Nice place - make sure you make a reservation, it fills up quickly. Certainly more relaxed outside in the summer. Food and service were great, prices were fair. It was super crowded, super loud, so there was a slight deduction.

A rustic ambiance with charming wooden benches and a sunny outdoor area. The service is relaxed, Hanseatic, friendly, competent, and attentive. And apparently, there's enough staff here! My giant meatball a la Meyer with my choice of side dish was so good that I would even recommend it to my children. Despite the location directly across from the fish market, the prices are rather low.

Absolutely great? You can sit inside or outside. Eggnog and beer are world class

I was incredibly disappointed because I needed to go to the toilet here. I immediately apologized to a waitress at the counter because I used her toilet out of necessity without consuming anything and paid €2 for toilet use. As I walked out I was accused of being rude because I didn't ask first. Even when I said that I had a need, a service lady continued to accuse me of being rude. With the words I won't come into your living room without being asked!!! It was very hurtful to have to endure this. Sorry, but that doesn't work at all.

Absolutely great. The food was really good, the atmosphere was absolutely convincing and the service was very nice! If I had to say something negative, I could only complain about a wobbly table. But even that had charm. So: absolute recommendation for everyone who comes by!

Actually everything was reserved and due to unfortunate circumstances we were allowed to eat something. Unfortunately, this caused stress for the hosts, which I was very sorry about. And then still remaining super super friendly and wanting to do everything for the guests is not a given and should be emphasized like that! Thank you anyway for the delicious food and the northern German atmosphere :)

We were here twice and both times everything was perfect and the food was also very tasty. The service is very friendly and nice. If we are here again I would definitely come here again.

Only the friendly waiters get these 5 stars from me. The boss was rude to us and had an angry look. If we hadn't already ordered the food, we would have gone again.

Very nice restaurant. Were there during the week. The eggnog is worth highlighting, because it is absolutely amazing!!. Schnitzel is huge but very thin. Nevertheless, not dry and tasty. Atmosphere is very pleasant. Staff is on the ball and very friendly. We had a very nice stay there and will definitely come back. Oh yes, the music selection is very mixed but exactly our taste🤣

We spontaneously had dinner here. We were kindly offered a table. In general the service was very friendly and attentive. The food was also good and the price for pan fish was ok. We were shocked at the price of fried potatoes with 2 fried eggs for 15.80 euros. That's clearly too high! The volume level is generally very high.

We stopped here for lunch, as soon as you walk in you’re welcomed by the wonderful staff and friendly atmosphere. The staff were accommodating for our bad German and were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious! The hot chocolate was incredibly more-ish, I couldn’t help but go back for more. We had the Schnitzel and Schnitzel Holstein, which were lovely. I would recommend a visit should you hop off at the ferry or bus by the Fischmarkt!

A traditional restaurant with a great and friendly team that has a very good feel for the needs of the guests. We felt very welcome with our dog and ate delicious vegetarian dishes, but also schnitzel. We always like to come back!

Always delicious! Great selection of classic German dishes. Incredibly nice staff, you almost feel like you're being welcomed into the family. Great location at the fish market. The prices have recently been increased a bit more, but that's still okay because it was quite cheap before. What is not possible, however, is that the Hafenboller (meatball with fried potato salad) was removed from the menu after years. I'm not alone with this opinion. If it exists again, there will also be the 5th star. :-)

Came here spontaneously and got a table straight away. The spicy lout was what it promised. Common is: Eggnog is addictive. The service is great, suits Hamburg. You feel comfortable here and would love to come back again.

Wonderful food, great service, very cozy

I went there for dinner on a less busy day. The service was decent and the food was great. I had the Bratkartoffelsalat. The only thing that bothered me was that there were mice 🐭 running around. I told the staff. The staff already knew about it but it seemed they didn't care. Since mice can spread diseases e.g. Hantavirus I feel this is kind of reckless behavior. Plus I think the Gesundheitsamt wouldn't be pleased either.

Here we go, great liqueur... you have to try it.

It will be tight here for the die-hard vegan, but highly recommended for everyone else. There's no frills here, no bling bling, no ski ski. There are friendly, honest people here, simple, honest food and delicious dumplings. That's it. That's more than enough 😃. I'll be back

Simply a good shop - super attentive and friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, the best eggnog in Hamburg, a wide selection of delicious Ratsherrn beers on tap and a small but fine and hearty menu from delicious schnitzel to delicious labskaus and matjes with fried potatoes Mustard celebrations like at Nuts and Rundstück warm - we had a great evening - unfortunately it was already over at 11 p.m., but maybe that was it better😉

Beautiful North German ambience, nice staff, great food, we had Eier Carl twice during our stay in the Hanseatic city. I can only highly recommend it. Especially since I tried the best egg liqueur in Hamburg, the price was totally ok. I'll also have a liqueur delivered to beautiful Bavaria in the next few days clean and nice urinals

Very good discovery, typical German dish. The dishes offered are good. I also recommend the eggnog liqueur which gives a good taste in the mouth.

