Disappointing experience at El Amigo in Düsseldorf Our experience at El Amigo restaurant in Düsseldorf was downright disappointing. We had reserved a table in advance, including confirmation, but upon arrival we were told without any explanation that there was no table available for us. The older man who received us was very rude and simply indicated that we were 'out of luck'. There was no apology yet. This was not only frustrating, but completely unprofessional. What made it worse was that the same thing happened to another group of three people. Unfortunately we didn't get to taste the food, but given the way we were treated, we have no interest in giving this restaurant another chance. It's a shame that a place makes such a bad first impression, especially if you've booked in advance. In short, we won't come back here and don't recommend it either. There is no point in making a reservation at this restaurant.

We've ordered the tapas plate twice (4ppl) which we've had expected to be something as the restaurant stated as the "Spanish Specialty". The plate cosisted of paprika's-things, 2 lemons, 2 meat-things (that tasted good!!) 2 pieces of melon & ham, champions whom were baked but now cold, Sardines and chorizo which were. 2 plates of this and 2 cola + 0.0 beer, €98 euros. We could know the price beforehand but the plate was a disapointment for a spanish speciality restaurant. Preffered the schnitzel further down the road!.

Dined on a Saturday evening. We were kindly received and taken to our table. It is an attractive restaurant where the tables and benches are almost against each other. Quite annoying when the people behind you can't sit still 😉 Service was downright grumpy and almost rude. Communicated with 1 or 2 words and couldn't get a laugh out of it. Glass was taken away when it wasn't even empty yet. He was clearly not having his day. Also had to wait a very long time for the bill. Food tasted very good but is very expensive for what you get. Sauce came 5 minutes later than the rest, then your meat is getting cold.

I haven't enjoyed Spanish food as good as this evening in a very long time. If I could give 6 stars, I would do so with a clear conscience. The restaurant looks a bit inconspicuous from the outside but is beautiful inside. The service is attentive and very friendly, the food is a 10/10! I would eat here again at any time.

Our first dinner in Dusseldorf with friends on a Friday evening. Quiet location and a nice ambiance. I ordered the grilled octopus, which came with salad and mashed potatoes. I loved the octopus (2 sliced tentacles) and the salad, but I found the texture of the mash a little off. It was a bit gummy and sticky, so probably blitzed in a blender. Then I shared the Flan El Amigo, which was just flan with whipped cream and ice cream, covered in a caramel sauce and chocolate sauce. I think the prices are a bit too high for the quality of the food. I mean a schnitzel for almost €30, is a bit expensive for German standards. The service was also surprisingly slow and at times not really attentful, even if the restaurant was not that busy. Overall just an OK experience.

Very great Spanish restaurant with absolutely excellent steaks! I have been a guest twice and both times were extremely convincing.

The server was so friendly that it made us feel the leisureliness of Spain. Even though I'm taking orders, I'm asking when I'll come, but hey, is this Germany or Spain? It's very good good good!!! The paella is as good as eating other paellas, the meat is based on Chef Ahn Seong-jae's famous words from Black and White Chef, and the octopus dish is so fresh that it tastes like it was just caught from the sea. Alt beer was very delicious. I recommend this place! Wow

First the positive; The service is quite friendly and attentive. The food is OK, but nothing more. The bread that was served at the beginning was completely dried out and over-baked, and the butter that was served with it was rock hard. That's not nice in a restaurant in this price range. The food itself was carelessly draped on the plate. I had the grilled octopus, with potatoes, a lemon wedge and a parsley leaf. The whole thing was seasoned dry and boring. The meat dish, Iberico steak, was similarly boring. However, the quality of the meat itself is very good. It was quite cool in the restaurant, the music was unbearably loud, and the furniture was outdated. The price-performance ratio is no longer even close. We've been here several times in the past, but yesterday was definitely the last time - it's a shame.

