Enchilada in Freiburg im Breisgau

Unfortunately the waiter was unfriendly ⭐☆☆☆☆ Unfortunately a very disappointing experience at Enchilada Freiburg. We were there around 5:15pm to take advantage of the NeoTaste offer (2 for 1). Happy hour was also running at the same time. When ordering, we kindly pointed out to the waiter (young, blonde, wearing a Tommy Hilfiger top, probably a student) that we would like to take advantage of the NeoTaste offer and politely asked whether a combination with happy hour was possible. This was immediately denied without any explanation. When we politely asked on what basis this was excluded, we were simply told: "That's just the way it is." We pointed out that the NeoTaste terms and conditions do not mention exclusion with happy hour - the reasoning was then changed and we said that it would say so in the enchilada menu itself. We checked that too and found no relevant information. From this point on, the waiter's attitude changed noticeably. He became annoyed, refused to discuss further and reacted increasingly unfriendly, including a sheepish smile. We just wanted a comprehensible explanation and instead we were treated condescendingly. The store was almost empty, so it couldn't have been due to stress. Ultimately we decided not to order anything and left. It's a shame because we've always enjoyed coming to Enchilada. As a former catering employee, I know that dealing with guests in a friendly and professional manner is crucial - even if there is a rule, you could have simply explained it politely or at least communicated it in a slightly more customer-oriented manner. Unfortunately, it was an absolutely disappointing experience that we will remember negatively for a long time. Too bad

📍Very irritating what happened today: I have never experienced such disrespectful and presumptuous behavior from a waiter in my entire life. 02/3/25 at 5:15 p.m.: The young employee (light brown hair, Tommy Hilfiger shirt) at Enchilada Freiburg treated us in an extremely condescending manner after we politely asked whether the NeoTaste offer could be combined with happy hour. Instead of a professional and customer-oriented answer, we were greeted with sheepish smiles and snide comments. This kind of treatment of guests is absolutely unacceptable and has left me with a profoundly negative impression! We then left without ordering and will definitely not be returning. It's a shame for the enchilada, because everything has always been wonderful until today.

Enchilada is certainly a location that invites you to linger, culinary, ambience, service, guests... worth a trip.

Unfortunately, this time the visit to the enchilada in Freiburg was very disappointing. Two out of three meals (Chicken Bowl and Enchiladas Vegetarianas) were not at all convincing. We returned most of it and the fact that the very friendly waitress didn't ask if it tasted good speaks volumes for me. I don't think we will come back again.

Never had such a delicious meal at a Mexican restaurant! The food, the staff and the restaurant are simply wonderful.🤩 Our enchiladas were so delicious, we almost ate two even though we were full. The dessert (churros) was so delicious, every bite was warm & fresh. The non-alcoholic cocktails are also simply delicious. All in all it was great and we will come back here on our next vacation!✨

As always, the food was a 10/10, the price was a little higher than in other restaurants, but very good food has its price, so it's more than good. There is a large selection of Mexican dishes. What we ordered was delicious. The restaurant is cozy, although a bit too dark for my taste.

Food tasted good, was less compared to others and a bit expensive. Tables were too small. Needed more space. A little louder for me, I couldn't have a good conversation, but that's a matter of opinion.

Hands down to one of the best burrito, I had in recent times!! Absolutely loved the stuffing inside, tried buritto Chimichura. What a combination of stuffing inside with quinoa, black beans, and crown on top is the frittere mais!! Would love to go to this spot again❤️

The restaurant really impressed us with its stylish decor and great atmosphere. The menu is varied and fits the popular style perfectly - the starter plate in the first picture is particularly recommended and gives an exciting insight into the different flavors. The 1.5 liter cocktails are also a humorous gimmick and put you in a good mood. The main course, as you can see in the second and third pictures, was excellently seasoned and tasted really great! The “Enchiladas Pollo” in particular was spicy but pleasantly balanced – a highlight! However, the portion would have been a bit tight without the starter and a break for digestion. Unfortunately, there were some organizational weaknesses during our visit: Despite a reservation, we had to wait a long time, and the first waiter seemed a bit inattentive, while the second was very friendly and attentive. It was also a bit too warm in the restaurant, which affected the stay a little. Conclusion: If you want to enjoy a nice ambience and excellent food, you will definitely find what you are looking for here. It's worth it, even if the portions are on the smaller side for the price.

