I didn't have a reservation and still got a table. I followed the waiter's advice and tried the eight different tapas first, which was more than plentiful and some of them were delicious. The downside is the abundance and the dim lighting. But it's still worth it...

The food is delicious but very greasy. You have to be aware that eating tapas is an expensive undertaking, and I think €25 for a liter of sangria is a bit excessive. The waiters are friendly and hard-working.

A very comfortably furnished restaurant with delicious dishes; we enjoyed the premium tapas. All tables were occupied on a Friday evening, so reservations are recommended.

Buenos dias amigos :) Typical Spanish " Tapas " bar, we found near to Albertplatz. From first seconds until end it was little bit chaotic with service, but it was understandable ( full house inside , outside ;)). Lets go to food -> plate from premium tapas ( salmon, entrecote steak with tomato salsa, potatoes, mushrooms with chicken, chorizo, etc) it was reaaaaly good!! Separately we order croquetas de espinacha and cheese -> highlight of the dinner, full of flavors , full of cheese ... veggie dish which is necessary to try 👌👌 Beer of "Pilsner type " was better than expected , I was looking for some ciders , but unfortunately it was not in menu, or i am blind 😁 Interior is typical Spanish, generally it is so nice :) Final review is 9,8 /10* ( 0,2* down for lomger waiting ) Enjoy this restaurant in city center of Dresden !

It won't disappoint and it won't offend. We got our first "kick" right at the door, and that was that we could only sit there for 2 hours. That immediately puts you in a better mood. We ordered a mix of tapas and... well, how to put it mildly: we've actually eaten better. After all, with premium tapas you expect something less ordinary. But we've also eaten worse. So 3 stars is just right for this.

The food and drinks are delicious and lovingly prepared. Highly recommended on a summer evening, as you don't have to sit directly in the sun.

I'm not usually a big fan of tapas restaurants and bars in Germany. The portions are often too small, too expensive, and overcooked for me. I was pleasantly surprised here. Decent portions, freshly prepared, and reasonable prices. We sat outside; it was too crowded and cramped inside for us. The service was good outside, too. There was only a short wait, and we were greeted promptly for follow-up orders. There are still plenty of tapas to try, and the fish soup is supposedly good, so we'll have to come back.

A great restaurant, which was quite busy for a Monday evening. The food selection is extensive and the quality of the dishes is consistently excellent. We would be happy to return and can wholeheartedly recommend El Español.

Fraud: According to the restaurant's website, the lunch special was supposed to be available from July 14th to July 18th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We arrived at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15th, with five people, having cycled there from the other side of the Elbe in the rain. The unfriendly employee told us that the lunch special was only valid until 2 p.m. (He shoved the menu under our noses), and the information on the website wasn't up to date.

A spontaneous visit before a concert. The tapas were authentic, and the wine was also very good quality. The atmosphere is cozy. The value for money is good. We'd be happy to come back.

We ordered tapas and sparkling wine in advance for a specific time directly after our wedding at the Kulturrathaus. Everything worked out perfectly. We called back to discuss the type of tapas. On the day itself, the food was delivered promptly. Everything was delicious, and we'll definitely stop by again sometime. ;-) It's hard to describe the ambiance, as we sat in the beer garden and didn't have time to venture inside. If you're looking for a quick snack after the wedding at the Kulturrathaus, we highly recommend it. We'd love to come back!

The food was very good, the waiter was very busy but friendly. What I found very inappropriate was the tipping policy. You can't decide how much to tip—at least 8% or you have to pay in cash. That spoiled the evening a bit. It could be better!

Give it a wide berth! I actually liked it here. The food was delicious, prices were normal for tapas, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was good or better depending on the person. So why this review: We sat right near the bar and were able to watch the bartender pouring drinks. While preparing a house lemonade, I saw the bartender drinking the drink with a straw and initially thought it was his own, especially since he then moved it to the side. But there was only the syrup there, which he added. More water, tasted it again, more syrup, stirred, tasted it again – it could still be his own... But no. A fresh straw (at least), a decoration on it, and off to the waitress. I was too shocked at the time to react immediately. (I apologize to the person who then received the drink...) Even if everything else was fine, I won't be setting foot here again. I saw it happening at the bar. I don't want to know what happens behind the kitchen door...

The service here is truly terrible: super-grumpy waiters who are clearly not interested in their jobs. When we asked if we could sit in the shade in the sun at one of the many free tables, we were told no, as they don't serve us in the shade. The quality of the food is so-so and is significantly ruined by the poor service. By the way, bread wasn't served until the end of the meal. Don't order the Pulpo alla Gallega. It has nothing to do with the original.

