Yes, sitting on the Elbe meadows in one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Dresden... can be a luxury... and on top of that watching the steamer traffic, enjoying the peace and quiet among the crowds and looking at the fantastic skyline of Dresden all the way to the Semper Opera House... beautiful.

Let's put it this way: if I have to pay €5 for a small portion of fries, plus a bratwurst, that's €11, still without drinks, so it's a mediocre snack with a soda and a small beer for about €25. No thanks. We kept cycling. The atmosphere is great, everything's good, but for us, the value for money isn't there, so somehow it's okay. But as I said, it's a personal decision. A few kilometers further on, there were bratwurst, fries, and drinks for €15 total.

It was our first time there and I have to say it was really nice. The service was very friendly. The food was really delicious. Nothing to complain about! We'd love to go back 😊👍

The prices are high considering it's not in the city. In my opinion, it's too expensive, but the rest, the ambiance, and everything else is absolutely fine.

Very good beer garden, friendly staff

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city. I met up with friends for lunch, and we were once again pleasantly surprised. The food and drinks were delicious 😋 Keep it up, I'll be back.

Relaxed seating in a pleasant atmosphere. The food was decent and tasty (goulash, dumplings, red cabbage). The price was reasonable, too. Minus points for—as criticized by others—improperly filled beer glasses and the unfriendly behavior of the employee. The man standing at the grill with a "don't talk to me" expression also left a bad impression on our last visit with his annoyed demeanor.

The term "calibration mark"/"fill line"/"calibration mark" seems to be unfamiliar to the bartender here. And if you then point out that you're paying the price for 0.5 liters and not 0.45 liters or even less, you'll get a rant. This line marks the minimum amount of liquid; foam is on top!

So, we were totally satisfied! Delicious food, friendly service, and a nice atmosphere. As Thuringians, we'll gladly come back! And our glasses are full, too ;) to contradict some of the reviews.

For cyclists, this is a pleasant beer garden on the Elbe Cycle Path with a view of the river. The food is rustic and absolutely fine. When it comes to beer, the barman's mood determines whether you'll reach the bar's maximum (someone in the queue in front of me complained about this, but it wasn't busy). The restrooms are modern and clean.

A beer garden with a beautiful setting and easily accessible by bike, but the beer glasses were supposed to contain the amount of beer paid for. When we asked for it at the self-service counter, we were rudely fobbed off. We didn't feel welcome. What a shame!

I went there on a recommendation the first evening, and then every evening after that. Good, plentiful food, with a wide selection of drinks. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Dresden!

Unfortunately, the beer is always too low. That's annoying. But it's actually a nice beer garden on the Elbe. The food is quite okay.

We visited the Fährgarten Johannstadt last Saturday. The ambiance is pleasant, but we were disappointed with the service. The glass we ordered for a beer wasn't completely full. When I pointed it out, the glass was refilled with beer from a stale glass – a completely unacceptable practice. The beers my companions ordered also tasted flat and varied greatly in flavor. The food was okay, but didn't make up for this. For these reasons, we won't be visiting the beer garden again in the future and won't recommend it to anyone.

The bratwurst was really black! You have to get your own drinks and food at the bar. The view is beautiful! 3 stars based on price/quality.

The location is great and the staff very friendly. I'm willing to pay more than "cheap is good," but €4.50 for a Bionade and €5.50 for a small portion of fries, and all that self-service. Nope. Sorry, that's extortionate. Inflation or not.

A nice place for a refreshment. They also serve a few simple dishes at reasonable prices. The giant umbrellas are certainly practical, but they do take away a bit of the atmosphere.

The beer garden is in a great location, with a great atmosphere. You can sit there for hours, have a drink, and enjoy yourself. However, the food is not recommended. Most of it is ready-made food from the deep fryer, and consequently very greasy. And at completely inflated prices. The man at the grill was very rude and condescending to us.

Great sitting at the river with delicious (mostly traditional) food, a grill (if there are enough guests around) and a wide choice of beverages (almost 10 different kinds of beers from the tap alone). It's self-service, but the empty plates and dishes are collected and the staff is very friendly. Prices are perfectly reasonable, so if you are in the mood for sitting on a patio, then this is one of the best options around here! Update #1: the spare ribs are the best I have had in Germany so far!!

We were at the Fährgarten last night. The atmosphere is really great and the staff who clear the tables are very attentive. There were never any dirty dishes lying around. However, they should make it clear on the notices and when paying which items require a deposit. Not on glasses, but on carafes and wooden boards. But no, they don't do that and thus collect the deposit money as well. When we finally found out about it, we were rudely told that the deposit would be mentioned when paying, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. They urgently need to improve this, as it is otherwise a lovely beer garden.

