Got a table on a Tuesday at short notice. Food was very high quality.

Unfortunately not as good as before. We have been a regular customer for years, but the quality, especially in the service area, has really deteriorated. Price-performance is simply no longer right. I found the dripping air conditioning and quick processing to be very annoying. When I was told that the air conditioning was dripping on my arm, I received the answer: "It's just water..." Nothing changed about the situation that evening. At least nothing dripped on the food. When asked about the menu, the answer was "yes, go ahead.." Such answers are unacceptable to me for this type of restaurant. Combined with the price, no longer recommended. Food was okay, unfortunately the meat was just too cooked this time. Miss the old days of the restaurant.. :(

Quaint 1a steakhouse, with charcoal grilled steaks (good quality meat) and a large selection. We have been eating here regularly for 20 years and the quality is always consistently high.

Very good steaks. Had an entrecote with foil potatoes. The meat was medium medium and tasted excellent. The herb butter was also great. Reasonably priced. The service was also great. So all in all a good steak restaurant.

I often visited the steakhouse "El Toro" with my family many years ago, and I was even more pleased to visit this established institution in the heart of Bochum with my friend on our anniversary - after she expressed the wish to have a really good one again to eat steak. What struck me as particularly positive was that nothing had changed in the decoration and therefore in the cozy and stylistic ambience. We received a very friendly welcome upon our arrival. Although we had made a reservation in advance, this would not have been necessary that evening as the restaurant was relatively empty. Nevertheless, I recommend everyone to make a reservation, as the "El Toro" has always been well attended in the past - and for good reason. The food is excellent: you can immediately tell that there are real professionals at work here who know their craft, because every piece of meat is grilled to perfection. The portion sizes are also optimally chosen so that you are well satisfied without feeling overloaded. For anyone looking for parking when arriving, I recommend the P8 car park at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz. Here - just like in the restaurant - you can pay conveniently with a card or contactless with your smartphone. It was ideal for our anniversary that it was a little quieter that evening so that we could fully enjoy both the food and our evening together. Nevertheless, I hope for the operators that this was an exception and that the restaurant continues to be well attended so that it will remain with us in the future. We are already looking forward to our next visit to “El Toro”.

Staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food was very tasty and the quality of the meat was top. I had the entrecote and my husband had the beef fillet and they were both very tender and juicy. We'll definitely be back.

We were here this afternoon (1:30 p.m.). My wife had a 300g entrecote, I had a 200g fillet steak, medium-rare (much too small, my own mistake!!), each with baked potato/cream fresh. It wasn't cheap, but it was AWESOME!!! Fantastic quality, superbly prepared, with our own, incredibly tasty steak sauce, perfect service. The only drawback: parking situation, but easily accessible with ÖVP or: if you look, you will find! We will definitely come back after our vacation.

It has diminished significantly. Mushrooms from the jar and frozen vegetables on the platter for 2 people. The meat was grilled dry. The cheese platter and Parma ham as a starter were out of proportion to the price for me. I used to enjoy eating there. I don't think I'll be back.

I've been eating here for over 30 years. The quality is always good. The salad dressing is a highlight for me. The recipe is just as searched online as the Dönninghaus sauce (everyone in Bochum knows what I mean). What can you say about the store, it's been around for 50 years, if there was anything bad there it would have been closed long ago. Never experienced staff as unfriendly. I don't even know how much praise I should give out. Oh, something negative: since Covid there has been savings on tablecloths and beer mats. So the tables are always wet (where the glass is). The ambience is also getting old

We had the El Torro special platter for 2 people. There were cans of champions and frozen vegetables on it, which unfortunately didn't look tasty. The beef fillet was very tasty, the pork fillets were rather dry. Coleslaw, fries and rice were delicious. Too bad we were disappointed.

Food is top. Service very confident, friendly and accommodating. The ambience is rustic, I would describe it as well-kept and “outdated”. Price-performance ratio a bit too expensive.

We othered the mixed grill plate for two. It comes with pairing sauces and both taste great. I'm surprised by the variety of meats and all taste amazing. The quantity was very generous and hard to finish by 2 people so we took the rest home. Lovely service too! I'm intolerant to dairy and everything was dairy-free.

You can see a lot here. Graffiti, crowds, people in cosplays (Dokomi time). We came here to eat with the fear of not getting a table. But no way! There was little going on. I think it was the owner who was waiting for us at the door and when asked if there was a table for 4, he said: Sure, choose one. It's sad for what's on offer here. The food is very good. Very quick service. And very friendly ones too. As soon as my drink was empty I was immediately asked for another glass. I would like to say again that there is a good cooperation between price and performance.