Friday evening at 9.45pm and we are briefly told at the door that the kitchen is no longer preparing food.....a disgrace for a restaurant that is open until 11pm....by the way, we would have been happy with bread and aioli

We were here two years ago and loved it. In fact, even after yesterday's visit, our impression has not been dampened. The food is great, as are the staff and the ambience. I met a friend here last night. We didn't make a reservation because I couldn't reach anyone by phone. At 7 p.m. we were seated at the bar and got our drinks before a table became available. Once placed at the table, it took a while for our order to be taken. The food was fantastic! Everything was delicious! When I paid I gave a tip and wanted to pay €25. After a long wait and the waiter calculating back and forth, the card payment machine showed €26.28. Without a word he held out the device. I found it a bit unfortunate and uncharming not to ask beforehand whether the amount was okay because it was (possibly?) due to the technology (it's just a guess). Otherwise the restaurant was nicely decorated and had a nice ambience. Unfortunately, we were sitting right in the entrance, so there was a lot of draft when the door opened and closed.

The three of us spontaneously visited this restaurant on Saturday evening. We didn't make a reservation because we were only in Dresden for a concert for one evening. The restaurant was (of course) full. When we asked for a table for 3 people, we were asked to wait a moment to be told that a table would be available in 5 minutes that we could have. Of course we were happy to wait because we were immediately impressed by the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. The evening went wonderfully. The food and wine were first class and despite the store being full the team were completely stress free, polite, attentive and relaxed. If we are in Dresden again, we will definitely visit El Espanol again. Thanks for the lovely evening!

While eating, I explicitly asked whether wheat and/or oats were processed in the dishes I chose. This was denied. Unfortunately this cannot be true... Therefore only three points. The service was generally okay.

One of the oldest tapas restaurants in Dresden. Idyllically located at the Epiphany Church... a dream to dine outside under the trees in summer. I was there for lunch today...grilled pork fillet with cheese sauce was delicious.... Deduction: Broccoli was completely overcooked

The food and service were great, any “extra” requests were addressed and implemented. Reservations are recommended as it is really busy. However, sitting in that narrow aisle right next to the kitchen serving window wasn't great. It was narrow and very loud...

Absolute recommendation in the Baroque Quarter! We have been very happy to have lunch guests for over two years now, mostly with business partners, and during this time they have always been very accommodating and friendly. The food is consistently of high quality. A place of good taste and good exchange... in summer on the outdoor area in front of the Epiphany Church. A magical place!

We had a wonderful evening at El Espanol. The service was very attentive and friendly. The food was good, but unfortunately not very good.

Food is excellent. With 3 tapas (6.90 each) and a beer you will really feel full. Beer (0.5) costs 5.70. As of October 2024. The place is small in itself, 7 tables of different sizes (can be set apart depending on occupancy). Tapas with meat are highly recommended. Tastes very good. Preparation quite quickly. There is a charge for parking in the area until 8 p.m. Ambience: It's an old building with smaller windows. Toilet clean.

We were a larger group and were squeezed into a corner. The distance to the next table was too small. The bread and dips were at the table promptly, but we waited another 30 minutes for the rest of the food. The selection of tapas was good. They were quite small and simply prepared - tasted ok. Late in the evening the restaurant became very full and we had to wait a long time for both a new drink order and the bill.

A really good price/performance ratio in every respect! Delicious, special, cozy - a complete success! I can only warmly recommend it!

A very pretty restaurant in a baroque style house with a beautiful shaded terrace. The food is excellent and the prices very affordable. A special mention for the service and particularly Mo who was very professional. Very grateful for the excellent service.

Pro: the ambience in front of the church, musicians on the church square. Nothing to do with the restaurant. But of course they benefit from it. Con: forever waiting time, in the first hour there was only 1 drink for everyone, a basket of dry bread was put away pretty quickly, no dip or spread - it came 30 minutes later. Table with 4 now hungry people after 1 hour of waiting 1 of 15 tapas came then again for 20 minutes there was no movement. Conclusion: on weekends and in summer when things are busy, we prefer to eat somewhere else. Staff is terribly unfriendly, incomprehensible, you feel like you're in a tourist trap. Maybe it is too... thanks for nothing

The food was good, the outside area was very nice as it was right on the square of the Epiphany Church. We had to wait a relatively long time (approx. 30-40 minutes) for the TAPAS. The food itself was really good, but there was no written indication that three tapas per person had to be chosen/paid for. Before 2 p.m. during the week you get 3 for the price of 2. Of course we were there after 2 p.m. The tip about Friday tapas only came from an employee after we had already ordered and received drinks. Prices per tapas vary between €6.50 and €09.50 and correspond to a full meal.
