Durante in Schwerin

We were given a table that was unfortunately not at all inviting: against a wall, where we had to sit at an angle, with one person facing away from the aisle. The service was quick, and the food arrived promptly. However, the restaurant wasn't very busy. The pasta was okay, but the pesto reminded me a lot of a well-known supermarket brand. I don't want to make any accusations, but I expect something different from a real Italian restaurant.

Great service, friendly staff. We've been coming here for years. Often fully booked, so book in advance. Pizza is around €16, bruschetta €12, wine €6 a glass. We're thrilled.

The pizza was okay. The crust was a bit too hard for me.

The pizza was a total disaster, soggy and tasteless. For €18 for a prosciutto e funghi, I really expected more. No flavor, no aroma, simply disappointing. The last time I paid €18 was in Saint-Tropez, but at least it came from a wood-fired oven. Apparently, they bake it with electricity here; simply put, Lidl's frozen pizza tastes better. Never again!

Ice cream bad, ice crystals inside, not good taste

We've been coming here for a long time, always on short trips to Schwerin. This time, however, we were very disappointed. The previously efficient, polite, Italian staff had been completely replaced by bored, gossipy ones. The chef was obviously also gone, because the pasta tasted very bland. The usually full place was completely empty. Even the always excellent tiramisu was no longer homemade, but thawed. I suspected a change of ownership, but my question was answered in the negative. As of today, we are no longer regulars. What a shame.

I ordered three scoops of ice cream in a cup: lemon, mango (for me, this was the most intensely flavored mango ice cream so far), and Dragon Summer (watermelon, prickly pear, and dragon fruit). It was the perfect refreshment on sunny days in the beautiful city of Schwerin.

We had a pasta bowl, two Milanese pizzas, and a Napoli. There was a hair in one of the pizzas. They kindly gave us half the price. Unfortunately, we didn't finish all of the other dishes either. Perhaps it's our taste, but we wouldn't eat here again.

My wife and I had made a reservation, and we were shown to our table. It was already fully booked that evening, so we only had a small table in the aisle. There were two of them—more like emergency tables, but okay. On the other hand, we were right in front of the staff at the kitchen exit and the manager. Meanwhile, a couple who came in spontaneously were shown to a more comfortable table and immediately given menus. After several minutes of not even receiving a menu or a greeting, under the watchful eyes of the sometimes gossipy staff, we left the restaurant and told the manager that the table was available again. That was a real shame. We had already bought some wine the day before at the associated delicatessen across the street and were looking forward to a pleasant evening.

It tasted very good, the prices were reasonable, but the service still needs some practice to ensure that everything ordered is brought to the table. The staff was very friendly all around; just stop by and have a good meal...

Nice shop with friendly staff. Ordering was quick, and everything was clean. Had a Margherita – the tomato sauce and mozzarella were good, but the crust was only mediocre.

Unfortunately, the service was unsatisfactory. The four of us waited almost an hour for our food. Other guests who arrived later ate and paid in the same amount of time. The base of my 4-cheese pizza wasn't homemade, and there weren't four types of cheese on the pizza either. And all for €20. In my iced coffee (which, according to the menu, had vanilla ice cream), the ice cream was substituted with an extra portion of whipped cream. It's a shame, because the ice cream to go always tastes great there!

We've rarely been so annoyed by an Italian restaurant. The menu referenced Neapolitan culinary traditions and attempted to tell an authentic story. The prices also promised quality. The pizza we received, however, was completely uninspired and far removed from traditional Italian pizza-making. But tastes differ. What really annoyed us was that a piece of plastic was still attached to a slice of salami, so my wife abandoned her pizza (a third of it). We complained to the waitress, who apologized, but nothing followed. An espresso, a drink, or a genuine apology from the chef could have cured a lot. Instead, the full price was deducted. Complaints management looks different. Instead of Italian cuisine and hospitality, this unfortunately turned out to be a tourist-friendly experience. The drinks, ambiance, and speed were all fine.

