I had a top-notch rib-eye steak today. I can highly recommend it, and I'm a master butcher myself! The drinks were great too.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive; they notice everything, and empty glasses are replaced immediately 😊. This bar is a great place to eat, have fun, listen to music, and even watch football. It's a place where Cologne meets Mexico. I'll definitely be back.

The Escudo Bar is a place where you feel at home thanks to its great ambiance. The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food is solid, and they even serve Kölsch beer. In summer, the terrace directly on the Nidda River is a great place to linger. People love coming here!

Super delicious... everything was great!

I first came here over 20 years ago, and I haven't been back for quite some time. Not much has changed in all that time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing... The service and atmosphere were good, albeit a bit too loud. The food was unfortunately below average. As expected, it had little to do with authentic Mexican cuisine (they don't even serve traditional guacamole as an appetizer), perhaps more Tex-Mex. The cheese on the nachos was rather cheap. The fajita was extremely strangely seasoned (like a ready-made mix from the supermarket) and oversalted. The accompanying sauces were tasteless, as were the rice and bean mash. The margarita (frozen) was okay, but could have used a bit more alcohol. All in all, the meal left me with a heavy stomach afterward, so I didn't bother with dessert. Honestly, there are better alternatives in Frankfurt.

The ambiance is meant to exude a bit of Mexican flair and needs to be improved and cleaned. The food is very good, but a bit much. But it really tastes very good.

The Escudo Bar is somewhat inconspicuous and hidden away in the heart of Bad Vilbel, right on the Nidda River. However, it's highly recommended. The ambiance is playful and charming. You can sit and eat on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Nidda River, inside, or in the courtyard. The service is fast and friendly, the drinks selection is extensive, and the food is delicious.

You'll feel at home here. Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, and excellent service. The focus is on Tex-Mex, which is served very authentically. However, you should make a reservation in advance.

It didn't quite turn out the way I expected, but you should definitely visit them for the ribs, as my colleagues say 😄

Heard about it many times. Some people love it and others seem to hate it. So you just have to try it out yourself. No sooner said than done and we reserved seats for three people outside on the terrace for all-you-can-eat spare ribs on a Thursday evening. We were warmly welcomed and had to wait a moment to get a seat outside. Orders were quickly placed and the food was served to me. At all you can eat, spare ribs are served as standard with a tiny side dish of salad and a tortilla. Of course, you can also order side dishes for an additional charge if you absolutely need them. Since I've been a passionate griller for years, I'm also very spoiled when it comes to spare ribs. I have to say at this point that I was absolutely positively surprised about the napkin meal. I have rarely had such good spare ribs in a restaurant. And the subsequent delivery when our plate was empty also went smoothly. At other restaurants I have already experienced that the food delivered has gradually decreased in quality. This was not the case here. In addition, the price of €22.90 for all you can eat spareribs is more than acceptable. Friendly staff and always a smile from the waitresses. Just as you would actually expect. I can say for myself that it's definitely not the last time I've been there. Kudos to the chef, the service staff and the owners for the nice atmosphere. Thanks so much!!!

Great restaurant, I go here regularly and have always been satisfied. Price-performance very good. Staff always friendly and accommodating. The terrace is highly recommended when the weather is nice. There are now also several vegan dishes, which I can only recommend. I really enjoy coming here.

Completely unfriendly greeting. No hello, instead a direct question as to whether there is a reservation, otherwise "it looks bad". When we said no to the reservation, my wife was asked in a really disgusting commanding tone, "Why not?" Then left the store. Practice kindness, people, and then something will happen. In my opinion a very unpleasant experience.

You can eat delicious food here. But you should reserve in advance. It is very well attended.

So today I was really disappointed. I've been there several times and so far everything has always been great, but this time I felt really ripped off. My 4 year old child just wanted a citizen with meat, cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise, without any side dishes etc. I paid 16.90 euros for that. Was the burger made of gold or why couldn't they make it a children's price? After I mentioned it, nothing was deducted. That's pretty cheeky. It's a real shame!

The food is very good. The portions are very large and you fill up well. The service is also good. The atmosphere is very nice and you feel like you are in good hands. Always my pleasure. Definitely recommended.

Spare ribs all you can eat, super lecker

We are there about once a year. The same main card for years. Service friendly but not on point. You have to place repeat orders for drinks yourself, none of them come by themselves. Fajitas and quesedillas were lavish, the whole meal was very heavy and weighed heavily on our stomachs until the next lunch. Unfortunately, it's no longer worth going there from Frankfurt, even though the terrace is very nice in summer. We didn't really like the chicken either. Overall, it's no longer recommended.

We had dinner in the restaurant yesterday and had a lovely evening.

This place was recommended to me by a friend, and it certainly paid off! There was an accidental mix-up with our orders, but we were given nachos on the house as an apology for the delay. The waitress was supee sweet and cheerful, loved the vibe! The portions are filling and good for the prize.

