Very beautiful cozy interior, you have the impression of coming to eat at your grandmother's house. The food is good, but the service a little confusing. The young girl who served us was very stressed (new to the team?) but was very pleasant.

We found the restaurant because it was close to the hotel where we were staying and how delicious it was! Super cozy and traditional, we ended up going there twice in just three times in Berlin, I recommend it!!

A bit bizarre eating in the middle of a book sale but the food was good and the service friendly. Felt like eating at grandma's

Classic German dishes, sauerkraut everywhere 😅 It's delicious and served in a warm atmosphere. Feels like you're visiting a home. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended

We had reserved a table for four people. Apart from the fact that there was a tablecloth (turned inside out) on the table, nothing was prepared. The food was a long time coming. A schnapps was offered as compensation. The restaurant wasn't full, but it was incredibly loud.

One of the best meals was at this rustic German tavern. The ‘Berlin traditional pork knuckle Eisbein‘ was delicious and the sides paired were cooked well. Additional sides were palatable and timelessly traditional. The dessert that I had was succulent and homemade. The staff members were genuinely hospitable. The dining area interior is elevated from the street and comfortable.

Nice service, very accommodating, the food is overpriced. The toilets should be cleaned every now and then, at least toilet paper would be nice!!

The ambience on the riverside terrace was absolutely lovely, as was the entire restaurant. Gorgeous view of the Spree. My husband raved about his sausage platter. My potato rosti with smoked salmon was delicious. Have to give 1 star to the service because while our male server was very kind and attentive , towards the end , the rude female server forcibly cleared our platesjust as we were finishing and "declared" that she thinks we need our bill. And then declares that it has to be cash . We had no issue paying in cash but the rudeness and tone of trying to rush us off was ridiculous. She only changed her tone when she realized we were put off and would not tip her. Want to reiterate that the sweet male server is very hospitable in contrast and if possible , please ask for him while dining . The female server needs to be trained or fired. This comes from someone who works in hospitality.

We saw them while passing by and went in. They welcomed us even though we didn't have a reservation. Chicken breast and Berlin style liver were delicious. The attention shown was excellent. They were very polite. The atmosphere was very nice. I recommend it to everyone 🌸

Rude rude rude! Made a reservation through the restaurant’s website, received a confirmation email but when we arrived two rude men said ‘we cancelled you’. I showed them the confirmation email and they just said ‘we cancelled you’. They basically took a bigger booking so our table of five was refused entry. So rude. Ended up going for a lovely meal at Brauhaus Georgbraeu which had a great atmosphere and was nice and lively - unlike Ephraim’s!!

My experience was terrible! We made a reservation through their website for 2 people and when we arrived they simply said that they couldn't find the reservation and that the restaurant was full. We asked how long it would take to free up a table and the waitress recommended that we look for another place nearby to have dinner. We weren't able to taste the food, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want good service.

Quite simply the best sauerkraut of my life. Nothing to do with what you can find in Alsace. Very pleasant place, service a little cold but cordial. Be careful, they don't take credit card (in 2024, really?)

Katrina , the waitress and very cordial person, helped me to choose my meal and drinks. The food was delicious ( eisben), and the drinks , my dark draft beer just a perfect match. At the end a warm apfelstrudel with ice cream . The cordial Aquavit. Perfect dinner by the river at night. Highly recommend to have dinner when in Berlin

A very good place on the river bank

Very antique furnishings! Visually great. You feel like you've been transported back 2 centuries! The food, roulade, was a bit sparingly sauced! Condition was attentive and the yeast was well contained! It was a bit noisy from the street outside in the “beer garden”, but it’s more comfortable inside anyway!

Disappointing experience. While the place is very atmospheric and the staff is nice, the dishes are lacking in taste. The pork knuckle was mostly fat and the lamb slightly dry. The desserts were re-heated including the pancakes. Also we were a bit pressured to pay in cash, while the machine did work in the end without any issues

Today is the last day of our stay in Berlin and once again we went to have dinner at this nice restaurant. Thanks to Yaroslav, who not only provides good service, but is also very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Ali served us for the first time, thanks to whom we wanted to return to this restaurant again.

The best days are long gone. Unfortunately, Essen is characterized by the fact that only through traffic is planned here. That means you don't have to try very hard.

Very characteristic restaurant on the riverfront in Berlin. The quality of the food is average, nothing too exceptional (we took the schnitzel, nothing special). The desserts, however, are good (the strudel is recommended). Pretty good prices. Too bad about the service, not very attentive. They didn't clear our table and the service was a bit absent.

Our server was friendly, attentive, and efficient, and he was very kind with our attempts to speak what little German we know. My husband raved about his sausage platter; my schnitzel was very good, but I'd just had one that blew my socks off the day before, so it was an unfortunate comparison. (The potatoes, however, were heavenly.) Absolutely gorgeous views of the Spree. Really a wonderful place to have a meal.

