Restaurant Helmut by Salt'n'Sugar in Berlin

We were at "Opa Helmut's" on October 2, 1925. It was absolutely delicious. We had a "Königliche Kugel" (Royal Ball) and a "Liver Berliner Style." What we were served was a work of art and a truly unique taste experience. Thank you for this culinary highlight. A big thank you also to the friendly service.

We've always been satisfied with the food, until today... after an hour, we had two cold burgers. The meat was lukewarm, but the bun was hard and cold. We told the waitress, "I'll pass it on," and nothing happened. Mind you, we were the only customers in the place.

Excellent food. Everything was very clean and tidy. The ambiance doesn't quite match the food, but the service makes up for it.

Very tasty food, but when I ordered a senior's plate, it was more expensive than my wife's main course of veal liver. I ordered a small children's pork schnitzel with fried potatoes and a side salad, and with the alleged side dish change, it cost €23, while my wife's only cost €22.50, even though my portion was smaller. I was ultimately very disappointed. The chef doesn't seem to be very accommodating in this regard. M. Poszwa

Campsite restaurant with good food, but not cheap. The owner himself serves very friendly and attentively.

I've always enjoyed this restaurant and have always been very satisfied with the food. However, today I was disappointed by the way I handled my first-time review: For a total bill of just under €100, I ordered two iced coffees, among other things. The cream in mine was crumbly and chunky, which was immediately unpleasant in the mouth and also looked unappealing. Not at all creamy. When I asked, I was told it was due to the temperature difference. It must have been very chilled. So, both should have been affected... Unfortunately, I wasn't offered a replacement or an alternative, even though my iced coffee remained untouched after I spoke to them. So, it wasn't a pleasant, let alone customer-oriented, experience today... Conclusion: I'll prefer other places for the time being.

Although located on a campsite, the food and service are anything but camping. We love it! Excellent food, very friendly service, and, especially in summer, a lovely, peaceful atmosphere outside on the terrace, surrounded by greenery.

We ate there on the last day of our stay. Unfortunately, I've rarely eaten such a nice and delicious meal. The service was absolutely on point, a true original and very polite. Very high-quality cuisine. Everything was fresh and lovingly prepared. You can taste it. Not cheap, but good value for money. Next time, we'll definitely go earlier.

Would you recommend this place? I highly recommend it to everyone. A lovely, peaceful atmosphere, extremely friendly and pleasant service and people, the food... Absolutely amazing. Definitely a feast for the eyes and the palate. But go there and see for yourself. We will definitely do it again. 10 out of 5 stars, definitely.

The burger I ordered was awful. The meat was still half raw, but the cheese was thick as a shoe sole. The slice of cheese was brown and I couldn't even cut it. It was definitely a melted and cooled slice that had been recycled. No one asked how the food was, and by the time I left the table for a moment, my plate had already been cleared away. It wasn't mentioned when ordering that the meat be served medium-rare. The server could have asked about that. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the cheese. Then they would have seen that it wasn't a misperception on my part.

How lucky that "Helmut" exists. For me, as a picky eater due to a bowel condition, it's always a bit more difficult to go out to eat. But here, it was made possible thanks to incredibly genuine and warm service. The braised ox cheeks were incredible, a 12/10, and prepared in such a way that I could eat them. Everyone else was also very happy with their chosen dishes; everything looked incredibly good. The portions were very generous and the dishes artfully presented; everything was fresh and homemade. We'll definitely be back!!! P.S. I'd love to have a chat with the wonderful waiter. He lives his job, is very professional, and has a voice like something from an audiobook :-) P.P.S. The menu is worth a thorough read; someone has really put a lot of thought into it...from the foreword to the children's menu. It's worth it... REALLY! ;-)

I'm quite happy with the food. But not with the service. First, I have to wait a few minutes before being seated. But after I've indicated I want to pay and the waiter calls out "a minute," he then serves others six more times, chats with other customers, brings the payment terminal back inside, and comes to us with what we want. And then he yells at us about not leaving a tip. Can someone please educate that waiter? In response to your answer: what do you think? I'd rather cycle 15 minutes to find another restaurant!