You have to go if you are in Freiburg. On Mondays the price of the cocktails is diced, it couldn't be better. The food is great, as is the service.

Great place with amazing homemade drinks and great food.

We were there for the second time. The menu is more than sufficient. The dishes tasted good and the quantity was sufficient. Definitely better than the enchilada en FDS. In my opinion the cocktail (non-alcoholic) had a bit too many ice cubes but was still “ok”. The service was friendly, we were there with our baby and unfortunately we were not offered a plate, chair or anything else for the baby. We had a tupperware container that we used as a plate and we had to get the chair ourselves. I didn't think it was that great, but it can happen. Although there was a lot going on on Saturday evening, it was still possible to have a good time. I think it's bad that dogs are allowed in the restaurant. My daughter is terrified of dogs and there were women sitting next to us with a huge dog that kept crawling under my husband's chair. I myself am very tolerant (although allergic to animal hair) but there are other guests who might feel bothered by it.

In my opinion the best pub in Freiburg. Absolutely recommended, starting from the ambience, service and happy hour every day.

It took about 50 minutes for our food to arrive. Since my drink was of course already empty, I ordered a beer as soon as the food came. Unfortunately the beer didn't come. When the waitress wanted to clear away our empty plates, I pointed this out to her and ultimately canceled the beer. That's better. The food is mediocre, especially when it comes to the Plato Mexicano, I would recommend that the owner go next door to El Gallo to see what a Plato Mexicano looks like.

Unfortunately, I accidentally spilled a drink this evening just before paying. The waiter refused to accept my money because he said “the wet money would mess up his wallet.” Ah yes, in the future he can also pick up his dry license from me, it just costs a tip 😊

The food is not bad, but the service is. Our waiter was able to look away at our work. Walked close to our table about 50 times during our stay for no reason at all. He probably wanted to pretend he was busy. However, tables further than ours were not occupied. Once we paid we were out of the picture and he almost knocked us over. I have never had a bigger farmer as a waiter. So you don't want it from the staff.

We were quite disappointed with the overall quality of the food, the wait time and the service. We arrived at around 7:30 PM, the restaurant was relatively full, we didn’t think it would take long to get our food though, because of guests around us getting their food quite quickly. We sadly had to wait close to an hour for the food to arrive, the starter came at the same time as the main course and the quality of the food wasn’t good. We got burgers and both of them were grilled to death. No flavor at all and the meat was really hard to eat. We were hoping for a nice evening but were disappointed. Probably won’t eat there again.

Everything's great! Food tasted very good, freshly cooked with good ingredients. Ideal if you want to eat something high-quality late in the evening. We'll definitely be back!

Our phones did not work well with the scanned code and they did not have any printed menus in English. We sat for a longer than usual time before the server took our drink order. Then a second server came and asked if we wanted drinks. Unusual. Server was slow in bringing drinks. Be aware the ‘new-meat’ listed on the menu is a plant based ‘meat’ option. We didn’t try it. Ordered chips and salsa which were good but chips, in my opinion, were a little salty. Guacamole,salsa and chipotle mayo were good dippers. We both ordered a beef burrito which was small, compared to American standards but still filling. Menus were left on the table for half of the time after we ordered. My wife could not find sangria listed on the menu. Ordered a second round of drinks but we were finished with our meal before they showed up. Food was tasty but the service is very slow.

We were greeted very warmly with good service, the food was top, especially the crispy cauliflower tacos were very tasty and the atmosphere and interior design made us feel very comfortable, 10/10!!

I had dinner and a few cocktails with friends at Enchilada last week. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince me 100%. The bartender really did a top job with the cocktails - he was a young, thin man. I have rarely had such good cocktails. But the highlight of the evening was our waitress, a young, good-looking man with glasses. He had a very likeable manner about him that immediately put you in a good mood. In addition, he always has an excellent instinct to ensure that we are always well looked after. I have to say that I have rarely had such good service, so kudos goes to this young man with glasses. I hope he will see this review.

Food: Quality is okay, doesn't match Mexican cuisine but tastes good. Happy hour cocktails work well. Service: was very good and really friendly. Ambiance: You sit in front of the cathedral between the Ring and Bus Verlehr.

A very good and tasty restaurant. Inexpensive and great and nice service. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning or a fan on this hot day🙈 it worked, but was still a bit hot. The cocktails were very good, especially the Frozen Virgin Strawberry Margarita was delicious. I can only recommend it!