Had a very unpleasant experience at a business lunch: Two female colleagues were approached several times by male bar staff in such a way that they expressed discomfort and even disgust. Unfortunately, the rooms in the restaurant area are also getting old, not to mention the stairs leading to the toilets. What also comes across as a bit unprofessional and is only well received by the constant regular (table) customers: when the staff drinks with you and, later in the day, starts lounging around on the terrace and "talking to" customers without being asked and in an unqualified manner, as described above. All in all, it appears to be an old men's shop that is in decline... That doesn't stop the rather mediocre TexMex food and the nice waitresses. The journey takes 15 minutes and you can eat three times better for similar money in Frankfurt or Bad Homburg, for example.

So the food was anything but tasty, the service was friendly but we had to get up several times to order because no one came for so long. My friend's meal was returned and was still billed for, the head chef was heard swearing loudly and overall the restaurant is not for lovers of real Mexican cuisine, but more for people who like canned ravioli.. sorry but we won't come again.

VERY SAD Me and my husband are regular customers here. The Escudo Bar is actually my favorite restaurant. We always eat the same "Chicken Fajitas" usually it always tastes good and the service is good. Today on Mother's Day, my husband and our son went there to eat. It started when we noticed that it tasted different than usual, which isn't that bad. But when I saw a strange, disgusting food stain on the edge of the pan, I lost my appetite past .it was very old and looked unappetizing. I had told the waitress that I couldn't eat any more of the food because it had spoiled my appetite. I barely touched the whole food, but nothing was done about it I wasn't offered a new plate or anything. So I left with an empty stomach. I am very disappointed because I have always recommended this restaurant to everyone I know. Very sad when you lose your favorite restaurant like that.

Since my wife didn't want coriander, the head of the kitchen came out before production and made sure that he was allowed to supply the alternative. Exemplary. The service also kept up with the number of guests and struggled. Unfortunately, like elsewhere, the prices here are also a bit high, but that's probably the case almost everywhere these days. We would come again. Oh well, the beans could be quite spicy...if you're sensitive ;-)

Cozy atmosphere in the regular restaurant area, nice atmosphere and in summer with a terrace (view of the Nidda and the park). Separate smoking area with the new "Kölschbar", where sporting events such as football and ice hockey are also broadcast. Changing music, which is also pleasant. Everything is offered, from mariachi music and flamenco to Cologne songs (in a separate area) to rock music and chart music. The food is very tasty, the prices are reasonable. Very friendly, fast, courteous and sometimes very pretty staff (Hello, Sam😏, Hello, Fay). After all these years it is still the number 1 recommendation for restaurants in Bad Vilbel.

Always nice there, we have been coming for over 20 years now and would love to come back. Very good Mexican food and great steaks. Etc. Can be highly recommended...

Super nice service and super good spare rips

On Sunday we went to Escudo again with our son and his girlfriend. We've been coming here for probably 15 years, the food has always been great. But on Sunday there was a WIRE in her friend's vegetarian quesadilla, which she then felt while chewing. What a shock for us! And what terrible things could have happened! But apart from the offer of a new meal (she preferred not to, she had already lost her appetite), there were only 3 churros for dessert as "compensation". Of course we had to pay for the meal. We didn't make a big fuss, but in retrospect the story still pisses us off! A pity!

There were five of us with our children for dinner. Table reservation perfect (was called back due to phone number transmission). Service nice and attentive. The appearance of the food is ok. Unfortunately the food did not meet our expectations. We found the mixed starter platter for 2 people plus a bit more as there were 5 of us a bit excessive for €33.50. In the end there were 5 meals, 4 cocktails, 1 bottle. Water, 1 starter plate just under €158. The ambience isn't worth it to me. I agree with a previous speaker that it was not a culinary revelation.

Donnerstags Spare Ribs ayce, super lecker und zart, fallen förmlich vom Knochen. Die mexikanischen Gerichte sind auch zu empfehlen! Vegetarische und vegane Gerichte gibt es ebenfalls!!!

Mir hat es dort sehr gut gefallen. Das Essen hat uns geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich.

Unsere absolute Lieblingsbar seit vielen Jahren (eigentlich schon Familientradition), da Essen und Getränke geschmacklich konstant auf sehr hohem Level sind und auch das Personal immer freundlich und entgegenkommend ist!

Immer wieder einen Besuch wert und eines der wenigen Lokale in Bad Vilbel, die über Jahrzehnte hinweg gleich gut geblieben sind im Bezug auf Qualität der Speisen, Preise und super freundlichen Service. Extrawünsche bei der Bestellung werden erfüllt, es gibt außerdem leckere Cocktails- da könnte sich manch anderes Restaurant "eine Scheibe abschneiden".... Reservierung empfiehlt sich definitiv, sonst wird es schwierig mit Plätzen.

