Duke of Beer & Burger The Pub in Göttingen in Göttingen

First, you're sent away from the restaurant because they're not open, then you wait 15 minutes without a menu and check the online information just in case. Then you order and get the consistency of a frozen patty, fries that are simply sitting on a tray, and a burger that's just dripping. Thanks to the foil, the underside of the burger disappears and is barely there. Then the bill comes with the shocker! The prices on the website DO NOT match those on the menu! The dishes there are usually €1-2 more expensive than online! To me, that's a scam!

Everything was great! The waitress was the only one working the bar and serving, and we still had the best evening :) Top service, the best drinks, and a ton of fun at karaoke, thank you🌟

According to Google, it was open until 2:30 a.m. At 12:45 a.m., they weren't allowed in because of the last round.

I'm impressed by the tall waitress. She was in charge of the entire bar all by herself and handled it incredibly well. You could see it was exhausting for her, but she always smiled and was quick.

Highly recommended! The bar has a fantastic atmosphere – karaoke is a lot of fun here, whether you're singing or just listening. The atmosphere is relaxed yet energetic, perfect for a fun evening with friends. A special highlight, however, is definitely the service: Julia is the best waitress ever! Super friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. She looked after us perfectly throughout the entire evening and made sure we felt completely at home. We'll definitely be back – if only for Julia and the great karaoke nights! 🎤🍹

Great service. Food was OK. Not bad, but nothing more.

Huge burgers and a very cool place, Irish-style and with a good atmosphere. I'm not giving it 5 stars because charging 3 euros for a glass of water seems excessive. One of the waitresses is very rude. About 10 Spaniards walked in as soon as they opened, and it seems that bothered her a lot because she didn't feel like working.

The Italian pizzas are very delicious.

This was our third time attending the pub quiz on Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m., and it was always great. The host was always super friendly and funny. Tonight was particularly stressful, but the waitresses still did their best. Julia, in particular, was always super friendly, attentive, and even had a few funny remarks every now and then. She's one of the highlights for me every evening. I'm always happy when she serves us. I'm already looking forward to next week's quiz and am excited to see how we do.

The food (burgers) was incredibly delicious and we were delighted by the cheerful and extremely friendly waitress Julia!

Simply perfect. The store was completely packed, but the staff still gave their all, and everything arrived quickly.

We went to the beer festival first, but it closed at 11 p.m., so we moved on to Duke. Best decision! Great atmosphere, good drinks, and the highlight was even karaoke, which was a lot of fun. The perfect place to end the evening on the right foot.

0.5 beer from the menu was served in 0.4 glasses.

My partner and I were looking for a pub to eat at and couldn't have come across a better place. Besides the great location and superb beer, we had the best burgers we've ever had. A special mention goes to Julia, who welcomed us like old friends and looked after us attentively throughout the evening. The only downside: living 800 km away and not being able to return!

We had some awesome fries and the burgers were good as well. We had a pull pork burger and a barbecue burger. Drinks and beer to that. Everything we're fine. The waitress always had a nice smile. Keep on with that.

Only frozen patties. The Smash Burger is simply called a "smash" burger, but it isn't one. The waitress confirmed that's just the name. It was disappointing, unfortunately. The burgers are better and fresher at home. Any criticism of the burger was laughed off, and it definitely won't be passed on to the kitchen.

Unfortunately, you can't call this place an Irish pub.

We were here this evening and were lucky enough to be invited by Lilli. The food was very good, and the beer was at a good temperature. We'd be happy to go again.

There's something for everyone: burgers and quesadillas are delicious. Various rustic seating options, and karaoke is also available in the bar on the right. The service was very funny.

I went there with a friend on Thursday evening, and we were served by a super nice waitress. She was alone and did a really great job 😊

Great food. My friends and I tried the burgers, and they were delicious. The burgers are truly something special. The staff is friendly and regularly checks in on the guests. The pub's ambiance is good, but it loses a point because the tables are a bit too low. Tall people easily get their legs stuck under the table.

We just spent a wonderful evening my daughter and I, Guinness, burgers, you name it! Everything was great! The place is a disaster! The burger was not cooked well. Bad service, and little for the number of diners. The atmosphere was also not very pleasant, but perhaps the only “acceptable” part of the experience.

Unfriendly service and long waiting times. We waited over an hour for drinks during the week when the shop was half empty and then the waitress complained. Not recommended.

A very fun evening with karaoke - again and again!

The offer and service is very good! I had a vegetarian burger with an egg. Unfortunately the burger sauce wasn't anything special, which is why the burger wasn't great but otherwise tasted good.