The food is mediocre, so the price-performance ratio is not right! If I order a beer with my meal at 10:35 p.m. and we're told that the beer tap can no longer deliver beer because it's closing time, I don't know whether to cry or laugh! We have never experienced such lousy service!

Service is nice but chaotic (no one is in charge and then everyone is) and slow even though it wasn't full. Food is tasty, but I didn't get full after 3 tacos. You cannot order additional tacos for €3 each, you can only order them in addition to a completely new portion. Unnecessarily bureaucratic? Happy hour from 10.30 p.m. for the last round is completely impractical. I'm disappointed. I remembered it better.

I'll make it short and painful, the food ranged between poor and nothing special, but the price wasn't that cheap. The service took a little longer, both to accompany us to the tables and to pay. Cocktails were cheap thanks to the dice promotion, but very stretched with ice. Conclusion: It doesn't have to be. Let's see if we'll give it a second chance.

We had an enchilada in Freiburg last Thursday and are still struggling with the after-effects. During the meal we both noticed a sour taste in both the nachos and the burrito, the burrito even tasted like alcohol had been poured on it (?) After our visit we both had stomach aches and diarrhea - something seemed to be wrong with the food. In any case, the enchilada won't see us again.

The food is wonderful and absolutely worth a visit! Unfortunately we weren't that impressed with the service. When we arrived the situation was unclear because we first had to look for someone who could offer us a place. The service seemed a bit absent, but the food came quickly. Unfortunately, at the end we had to wait 30-40 minutes for the churros, which was a bit of a shame. Still a nice location and good food!

Very good Mexican food great atmosphere

Service was alright but not very motivated. The much bigger issue is that the food isn’t customizable as in, you can’t take ingredients off as you please since it all seems to be pre-made. That resulted in me getting tacos with ingredients I just didn’t like and in just not eating most of them. If you want fresh Mexican food you’d better go someplace else.

This is the first time that I think 5 deaths aren't enough. We wanted to try something new that we had never eaten before, so we went to this restaurant. The ambience is perfect, large, great colors, illuminated signs, pretty tables and a nice bar. The range of drinks is varied and large. The food too. I had something like a “tasting platter” and everything tasted original and good and was very nicely prepared. Our service staff was also very nice, asked questions and was friendly. The prices are worth it and are reasonable for the portions. The homemade lemonades are also very good.

Süßkartoffelpommes meiner Tochter dunkel, kalt und labbrig. Statt Crispy Chicken ein anderes Fleisch erhalten, über 19€ ohne Beilagen- zudem nicht definierbar. Das Personal sollte besser zuhören wenn man bestellt Burger von meinem Mann lieblos, zu fettig und überteuert ( Da bekommt man in gewissen Fast Food Läden bessere Burger) Meine Tacos waren ebenso kalt. Wenn man überteuert und ohne jegliche Beilagen, lieblos angerichtetes Essen möchte, ist man hier richtig. Nicht zu empfehlen. Getränke waren ok, deshalb 1 Stern.

Went to Enchilada again after a long time and were unfortunately a bit disappointed. The service was friendly, but not particularly fast. Drinks took a long time, while you had the impression that the bar staff took it easy... it couldn't have been due to stress. It also took a long time to clean up the neighboring table; the new guests had to sit at a table that was initially not cleaned. We also remembered the food better. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. For the price we expected more, both in terms of taste and portion size. Probably won't be back any time soon. It's a shame, we used to enjoy being there...

A nice evening with friends in a welcoming environment

I've eaten at Enchilada several times in the last year and haven't been disappointed once. I was completely satisfied with the service: What has to be noted positively is that the service pays attention to small things such as a disinfectant wipe that you can use to wipe your hands before eating finger food or simply the small sweets that come with the bill come. The food is also highly recommended: very tasty and easy to digest. In my opinion the best sweet potato fries you can get in Freiburg and I personally am also a big fan of the tacos and the enchiladas. The homemade iced tea is also highly recommended. At peak times it actually gets a bit noisy inside, but that's not particularly important for me. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. Clear recommendation.

Really Mexican, only the waitress who served us (very friendly and helpful) but it's a good version of Tex-Mex food and we were satisfied - we were a relatively large group of about 10 people. We would definitely go again, the cocktails were delicious.