Service 0 stars: The sign says: wait, be seated, takes forever until someone comes, saying: I'll be right there, I still have to clear the table. Meanwhile, she checks out another table, runs inside, and is never seen again. Another waitress appears and says: pick a seat, nothing is reserved. It takes forever for the order to be taken, and then far too much time passes before a hot chocolate, a cake, and two sundaes arrive... after that, there was never another waitress... Price-performance ratio is also just below par. Never again!!!!

Cozy outdoor terrace, but the furry seat cushions bothered me. It was too warm in the summer at 25 degrees Celsius. Service was very good. The food was delicious.

⸻ Unfortunately disappointing – not a recommendation We had been to Durante years ago and had fond memories of it – but we were even more disappointed this time. The quality of the food had declined significantly, and the value for money was completely out of reach. The table was dirty, the menus were slammed down on us without a word, and overall, the service was rude and unprofessional. Our pizza wasn't cooked all the way through – a no-go for an Italian restaurant. For the prices, we would have expected much more – both culinary and human. Unfortunately, we no longer recommend it.

We waited 20 minutes and were not served and then left

Visit on June 25, 2025 We visited the Durante restaurant at lunchtime. The pizza Diavolo for €15.50 tasted fine and was quite acceptable in terms of value for money. The Pollo Bowl for €21, on the other hand, didn't meet our expectations or even the name "bowl." The portion was manageable, and the ingredients were precisely countable: 8 cucumber slices, 1.5 tomatoes cut into pieces, 8 small mozzarella balls, 2 lettuce leaves, some fennel, a red onion – and no dressing. For the price, one would have expected a much more generous and better-balanced selection. In fact, the whole thing seemed more like a small salad plate. The friendly and attentive service deserves special mention. When we expressed our dissatisfaction, the response was open and professional – even including the suggestion that we would be happy to write a review. We hereby accept this request. Conclusion: The pizza is highly recommended, but the bowl concept was disappointing. If we were to visit again, we would choose a different restaurant.

Dropped by for a quick visit and had a great experience. Arite and her colleague Marlene both created a really welcoming atmosphere friendly, relaxed, and clearly good at what they do. You can tell they enjoy working together, and it reflects in the vibe of the place. Also, the ice cream hit the spot, definitely coming back.

We had reserved for 12 people, the tables were arranged together with different decorations, which didn't look very nice. There was no table decoration whatsoever, maybe a small flower vase, candle or something similar. The service was very bad, we had to ask inside several times if we wanted to order something. Overall, everything gave the impression that we were not welcome, or that the owners no longer felt the need. We are all from Schwerin and will not visit the restaurant again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Quite an okay place. Pizza okay, but not overwhelming. The salami and Parma were cut at the counter and tasted super delicious. The base and tomato sauce were like bought in a grocery store. Therefore we also thought the price was set way too high. Not a bad pizza though! :)

Unfortunately, not at all child-friendly: We were here with our children (5 and 3 years old). Since there was no children's menu available, we wanted to share a dish for our children. The server asked if this was possible. No response. Result: The children's portions were huge, and half of each portion was returned. The bill was for two portions, with a small discount (€2 per portion). Extremely poor service: Absolutely unacceptable - but the food was good.

Charging €8.90 for a scoop of ice cream with three strawberries, which should be a small strawberry sundae, is shameless. Not recommended. Totally overpriced or simply a tourist rip-off!!!

The food is excellent! The service, especially the speed, was not at all satisfactory. We waited a long time for the menus and even longer to place our order. The food came quickly. I also find it a shame, given the prices, that there's no "greeting from the kitchen" (no bread, olives, etc.), and no liquor for payment. The outdoor seating is nice, but the inside feels like a cafeteria.

The ambience and service are really great. However, the quality of the food is really just below average. For the prices, the food is nothing special. We had 2 pizzas that are actually better, even at a kebab shop, and the pasta dishes were just OK. Very unfortunate. We won't be coming back and can't recommend it either. The staff was very attentive.

Pizza with average taste for €18.50 and salad for €20 away from home cannot be justified, completely overpriced. But no one ever forces you to go there again.