Das " Jubiläums-Menue " war der Hammer. Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Dessert waren erstklassig. Hinzu kommt eine unaufdringliche aber aufmerksame Bedienung. Das Intertieur hat sich in den letzten Jahren kaum verändert. Die Rinderfelle auf den Sitzen sind sehr robust und werden auch die nächsten Jahre noch überleben. Ansonsten: Ein Steak-Haus, das ich guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen kann. Bon Appetito.

I have been visiting El Toro for over 30 years now. From day one, the service was always very friendly and accommodating (including my special requests regarding the sauces). The food is always very good, the only place where I order well because the meat still remains tender. The ambience may be a bit old, but it is still cozy. For me, the quality of the food and service is more important than chic, modern furnishings. Yesterday I asked for the first time and found out that you can purchase the absolutely delicious salad dressing to make at home. For me it is one of the best restaurants in Bochum and cannot be compared with the cheap shops directly in the Bermuda Triangle.

Very good food. We have the pepper fillet with fries - taste so good. And nice place even it’s old. The menu it’s a lot of steaks, but the also have fish.

We visited the restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime. In fact, little has changed in this restaurant in 50 years. Anyone who likes steaks will come back again and again. Even in the absence of alternatives. My steak had a very good taste because it was charcoal grilled. However, the quality of the meat was average. The salad was tasty but there was way too much dressing on it. The service is professional, friendly and polite. Of course this is not a gourmet restaurant either. But the prices are quite reasonable. Nevertheless, if you like steak, you can hardly avoid El Toro if you want to eat it in Bochum.

To my surprise, I was invited here yesterday at lunchtime due to my upcoming retirement. A dark restaurant with old furnishings in the style of the 80s, not exactly cozy. Food was very tasty (even if you weren't asked about the doneness of the steak) - but clearly overpriced! After the meal we ordered drinks. Another order after that was rejected - "we have lunch break". My conclusion: Too expensive for what you get, there are better alternatives!

Ordered a platter and a ribeye with chimichurri and green sauce. as always very tasty. The frozen vegetables and sideboard could be modernized a bit in terms of the plate. Unfortunately, service forgot 1-2 small orders. he wanted to remember it instead of writing it down.

An outdated steakhouse that apparently only lives on the reviews left years ago! Back then, Argentinian beef was all the rage, but now people use regional meat - the meat is still flown in here! Plus prices like in ancient Rome, even in tourist hotspots like Munich or similar, it's cheaper than here in the Bochum restaurant. An ice cream with warm chocolate sauce for €10.50, a small beer for €3.50, a large beer for €5.50. I was already disappointed 20 years ago and I have to say that nothing has changed!

Very nice atmosphere and very nice staff... but We ordered a grill plate for 2 for €59. (in hindsight “big mistake”) maybe. It was already too late for the kitchen.... 22.15 Canned mushrooms, frozen vegetables, meat was, well, the fries were good and the salad was very tasty. I was very disappointed, maybe. We really had ordered the wrong thing. Conclusion... the grill plate is definitely not recommended!

Yesterday evening we were there again for some time. When everything becomes more expensive everywhere, El Toro is even more expensive. They've gone completely crazy. No more sets or cutlery on the tables. Zero decoration and no desire from the waiter. Despite renovations, toilets still stink of manure. Worn seat covers complete the whole thing. After 2 hours you should clear the space for other guests. As long as we did, we didn't feel like waiting for the waiter, who didn't even come to the table to ask about any requests. So just get out of there. The steak was great, only the price and the overall package is minus six The place won't get our money anymore

Rustic is a definition of stuck in the 80s. Apart from the steak, which was good, the side dishes were all convenience products, which are prepared foods, meaning cooked, washed, peeled or seasoned. You can expect fresh food for €33. Paid the lesson again.

The last three visits were no longer convincing. During the three visits there was always a complaint about a fillet steak. Tough, well done or raw like from the meat counter. Plus the huge price increase. Unfortunately, after all these years, no longer the restaurant of our choice.

Best steaks with rustic charm. We've been coming to El Toro for decades and have never been disappointed. The quality of the meat is second to none, the prices are reasonable and the staff is always extremely attentive and polite. If you're looking for really good meat dishes, you'll find them here! The restaurant is furnished in a rustic style with dark wood and cowhide benches; a reservation is always recommended due to its size and popularity.

We had the platter for 2 people (€66) and steak (€35). The platter was served with mushrooms, vegetable rice, fries and meat. It looked like it had just been slapped on. Without love. The mushrooms were from a jar, the vegetables from the freezer, just bad for the price. I won't eat here anymore. Meat was ok, but I've eaten better. Very unfortunate. Can't understand the good reviews.

