Exenberger in Frankfurt am Main

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant. The vibe is very simple, clean, sleek. I was only visiting Frankfurt for 48 hours and wanted something German so I had the schnitzel served with a fresh herb sauce, potato, and lemon. It was fabulous! Fried perfectly crisp, but thin as it should be. Wunderbar!

Very tasty food. Different from the other tourist bars in Sachsenhausen. Tip: Seats just to the left of the entrance (opposite the counter) have a heater on the wall. However, the restaurant is quite small. You should make a reservation. Toilets could do with a renovation.

The service consisted of one person who was simply overwhelmed when the store was full. Everything took a little too long. Schnitzels were great, I've had better green sauce in Frankfurt and the prices are okay. There was a disgusting smell of urine in the toilet...

Nice little, bright and cozy restaurant with a fixed menu but also changing daily menus. There were two of us and we had a small salad, heaven and earth, Frankfurter schnitzel, apricot dumplings as dessert and apple cider and the homemade elderberry lemonade. Everything was very good. The green sauce is particularly noteworthy. I've never had a better one in the restaurant. Price/performance ratio is great...fresh homemade dishes at a fair price

Service was friendly but sometimes a bit inattentive. The ambience was okay but not special. Unfortunately the food wasn't really good. The dishes were at the table after 5 minutes, didn't seem homemade and were very salty. If you want something quick to eat at a medium price, you'll definitely find something.

Quaint place on an unassuming corner. I needed to spend some time waiting for my train, and this spot was perfect. The servers had me seated quickly and were quick to bring out the food I had ordered. The cider they had was to taste, but the main course was excellent. The Schnitzel Weiner Art was truly fantastic, being fried well and the potatoes on the side were equally as delicious. The one real complaint I do have regarding this restaurant is the servers not being particularly attentive, however this could easily be thrown up to a difference between German culture and the American expectations that I hold.

My ten-year-old daughter can cook those ham flecks better. Tragedy. An ordinary pub, they don't even have draft beer and I really didn't like the food.

Great restaurant with lunch. Here you can enjoy traditional German dishes in a modern atmosphere. The lunch menu changes daily and is always posted on Instagram from around 11:00 a.m. If you're in a hurry during your lunch break, you can order and pay at the counter. I find that very practical. The food is then brought to the place. Food and service are great. On Fridays there is always a fish dish

A slightly different cider bar. Tastefully and simply furnished inside, it exudes a quieter atmosphere than the typical Frankfurt cider bars. The Frankfurter Schnitzel was also very tasty and inexpensive.

Auf der Suche nach einer preiswerten, nicht zu überlaufenden Gastronomie im "Apfelwein-Kneipen-Viertel" Sachsenhausen schauten wir spontan hier vorbei. Apfel-Wein oder Weißbier, Schnitzel, Frankfurter Küche, schöne Einrichtung, freundliche Kellnerin und Stimmung, auch flexibel bei Sonderwünschen. Einziges Manko: Wurde schon um kurz nach 22 Uhr geschlossen. Wir wären gerne noch länger geblieben!

The price-performance ratio is SUPER!! The food is great and the drinks prices are really in the lower segment! For the location, the prices are really reasonable! The evening was simply amazing and the cuisine was really diverse - it was delicious and cheap and I'm already looking forward to the next visit!! Gladly again - everyone friendly & accommodating - top!! ❤️

Incredible. Everything was amazing. We came in hungry and disappointed with the overpriced restaurants in the area. We saw this place from the street, walked in and left happy and full! Cozy atmosphere, friendly vibes and amazing German food strongly recommend!

Where can you give 10 stars?! Unfortunately, we only discovered this great restaurant on our last day in Frankfurt. Unfortunately we didn't have a reservation, but we were kind enough to wait for a table. That evening we had the best Frankfurter Schnitzel with green sauce of our stay, as well as a delicious apricot dumpling. Delicious apple cider and medlar rounded off the evening. The service was extremely friendly and we felt very comfortable there.