Don't make your way here. I asked for a medium steak. But I'm sure medium-fine would have been nicer. And I asked for fried potatoes. They brought a boiled potato, I asked 3 times to change it and finally they didn't bring it. He was ill. Don't come here again. Really great! It is a very cozy restaurant. Not big on the inside but nicely laid out, everything in one round. There is a large terrace in front of the business in a cozy little alley. The service was good, served quickly and very friendly. The food was downright delicious! Even special wishes were fulfilled. Definitely worth coming here to eat.

We were there at lunchtime, the portions were more suitable for 10 year old children. A friend had tomato soup that was extremely peppery. The atmosphere is very nice and the waiter was also very friendly.

Very slow, 1 hour and a half of waiting for a paella that tasted average but the rice was very very very stale, it almost dissolved, very bad.

Cozy terrace in a quiet place. Tasty food and lots of choice. One of our chosen dishes was on the suggestion menu (veal schnitzel), but was served very plainly, without sauce and quite pricey compared to the rest on the menu. The rest of the dishes were fine. The tables on the terrace are perhaps a bit too small for 4 people to sit at, so we were not 100% comfortable.

The food was incredibly delicious

I went there twice. Lovely place, inside and out on the terrace. Staff is actually Spanish, but speaks German. I had a chicken salad and chicken schnitzel. Well filled plates.

It is a really great restaurant, the food is amazing, we had starters and different kinds of steak and they were all great! The wine is very good and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Also, great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you're around!

El Amigo, a constant fixture for us when we visit Düsseldorf. Comfortable seating, inside and out. Friendly service and delicious food! Reasonable price level.

Unfortunately an absolute disappointment! Any chip shop would have served better food!

- Long waiting times - The tapas for 2 were cold and a joke in terms of price and performance, little tasted fresh - On top of that, no change was given. We paid €60 for 2x coffee, 1x large bottle of water, 1x cola and the starter. You have to know.

The wait for the waiter was a bit longer than it should have been, but it was busy. The food is solid, we expected more for this restaurant. One thing I can recommend is the lamb chops. Many things were not on the menu, which is otherwise wide, there is also fish and all kinds of meat you know, but it's in vain when everything is not there and when nothing is very good. Maybe reduce the selection and increase the quality. The welcome bread was burnt, toasted. Friendly staff. Great location.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal in diesem Lokal und haben uns im Nachhinein doch geärgert. Wir haben eine Fleischgrillplatte für 2 Personen bestellt, das Fleisch war zwar lecker, aber für den Preis von 60 Euro erwartet man mehr. Preis /Leistung ist nicht gegeben. Beilage kommt jeweils noch on top. Die Speisen waren auch leider lieblos angerichtet. Das dritte Gericht war Medaillons in Rotweinsauce, man konnte es essen aber Genuss geht anders. Wir waren schon öfters in der Schneider Wibbel Gasse , dies war unser schlechtes Essen. Leider nicht zu empfehlen.

So much oil in the food, tasteless veggies, and dried Fries. Never let anyone even sit there to eat! I think the standard has gotten worse with time.

I really enjoy eating there every now and then. The steak is always very juicy and tasty. Salmon is also highly recommended!

Bottled beer is overpriced and lukewarm, Altbier on tap is no longer available. Portions smaller but more expensive. I had much better memories of the place. The competition will probably be tested on the next trip to Düsseldorf.

I was there with my husband. The starter was okay. For the main course we ordered paella. The waiting time was too long, about 1 hour. The rice wasn't cooked through. Then we waited an additional hour for the rice to cook through. The paella became dry and no longer juicy. Paella price ~45 euros for 2 people with 4 shrimps and no mussels. The service was also very arrogant. When we told the waiter that the paella was dry, he didn't care. Eating little at overpriced prices: 1 starter, 1 paella for 2 people, 1 water and 1 drink for 80 euros.

We were there in the evening on the first Saturday of spring - and perhaps everyone was overloaded. In fact, we had the impression that the resto was set up exactly for this type of mass cuisine. They were the worst tapas variadas in a long time and at an astronomical price, which wasn't even clearly visible on the menu, the main course was already there when we still had the tapas in front of us, the grilled fish was rather bland - it didn't really matter was fun.