The food and drinks came quickly even though it was very busy. We were served by Julia and the service was great! Totally personable and very attentive, just as you could wish for. We had a great evening with delicious food and would love to come back. 👍

Nice location, but but ... I know the DUKE from Hanover, which was always excellent and we were looking forward to the burgers at the DUKE in Göttingen: what a disappointment: the meat of the burger 🍔 was a compressed patty with strong seasoning, worse than a burger King. We haven't eaten something so inferior in a long time. The prices are totally overpriced for such poor quality. What happened to the good burgers? New management and purchasing of inferior goods. It's a shame because the location is very nice. Unfortunately the music was so loud (5:30 p.m.) that we had to ask the waiter to turn the rock music down a little; we noticed that they were gossiping about us... no professional behavior from the staff. Well, that was our last visit.. FIVE Guys is 100% better in terms of quality... even if they don't have karaoke!

A really nice bar on two levels. The staff is really very attentive and polite. Despite the store being full, the service has everything in view and no one has to wait long. We were there on a Saturday for a karaoke evening and can only recommend it. Thumbs up for this location and the associated employees.

Not like the old Irish pub, much less pub, but definitely okay and the food is good too.

Unfortunately, the service and quality in this location has declined significantly. We waited 45 minutes for our first drink. Sometimes the food came before the drinks. We were given dirty glasses and the waitress only replaced them at our insistence. Service was complete chaos. We could have easily consumed three times as much if we had gotten the drinks quicker. It's a shame, the store has a lot of potential but the attitude of the employees would also have to change. When we paid we were asked if everything was OK. was - my colleague then denied that and also justified it. Instead of apologizing, it was completely dismissed. It's a shame when questions are asked but the feedback is not accepted. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the toilets was also poor and a bit disappointing.

The food was good, the service was attentive, even if she once confused whiskey with gin in our group - but we hadn't drunk so much before to not notice that ;) Unfortunately, the IPA beer was out, otherwise there was but a good selection of drinks for a social evening. The live music on Saturday wasn't Irish, but American country-style, not really my thing. Overall, a nice and fun evening!

We were at the Duke last night with 8 people. Table ordered a good 8 weeks ago for 7 p.m. At the beginning everything was fine, a bit loud and crowded but ok. Ordering drinks and food was also quick...around 7:15 p.m. Drinks came after a good 20 minutes, just ok... At 8:15 p.m. we asked about our food and the answer we got was 'it will take at least another 25 minutes'... to our comment... 'at least? '....just said 'they have 120 places...! The waitress left and was not seen again... not even to pick up drinks again. Our table was avoided. At 9:15 p.m. our food arrived, which unfortunately wasn't really good. So not recommended, because if you can't serve 120 seats, then you shouldn't occupy all the tables at the same time.

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at Duke. After more than two hours of waiting, our food arrived - and it was cold too. At first we were even served the wrong order. When the waitress realized her mistake, she took the food we had already tried and brought it straight to another table. Something like this is absolutely unacceptable and unhygienic. At no time were we informed that it would take so long, which made the situation even more frustrating. The noise level was also very high, which made a relaxing stay impossible. The ambience is appealing, but unfortunately that alone is not enough to justify a visit. One star - there really isn't anything more to it. We definitely won't visit this store again.

Wow… amazing burgers!! The Goliath and the Animal are gigantic... the sweet potato fries are a dream... the only thing that is a bit uncomfortable is the glass door, which opens every time staff/guests walk past it, which makes the room extremely cold, but that's just a side note... highly recommended.

Iconic pub in Göttingen with a large beer selection, delicious hearty food and great service. Tips include the beer tower that you can pour yourself at the table and the karaoke evening for even more of a good atmosphere!

We are a group of 5 people and we drank different beers and cocktails here. The atmosphere is very chill here due to karaoke. The people who work there are very polite.

When I heard from a friend here in Göttingen that the owner had changed, I had to go and after a long time we drove to Göttingen to take a look. I just say it's a shame what can be done so economically out of an Originals Irish Pub. This is a beer bar with a Fressburger. This Irish flair is no longer present here. We used to spend good old times here, but now, maybe good for the students, but it used to be better! For us, dS was the first and last visit. It has nothing to do with Originale anymore. The boss used to come to the table, ask if everything was okay, you were given cigars and you were the last to leave in the morning. Man, there's a food stall on that corner, but to spoil an Irish pub like that, go to Ireland, there's no fast food in the pub!

Had a hamburger and a Snakebite to drink for a total of €17, nothing else included... the hamburger was lukewarm and you had the feeling that it had been sitting around for a while.. I'm really not squeamish about food and I forgive a lot, but the burger was good for you Rest stop is in no way inferior.. very annoying for over €10 without everything… Even the review here is juicier than the burger! It's a shame because I also had a good meal with you... what happened Dukes? That was one of the worst burgers I've eaten unfortunately...

Very good manager who organizes everything well and is always in direct contact with the customer. The team is very friendly and competent 👍. The kitchen prepares the best delicacies for the guests. Every Friday and Saturday evening there is a great karaoke offer from 9 p.m.!!! Thank you for the lovely evenings!!! 😘