An absolute recommendation! I had rarely eaten the Frankfurter Schnitzel with green sauce so well. Schnitzel is always a bit difficult if you don't prepare it correctly. It's the same with the green sauce. Both were excellent. Everything prepared fresh and quickly. The restaurant is very small and you should definitely book a table in advance, that would make sense. The service was very nice and accommodating. The prices are also very good.

Very pleasant shop that we actually only discovered by chance - if you want good German cuisine at a fair price, this is the place for you. Our waitress was also really nice and attentive. The green sauce was unique. All in all it was a lovely evening and worth a visit.

Small place with a welcoming service and tasty food.

The restaurant is nice and cozy. However, it is rather small, therefore I would suggest booking. The quality/price ratio is good compared to other restaurant in Frankfurt. Schnitzels are about 13-15€. I would not recommend ordering what they call a “goulash” though as it is just a dish of pasta with some pieces of meat dumped on it. The service was good and rather fast.

What had just happened? Today, February 7, 2024, I was bitterly disappointed in one of my favorite bars. Is there a new tenant? Puree from the pack or zero seasoning. Sauerkraut??? Straight from the can into the microwave and onto the plate?? Incredibly poor performance. Barbecue ribs dry, poor quality. Cutting knife blade loose, just not hanging on a screw. I hope that was just an oversight, but I'm afraid not...too bad. The service was nice

I was in Frankfurt on a 24hr layover in July 2023, traveling from Singapore to Montreal with my family. It was the first time my children had been in Europe, and after a morning of sightseeing, we ended up at Exenberger for lunch. It was phenomenal. I recently asked my kids what their favorite meal was in 2023, and my youngest said it was his meal at Exenberger. I agree wholeheartedly! Vielen dank, and we'll be back the next time we're in Frankfurt.

Richtig gute Küche! Grüne Soße äußerst lecker, Schnitzel auch sehr geht. Die Kartoffelpuffer mega: Schön goldbraun und knusprig, innen saftig-kartoffelig. Himmel und Erde auch perfekt! Hinterher Kaiserschmarrn, simpel, aber so gut - jedes stück knusprig karamellisiert, ein bisschen Vanillecrumble drüber und zwei Saucen. Wirklich toll. Und das alles zu Preisen, die teils nur halb so hoch sind wie sonstwo. Dazu noch freundlicher und geduldiger Service und Platz für Familien. Absolut zu empfehlen!

Das Essen ist im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis spitze! Hier zahlt man im Vergleich zu den umliegenden Restaurants noch angemessene Preise. Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet, daher kann es manchmal auch einen ticken dauern. Die Speisekarte ist nicht ganz so breit gefächert, dennoch bekommt jeder Gaumen etwas nach Gusto. Es gibt auch immer eine Tageskarte. Toll wäre natürlich auch, ein extra Mittagsangebot. Service ist höflich und es wird sich bemüht alles richtig zu machen. Mit Kritik wird sehr gut umgegangen. Die Räumlichkeiten sind schön, lediglich auf der Toilette könnte es wärmer sein (man bekommt schon fast eine Blasenentzündung beim eintreten). Gute Anbindung an die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel.

Ein wunderbares kleines Lokal in Sachsenhausen empfängt mit Wärme und Charm! Schlichte aber stilvolle Möblierung, passend und stimmig. Die positive Stimmung der vielen jungen Gäste schlägt über. Bedienung: ausgezeichnet! Essen: Frankfurter lokale Küche sehr fein gemacht! Schnörkellos von offensichtlich besten Zutaten gekocht. Handkäs mit Musik, grüne Soße zum Schnitzel, Sauerkrautauflauf - einfach prima! Schöner Äppelwoi! Genau was wir gesucht hatten!