I have known the Primero Amigo Lopez for over 30 years now and have already been here with my friends from Barcelona. That probably says it all. I feel comfortable here, Y todas comìdas son muy rico y estupendo. Siempre! Now it has been 40 years since the first visit, and again it was mega good. Estupi dissimo!

Nice atmospheric Spanish restaurant in the 'Spanish street', in the Altstadt of Düsseldorf. The shop is small but nicely decorated (we were in the middle of the shop). It looks like some kind of arena where you are dining. I also thought the ham upon arrival added something to the atmosphere. They also have a nice menu with plenty of choice. Prices are a bit high. Staff is very nice and hospitable.

We were in Düsseldorf today and had dinner here. At the entrance the door was opened and we were greeted in a very friendly manner. The tapas were very good 👍 as was the mixed fish plate. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. We'd love to come back when we're in town.

We definitely found 15€ for just five small prawns too much, and unfortunately we had “gastroenterological” problems after eating. The waiter and atmosphere are nice, but unfortunately that's not enough to keep you coming back.

A little upscale, but very good

One early afternoon - when the cheap lunch menu was still in effect - we visited El Amigo. As always, the reception was very friendly and we were shown the table we had reserved in advance. As an appetizer there was the very tasty bread with two different dips. For the main course we chose the mixed meat platter, which was very tasty, and the red house wine was also a good accompaniment to the meal. Conclusion: Once again it was very good at El Amigo.

We chose the restaurant through EdenredTicket. We planned to eat tapas there with children after the walk along the Rein. The restaurant is located in the old town, which is reflected in the price. The place is very small and cramped, but also pleasant with children. Tapas themselves...they're not bad, but they're definitely not excellent either. There was definitely aioli missing, but the selection wasn't particularly huge either. What spoiled our afternoon here is the service - not attentive and very aggressive. Food vouchers were simply refused without any explanation - pure excuses. Contact with the owner for clarification was refused without any reasons. Definitely, never going back...

More than 2 hours of waiting time for the food and then it wasn't even edible. Although we wanted to give the food back and remained polite, it was discussed with us that the meat was not dry. To top it all off, after we canceled the whole thing, we had to pay €200+ for 2 starter plates (there were 13 of us and the 2 plates would only have been enough for 5 people). So long story short: This establishment is not recommended if you don't want to be cheated out of your money, want to get tasty food or have short waiting times. Because you won't get that here.

Unfortunately you have to give one star. This establishment doesn't deserve anything at all. Rip off. . Outrageous. Some food was inedible. Never ever more. Shame. The attached picture shows a starter plate for 5 people...95 euros...cheer

Wer 2-3 Stunden Zeit hat und wenig Essen zu überteuerten Preisen mag, der ist hier genau richtig !!

Leider war das Steak medium sehr blutig. Auch nach der Reklamation kam das Steak immer noch blutig. Die Beilagen waren sehr übersichtlich. Kein Preis-Leistung Verhältnis.

Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis..Leider aber negativer Art. Das Essen an einem Samstag Abend bei voller Hütte länger dauern kann, ok, aber das 1. Die abgerechneten Vorspeiseplatten für 10 Personen nicht mal für jede Person ein Gambas enthält und trotzdem 18.90/Person berechnet wird, Essen erst nach 2,5 Stunden und nur zum Teil gebracht wird ( Fleischgerichte), die 320g Steaks eher unter 200g und absolut ungenießbar waren und zurückgehen mussten sind nur 1 kleiner Teil der Geschichte die den Abend unvergesslich gemacht haben... Wir werden sicherlich nicht mehr wiederkommen.

Würde am liebsten 0 sterbe geben. Absolute Frechheit dieser Laden. Haben vor 6 Wochen für 13 Personen reserviert und mussten 3 Stunden auf das Essen warten. Haben es dann storniert. Sollten aber für zwei Vorspeisenplaten mit 3 gambas 230 Euro bezahlen. Einfach nur krass sorry. Geht nicht in diesen Drecksladen !!!!!!!