Very good food. Excellent service. Beautiful outdoor area. Overall, highly recommended. The menu even includes dog dishes. 😉

June 25: The after-Christmas BBQ bingo at Restaurant Helmut was a real highlight, in the middle of summer yet with a touch of Christmas! As soon as you entered the festively decorated hall, the mood immediately lifted: the scent of mulled wine, Christmas music, and loving details created the perfect blend of summer evening and winter feeling. The barbecue buffet was simply sensational, with something for everyone, from surf 'n' turf to grilled vegetables. And then the bingo! Exciting, entertaining, and with great prizes, we cheered, laughed, and even won. A wonderfully quirky, creative event that was simply fun. Thanks to the Helmut team for this unforgettable evening; we're already looking forward to the next time! December 24: Helmut & Ilse's Christmas magic in front of Restaurant Helmut is an absolute insider tip! Lovingly organized by the restaurant, this small, fine Christmas market offers a wonderful atmosphere with charmingly decorated stalls and a great selection of handmade products and delicacies. The warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with the hospitality of Helmut and Ilse, makes this Christmas market something truly special. Perfect for enjoying the pre-Christmas season in a relaxed manner and perhaps finding a special gift or two. A visit is definitely worth it!

Live like God in Balin!! As a native Berliner, I know those hot, summer days spent by the lake until you get ravenously hungry. Heinrich Zille had just painted a picturesque picture of Berlin folk life on Gross-Glienicke Lake, and now, following our brilliant idea, we're sitting at "Helmut's" campsite, ordering dinner. And, catching the last of asparagus season, I follow the charming waiter's recommendation to order an asparagus burger with wedges. Since mayonnaise isn't available in a tube or plastic sachet, but in a separate little pot, I do so. A delicious herb crème fraîche accompanies it without asking. The wedges are crispy and well-seasoned. The burger was a dream: tall, finely toasted, precisely cooked, and smothered in cheese as if this work of art were a muse of Salvador Dali. And then tender asparagus inside. In a burger. Fantastic! The second large, freshly tapped Pilsner also tasted excellent, and it was fun to think that the gas cartridges on the camping stoves were running dry around us. We ordered a dessert of our own: double Baileys on vanilla ice cream. My partner in crime suggested the title "Baileys Vanilla Float." I was for "Havel Baileys on ice." A lizard scampered across "Helmut's" terrace, but left the male Rhodesian Ridgeback under the next table cold as ice. Our creation turned out to be the crowning glory of our culinary delight. "Oh my God!" or "Oh, my goodness!" To stay on topic. Everything has its price. Not least a midsummer Sunday at Juno in south Spandau at Glieni with two mouths to feed - best wishes!!! ❤️

Despite the restaurant not being very busy, I waited two hours for the food. Service was very nice. The location was cozy, but it got a bit cold outside while waiting, and there was no way to get inside.

This is very tasty. There is a nice selection. A little tip of the ock cheek. is a stunner. But you can also find something for those with a small appetite.

I had the great pleasure of celebrating at this location today and enjoying a great evening. Even a large celebration group did not pose any problems for the operator in terms of service, which was extremely friendly. What I can definitely recommend is the grill buffet and a nice mix of salads and snacks, all of which were presented very attractively. I didn't take any photos, I preferred to eat. There are some on the website. So thank you again to the operator and his employees and keep it up, I'll be happy to come back.

A wonderful restaurant, finally with beautifully set tables, very professional service (learned is learned!), tastefully decorated and very good German cuisine! Very good and freshly cooked, also beautifully prepared (the eye eats with it😉). The prices were very reasonable for this good quality, you're happy to spend a little more than in mainstream restaurants! Big praise!

What a great restaurant in Kladow. The food was super tasty and of very high quality. All portions also looked really nicely prepared. We were four adults and four children. Everyone was thrilled. The service was humorous and very attentive, and the children were also taken into account. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back!

Rarely have we eaten so incredibly well. Even a detour is worth eating here. Absolutely and again at any time. From service to cuisine, everything was perfect!

Reading all the good reviews, I think we must have had a bad day. Our goose leg tasted ok and was also crispy, but unfortunately it was firm and dry. The potato dumplings had a rubbery consistency. Our mistake was that we didn't complain straight away and so our friendly criticism was acknowledged with a shrug of the shoulders. Too bad...

Animals are sentient beings that deserve respect and appreciation. They are worth far more than any cheap, tasteless advertising.