Food was not good at all, everyhing else was good

I didn’t mention that there was no ice, so I ordered a Coke at room temperature. It didn’t seem right to drink Gongla at room temperature on a night of over 30 degrees Celsius. I also asked for lemon slices to neutralize the sweetness. After waiting for a long time, the meal still didn’t come. It’s really bad that this restaurant requires a tip. The pig's feet are wet and different from those grilled in other places. Personally, I don't like them. Beef liver is not dry, but tasteless. It relies on the flavor of the sauce to support it. It is not greasy when paired with apples. It's a good restaurant for everyone, but everything I asked for didn't come. I won't come back with this kind of service.

Best food I have had during my 5 days in Berlin, and cheap price as well! Salad had very fresh vegetables, smoked salmon was wonderful, and presentation was pretty. Service 10/10; super helpful and friendly.

The terrace overlooking the Spree is magnificent. The Berlin atmosphere goes perfectly with the dishes served. I recommend the apple strudel for dessert!

The location on the Spree is of course great. The service was friendly and quick. However, there are compromises when it comes to food. The potato soup was good, as was the schnitzel. However, the fried potatoes were very soggy and the salad that was served with the meal was very little. The beer - I'm very picky about this - came to the table a little too warm.

Been here twice in the last week. It's a lovely spot by the river and the waiters are very friendly, especially to foreigners like us. Tonight had the goulash soup and the cured pork knuckle, which was lovely - sweet pulled ham on the bone and plenty of it!

I'm happy to recommend it👌☺️. We haven't eaten as well as we did there in a long time. My daughter had the celery schnitzel and I had the beef roulade which was super🤤 delicious. And on top of that, the great service is always friendly and funny.

Tasteless food and quite the tourist trap. They also pretend they can’t accept cards and you need to pay cash, you will need to insist for card payment. Also they said tips are “mandatory”, which is not true in germany.

Nice surprise! We really enjoyed our stay at Ephraims. You can get all the classics from German cuisine and the prices are reasonable. Were served quickly by friendly people and sat right by the water. What more could you want!

Excellent place for dinner, on the banks of the river in front of the museum island, the food was great, the dishes were well served and very delicious and the waiters were very careful with the tourists. A place to recommend, surely when we return to Berlin we will stop by there.

The service was excellent. Staff are very accommodating towards English folk. I had the pork knuckle which was very very tender. My girlfriend had the aubergine which was also very good and light.

Nice wiew and the food was ok. Unfortunately the service was terrible. One person (a child) had to wait for her food for almost 45 minutes longer than the rest of us. During this time the waitors avoided eye contact with us and we didn't even get an apology. Wouldn't recommend it.

Uber traditional german restaurant in a very historic building with an incredible past. Very meat heavy menu as to be expected but we found two delicious vegetarian meals nonetheless. Staff very helpful and overall very nice experience. Would return for the swabian pasta!!!

the staff worked very well, especially the waitress Irina, but the kitchen made us very sad. The schnitzel was the epitome of fatty butter, it looked like it had been soaking in a deep fryer for years, I must have eaten a year's worth of calories, my gallbladder immediately started to feel hurt, I only got over it a few months ago. In general, I had to fight for my life because of this schnitzel, but I liked the strudel. The only consolation was the way the waiters served me; it became the last obstacle to not spoil the evening. So, I came away with strange feelings and I tripped over the trap door.

Real authentic German food. Went there because a friend was visiting and wanted to experience traditional German cuisine. So there we were, in the most German looking restaurant, with the most German tasting food. Coming from a place where German food was often regarded as bland and boring I was pretty surprised to discover it’s not really the case! I mean, not a huge fan of boiled or steamed food so I guess I wasn’t going to be a big fan of it anyways but it’s some of the nicest boiled potato and steamed fish I’ve tried. Also the decor and the service were perfect. Thanks!

We Berliners were finally here and were able to get a nice spot by the water among all the tourists. We were served quickly and friendly, and the food came quickly despite the large number of guests. Our schnitzels were freshly prepared and delicious. The prices are absolutely fair, even for the drinks. Will definitely come back.

Excellent place, the best I went to in Berlin. The food is well presented, in exact portions, (not super abundant that you can't finish them nor that they look like samples) the place looks like an old house next to the river, the waiter is always attentive without being on top of you, I don't speak German or English and He was not Spanish either, however he made every effort to understand me and give me a good experience, and I found the prices very good since in other places they are much higher and with lower quality in attention, service and gastronomy. I would go back without thinking

Unfortunately, the food didn't taste good at all, you had the feeling that the dishes were ready (like in the supermarket). We would have expected a little more for the price. The waiters were friendly, the location was fine too.

Authentic restaurant on the Spree. When the weather is nice you can sit on the outdoor terrace. Real German, Berlin dishes that tasted very good to us. Contrary to what I often read in the reviews, we were able to pay by card without any problems, so not in cash. Very acceptable prices.

We took shelter from the rain that day and were served quickly. I recommend the local fish and lamb. Very atmospheric inside and the flowing river attracts everyone like a magnet. I highly recommend it.

We had a group reservation and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I would like to mention an outstanding service. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and managed very well. We had a memorable event which wouldn't be possible without a full commitment of the restaurant team that day. We are very grateful for your hospitality. The food is traditional German. All the dishes were delicious. Even better if the wine card offering would have been much wider. Currently it's very limited and basic.
