Cozy. Friendly service, food is very good and the dishes have become 1 euro more expensive so you can't complain

As always, everything was delicious and the service was perfect

Delicious food and friendly and attentive service. The steaks were cooked correctly as requested and the plates came out of the kitchen promptly despite the larger group. We were satisfied and would like to come back.

The food was really worth 5*, compliments to the kitchen. The ambience in the right part was ok but not as good as in the left part. Our table for 4 was completely unsuitable for 4 adults as it was much too narrow. A chair could not be pushed back due to steps. In total 3*. Service was distantly cool. The typical side salad is rarely included here, mayonnaise is 70 cents! You have to pay for each bag of mint and you wait in vain for the “schnapps on the house”. Conclusion: Food is great, service and pricing still have room for improvement.

The newly renovated restaurant has a modern and tasteful ambience. Our meat was "okay" but not great. All supplements are subject to an additional charge. The portions are rather small, the fried potatoes are greasy, the fries are unsalted. In relation to the price category, it just doesn't fit. The service was pushy and abrupt. There is also no typical country nightcap from the house. As a guest you feel ripped off for average food. The price is top shelf and doesn't match the performance at all.

Inexpensive, tasteful and very friendly. I'd be happy to come back any time I'm in Bochum. Good lunch menu.

A very good steakhouse....eaten 4 different dishes...2 from the menu... The greeting from the kitchen...vegetable soup was simply great Everything TOP... Anytime again...we'll be visiting and later at Starlight Express....

Nothing special except the price.

We were here again and were just as fascinated by the El Rancho record as before. The steaks were hot, medium rare and deliciously seasoned - to die for. The staff was again super attentive. If we're in North Rhine-Westphalia again, we'd love to take a detour!

You want a delicious meal; nice ambience; friendly, attentive and fast service, then visit El Rancho! We have been guests in the restaurant several times - always great service and quality of the food!! At the weekend there were 12 of us - despite the full restaurant - the drinks and food we ordered were delivered by the friendly staff in a short time! Kudos to the entire staff at El Rancho for a lovely evening!!

The food isn't bad. I've experienced worse. But the service/waiters are extremely unpleasant and difficult to tolerate. They don't even bother to appear friendly. Very unfortunate.

This was our first time here, we had 3x beef fillet 300g and normal grill plates, all meat products were of very good quality, Everything tasted good Small point deduction, the vegetable side dishes were all softly cooked and unfortunately no longer had any bite. Too bad 😢 Still recommended

Unfortunately only 3 stars because you can't pay €17.90 for a Cordon Bleu without any side dishes. Without vegetables and without fries, had to pay €4.50 extra, just for fried potatoes, large drinks are served in 0.3l glasses????

Very tasty steakhouse. Prices steep. Fillet steak with fries as a side dish totals around 38 euros. Wheat beer 5.20 euros. But very tasty and great restaurant. Staff very friendly.

Wow what a great stay we had with you😍🥰👍so love and warm waiters. It's also very quick and there's also time for a joke or two when it's served. Even though we were there shortly before closing time, we never had the feeling that they wanted to get rid of us. Apart from that, the food tasted really good. So all thumbs up 👍 you are really a 10 out of 10 🥰👍

The service was quick and courteous. Nice, simple atmosphere, which is not meant in a negative way. The dishes were tasty and on point. Everything freshly prepared. The prices may not seem cheap, but the quality of the food and meat makes up for it. Quality has its price.

The food was mediocre. I've eaten better and worse steaks. The prices are also too high for what you get. Other steakhouses are just as good, but significantly cheaper. The waiter was unfriendly and bad-tempered. Even though we paid over €200, the waiter didn't want to accept visas. This is really pathetic in my opinion. I won't go there again. There are simply too many better alternatives.

Tried a very, very tasty platter for two. The steak was on point and tasted overwhelming. The service was nice and courteous. The ambience was very nice, very cozy and suitable for a steakhouse! Always my pleasure!

Overall I had a good experience. The food (beef, beans, potatoes) was very tasty and the steak was cooked perfectly. That's how it has to be. The atmosphere has been refreshed, although the white brick arches from 30 years ago still do their job in the interior. The waiter was a bit rude, could have been a bit more sympathetic. But everything was nice and quick.

A steak platter with 7 small pieces of meat and some vegetables for 2 people: We ordered "medium to well done". 3 pieces were burnt on the outside on 2 sides and were otherwise almost raw and had a consistency like carpaccio. The waiter justified this by saying that the pieces were all different thicknesses... Well then they should probably be fried for different lengths of time, right?