环境和服务都非常卓越。 盘子更换及时。 tapas单份价格偏贵但是份量也比其他家大因此性价比还是可以的。 Paela味道不错 就是做的有点干了 不过这都是个人偏好问题。 总的来说一次不错的用餐体验

Schönes 🇪🇸 Restaurant in der Düsseldorfer Altstadt, freundliche Bedienung und hervorragendes Essen

Wir saßen in der oberen Etage auf Bänken. Diese waren nicht ganz so bequem und es war auch eng und unpraktisch zum aufstehen. Service war schnell und freundlich, vorab gab es Brot und Dips. Wir hatten zu 4 die Paella, diese war wirklich lecker und gut. Aber es könnte gerne etwas mehr sein für 4 Personen. Der Preis liegt pro Person bei 23,90€ was denke ich Standard für eine Paella ist. Der Sangria und Hauswein sind auch gut.

Wir waren kürzlich im El Amigo zum Abendessen. Das Essen war nach wie vor gut. Leider ließ der Service zu wünschen übrig. Das Personal war unaufmerksam und wenig freundlich. Unser Abend wird uns unglücklicherweise in negativer Erinnerung bleiben, daher kann ich dieses Restaurant nicht mehr weiterempfehlen.

Essen war okay. Service einfach nur unterirdisch. Lieber Herr Lopez, ihre besten Jahre sind lange vorbei. Leider überträgt sich das mittlerweile auf ihr Servicepersonal, das ist qualitativ einfach nur unterirdisch schlecht. Null Empathie. Das grenzt an Abzocke. Hier kann man nur dazu raten, diese lokale zu meiden.

Toller Laden, mit sehr schönem Ambiente in der 1. Etage. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die zunächst lauwarme Suppe wurde schnell und unkompliziert getauscht. Unser Kellner war dabei sehr kundenorientiert und hatte immer einen Spruch mit Augenzwinkern auf den Lippen. Wir kommen gerne wieder 👌

Leider völlig chaotisch, sehr lange Wartezeiten und dann das teuerste Fleisch in mässiger Qualität. Das war ein teures schlechtes Vergnügen.

Einfach spitze, nette Bedienung, leckeres Essen und schöne Atmosphäre. Aus meiner Sicht, das beste Lokal auf der Schneider Wibel Gasse.

De bediening lijkt niet geïnteresseerd of je nog wat wil drinken eventueel, het eten was bijna koud en heel weinig als er 20 aardappelschijfjes lagen was het veel. Vervolgens krijgen we de rekening staat er gewoon al : TIP 5€??? Sorry hoor maar dat is brutaal, die beslissing maak ik zelf wel toch? Nooit meer hierheen in ieder geval 😤

Ich mag dieses Restaurant sehr gerne. Sehr gute Essensqualität, Kellner sehr aufmerksam.

Wir waren vor ein paar Jahren das letzte Mal hier und hatten uns nun kurzfristig für einen Besuch entschieden. Wir wurden freundlich und locker begrüßt und wir wurden einem Tisch zugewiesen. Das Brot voraus kam sehr schnell und die bestellten Getränke auch. Lecker: krosses Brot, Kräuterbutter und Ajvar. Allerdings mussten wir dann fast 40Min auf unseren Hauptgang warten. Im Grunde nicht schlimm, aber da sollte man schon versuchen in einem vernünftigen Rahmen zu bleiben - auch wenn viel los ist. Daher einen Punkt Abzug. Ansonsten sehr gutes und leckeres Essen, sowohl das Filetsteak als auch der Lachs, den wir bestellt hatten. Eine Empfehlung wenn man genug Zeit mitbringt.

Wij hebben heerlijk gegeten. Waar wij enkele jaren geleden hier ook uitstekend hebben gegeten, werd het tijd om weer eens een bezoek te brengen aan dit restaurant. Hoewel het erg druk was, werden we goed en snel geholpen. Het eten was goed en ruim voldoende. Wij komen zeker weer als we weer in Düsseldorf zijn.

Sehr gemütliches spanisches Restaurant in der Düsseldorfer Altstadt. Die Sylter Muscheln sind ein wahres Gedicht gewesen und wir waren da bestimmt auch nicht das letzte Mal. Der Service war einfach nur klasse...wir haben sehr viel gelacht.