An absolute recommendation for Kladow and the surrounding area. Even after moving to Krampnitzer Weg, the high quality of the food and loving preparation has remained. We were once again very satisfied. Thanks to the entire team, we would love to come back.

Very tasty food, very nice service, quiet location

Wow, just great!! We sat outside in the comfortably furnished garden and it was very quiet around us. The restaurant is part of the campsite, at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday we were the only guests. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food came reasonably quickly. It was incredibly beautifully presented and was just fun to enjoy. There was a variation of Königsberger Klopse called "Königliche Kugel" for my loved one and for me the strawberry dumpling, a dessert with strawberry-mint salad and a dumpling with strawberries. Everything excellent.

We came here spontaneously from Bavaria because we viewed a caravan on site and then bought it. The service and food are second to none. The cuisine is not only visually fascinating, but also because of what is put on the plate. You notice that there is a master at work here who has really learned his craft. Top quality, top taste, top service! We will be back.

Waren schon öfters im Restaurant essen. Ob Frühjahr, Sommer, Herbst oder Winter. Jedesmal ein gaumenschmaus der Extraklasse. Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet und regional. Es schmeckt immer, die Gerichte sind mit herzblut gekocht, der Service sehr familiär. Hier fühlt man sich sehr wohl. Wir kommen immer sehr gerne. Egal ob zum Mittagessen oder zum Abendessen oder wie letztens zum Grill-Abend.

The restaurant and the landlord are great... Such a brilliant concept! Everything is prepared tip top and absolutely fresh! We can recommend this location unconditionally! And one more thing, it simply costs a few euros more if you don't take anything out of the bag or frozen! And we were happy to pay those few euros! We are absolutely amazed😀🥹

High-quality food where you don't necessarily expect it: on the edge of a campsite. The hike from Kladow towards Berlin or from Groß Glienicke towards Potsdam is worth it. Well fortified, the way back is twice as much fun! And if a big meal is too much for you, you can get a baguette or cake, ice cream or coffee next door.

Located at the entrance to a large camping site and with indoor and outdoor seating. The food tasted good and the classic-looking German menu is a little misleading, as some of the dishes are quite modern.

Top offers and quality. Staff and service very competent and friendly. Prices reasonable. The surrounding area invites you to relax and take a walk.

We were able to hold our festive evening here at the Easter meeting of the Saxony Anhalt regional association, organized by the Lappwald-Vagabunden camping club. The team around Mirko gave us great hospitality and decorated the tables and the hall very nicely. The cold and warm buffet was absolutely amazing. Superbly prepared and presented. Very tasty and extremely generous. The breakfast on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday was also excellent. All in all, it was a pleasure.

Wow!!! More than just delicious. It is a pure experience for the taste buds. The menu is very creative and the food is beautifully prepared. Here is someone with their whole heart. The service is great and everyone is warmly welcome. Price-performance ratio is absolutely appropriate. Even the furry friends were thought of.

We have known the location for many years and were more than positively surprised at how a restaurant on the campsite can be changed for the better. The dishes are really great, the quality and how they are prepared are great. We don't currently have anything like that in Kladow. In addition, the price/performance ratio is really really good. Added to this is the hospitality, a huge thank you for the lovely evening. The dishes for four-legged friends are also great.

Very good offer, a little more expensive than other restaurants, veal liver with mashed potatoes and fried apple rings, the food was cooked to perfection and very well seasoned and plentiful even if it didn't look like it on the plate. Unfortunately I had two tendons in my liver, for which the owner immediately apologized when spoken to. The price is higher but everything is beautifully prepared and served with a lot of love. The food was very good and the price was appropriate for the location. The staff and service were very friendly and nice and even joked around a bit, it's definitely worth eating there if you don't have to pay attention to the euro.

Not only is there high-quality and delicious food for the palate, it is also a feast for the eyes. The delicious tomato soup, the excellent liver and the fine Havel pike-perch were on the table today. The desserts were also extremely tasty. Strawberry dumplings, dumplings like this have never been presented before, a dream. Likewise the iced mousse. All in all, a great and interesting kitchen with a great staff. This beautiful and friendly restaurant is a real asset to Spandau / Kladow. The dishes are visually exceptional and taste excellent and are prepared and presented to an extremely high standard. The price is completely okay, given the quality offered. Our full recommendation!