After a long time we went to my favorite steakhouse again. Unfortunately, the prices have risen so significantly that we quickly lost our appetite. You should pay over 6 euros for fried onions... Overall, if you put together a fillet steak (200 g), you can quickly reach over 50 euros including 2 side dishes. So the performance is still right here, but unfortunately the price is no longer good!

We were there with work (25 people), made reservations early and were thrown out after 1.5 hours. Despite registering in advance, we didn't all sit at the same table. It's unbelievable how outrageously people have behaved towards us. Never again.

A great restaurant, the look is unusual but somehow very cool and pleasant. The food is great, especially the quality of the meat is perfect and the service is super pleasant and quick. It's definitely worth a visit and I'll happily come back.

Despite the high number of visitors and the lack of a table reservation, the food was prepared quickly and cooked to perfection. A real treat for the palate, not just visually but especially in terms of taste. I would like to once again give special praise to the nice waiter, who gave great advice, responded to requests and intolerances and offered alternatives. This dear gentleman still knows his craft, which unfortunately can no longer be said about all restaurants. He was always friendly and attentive! All in all, a great address if you're in Bochum.

Weizenbier und Cola waren gut.🤦 Im Internet keine Preise auf der Karte. Aus gutem Grund. Teuer und wenig Auswahl. Im Großen und Ganzen leider kein Vergleich zum El Rancho 8n der Nachbarschaft. Absolut lecker, Fleischplatte für 2 Personen, die Filets auf den Punkt gegart, perfekt!

Jeder Mitarbeiter dort ist sehr freundliches und aufmerksam. Man fühlt sich echt gut aufgehoben als Kunde. Das Essen ist super und die Preise sind für die Qualität fair. Das Ambiente ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber die Stühle aus Rinderhaut und Kellner mit Cowboy-Gürteln machen es sehr authentisch.

Das Restaurant gibt es schon 'ewig' in Bochum. Ambiente ist schon recht"oldshool" Freundliche Bedienung, guter Service . Meine persönliche Meinung "Kein reines steakhous ,eher ein Balkan Restaurant. Wer rustikalen Look mag und auch nicht unbedingt nur Steak will, ist da gut aufgehoben.

Hier passt seit mehr als 30 Jahren einfach alles. Wir kommen jedesmal wenn wir in Bochum sind gerne wieder.

Eigentlich wäre es besser nur 3* zu geben, aber nur, weil ich bei 5* spontan keinen Tisch mehr bekommen würde. Ansonsten wäre die Nachfrage zu groß... Seit über 30 Jahren bin ich ein zufriedener Gast, immer herzlich empfangen und bedient worden. Lediglich ist es 1x vorgekommen, da hatte die Rindin wirklich schlechte Laune und das Fleisch war nicht zart, ohne Fragen habe ich zeitnah ein neues Rinderfilet erhalten und war begeistert. Eigene Erfahrungen bitte selber sammeln. Mir gefällt meine Freundin auch am besten...

Also das El Toro Steakhaus besteht ja schon seit gefühlten 100 Jahren. Dementsprechend ist auch das Ambiente. Das Essen ist gut, aber auch nicht mehr. Der Service ist gut,freundlich und flott. Die Preise sind selbst für ein Steakhaus, noch dazu für ein durchschnittliches,doch ziemlich hoch.

Leider qualitativ nicht mehr so gut wie früher 🤷‍♀️

Lieblos und leider nicht zu empfehlen! Ich hatte am Samstag, 25.11.2023 online einen Tisch für 18:30 bestellt und per Mail eine Zusage erhalten. Ein Tisch wurde reserviert von 18:30 bis 20:30. Vor Ort hieß es dann, es gäbe keine Reservierung, am Wochenende würde man ohnehin nur zur vollen Stunde reservieren, nicht zu halben. Als ich meine Bestätigung zeigte, wurde uns nach kurzer Wartezeit ein Tisch zugewiesen. "Bis 19:30!" Beim nochmaligen Vorweisen der Reservierungsbestätigung durften wir gnädigerweise bis 20:00 Uhr bleiben, wurden aber direkt nach Beendigung des Essens ab 19:45 Uhr gedrängt, doch bitte zu zahlen. Unserem Nebentisch ging es genauso. Zehn Minuten vor 19:00 Uhr wurden auch dort die Gäste zum Zahlen und Aufstehen gedrängt. Beim Bezahlen gab mir der Kellner erst einmal 5,- € zu wenig zurück und fragte, ob das so in Ordnung sei. Und das, obwohl ich ihm zuvor gesagt habe, was ich gerne zurück hätte und schon ein ordentliches Trinkgeld eingerechnet hatte. Missmutig gab er den 5er nach Aufforderung dann doch noch heraus. Geht gar nicht! Fazit: So schnell sieht uns der Laden nicht wieder! Statt dort einen gemütlichen Abend verbringen zu können, wird man in unfassbar kleinen Zeitfenstern abgefertigt, während einen andere Leute, die in den Gängen auf einen freien Tisch warten, mit aggressiven Blicken traktieren.