We chose this restaurant based on a review on Google Maps. When we arrived there was no room for 4 people due to reservations etc. There were two boys next to us who had found a place in the restaurant. We sat outside and the boys 20cm in front of us. Just in the restaurant. The waiter came to us once. Of course we needed another moment. Were simply ignored for 20 minutes despite repeated eye contact with several waiters. The boys who got the place after us, of course, already got their drinks and even their food. During that time the waiter or one of the four other waiters didn't even come to us. Our whole family didn't feel welcome. Then I didn't feel like it anymore because the waiters really looked at me and just continued doing their jobs. I can understand that you have to do something and there was a large group. But I also sat in other restaurants where there was a bit more going on. As a rule, you always manage to convey some kind of feeling to the customer so that he doesn't feel neglected. (I'm deliberately not playing the racist card here. Because every person should be treated equally. Especially if you're friendly.) Well, long story short, no point. I'm sitting at another Italian restaurant 3 streets away. It's even fuller and we're the only ones sitting outside. The waiter. (Alone) still managed to talk to us and not ignore us. I hope this was just an isolated incident and that it wasn't intentional on their part. But when you say that it's a bit crappy to wait outside for 20 minutes in a light wind without placing an order. Personally, I don't think it belongs in any restaurant. No matter whether small or large. Unfortunately I couldn't rate the food but the feeling of the service was 1 star. (Only because one of the waiters welcomed us and assigned us a seat.)

We had dinner there today, the pizza was so dry and the edge was so hard that you couldn't eat it. The rest of the food was just like zero eight fifteen, completely overpriced. Price performance didn't match. Once and never again, unfortunately. The olive oil on the bruschetta was bitter.

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the service was friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated. However, the food itself was a bit underwhelming. We ordered pizza, and while the ingredients (apart from the cheese) were fresh and of good quality, the overall experience fell short. The bread was quite thick, which made the pizza feel heavy, and the cheese wasn’t particularly enjoyable, it lacked the creaminess you’d expect. I’d definitely recommend skipping the Margherita pizza, as it didn’t leave much of an impression. Overall, it was an average dining experience. Good service, but the pizza could use some improvement.

Great mulled wine, homemade and super tasty

Unfortunately, the chic ambience and ambitious prices don't match the quality of the food. The small portion of grilled vegetables for 11.50 euros was ok. Unfortunately our three pizzas were bad. I had a Tonno e Cibolla for 18.00 euros. In return I got a frozen, ready-made pizza. The tiramisu for dessert for 7.50 euros was also rather "medium" because it was quite dry. The ladyfingers were partly still a dry biscuit. I can do this much better. The simple espresso for 2.80 euros was very good and the simple Sicilian red wines for just under 20 euros a bottle were completely fine. The service was attentive and Italian-friendly. Conclusion: you can do it, but don't expect good homemade pizza.

The demand for dining in this city far outweighs the supply and it's very difficult to find a table without booking in advance, so lucky to find one here. The service and atmosphere were very good, and the dessert tiramisu after the meal was very delicious. But unfortunately the quality of pizza and pasta doesn't match the price.

Visited this place randomly, but it was a pleasant surprise. The staff were welcoming and the pizza that the children ordered was tasty. I opted for the carbonara and it was topped with thin slices of bacon and parmesan. It was not fatty but tasty. The ice cream was nice as well as the coffee. Will visit this place again when I visit Schwerin again.

In addition to water and wine, the dishes were the highlight of the evening. The tomato soup was worthy of the name: tomatoes pureed and warmed - nothing more, nothing less. The antipasti plate not only didn't look very Italian, didn't contain any traditional Italian dishes (honey as a sauce on bread?!), but also wasn't convincing in any way. Our pizzas were completely far removed from Italian cuisine: the dough only had salt visible from a distance, was far too thick and therefore underbaked, there was hardly any tomato sauce on the dough (here too, I would say the chef wasn't(!) in love without any pinch of salt) and the other ingredients were of the lowest quality (sausage, cheese, olives and the like) for any layman to observe. All in all: If I could give zero stars, I would. No recommendation!