Celebrated my 60th at Helmut's. I ordered a buffet and it was really great. All guests were satisfied, it was very generous. The fish was gone the quickest. Nice service and good price-performance ratio. I can only recommend this location.

Wow... what an excellent Christmas menu including a little surprise with extra wishes. We went to Restaurant Helmut with our parents for Christmas Day and had a lovely lunch. On this day, the owner once again came up with something extravagant for his guests. On the one hand, according to their special request, there was an unusual dessert filled with chocolate balls with gingerbread parfait and mulled wine plums with baked apple crumble. Such a surprise at the table is of course a blast. These 15 euros more were definitely worth it. I saw it in the restaurant in the fall when a guest proposed marriage, and I really wanted it. And the other highlight of the Christmas holidays, on these days, the father-in-law and daughter of Grandpa Helmut and Grandma Ilse work with the grandchild in person in the restaurant and give the traditional Tash from the family business. Just enjoy it, everything doesn't always have to be served straight away. At the end of the day, we drank a delicious liqueur from Grandma Ilse. Thank you, dear team from Restaurant Helmut, for allowing us to be your guests! We wish you a happy new year and are happy that you exist. We will certainly come back and more often.

We had made a reservation there for the Christmas menu and had also informed us in advance that a vegetarian and a child would be there. We were confirmed by email that it would be no problem to respond to these requests. Unfortunately, the courses didn't say that the starter was orange and chestnut soup with salmon, or they forgot to leave it out for the veggie version. The main entrance was quite salty, generally with the venison goulash, but almost unacceptable with the veggie goulash. The ambience was quite good and the dessert was very tasty. All the dishes looked very nice. Unfortunately, we had the feeling that they wanted to do great cooking but had forgotten the basics like proper seasoning and good service!

We had the Christmas menu (3 courses) and were very satisfied! It was nice that there was enough time between courses to chat (for the smokers to take a smoke break 😉) and that the next course wasn't served immediately. So it remained a cozy meal. The dessert was great and the highlight at the end of the meal. We are already looking forward to the new ideas from the kitchen team in the new year 2024!

Went to the restaurant again on Sunday and were impressed by the cuisine and the service. In keeping with the cold season, we chose the dishes from the pre-Christmas menu. My wife had the duck breast fillet with potato gratin and I had the braised venison goulash with bread dumplings and cranberries. Add a delicious red wine and the culinary feast could begin. We were thrilled and the more than generous dark sauce went perfectly with the chosen dishes. For dessert there was the delicious mulled wine dumpling, which crowned the successful menu. We can only recommend the restaurant to everyone who appreciates very good cuisine and courteous service. Thank you for the lovely evening. Grit and Frank

It was quite pleasant. It was a shame that the black ice at the entrance was not removed.

Wir waren jetzt 2 mal dort essen. Zu erwähnen wäre noch, dass das Restaurant sich auf einem Campingplatz befinden. Das ist jetzt nicht das Problem, aber die Preise und das Angebot im Restaurant sind aus meiner Campersicht dann doch mehr als fragwürdig. Wie sollen sich junge Familien und Zelter das leisten können? Beim ersten Besuch haben wir den Burger probiert. Die Qualität war gut und er hat geschmeckt. Aber mal ehrlich, ein Burger mit Pommes für 21 € ist preislich schon mehr als heftig. Beim 2. Besuch haben wir den Flammkuchen mit Tomaten gegessen und einen Salat mit (laut Karte) Caesar Dressing. Der Flammkuchen war gut (13 €!), der Salat kam mit einem Joghurt Dressing. Auf Nachfrage wurde gesagt: bei uns ist der Parmesan auf dem Dressing. Ich glaube ich muss jetzt nicht großartig erklären, dass ein richtiges Caesar Dressing eindeutig kein Joghurt Dressing mit Parmesan darauf ist. Ansonsten war der Salat gut gewesen, es war auch eine reichliche Portion Geflügelfleisch dabei. Aus meiner Sicht sollte die Speisekarte auf einem Campingplatz zumindest auch ein paar günstige Gerichte enthalten um dem Querschnitt der Campinggesellschaft gerecht zu werden. Im übrigen esse ich auch gerne hochwertig und teuer, dann aber in einem entsprechenden Ambiente, sehr gerne mit einer schönen Aussicht oder Wasserblick.