Seit Jahrzehnten ein ganz klassisches, uriges Steakhaus, mit Charm und hervorragendem Essen! Mein klarer Favorit in puncto Steakhaus.

Kenne das Lokal seit über 40 Jahren. Die Qualität der Steaks ist immer gleichbleibend sehr hoch. Und das Personal sehr aufmerksam und freundlich zuvorkommend , wie man es heute kaum noch findet. Das Ambiente läd zum Entschleunigen ein. Wo man sich wohlfühlt kommt man eben immer wieder hin.

War auf der Suche nach ein neuen Steak Haus, ich geh online auf die Speisekarte und was seh ich? genau eine Speisekarte ohne Preise! Das ist ein No-Go!

Ich lebe nun seit 15 Jahren in Bochum und besuche seither regelmäßig das El Toro. Hier gibt es ohne jeden Zweifel die besten Steaks in Bochum! Die Ofenkartoffel mit Kräuterbutter ist ein wahres Gedicht und ich wüsste nicht, wo ich jemals eine ähnlich cremige und so perfekte Ofenkartoffel gegessen habe. Die Steaks haben ein ganz besonderes Aroma und sind stets perfekt auf den gewünschten Garpunkt gegart! Einzig zu bemerken ist leider, dass ich mich bereits seit einigen Jahren dazu entschieden habe das El Toro nur noch mittags aufzusuchen, da es abends eine Mehrfachbelegung der Tische gibt und man lediglich ein kurzes Zeitfenster zur Verfügung gestellt bekommt. Ich persönlich genieße gerne mein Steak eine Weile und bleibe dann noch gerne eine Weile sitzen. Deshalb gibt es einen Abzug beim Service, obwohl dieser im Punkt Aufmerksamkeit und Freundlichkeit ganz außerordentlich gut ist.

Rinderfilet war nicht absolut sehnenfrei und kalt.

Der Service frech und unfreundlich Trotz wünsche wurde auf nichts eingegangen zudem wurde uns noch gesagt wir seien anstrengend Bei der käseplatte war der schimmel nicht zu übersehen . Das Restaurant eins der schlimmsten was wir je gesehen haben in Berlin geht man auf die Wünsche ein hier ist es nicht der Fall. Zudem klagen 4 Personen über Durchfall und magenschmerzen!

Came here with several colleagues on a windy November night. As usual first class service and good. Steak is the thing to go for and I had a large filet cooked rare and it was fantastic. Colleagues had steak and mixed grills. All superb. We will be back!

Seit über 40 Jahren verkehre ich in diesem Steakhouse, mittlerweile leider nur noch, wenn ich mal nach Bochum komme. Die Steaks sind fantastisch und den Beilagensalat liebe ich. Die Mitarbeiter und der Wirt sind sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.

Das Steakhaus kann ich nur empfehlen, ich gehe jetzt seit 20 Jahren dort hin und mir hat es bisher immer geschmeckt😀. Ohne Tisch bestellung sollte man am Abend es erst gar nicht versuchen.

Meiner Meinung nach DAS Steakhaus in Bochum. Super Service und das Essen schmeckt besonders gut. Der Laden hinterlässt einen rustikalen Eindruck mit einem besonderen Ambiente. Man fühlt sich hier sehr wohl.

Da gibt es Alternativen in Bochum. Essen mehr als Durchschnitt bei dem Preisniveau.

Ambiente ist ziemlich rustikal. Könnte ein wenig Investion/Liebe gebrauchen. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. ich hatte den "El Toro Teller", quasi das Aushängeschild! des Ladens für über 60,00€. Das Fleisch war ne glatte 1+ mit Sternchen. Die Pommes waren sehr gut. Was sich mir nicht erschließt ist dass man eine handvoll fades verkochtes TK Kaisergemüse als Beilage dazu gibt. Wieso bereitet man nicht ganz simpel wechselndes Tagesgemüse vor. Das ist nun wirklich keine Arbeit und zieht den Schnitt dementsprechend nicht runter. Ich bin echt nicht empfindlich aber dieses Gemüse dem Gast guten Gewissens andrehen ist nicht gut! P.S. Der Gulaschsuppe aus dem "Trim" der Steaks ist fantastisch! Mal schauen ob ich dort nochmal essen gehen werde.