Das(?) Exenberger ist ein toller kleiner “Imbiss” in Sachsenhausen. Alles war gut. Das Essen, der Service, das Ambiente aber auch das Klientel hat alles in allem gepasst, was heute ja leider nicht mehr so selbstverständlich ist. Tipp: Haltet Ausschau nach der Tageskarte! Die bietet weitere tolle Gerichte. Leider ist uns die Tageskarte erst später aufgefallen. Ein Hinweis zur Tageskarte der Servicekraft wäre super gewesen, ist aber nicht weiter schlimm, da der Abend insgesamt trotzdem sehr gelungen war!

Die warme Küche macht nach eigenem Ermessen schon vor 22 Uhr zu, obwohl überall Öffnungszeiten bis 23 Uhr angegeben sind.

Hessisch forever! Gehört zu meinen Standards. Dieses Lokal kenne ich wirklich schon sehr lange und es hat, meiner Meinung nach, sein Versprechen gehalten: Hier gibts lokale Produkte, gut und ehrlich zubereitet, ohne Schnickschnack. Die Teller werden liebevoll angerichtet und die Preise sind absolut angemessen. Hier gibts auch gute Weine und leckeres Bier, nicht nur das Frankfurter Stöffsche. Tipp: Frankfurter Vorspeisenteller. Die Bedienung ist super nett.

Gute, schnörkellose Küche zu fairen Preisen. Die Karte ist überschaubar, wird aber durch eine Wochenkarte bzw. saisonale Gerichte ergänzt. So wird jeder fündig.

Bin sehr positiv überrascht. War das erste Mal hier. Gute Auswahl, gute Qualität, Preis Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut! Service super nett und auf Zack wenn er/sie da war. Einziger Kritikpunkt: wir saßen draußen in der rechten Ecke. Dieser Bereich wurde meist nicht gesehen und wir mussten mehrfach auf uns aufmerksam machen und schließlich reingehen um eine Servicekraft zu uns zu holen.

Weit mehr als ein Imbiss. Es gibt sowohl traditionelle, regionale als auch internationale Gerichte. Das Ambiente ist klar und modern, trotzdem gemütlich. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Ich war mit zwei Freunden zum ersten Mal dort. Das Essen (ich hatte einen Salat) und die Getränke waren sehr lecker, der Service sehr freundlich und schnell. Man kann drinnen oder draußen sitzen, wobei man dann durch eine "Hecke" von der Straße getrennt ist.

Fantastisches Essen und freundlicher Service. Besser kann man gutbürgerliche Cuisine nicht machen. Bin dort schon seit 10 Jahren Stammgast. Qualität des Essens ist gleichbleibend sehr gut.

We immer war der Besuch im Exenberger eine Wucht. Beim Exenberger bekommt man ganz feine Gerichte ausgezeichnet zubereitet. Immer ein tolle Karte mit abwechslungsreichen Specials, frischest zubereitet. Hervorzuheben ist auch das sehr nette und zuvorkommende Service. Ich freue mich bereits auf das nächste Mal.

Ich habe Rindersaftgulasch mit Nudeln bestellt und das Essen war sehr lecker, extrem heiß (was ich liebe) und die Nudeln Al Dente. Es war gut gewürzt und der Klecks Creme Fraiche dadrüber hat sehr gut gepasst. Mein Apfelwein war leider nicht sehr kalt, sondern lauwarm, was bei der Hitze nicht optimal ist. Die Portion war aber wirklich großzügig, auch nicht am Fleisch gespart und sehr schmackhaft, daher 5 Sterne und ich komme wieder mit Begleitung.

Es bezeichnet sich selbst als "Der Frankfurter Imbiss". Leider sind die Portionen alles andere als nur Imbiss. Das ist schon ein ausgewachsener Teller. Drinnen nicht so die Appelwoi-Stube sondern zeitgemäße Einrichtung: klein aber fein. Man sollte doch besser bestellen. Überraschend die Preise: selten so ein tolles Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Leider nichts für Mobilitätseingeschränkte, weil die Toiletten nur über Treppen erreichbar sind. Der Service ist angesichts der heutigen Situation mit dem fehlendem Personal in Ordnung. Mehr kann man momentan nicht erwarten. Hauptsache mein Himmel und Erde war lecker. Senf fehlte!