Very quick and polite service and extremely tasty food. I had the "Gaucho skewer", the meat was perfectly grilled and extremely deliciously seasoned.

While our visit to El Rancho left a lot to be desired, the ambience was at least passable. Unfortunately, the food reached our table almost cold, which significantly diminished both the enjoyment and the general expectation of a warm dish. The amount of the "platter for 2" also seemed insufficient to us, considering that as a guest you are both hungry and have a certain expectation of value for money. In addition, there was regrettably unfriendly service, which didn't exactly enrich our evening

Unfortunately, my experience at El Rancho was disappointing. Although the ambience was charming and inviting, the rest of the experience couldn't live up to it. When I ordered my steak, I was expecting a juicy medium-cooked piece of meat, but what I got instead was cold and nowhere near the doneness I wanted. The staff seemed rude and uninterested, which further detracted from the experience. Despite the appealing ambience, I cannot recommend El Rancho due to the cold steaks and the unfriendly staff. It's a real shame to go to Rodizio instead.

It's very difficult to find a fault here. Everything was great from start to finish. It's a strange question at the beginning as to whether you should pay with cash or card later, but everything was still great. -Super juicy medium rare steak. -Side dishes were also very tasty -Service very fast and reliable -Desserts also really tasty, I had the tiramisu, I can really recommend it. -The price is more than fair for what you get. In total we were there with a group of 4 people and it won't be our last visit there. Definitely the best steakhouse I've visited.

Wir zum Mittagessen um einen Geburtstag zu feiern, schon bei den Bestellung hat der Kellner gefragt wie wollen wir es bezahlen?? Dann sind wir ziemlich schnell abgefertigt worden, fastfood und schlechten Service. In einem Imbiss hat mann besser und freundlichen Service als in diesem Restaurant!

The waiter was friendly and the side dishes (as a main course) were very tasty. However, I can't say anything about the meat. I didn't order that because when I asked about the species-appropriate husbandry of the animals whose meat was served here, I was only answered that the animals were in Uruguay and that we didn't know how they were kept there. I would have expected that in a steakhouse with appropriate prices it would be known what ends up on the plate. Therefore the visit was very disappointing.

What can you say? Friendly welcome with accompaniment to the table, which is not always standard these days. We had already looked at the menu beforehand and that's why we chose the restaurant. The food was great! That's how we wanted our steaks and that's how they arrived. There was nothing to complain about. For dessert we treated ourselves to a pancake and tiramisu. The best steakhouse in Bochum. The meat is always fresh and perfectly prepared. Medium rare is really medium rare and is served on a hot plate. Delicious! A small disappointment is the generic-tasting white bread and the herb butter, which seemed rancid.

It was clean and actually a cozy atmosphere. But the gentleman we had at the table was very unfriendly. The first question was how we plan to pay. He hadn't even taken any drinks or anything. When he entered he seemed more annoyed than welcoming. We left the store again because I would have liked a little more friendliness for this price range of food. He shouldn't put us in the a... I assume cringing but niceness. We will definitely avoid the store in the future.

Das Essen war insgesamt okay aber nicht unbedingt etwas besonderes für ein Steakhouse in dieser Preisklasse. Bedienung ziemlich forsch, man hatte nicht das Gefühl ein willkommener Gast zu sein, sondern wurde schnell abgefertigt. Ich würde zukünftig ein anderes Steakhouse in der Bochumer Innenstadt vorziehen.

Das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm. Die Steaks waren sehr gut und das Essen ist relativ schnell gebracht worden, aber... Das Servicepersonal ist sehr auf Stammgäste fixiert, diese werden SEHR aufmerksam bedient. Wir gehören nicht dazu und mussten nach der Hauptspeise das Personal quasi heranwinken für weitere Getränke, Nachspeise oder zahlen. Wirklich beachtet wurden wir nicht. Als Nicht-Stammgäste VIEL Zeit mitbringen.