VERY EXPENSIVE. Not worth it. For the same money you can eat much better in other places. A plate with 10 nachos and a little cheese €10. Enchiladas for 1 person €15 and you will stay hungry. Cocktails for €10… crazy.

Enchilada is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. There is a large selection of Mexican dishes that can be combined with various side dishes using the menu. Unfortunately, it is very loud inside, making it difficult to have a conversation. However, the food tastes very good.

The restaurant usually doesn't look anything special, but it doesn't make you wonder where I am. The food, on the other hand, simply tastes modest. I had Borito and it tasted like hand disinfectant had been put in it. The chilli-cheese fries were very simply made. I could have done it better at home. And the price is technically completely excessive for the size and taste of the food. Overall, I wouldn't go there again.

We were there 3 times during our stay in Freiburg. We absolutely loved the food, staff and ambience. The waitress came to our table very quickly and the drinks and food were ready in no time. It tasted delicious, the staff was very attentive and super nice. Only recommended!!

Sehr unfreundliches, arrogantes und überhebliches Personal! Hier wird man, warum auch immer, von oben herab behandelt. Der Laden ist doch ein normaler Laden, keine Sternebude. Der Caipirinha wird ohne Rohrzucker gemacht, das Steak ist kalt…keine Empfehlung!

I used to be really addicted to enchilada food. The price-performance ratio is now so bad that I won't be there anymore. Mini portions for exorbitant prices, an endless waiting time and the ambience reminded me of a train station hall. Paid almost €100 and my family was still hungry. Never again

Inexperienced waiters, it took them a long time to serve us. Spicy food without warning for the children and on top of that they charge you for glasses of water at €3.70… a place that I do not recommend even as a joke…

The ambience and service are ok, unfortunately the buritto was nothing. Burgers are ok.

We were with a group of 10 people and our waitress several times was trying to take our drinks unfinished. My girlfriend & I ordered 2 mains, 1 side and 4 drinks. At the end of the evening we asked for two glasses of tap water and she charged us 6.40 EUR for tap water! Yep, you guessed it right - no price is mentioned in the menu, nor did she mention it to us that it cost, and that high! Nor that there is an option for a pitcher for much cheaper. I really don't understand why would the service needs to be so bad & why would a restaurant steal on something like free tap water from customers that already spend so much money there... Upsetting.

As always, very good food. Great dishes, nice service. Both meals were well prepared and you were completely full afterwards.

The food was okay, the service was also good, it’s a one time go restaurant but not too much that I could hype about. The taste was fine but wasn’t that great.

I'm not a fan of tacos etc. but it was really tasty here. The outside area is currently being remodeled. A bit crowded and noisy in the restaurant, but acceptable. Right in town. A parking garage directly below.

6 male employees and 21 customers. Time 11:40 p.m., the room was very clear. The staff were unable to bring us a drinks menu, we got these ourselves. Ordering the cocktails also took a while. When asked whether it would be possible to get some snacks with the cocktails, this was answered in the negative. The kitchen crew had already gone home because there wasn't much going on. The kitchen is officially open until midnight. Ask? Why do you need a kitchen crew to get snacks? Even when the drinks were finally served at the bar, the staff were unable to serve them to us. Instead of serving, employees prefer to play a dice game.

Delicious food and great service! We were there with 14 people as part of a bachelor party and certainly not the easiest guests! The service employee, Frida, was very patient and polite and gave us very good advice on choosing our food and drinks. You could tell that she was passionate about her job and we felt very comfortable there! We would like to thank the entire service team and the kitchen for a successful evening and can fully recommend the enchilada. Thanks!

Omdat we niet gereserveerd hadden, want net aangekomen in Freiburg, zijn we hier op goed geluk naartoe gewandeld. Uiteraard zat het restaurant op zaterdagavond goed vol maar gelukkig konden we nog een plekje aan de bar krijgen. Ik moet zeggen dat ik de kritische reacties niet helemaal herken want het eten was goed en we konden nog net een cocktail tijdens het happy hour bestellen. Ja de muziek staat wat luider en met groepen jongeren is het dan erg rumoerig maar dat is te verwachten in een studentenstad. Voor ons was het dan ook een prima keuze voor een lekkere Mexico maaltijd.

Precisely because Karlsplatz is one of the ugliest squares in Freiburg, it is all the more surprising to find such an attractive location in this area. Food delicious, good and manageable selection, drinks cold. What more do you want....