Waren im Frühsommer da und wurden so toll von dem.älteren Kellner bedient.. nun war er leider beim neuen Vesuch nicht mrhr da.. ich hoffe es geht ihm gut. Essen hat leider auch nachgelassen. Nicht richtog heiss und der Desser Keisrrschmarrn nicht so gut.

Der Service ist super. Der Rest war für uns enttäuschend. Schade !

Lecker, freundlich und gemütlich. Für uns ist es immer wieder im wahrsten Sinne ein Genuss, hier essen zu gehen. Absolut hochwertige Küche zu völlig angemessenen Preisen, gemütliche Terrasse, nette und zuvorkommende Bedienung, die auch bei manch 'nervigem' Gast immer freundlich ist. Und meine Rhabarber-Schorle ist fast immer da :-)

Das war mal eine Überraschung 🤩. Nichtsahnend geht man auf einem Campingplatz ins Restaurant und wird sooooo überrascht. Das Essen war suuuuper lecker und wurde wunderschön angerichtet. Wie in einem 5 ⭐️ Restaurant!!! Der Kellner (erster Tag heute 😉) war phantastisch. Sehr freundlich und zu einem Scherz aufgelegt. Auch der anschließende Plausch mit dem Chef war schön. Man merkt einfach: Hier wird der Gast geschätzt. Danke für den leckeren und netten Abend. Wir kommen wieder 👍🏽😉

Kann man nur weiterempfehlen, sehr leckeres Essen mit hoher Qualität. Super freundliches Personal. Selbst die 4-Beiner werden herzlich empfangen und mit frischenm Wasser versorgt. Komme sehr gerne wieder . Alles bestens. Weiter so.

Wir hatten dort zum Frühstück reserviert. Wäre nicht nötig gewesen, wir waren die einzigen Gäste. Das Frühstück kam schnell und sah auf den ersten Blick auch gut aus. Allerdings waren die Teller überladen mit Obst unterschiedlicher Qualität. Das Mett war Zwiebelmettwurst. Könnte man auch so auf die Karte schreiben. Wurst und Käse von geringer Qualität, Discounter Ware. Kalte Milch wurde als heiße Schokolade berechnet. Der Betreiber fordert Respekt für das Personal ein. Respektvollen Umgang mit Gäste sollte selbstverständlich sein. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend. Die Qualität des Frühstücks entspricht dem nicht. Antwort an den Betreiber: Der Kochschinken ist einfachstes Formfleisch. Bauernsalami und die übrigen Wurst sind Billigware. Zwiebelmettwurst und Mett sind auch in Berlin zwei verschiedene Sachen. Warum halbwelker Rukola auf dem Teller lag ist mir unklar. Die Kirschen hatten das beste schon länger hinter sich. Wenn nebenan eine Bäckerei mit Sonntagsöffnung ist könnten auch die Brötchen besser sein . Ein Glas kalte Milch als heiße Schokolade zu buchen weil die Kasse es nicht anders kann ist nicht in Ordnung. Das Frühstück ist seinen Preis nicht wert. Für über 70 Euro bekommen wir in anderen Häusern einen viel besseren Brunch.

Hemut kocht auf sehr gut, geschmackliche tolle Gerichte, gepaart mit aufmerksamen, freundlichen Service. Auch wenn es auf einem Campingplatz Kladow Berlin liegt, ist das Restaurant absolut empfehlenswert.

Eine superschöne Location, total liebe, freundliche Bedienung und ein Essen zum Dahinschmelzen. Man merkt dem Essen an, dass da mit Liebe gekocht wird. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend, wir kommen wieder !!!

Gut Essen auf einem Campingplatz? Geht das? Antwort: Ein klares JA! Wer hier Fertigschnitzel aus der Friteuse für 8,99€ erwartet, sollte direkt weitergehen. Gute, solide Speisen, einfach klasse Handwerk ist hier angesagt. Das Kalbsschnitzel wird frisch geklopft zubereitet und schmeckt hervorragend ... das gilt auch für die anderen Gerichte. Meine Frau und ich waren auf jeden Fall rundum zufrieden. Die sehr engagierte, typisch berliner, Servicekraft rundete zudem den gelungenen Abend durch ihre positiv direkte Art ab. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