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in Dresden! A very well-maintained location on the banks of the Elbe. Food and drink stations are located throughout the grounds. The cauliflower and sausage were delicious! A wonderful place to relax after work and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I like to come here often to end the day with a shandy, ice cream, wine, or dinner. Beautiful view...Always something going on.

Questions, such as whether a certain food is available at the grill (or upstairs), are answered with stupid brazenness. It seems that even a modicum of politeness or normal interaction isn't even present.

Very nice beer garden, good food and friendly service.

I haven't been so annoyed in a long time about the €16 I spent here on pasta with tomato sauce (my son said it was ketchup), a Thuringian bratwurst, a Coke, and a 0.3 l Spezi. Some of the pasta was white, some was yellow and cold. My son ate almost none of it. The drinks weren't properly chilled and lacked carbonation. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the Fährgarten Johannstadt and would avoid it next time.

This venue is highly recommended for any occasion. The service and the entire setting, right on the Elbe River with a ferry crossing, are very fast and friendly.

The atmosphere is very good, but the food is rather adequate. Be careful with the beer, as they don't pour enough into your glass.

We ate at the Fährgarten today. It was the worst currywurst with fries we've ever had, and incredibly expensive to boot. Never again.

We were guests there for yesterday's steamboat parade. It was cozy, lots of people and, despite the banks of the Elbe, really very shady. The selection of food is large, but nothing really healthy. Only fast food and grilled food. But that was fine. Drinks come in all sorts of shapes and colors, from light drinks in the bottle to Limocello Sprizz. Casual sayings at the counter are free. To make a stop on the banks of the Elbe, the Fährgarten is the right place. Self-service, but nice team.

Unfortunately, drink prices are far too expensive for a beer garden. The beer prices are well over 5 euros and then only 0.4l. There is a big cash-in here. Prices like in Austria on the glacier and over €1 more expensive than in Munich in the beer garden.

Price-wise, you have a good view of the Elbe here.

We only drank something, but the limoncello drink was with basil instead of mint leaves and a little limoncello. I was very disappointed as I otherwise really like this drink. The Qiark balls were fresh, warm and delicious.

Very unfriendly service!!! Almost all of the dishes that were on the menu were no longer available! I won't eat here again!

Clear, cozy and inviting to relax

We come here 2-3 times every year to meet old friends. Very centrally located in Dresden, with beautiful surroundings and inexpensive food and drinks! There are enough seats. The parking spaces at the front of the bat bridge are usually free. Of course that means Waldschlösschen Bridge. Of course, the best way to reach it is by bike or on foot. When the weather is nice, it's always worth a short trip to the Elbe meadows with friends or family!

We went curling there with the family. It was a complete success. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Track and material in very good condition. The whole thing in a heated tent - protected from wind and weather.

We were hungry and wanted to eat something... saw the posted prices and none of us were hungry anymore... where does the man get the prices?? Luckily there are other Elbe gardens

I had a great day with family including curling, drinking coffee and a 3-course meal in the evening. In the heated tent so that our toddlers also had fun and joy. The staff was perfect, very good service, friendly and nice. I can only recommend it.

This is the closest beer garden to us and we love to frequent it. I would give their Thüringer sausage with a side of sweet potato fries a try! Their portions are generous and the core staff also speak English, which is a plus for us. A nice variety of beers and nonalcoholic beverages, stunning views of the Elbe in both the summer and winter, delightful Christmas lighting in the cold seasons. They also have covered, warming lamps and seating for the cold months. I love this place!

Very well located on the ferry just before the city

Today I was in the Fährgarten in very nice weather. We had to wait in line for a long time to order our drinks. Unfortunately the staff was overwhelmed and asked several times about what was ordered. The serving of 2 mulled wines took about 10 minutes, even though there was no other guest in front of me. When I asked, I was told I was impatient. Sorry, I haven't experienced that yet. Great atmosphere, but INCOMPATIBLE staff. The operator should not save on staff when it comes to prices.

The ticket has been decorated for Christmas in the winter. What a celebration for the whole family.

The best beer garden, in my opinion! Thanks to the attentive staff, the tables are always clean, there are no dirty plates lying around, etc.! This contributes greatly to well-being. The small photo box directly in front offers the opportunity to capture the day. The meadow facing the Elbe, where you can sit with your drinks, is also great - a picnic feeling without having to pack and lug stuff! And if necessary, you can take the ferry directly to the Neustadt.

Were there yesterday and all I can say is wonderful. The range of drinks and food is great. The ambience was excellent and so beautifully decorated for Christmas, great, just great. Would love to come back.