Auf der Terrasse sitzt man unter den Sonnenschirmen auch bei einem kurzen Wolkenbruch trocken und sicher. Nun aber zum Essen: Das Bresaola Carpaccio als Vorspeise für 2 war fantastisch zart und fein angerichtet; dazu leckeres, frisches Weißbrot. Als Hauptgänge dann die Gnocchi 4Formaggi bzw. die Spaghetti Carbonara; beide Gerichte heiß und köstlich zubereitet. Passend dazu ein Rosato aus Sizilien, das Glas (0,2l) für 4,90 Euro. Preis, Qualität und Service stimmig, mit 2 Ausnahmen: Die Flasche Acqua Panna (0,75l) war mit 8,00 Euro überteuert, ebenso der kleine Espresso mit 2,80 Euro. Alles in allem ein sehr empfehlenswertes Restaurant.

We ate ice cream in a waffle on our city tour. The ball has a hefty price of €2. The selection of flavors was good and the ice cream was creamy and delicious. The balls were a good size.

1-2 years ago it was a good restaurant by Schwerin standards. Today was a disaster. Portions were far too small, the prices were like in a top restaurant in Munich! and the pizza looked and tasted like a frozen pizza.. very, very unfortunate!

We spontaneously got a table here for ice cream and coffee and were overall satisfied. The service is very friendly and quick. The ice cream sundaes are quite expensive - but! (As we unfortunately noticed too late) On the dessert menu you will find classic Italian specialties, including ice cream, which are really cheap. The lime cakes with meringue are a dream (around €6) and even if it should go without saying - the espresso is also very good. In short: this will be my address for a piece of Italy in Schwerin in the future.

Heerlijke gerechten met verse ingrediënten en vriendelijke bediening. Meerdere keren gegeten tijdens onze vakantie, elke dag anders, maar altijd goed.

We were 4 people. Ordered 2 pizzas, pollo alla peperonata and fettine di maiale con salsa funghi. Pizza crust was so low quality - assumed that it was bought frozen before cooking with ads. Pollo(chicken) was just boiled chicken breast, which was cooked separately and covered with tomato based sause. And it was not stewed together, the meat was with no taste. Fettine(pork) was just a few slices of stewed dried pork covered, which weren't also stewed together with a sauce. So that was literally uncombined butterbrot/sandwich with sauce for 20€. Cappuccino was from capsules. Portions are tiny for that helly high prices. All tastes like earth. And for that we paid 110€ The only good thing was the wine, but wait a minute - they didn't cook it.

This is the best Carbonara I've eaten at a Restaurant outside of Italy. Pure love on a bowl. I was quiet and mesmerized every bite. Exactly what I was looking for. I will be back.

The food was grossly overpriced and the service was the unfriendly I've ever experienced. No hello, no goodbye. Any conversation will be kept to a minimum. That paired with a picture-perfect hack face. The pizza doesn't taste any better than a frozen one. The dough is also punched out evenly. So it could easily arrive at them pre-made by the wholesaler. Overall, the store feels extremely uninspired and the prices are at least twice as high as they should be.

That was a really nice evening with our furry friend :). The food was great. The service was great and very attentive. There was a nice water bowl for our sweet Thabo. He was happy with the Tesuper.

Nice Italian ice cream parlor with very tasty ice cream. Large selection of fine variants, all of which taste good. The balls are a great size and there is a lot to lick. The waffles are also nice and crispy. Standing in line is worth it.

We went to Durante for dinner based on a recommendation. The pizza was okay at best and the pizza dough reminded me a bit of that of a frozen pizza. I expected more for higher prices. In addition, the service was a bit boring and the portions were small.

Pasta (sauce, cheese) and carpaccio tasted like it came from the supermarket, not tasty. Atmosphere is pleasant, service is good, ice cream is also delicious.

The food tastes better than it looks! The service is very nice and speaks Italian. The waiting time is very short and everything is very fresh!! The place itself has an Italian soul. A quiet place where you can relax and talk.

Normal food (the ragù sauce was loose). The guy who brought us the drinks was friendly and helpful. The other two employees stared at us the entire time. We stayed less than 50 minutes but we felt uncomfortable in this situation and gave up the dessert and coffee. We prefer to eat without anxiety (used to Berlin) so we don't recommend.

Certainly it is a question of taste. Unfortunately, the card only applies to me to a small extent. The food looks good, but the portions are quite small for the price. Otherwise it is cozy, the staff are friendly and the Italian charm and mixed language complete the cultural experience.