Gehobene Preise für beste Qualität, geschmacklich trifft es meinen Geschmack voll. Tolles Ambiente, aufmerksamer Service und der Chef ist auch vor Ort. Einfach Klasse! Immer wieder gerne 😋

Unfreundliches Personal, überteuerte Preise und schlecht gebratene Steaks. 38€ für ne Steakplatte, ohne Beilage und dann sind die Steaks nichtmal Medium gebraten worden sondern die Rinder gleich wieder auf die Wiese gelaufen, so roh war das Fleisch noch. Sorry, wer so viel Geld verlangt sollte es auch Können. Auf meinen Hinweis hin wurde es zurück in die Küche gebracht. Ich bekam die gleichen Steaks wieder ein paar Minuten zu meinen dann kalten Beilagen zurück und die Steaks waren komplett zäh und durch. Kellner ohne Freubdlichkeit tuen ihr übriges. Nie mehr !

Best Steakhouse in Town!! We tried several Steak Restaurant in a circle of 20Km in the past years, as well in other Citys nearby. But our comment: El Rancho is the best, beef quality is near Urugay Standard, I know what i Comment. As a starter we recommend the Shirpms with Sauce Hollandaise!!!

Wir waren am 26.12.2023 mit der Familie, 5 Erwachsene, zwei Kinder dort. Die Stimmung/Art der Mitarbeiter ist wirklich sehr schwer in Worte zu fassen: - vor 4 Monaten einen Tisch mit zwei Kinderstühlen bestellt, nur einen Kinderstuhl bekommen, welcher noch nicht mal am Tisch stand, auf Nachfrage ob der nun dort platziert werden könne -> eine Art Augenroller vom Mitarbeiter - Salat bestellt aber bitte ohne Tomaten -> ein Augenroller vom Mitarbeiter - unserem Sohn haben wir vom Kindermenü einen Burger bestellt worauf der Mitarbeiter in einem komischen Ton meinte -> ist aber hier nicht so einer wie bei McDonalds?!?!? - Hauptspeise kam, ein Steak, welches Medium bestellt war hatte eine sehr schwarze Kruste (auf dem ganzen Stück so überzogen), dieses ließen wir an die Küche zurückgehen ohne das irgendwas versucht wurde schön zu reden (und ich dachte dann noch: oh die sind aber nett!) dann der Oberknaller: das neue Steak wurde gebracht und der Kellner sagte tatsächlich, ich zitiere: „ich habe das Steak gerade aufgegessen, ich kann nicht verstehen warum sie dieses zurückgegeben haben, dort ist eine offene Flamme, das muss so schwarz sein!“ Also so eine asoziale Dreistigkeit gegenüber einem Gast habe ich noch nie gehört. Wie kann man so als Gastgeber mit einem Kunden umgehen???? Der ganze Aufenthalt (fast 2h) war mit so einem unterschwelligen Ton des Mitarbeiters überschattet, sodass mir persönlich es immer sehr unangenehm war als dieser zu unserem Tisch kam im Sinne von, was kommt jetzt wieder?! Wir saßen übrigens wenn man rein kommt sofort links auf der Seite zur Straße hin. Wen ich lobend erwähnen muss war die Dame, welche uns immer die Getränke gebracht hat, sehr höflich und immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht! Das Essen war an sich ganz gut, aber knapp 300€ für die 5 Erwachsenen (davon hat eine noch nicht einmal ein Stück Fleisch bestellt) finde ich persönlich viel zu überzogen. Ich habe mich noch nie in meinem Leben so sicher gefühlt keinen verdammten Cent Trinkgeld zu geben!!!! Ich kann dieses Lokal absolut niemanden weiterempfehlen. Grüße

Wir gehen nun schon seit vielen Jahren am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag in das Restaurant El Rancho in Bochum, so auch heute. Das Essen war ganz ordentlich. Der Service ein Desaster und an Unfreundlichkeit nicht mehr zu überbieten. Während meine Frau noch gegessen hat wurden die Teller vom Tisch abgeräumt, auch der Beilagen Teller meiner Frau war schon in den Händen des Kellners. Nachdem ich den Kellner darauf hingewiesen hatte, dass meine Frau noch isst, stelle er den Teller, ohne sich zu entschuldigen wieder auf den Tisch. Gegen 2030 Uhr bestellte ich noch ein Getränk. Die Flasche wurde mir einfach auf den Tisch "geknallt". Um 2045 wurden wir aufgefordert die Rechnung zu begleichen. Auf unsere Frage, wann das Restaurant schließt, wurde uns in patzigen Ton mitgeteilt, dass heute um 2100 Uhr geschlossen würde. Meine Frau bekam kein weiteres Getränk mehr. An den Nachbartischen beobachteten wir, dass anderen Gästen die Rechnung aufgenötigt wurde, noch während sie am Tisch aßen. Ich bat den Kellner um ein Gespräch mit dem Besitzer oder Geschäftsführer. Ca. 5 Min. später kam eine Frau an unseren Tisch. Diese ging gar nicht auf unser Anliegen ein sondern verwies lediglich auf Weihnachten, und die gestiegenen Kosten. Auf meine Frage, wann das Restaurant schließen würde, sagte sie mir, dass dies um 2100 der Fall sei, und man könne dies auch im Internet nachlesen. Nachdem Sie wieder gegangen war überprüften wir diese Aussage. Sowohl auf der Webseite als auch bei Tripadvisor wurde 2200 als die Zeit angegeben, in der das Restaurant schließt. Wir bezahlten und verließen gegen 2105 Uhr enttäuscht und verärgert das Restaurant. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren noch mehrere Tische im Restaurant mit Gästen besetzt. Für uns war dies definitiv der letzte Besuch in diesem unfreundlichen Restaurant.l