For food e.g. E.g. (Labskaus, Mustard or the homemade!! Eggnog, various varieties) we are always happy to come by. There are other dishes too. . . . . Service is quick and friendly. Calling beforehand can secure your place. Conclusion: small and nice, very good food, prices are absolutely reasonable.

The best eggnog! A restaurant that is worthy of its name, you could say. We were warmly welcomed and served quickly. Unfortunately we didn't eat anything, but the surrounding tables looked delicious. A great atmosphere near the jetties. Highly recommended!

Great eggnog. I actually don't like eggnog but it's really tasty. The people are super nice and funny. We got a table even without a reservation and the food is also very good. The atmosphere is also very nice and you feel comfortable.

We happened to pass by this restaurant and because of the advertising for Schnitzel Day (Tuesdays) we decided to go in. The ambience is completely inspiring. Wonderfully rustic, Hanseatic cozy with attention to detail. The service was friendly and all employees were warm to us and our children. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. You could hear the schnitzels being made in the kitchen. The drinks rounded everything off. Absolute recommendation.

Very cozy corner pub, super clean and smoke-free. There are even air filters. The food is traditional, very well prepared home cooking (you can taste the clarified butter at Labskaus, for example). If you like councilors, there is a large selection here. The star of the menu is of course the homemade eggnog. Had some here for the first time in 25 years and it's so great that I ordered some home. Service very, very attentive and friendly. Can only praise!

The waitress was a very nice, real Hamburg woman. Unfortunately, the food took a relatively long time even though we didn't order anything special. But it was very tasty and also good price. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who likes good home cooking.

Really very nice inn. Delicious food and very friendly service. My first Labskaus (since there was finally a sample portion) was very good. Schnitzel and of course the eggnog tasting were also great. And there is Hopf wheat beer, what more could you want than Bayer in Hamburg 😆

Quite authentic European/German food with some scintillating eier liquors will complement your meal in the most perfect way possible. With a great location and atmosphere it's a great spot for essen.

Quaint restaurant right at the fish market. The service was great, nice and with Hamburg hospitality. The salad with panfish could have had more fish, but it was tasty. The salad dressing was a bit bland and not enough. If the salad was dressed it would be better. The bread pudding with chocolate and the eggnog board were very tasty. Drink prices too high.

We had a great meal, the Labsklaus was great (but also the first one). As for the bread pudding: As it says in the menu, just try it! Nobody will be disappointed. 🙂 The staff was also extremely attentive and friendly!

Very, very unsympathetic service and xenophobia is apparently very important here. I was ordered to do things here, with the note “our house, our rules”… snotty cheeky and never recommended. Customer is never king here. Once and definitely never again!!! Extremely disappointed

We heard and read such good things “here on Google” and wanted to try out the store, UNFORTUNATELY we were greeted by an annoyed service person, a shame! I've been in the catering industry myself for 23 years and to this day I can't understand why you work in service if you don't feel like it. We would like to try the food there, nice home cooking, but we have to think hard about whether we make the long journey there again. We got up from the table and moved on. Little tip, with a smile on your face and kindness in your heart, life is better and healthier 😊☀️

A small but nice menu. Not overloaded and looks identical. My husband had the Labskaus (eaten for the first time), but we will repeat it. I ate mustard. Really taste like nuts. It wasn't the first time we were here and it wasn't the last time either. Afterwards we drank the Eierlikör-Tadte (very tasty). We were also persuaded to have dessert. Chocolate bread pudding and an egg grog. 👍🏼 If you're in Hamburg, you have to go to Eier-Carl

We were given the tip that we definitely had to stop by Eier Carl during our visit to Hamburg. We weren't disappointed - the eggnog is some of the best we've ever had and the food is just great! Since then, you have to visit Eier Carl on all trips to Hamburg!

Food is good and tastes good. Service is nice and relatively quick. The wooden chairs inside are very hard unless you get padded ones. Unfortunately, points are deducted because we couldn't take the uneaten food (half a schnitzel) with us because there are no longer any take-away containers, supposedly because of new laws. Unfortunately, we didn't have any take-away containers with us either. Therefore we will probably not visit Eiercarl again.