Einfach nur wow nette menschen schönes Ambiente zu Fähren Preisen, hab noch nie so gute Rippchen gefuttert sehr wohl gefühlt immer wieder gerne 👌

Das Essen und die drinks war super schnell da und sehr sehr lecker. Die Atmosphäre ist prima, authentisch und es macht Spaß sich umzuschauen. Die mitsrbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich. Musik war etwas lauter, hat uns aber nicht gestört. Gerne wieder :)

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder dort gewesen, es war wahnsinnig voll aber der Service trotzdem sehr flott. Leider muss ich sagen das das Essen sehr nachgelassen hat, es war früher schmackhaft (er) und frisch (er). Die Saucen waren gekauft und nicht selbstgemacht. Die Nachos lieblos auf dem Teller "angerichtet" und absolut geschmacksneutral, sehr schade bei diesem Preis.Ich hoffe das es dem großen Andrang geschuldet war. Die Getränkepreise waren absolut in Ordnung. Wir werden wieder einmal hingehen und unserem (ehemals) Lieblings -Mexikaner eine neue Chance geben um uns wieder als Stammgäste zu gewinnen .

Immer wieder ein Besuch wert. Ein toller Mexikaner mit leckerem Essen und leckeren Cocktails. Der Service war nett und freundlich, das Ambiente ist authentisch. Es ist meistens ziemlich gut gesucht, daher ist reservieren sinnvoll. Wir kommen schon seit Jahren gerne hierher :)

Durchschnittlicher Mexikaner mit zum Teil überteuerten Preisen. Eine Vorspeise für 22 € mit 3 winzigen Drum Sticks (die sind selbst vom Supermarkt gefroren größer), 2 winzigen aufgespießten Hähnchenstückchen, 3 Mozzarellasticks und 3 Jalapeños ist schlichtweg too much. Die Hauptgerichte sind mengenmäßig und preislich in Ordnung aber auch keine kulinarische Offenbarung. Der Chili-Tomatenreis auf jedem Teller ist nur simples Füllmaterial und schmeckt fad. Die Fajitas waren viel zu durchgebraten und waren ziemlich zäh. Die Hackfleischmasse in den Enchiladas z.B. glich von der Konsistenz her eher dem Bohnenmus. Der Service war zwar freundlich und bemüht aber völlig durch den Wind. Als wir unsere Cocktails bestellten, war unser Tisch noch voller Teller, die man nicht mitnahm sondern nur die Getränkebestellung aufnahm. Als die Cocktails kamen, quetschte man die Gläser zwischen die Teller, dann erst kam jemand anderes, der sich der Teller schließlich erbarmte. Die Cocktails waren gut, auf der Terasse knapp über der Nidda sitzt man mit schönem Urlaubsfeeling. Allerdings sollte man darauf achten, dass einem nichts durch die Planken und das Geländer rutscht, sonst sieht man sich unfreiwillig zu einem nächtlichen Tauchgang in der Nidda gezwungen.

After some ok experiences in the past my wife and I decided to go back to Escudo for Mexican food last weekend. I called them around midday to make a reservation but the restaurant was still closed and I could not even leave a voicemail. I was positively surprised when a couple of hours I received a friendly call back and we could reserved a table for this evening. The inside of the restaurant has a lovely ambiente but we preferred the balcony overlooking the Nidda river on that lovely, warm evening. For dinner we had Burrito Cesar Salad and Beef Fajitas. Both was extremely good! The flavors were delisches, quite authentic Tex-Mex. The beef was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection, very tender and juicy. The baked beans also had a very nice, rich flavor. Topped with a friendly and attentive waiting staff, all in all this dinner exceeded our expectations. We will be back soon.

Richtig gutes und leckeres mexikanisches Essen, netter und aufmerksamer Service sowie gute Atmosphäre im Restaurant. Was will man mehr? Für Rollstuhlfahrer nur bedingt geeignet, da sich die Toiletten im Untergeschoß befinden und nur durch die Treppe erreichbar sind.

Ich bin gegangen mit meinen Freunden, gut Location, Personal top, Richtig lecker und die groß Portionen

Sowohl das Essen als auch der Service und die Atmosphäre waren klasse. Es gab typisch mexikanische Gerichte in sehr guter Qualität und die Portion waren außerordentlich üppig, dazu leckere Cocktails, eine feine Ginkarte und Paulaner vom Fass. Wir waren rundherum zufrieden und hatten einen großartigen Abend. Unbedingt reservieren, wir waren samstags da und es war sehr gut besucht.

Entgegen der vielen positiven Erfahrungen, muss ich hier leider vom Gegenteil berichten. Das Essen (Quesadillas und Enchiladas) war leider so arg mit Käse überladen, dass man nichts vom eigentlichen Gericht geschmeckt hat. Auch die Beilagen waren eher mittelmäßig. Während unseres Besuches lief die große Hitparade der 80er Jahre; finde ich in einem mexikanischen Restaurant eher unangebracht. Lediglich das Personal ist hier sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Deswegen auch die 2-Sterne Bewertung. Schade :(
