasted great for my friends and me. The ambiance and location are unbeatable. Simple and harmonious!

The food, while fresh, is at the level of a school cafeteria. When I asked to move to another free table, the hostess firmly replied "no." The only positive aspect was the friendly waitress. I wouldn't go back just for the food.

Anyone who has visited Potsdam and hasn't eaten, drunk, and lingered at the Fährhaus in Caputh has missed out on a lot. Great food and drinks, a first-class atmosphere, and excellent service. We'll definitely be back.

On the way to the Einstein House, we ended up at the Fährhaus. All the seats were taken, so "you'll be seated." Nevertheless, we got our seats relatively quickly. The staff is very friendly, quick (without seeming rushed), and makes every effort to accommodate all special requests. The food is of good quality, very well prepared, with a strong focus on regional produce, and very generous portion sizes. It's not completely wheelchair accessible, but anyone who can manage two small steps will be well looked after. We'd happily return.

After 12 km we were hungry and were looking forward to the much-praised restaurant. Visits with dogs are only possible on the terrace or in the garden. Then the weather has to cooperate. We were a bit lucky, dry but cold. With a wool blanket and heating from above it was somewhat bearable, which a friendly waitress offered us and we gratefully accepted. The service was very quick. However, one of the ladies was snotty and the order took too long for her... I wouldn't go there because of her. The tarte flambée was really tasty. The two fish dishes also left nothing to be desired.

At the Caputh ferry house there is not only the ferry, but also food, drink, comfort and conversation with a large selection of dishes, from fish, meat, vegan, etc... It's a good place to linger, there's a children's playground just a few meters away and a good view of the Havel with its busy boat traffic.

The food is very tasty, prices are medium to high (measured middle class)

Dog owners beware: Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant! We just got turned away. It's a shame if it shows up differently on Google.

I'm only giving three stars because I didn't feel welcomed yesterday. I was with my husband and we got a table inside at the back, not directly on the water side. Then I saw that a table was free and wanted to change there. The waitress immediately came and directed us to the old table, saying that others also wanted to sit by the water and placed three other guests at the table where we would also have liked to eat. That wasn't hospitable. When a table on the water side became available right next to us, she didn't offer us the table again and put a reservation sign on it. I am a restaurant professional myself and I absolutely cannot understand such behavior. The food was very tasty and the atmosphere was very nice. It's a shame that the waitress wasn't concerned about our well-being.