Total nette Kellner, Super Steaks toller Salat und eine leckere Folienkartoffel 😋aber die anderen Gerichte Grillteller usw sahen auch gut aus und haben den anderen geschmeckt. Heute mal zum Mittagsmenü da gewesen war Top vorweck noch eine Suppe gehörte zum Menü 👍 Heute mal wieder zum Mittagsmenü dort gewesen war wie immer Top. Gestern mal wieder zum Mittagsmenü dort gewesen was soll ich sagen Top wie immer.😋

Eines der Besten Steakhäuser in Bochum. Schönes Lokal und toller Service. Speisen sind immer köstlich!

Ich war von dem Fleisch auf meinem Grillteller enttäuscht . Es war für fast 19 Euro nicht so zart,wie ich es erwartet habe.

Der Service war sicher wegen der vielen Reservierungen gestresst, trotzdem sollte jeder Gast selbst entscheiden können, wann er geht und bezahlen möchte, zumal der Tisch nicht, wie in anderen Restaurants üblich zu dieser Zeit, doppelt belegt war! Sonst war ich angenehm überrascht, nach so vielen Jahren, war das El Rancho eine gute Wahl für ein Essen mit einer Gruppe!

Mal ganz davon abgesehen, dass die Preise um einiges höher sind als online angezeigt wird, fanden wir den Service, den man geboten bekommt nicht sonderlich ansprechend. Direkt zu Anfang wurde von dem nicht wirklich freundlichen Personal darauf gedrängelt dann endlich mal die Getränke zu bestellen. Der ältere Mann, der uns bediente, hatte zu keiner Zeit ein Lächeln aufgesetzt oder den Anschein hinterlassen, das wir dort erwünscht sind. Bei der Bestellung unseren Speisen wurde direkt danach gefragt wie wir denn zahlen möchten, hinterließ eher das Gefühl, wir sollen doch bitte so schnell es geht wieder gehen. Nachdem mein Freund sein Steak wieder zurückgehen lassen hat, da es leider kaum zu kauen war, brachte der Mann es wieder zurück und „schüttete“ ihm das Fleisch einfach zurück in sein Teller als wäre es ein Hundenapf. Leider hatte man sich durch das Personal, das die ganze Zeit in unserem Rücken herum schlappte und nur darauf gewartet hat, das wir dann ferig sind, nicht wirklich wohl gefühlt.

Waren zu 4 da.Essen war sehr lecker und überschaubar. Alle Fleich gehabt das genau auf den Punkt Gegahrt war. Wenig fertige Gerichte auf Karte.Muss man alles extra Bestellen.Preislich im oberen Mittelfeld. Würde aber immer wieder dort hin gehen. Bezahlen kann schon mal dauern🙂weil nur einer Kassiert.

Das Restaurant gibt es zu Recht schon seit 1979 und die Mitarbeiter vermutlich auch schon so lange. Die kennen ihre Speisen und sprechen auch Empfehlungen aus. Die Qualität vom Fleisch und Beilagen ist immer sehr gut. Die Weine passen auch immer. Das Ambiente ist eine Mischung aus rustikal und modern, wobei ich das sehr mag. Deshalb für alles 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Hier kann man beruhigten Herzen’s seine Weihnachtsfeier mit vielen Leuten feiern. Sehr empfehlenswert , das Essen war total lecker😋, die Bedienung total aufmerksam ,sehr freundlich und in allen Bereichen sehr flexibel 💯. Danke an das komplette Team von El Rancho 👏🏻.
